About the Author

Jaclyn Kot is a prairie girl, an avid reader, occasional Netflix binger and a total foodie. She is a proud mama of many chickens, two fabulous kitties and a good doggo. She lives on a farm in Saskatchewan, Canada with her husband.

She writes high fantasy fiction and likes her fantasy served with plot twists, a side of spice and morally grey males with a palate for strong-willed females.

It is her hope that readers will fall in love with Sage and Von’s story just as much as she has.

Rhysand WISHES. Von has the true daddy energy.

This installment was a wild ride. I loved being back in the main story and exploring the different planes, but what really made it shine for me (as always) was the messy, tender, complicated, and devoted bond between Von and Sage. They’re long-lived (hand wobble for Sage), which means plenty of questionable choices and baggage, but also a love that feels hard-earned and deeply rooted. Watching them work through that complexity while still being so devoted to one another was pure perfection.

That said, I was really looking forward to diving back into the main story after the prequel, but I have forgotten SO much from the first two. I have no idea who these side characters are, and I no longer have any major emotional ties to any of them. I'm sure a reread would have been helpful. I wish there had been a summary at the beginning that could have triggered my memory.

There were moments that I loved and moments that I did not like. This series continues to expand in wild and unexpected ways, and I’ll admit, sometimes it feels a little overwhelming with how much is happening.

What I’ve always adored about this series is Sage and Von, and I do appreciate that their relationship remains the heart of the story. But here, it often felt like they were pushed to the side in favor of secondary characters, many of whom I honestly didn’t remember from previous books. Some of the new characters are intriguing and add fun dynamics to the cast, but with such a large ensemble, I occasionally found myself wishing we’d spend more time with the couple who first pulled me into this world. The new additions are interesting, but there are just so many to keep track of that I wasn’t as emotionally invested.

This book felt more like a bridge than a destination, setting things up for what’s to come rather than delivering big payoffs on its own. That made the pacing feel much slower, but the twist at the end definitely pulled me back in and reminded me why I’m still excited to see where this story goes next. Even with its sprawling scope, I’m still invested in some of these characters, and I’m hoping the next book brings the focus back to Sage and Von, because they’re the reason I’ll keep turning the pages. I love them, and they’re the reason I’ve stayed invested, but this one didn’t quite hit the way I wanted it to.

Thanks so much to the author for the complimentary pre-released copy. This review is voluntary and all opinions are my own.

I’ve been waiting for this book and it was Absolutely worth the wait.

To dive back into this world and these characters was such a treat. I have been in love with Von, MMC and shadow zaddy extraordinaire, and Sage, FMC and all around bad b energy!

Ngl this book was an emotional roller coaster but in the best of ways. It will keep you captivated the whole way through, answering some of the questions that have lingered from previous books but at the same time leaving you with more questions.

There’s new characters to get to know and love some you don’t along this journey and I’m absolutely hear from some spin off books ma’am (is looking at Jaclyn)

But yes it was an absolute pleasure to fall back into this realm and world and if you have not read this series you seriously need to. I dare say Von with his brooding, his tats, his banner and the ferocity with which he yearns and does his best to prove how much he loves and longs for Sage makes him TOP TIER book husband material up there with the likes of Kingfisher, Xaden, the bat boys, Blackwell and more

Overall this series as a whole INFINITY STARS this book doesn’t fail to deliver and since I can only give it 5⭐️ then there you go and the spice is always so nice 3🌶️ do yourself a favor and read this series starting with Between Life & Death.

I am destroyed once again. 💔 Between Soul and Vessel absolutely ripped me apart and somehow rebuilt me—only to tear me down again MULTIPLE times. This book was everything I wanted and more, but that ending?! WHY, Jaclyn, WHY 😭😭😭 My whole freaking heart was shattered and mended and shattered again.

This installment picked up right where book 2 left us hanging, and it was INTENSE. 🔥 We had four first person POVs this time, two of them brand new, and I loved how quickly I connected with them even though they were going through their own share of heartbreak. The world expanded into The Mother Realm, a hauntingly beautiful and brutal place that revealed so many answers. If you’ve been desperate for Sage’s memories, for long-held secrets, for the bigger picture… this was the book that finally gave us that. 🌌

The found family dynamic remained my favorite—our shadow daddy Von (ugh, I love him so much), and the entire group trying to reunite against impossible odds. The obstacles were endless, the stakes higher than ever, and every time I thought the ground had settled, Jaclyn yanked it right out again. ⚡ The suspense, the agony, the hope—it was all there.

This book carried so much: desperation, longing, grief, courage, hopelessness, love that defies lifetimes. 💫 It had plot twists I half-saw coming but was still blindsided by others, hidden identities, a new villain that was downright chilling, and a last quarter that left me cold with dread. The dread consumed me because I could feel the happy ending slipping away. And yet… the hope still burned.

Perfect for fans of:
👥 Found Family
🖤 Possessive Winged Shadow Daddy Energy
🔮 Elemental Magic
💔 Betrayals & Hidden Identities
🧩 Plot Twists & Mind Speak
🌌 Broader Worldbuilding & Meddling Gods
💞 Fated Mates & Love That Spans Lifetimes
🥀 Grief Representation
🔥 Medium-High Spice (yes, with praise kink 👀)
😱 Wild, Wild Endings

What I loved most was watching Sage and Von’s bond deepen. Sage’s trauma weighed so heavily on her, but she continued to fight—not just for herself but for everyone else. She truly embodied the Goddess of Life. 🌿 And Von? He carried his regrets but never let them blind him to her strength. His love and recognition of her pain made me ache in the best way.

This was such a climactic and exhilarating follow-up. The Mother Realm was fascinating, the reveals were jaw-dropping, and the emotional punches were relentless. I devoured this book and am now utterly desperate for book 5. Please, Jaclyn, I am on my knees. 🥹

Thank you so much to Jaclyn Kot for the ARC opportunity ❤️ This series is unforgettable, soul-ripping, and one of my absolute favorites.

Honestly, infinity stars… this is my favorite series hands down I love everything about this series and book!

Von, our brooding shadow daddy, protective, egotistical in a good funny way- had me giggling and kicking my feet but had me in tears for his love that he is not afraid to show Sage.

Sage, I adore this FMC so much, her power and strength, she finds herself, even as broken as she is, she’s a warrior. She has stolen my heart in this book.

There are some new characters that I CANNOT wait to read more about, and some old friends too. Fingers crossed for some spins off because I never want to leave this world!

Read this series!

Eh. This book was not written as well as the previous books. You could see everything coming from a mile away. This just felt like a filler book and everything is going to happen in the next book. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The fact that this has taken four books based on the amount of actual plot development is literally INSANE.

There is a heck of a lot of filler in this book. The third book was essentially mostly filler. Most of the plot twists you see coming from miles away.

The relationship between von and Sage in this book is well done but this book basically whipped in two additional character POVs and I’m not sure that it was even necessary.

We get a new villain in this one and go even further back into their previous previous previous? Is that even enough? Lives. And because the other villains just were not enough, we add in another person with literally less than 0 redeeming qualities. Oh, did you think the previous villains were done? Of course not. This series is just crazy repetitive. When you factor in the repetitiveness, the amount of filler in the book and the characters you like (outside of Von and Sage) getting almost no development or time, nothing from their POVs and the sheer length of each book… this series is basically an exercise in patience. For about 75% of every book nothing of importance happens and then we shove in a whole book of plot lines into the last 25% (if that). You’re left on a cliffhanger every time so you’ll pick up the next one and then you’re back in your regret cycle as you try to trudge through mostly the equivalent of watching paint dry until they give you some small crumbs. Rinse. Repeat.

Here I was thinking this was going to be the last book and we would be done but about 55% in I checked the reviews and found out there is going to be a 5th. Will I read it? Probably. Will I enjoy it? If we follow the formula the other books did, likely no. But, alas, I am at commit level I guess and why not have them defeat the same people with infinity lives. Yippee.

This wasn’t as good as the previous ones. Repetitive. Twists were telegraphed way in advance. I’m tired. Sage and Von’s backstory was good. It didn’t need this extra layer.

Wow wow wow wow. I literally have been waiting for this book since I finished the third one and I got caught up reading other books that I completely forgot that this book was coming out. I thought it originally came out in October but randomly one night I looked this book up and saw that it released and I bought it on Kindle. That was my first book ever.

Now let’s get into this review. I first did not think that I was going to enjoy having four different POV‘s because I usually am not a fan of so many POV’s in books. I think they get confusing and parade on one another. But this one I could deal with because the other two minor characters stories was very interesting. And then to find out that one of the minor characters in the next book will be a major character because he is the missing son that they thought that they lost. I screamed out loud with this was revealed on the very last page!!!!!

OMG, what a way to get you excited for the next book!!! I liked the world building, but I’ll be honest I was confused in some respect, they definitely did tie things together like they would mention memories that didn’t happen in the other books, and so we had to read down the line to find out when those memories happen. And it just made me realize I should probably go back and reread the other 3 to fill in those gaps because I do not remember some things happening lol.

Von and Sage. Siggghhhhhhh. I needed more scenes with them. I feel like after 200 pages they were finally reunited, and OMG so good. But also confusing because I don’t know how much time has passed since she has died or rather taken…. ? in the third book. Because I think on one page I read decades, and then another one was centuries and then another one was years so I don’t know how long they’ve been separated. Too dang long that’s for sure. Their love scenes was also really good freak Ish on 10 and I love their professing love scenes to one another. It was corny, but it had me kicking my feet together. There was some parts in this book when I was like yeah this is written by a millennial lol. But that’s OK. She wrote the heck out of this book.

We were introduced to her sister and folkoin , I need their book series right now. And then their son oh my freaking gosh, because we really got to hear both POV’s from sage and von about how they both grieved their son in different ways and then for him to be alive in the end, OMG, like there was a glimmer of hope to when sage thought that he might be alive and now it’s confirmed????? AHHHHHHH

Now, do I think I will reread this like I did the other three, probably not but that’s OK. I will just be patiently waiting.

✨Between Soul & Vessel✨

Author: Jaclyn Kot
Release: September 23, 2025
Series: Between Life & Death, book 4

My whole freaking heart has been torn apart and rebuilt over this whole series but MULTIPLE TIMES just in this book. 😭😭 and that ending!! I KNEW IT! I just knew it and it makes me so happy and SO SAD. Jaclyn is a master of taking your emotions through a rollercoaster- keeping you glued to the edge of your seat. And buckle up, because when you think the floor is finally securely beneath your feet, she’s gonna drop it right out. Oooh the suspense and agony and HOPE I have waiting to go into book 5!

We begin BSAV right where we left off from book 2’s cliffhanger (book 3 is a prequel). We have 4 first person POVs. 2 are new and getting to know them is SO GOOD even though they’re equally going through the wringer.

We spend most of our time in a new realm called The Mother Realm and, if you’ve been dying for answers and Sage’s memories, THIS BOOK GIVES IT ALL. So much that has been hidden is revealed. Our favorite shadow daddy, Sage, and their found family work to reunite, but the obstacles and the stakes are so high. Our new villain is something else, too. Y’all. There are just so many plot twists, reveals, hidden identities, and revelations that all I can tell you without giving it away is: this book has it all. Desperation. Hope. Longing. Courage. Hopelessness. Darkness. Spice. Romance that spans lifetimes. High stakes. And everything Jaclyn has set up is coming together soooo nicely. I devoured this book and now I’m desperate for the next one.

Tropes you may find in BSAV are found family, broader world and history building, fated mates, mind speak, betrayals, hidden identities, plot twists, medium-high spice, elemental magic, hard topics (check TW), meddling gods, possessive winged shadow daddy, grief rep, praise kink, and a wild ending!

It has been such a joy to read Jaclyn’s books and an honor to get to arc read this one! Thank you so much. I can’t wait to see what you give us next!

Gahhh!!! So many thoughts and so many feelings with this one!

First, wonderful as always! The new characters and new snippets of Von and Sage’s story were so so good! I love Artemesia and I hope we get more of her and a certain someone’s story. Shadow! Gah! I want to talk more about him, but I don’t want to say any spoilers! Suffice it to say, he was perfection and I totally knew. 😜 PLEASE give my boy his hea!

Second, despite my terrible memory and having read the other books a while ago, I was still able to get right into this book from the beginning. The pacing and writing were top notch.

Third, ma’am you are the queen of painful cliffhangers! I suspected the very end of the ending, but the other part of the ending (those two very specific THINGS we shall not name) was a wild curveball! Congratulations for making me kick and scream and almost throw my kindle across the room.

Also, some of the lines in this book were soooo swoon worthy! Let’s digest this delicious one that made me giggle and melt all at the same time 😂 This one is for the booktok/bookstagram girlies FOR SURE:

“The way Von loved me was beyond compare. There was no limit to it. No boundaries. Only open, strong arms, all the forehead kisses a good girl could want, and one Spirit Realm of a hard, steely 🍆”

And one final thing: Thanks for hurting me without even the “good girl” name calling to go with the bite of pain. Sigh. At least Sage is getting called a good girl unlike some of us. 😒😂

Thanks so much for the ARC!

📖: Between Soul and Vessel (Between Life and Death, Book 3)

In Between Soul and Vessel, the past and present collide. Jaclyn weaves a story featuring multiple POVs and timelines as we meet new characters and learn the origins of souls, vessels, and the War of the Creators.

Tropes:
💕 Fated mates
🍎 Posessive Shadow Daddy + umbra twins 👀
🥀 Hades and Persephone Inspired
🖤 Tattooed Vows
🩸 Gods with vampire tendencies
🐉 Dragon/Gryphon/Raven Shifters
💚 Found Family

Themes of sacrifice, betrayal, and rebirth echo throughout the tale and we further explore Sage’s resilience and quiet strength, Von’s restraint and sacrifice, and their molten desire for each other. This series is one of my favorite iterations of the fated mates trope. Von is the epitome of a “burn the world for her” MMC and he continues to assert himself as a top tier Shadow Daddy. The love between them evokes a timeless romance that transcends life and death.

In Between Soul and Vessel, Jaclyn pens an emotional installment that sets up and further expands the world. There is so much to unpack and with each reveal, my heart was racing and aching in equal measure! Jaclyn’s ability to craft complex characters and the most despicable antagonists is simply diabolical. I will be sobbing in a corner until I am reunited with these characters in the final installment.

Thank you Jaclyn for the review copy opportunity. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Thank you to the author for a free copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.

I don't even know how to start this review. I have so many thoughts going round and round in my head about this book that it feels like throwing a dart at a fly to try to bring them into a cohesive review. This author has wrecked my brain, in the best of ways, with this book. I strongly recommend having a box of tissues nearby when you read this book because at one point or another, you will need it. My heart was destroyed multiple times in this book alone, let alone if you count the entire series. Jaclyn is a very lovingly sadistic author and I am here for it!

This book introduces some new characters and some new POVs. We spend the majority of our time in a new world, known as the Mother Realm, and with this new world brings a whole slew of new information.

Sage goes through a harsh struggle at the beginning of the book. Her will is broken and when she is sentenced to death, she accepts it. At least until Von, our resident shadow daddy, manages to break through to her with the help of..... someone... and she becomes renewed. This leads to all these pieces falling into place as we discover more and more information about Sage and Von. Their history goes back father than we knew and with every day Sage's memories start to come back to her, both breaking my heart as they return and delivering hope.

The villain in this book though.. She is something else. I am honestly so disgusted by her every time that I see her on the page. I can not wait for book 5 and her ultimate demise, because she is one of the worst villains I have ever seen.

Of course, it wouldn't be a Jaclyn Kot book without a cliffhanger that stabs you in the gut and twists the knife. I am hooked with this series and seriously I need book five.. now.

OMG, she did it again.

This has been one of my favorite series since I stumbled upon it a WHILE back. I love this whole series. (Between the Moon & Her Night does remain my favorite of the series, although this one is a close second)

Von and Sage have lived many “lives”. All of them where they were meant to be together. This book slowly, and in a very round about way leads them back together. It ads to their lore.

We travel to an entirely new realm, where we see both new faces AND a few we thought (and hoped) we had seen the last of.

We get new POV’s. We get added depth to Von and Sage, Vons sister, Von’s brother, and so many others. What a wild ride.

Did we think that the guys from Between Life and Death, Sun and Moon, and Moon and Night were evil? Move over, there’s a new villain in town! And good lord is this one the epitome of evil.

And Von? He’s even more of a simp for our girl than we ever realized!

WHAT A WILD RIDE. Bring tissues, bring your love of Von and Sage, and bring your emotional support blanket. You are going to need it in the best way!

Thank you so much Jaclyn for the opportunity to be part of your team! I was provided an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review. Honestly, this was AMAZING (the book) . Grab your copy or read it on KU starting September 23rd!

This book is a gulit pleasure of mine there's something things that I love in the book like the character Von and sage are such beautiful characters i love them it so wholesome to see them grow together also. There memories for There past life i wanted more of that if the author was to write a book about the creator war and more of Von as Nockrythiam and his relationship with sage at that time and more of sage and her relationship with her father!!! but.... there are some part in this book that don't make sense like why Saphira ( von's sister) when with them to recuse sage but then she just disappeared..? I thought she would be more in this book and even in the blurb in was said that his siblings would be helping him and yes his brother was there but what about saphira? I was looking forward to seeing Von and her relationship especially after the Flashback in last book but was left disappointed. Also ik i said that Aurelius was a wasted potential of a villain when he was killed in the second book but that doesn't mean I wanted him back???? Also there's soo many things to talk about like sage sister at first I didn't trust her but as the chapter when on I came to love there bond with each other

Jaclyn Kot (and Von) never let me down!

This book was an unraveling of all the secrets that were laid in place with the way that Between Sun and Moon ended, with plenty of new secrets being interwoven along the way. Y'all I don't even know where to begin without spoiling it. There are new characters, new POVs, new secrets, some answers, all of the found family that you've known and loved from book one, and a lot of Von being his hot-but-gooey-beneath-it-all self.

I loved guessing where it was all headed, and I was NOT disappointed. I need book 4 asap, kthxBYE.

After the ending of book 2, Von is desperate to get Sage back, no matter the cost. And Sage is still reeling from her returning memories plus the new revelations that keep getting thrust on her.

There are plenty of lows in this book but also some really great highs. We love shadows 👀 There’s one more book and I don’t know if I can survive until it comes out based on how this one ended. I’m so freaking distraught y’all!

I already loved the world building in the other books but now we get a whole NEW world too?? I love how much thought and time Jaclyn must have spent creating these worlds and this series. My boy, Von, can do no wrong in my eyes. A true “ride or die” kind of guy and he is 🥵.

Jaclyn, please write the next book faster!! I know it just came out but I am DYING for the next (and last) book!

I received this book as an ARC.

I don’t know how I feel about this book. It covered quite a bit, but I feel that not a lot happened. There was a decent twist at the end, and the new characters they introduced were interesting enough. But I feel that she didnt cover enough of our FMC and MMC. I was highly anticipating this book and I am writing this a few days post read and am still left wanting more.

New villains are introduced. The empress, and with her, matriarchy reigns. She has her mad scientist Victor and he is grotesque in every way imaginable. But try not to imagine it, yeah?

All in all, a decent read but I just wanted more. I feel like everything in the middle was a filler just to get to those chapters at the end.

Well, with that cliffhanger, I better get some much needed epic action and closure.

*******SPOILERS***********

Sage finding her sister after all this time was pleasing. I can see why Jaclyn (author) wrote her in and her sister it seems, plays a much bigger role than you realize at first. However it’s kind of like “I knew it” *insert eye roll* instead of “I knew it!” and we’re kicking our feet when you realize what her role is. Cheesy, totally called it, but still fun.

Sage finding out that she is the creator’s daughter! That! That was pretty damn amazing. We know she’s a goddess, but that level of goddess?! Blew my mind.

They do have their child! I did NOT expect that and to realize what he has gone through?! Sweet baby Jesus that one was hell of an ending.

I absolutely loved this book and being back in this world and once again Jaclyn delivered on mending your heart slightly and then completely destroying it by the end 💔😭

In Between Soul and Vessel we are given two new PoVs that add so much value and depth to the wider plot as well as old characters returning and learning more about them. Sage has always been one of my favourite fmcs and this book showed just how resilient and fierce she really is and as for Von nothing beats him and his utter love and devotion for Sage and watching him do absolutely everything he can to be with her was so captivating.

This book gives you answers to certain questions that's been waiting since the first two books but then leaves you with even more questions, twists and turns that will have you on the edge of your seat, desperate for the last book especially when you get to that ending!

This book was an emotional rollercoaster and so engaging where the plot was concerned, I cannot wait for the last book!

Thank you so much to the author for the opportunity to read and review before publication. All opinions are my own.

Ms. Jaclyn….. we need to have a talk. I thought the last book left me on a cliff hanger?! THIS BOOK MADE IT WORSE.

Girlllllllll. You cannot keep dangling the happy ending in front of my face then leaving me STARVING. Two big BOOMS right at the end?! I fear I will not sleep until the final book is ON MY KINDLE. 😩❤️

I’m sad because I was so looking forward to this book! I feel like though it was good it felt like it was a filler book just to keep the series alive, ended in a cliff hanger that’s the same we’ve seen in earlier books in the series.
