Several short snippets of customer and coworker interactions in the team shop. Humorous, frustrating, and all to relatable interactions that range from difficult customers, inventory issues, teenage coworkers, and having a good time working together. Seeing the Cataclysm items was fun and allowed us to learn a bit more of the oddities that live there. We are also given a unique POV and backstory to our favorite assassin turned teaboy. And the last story isn't a quick, quirky one but Saiyana's Choice, a story after the main trilogy about Siayana and how she can finally choose the path of how she wants her life to go. To stay to the status quo or maybe go for the things, and person, she actually wants.
This was a really sweet way to round off the series. I would recommend reading this last, even though there are warnings before each section that state which part of the series you need to have read for there not to spoilers ahead. I liked seeing all the cataclysm ingredients and the every day-ness of the tea shop and Miyara's job, as well as her interactions with her colleagues. I wish that Deniel had featured a little in these interactions but I think I just really like them together. The interlude chapters gave nice extra context and side plots for side characters. I did like Saiyana's novelette at the end, I related to her a lot. There were several points that needed a proof reader though as it felt like there were missing words or sentences that felt jumbled or confused.
This series has become one of my favorites. Having more stories and experiences with these characters is a blessing. The last story is truly a delight. I'm always sad when a series like this is finished, but I can come back to these more easily going forward. Many of these shorts are applicable to real life and teach important lessons in boundaries and connecting with others. I'll be recommending all of them, and I'm not one to leave reviews but knew I needed to this once.
A fun read with more stories of the other characters in the PTCs!
All of the more important parts of a good book are here - a good group of expansion stories on the characters in the PTC books that are fun and fast reads. No teethgrinding over misspelled or wrong usage words, grammar errors punctuation issues or other feral oddities. The only thing wrong with the book is that it should be longer for the addicts!
A delightful collection of short stories and one novella (Saiyana's Challenge). I suggest you take the author's word for it and read this after you have read the 3 novels in the series.
Very enjoyable bite size stories, steeped me back into the story without having to read it again and I liked that they pretty much all occured at the tea house.
