In short, I loved this book. It's got great characters, real and imaginary. I found myself taking notes so I could look up various people, places and things that were mentioned. I enjoyed witnessing all the seasons the characters went through. You see them grow and progress in life but at a quick pace. And I especially loved the astrological perspectives noted at the beginning of each chapter and throughout. I think I highlighted them all. It was enlightening to see astrology woven into a tale like this. I'd say it brings astrology to life in a tangible way for even those who don't know much about it. I had a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes as I read the final chapters. Beautifully written.

As someone who has spent the last decade immersed in the study of astrology, discovering a fictional book that thoughtfully weaves in astrological aspects and transits was a true delight. I was completely drawn into the story—rooting for both women as they navigated their unique yet deeply connected paths of friendship and self-discovery. What made it even more powerful was how many moments felt like reflections of my own journey, making the story incredibly relatable. While I often read non-fiction to deepen my knowledge, there are times I just want to be swept away by a story—and this book gave me that gift. “Beyond Aquarius” by Jennifer Freed with Melissa Lowenstein is a unique combination of romance and astrology that makes perfect sense and joyful reading. This enemies-to-romance novel is the perfect companion to read if you’re in the mood for love and more… more growth in your personal life via astrology and the journey of the characters. The main characters Cam and Jules first cross paths at a Yoga retreat, and it’s dislike at first sight. But when something unexpected happens, they have to put their differences aside and lean on each other. Once back home again, they part ways that are diametrically opposed, but for some strange reason, stay in touch with each other. The question becomes, can a traditional mother and her exact opposite share anything meaningful? The answer lies in the stars.
If astrology is a big part of your life and you rely on it for guidance, or even if it isn’t, this book will delight you in a personal way. Astrology is itself a character in this book, with chapters that are introduced with a nugget of astrology that sets the stage for events to unfold. Beyond Aquarius feels like a potentially genre-defining debut novel in a niche I didn't know I needed: queer astrological romance. That said, the central love story eschews labels and should hold universal appeal for any reader interested in key issues women face around friendship, identity, and more traditional modes of marriage on the long and winding road to self discovery. I found both female protagonists complex, compelling, and relatable, and the organic evolution of their relationship felt modern and empowering.
Astrology fans will love the astrological tidbits that open each chapter, punctuating key plot points and adding an air of cosmic significance. Set against the backdrop of Montecito and Santa Barbara, the story also offers a rare glimpse into the glamorous, high-profile, 'woo’ California lifestyle that struck me as an authentic insider take (presumably informed by the author's own rich experience as a celebrity astrologer). Even astrology skeptics are sure to be intrigued by the sneak peek into this unique cultural milieu.
The pacing is quite brisk and at times I did find myself wishing the author slowed down to explore certain emotional beats or sensual moments more deeply. (That said there are plenty of steamy PG-13 moments to go around whether you prefer women, men, or both--including all at once!) I love this book so much! As an astrology lover, a romance enthusiast, and a self help junkie, I feel like this book was written for me. There were so many nuggets of wisdom effortlessly woven throughout, it was almost as if I was receiving therapy sessions while I was getting to escape into the world of these characters who I came to love, and secretly wished I was also friends with. My favorite fiction books are written by conscious authors, because their consciousness bleeds onto the page. There’s so much to learn from these characters and the way they love and show up for one another. Incredible. I want more from this author, please!!! I also feel like this needs to be turned into a movie, so I can go see it :)

I honestly didn't know what to expect when I ordered this book, but I love Astrology, and I had heard good things from a friend whose taste I trust.
I was so pleasantly surprised! This is a "romance" book, but I would actually say it's a book about true friendship, and what is possible when people really decide to lean into honesty and growth. The book is cute, sweet, deep, thought-provoking, exciting and romantic, which is all you could really ask for. I will say for people who don't know anything about Astrology: don't be intimidated by the table of contents! Jennifer Freed gives a brief explanation of what each chapter title means at the start of that chapter.
This book is right on time for Summer reading, and I feel like it's an elevated version of a Summer romance read.

I am already familiar with Jennifer’s work in psychological astrology and have used her other titles as valuable tools in my life. But “Beyond Aquarius” was a wild departure and wonderful escape! Using astrology to set the scene at the beginning of each chapter was a wonderful way to foreshadow what was going to transpire without giving things away. The main characters are sexy and intriguing, with playful plot lines mixed with the necessary tension to root for one relationship over all the others.
If you’re looking for a break from the heaviness of the world, grab a copy of this book immediately! You’ll spend your days trying to carve out time to keep turning the pages!

This book was so fun to read, I didn’t want it to end! The viewpoint from each of the main characters, Cam and Jules, was special. Their distinct personalities made them equally captivating. Cam's "good girl" persona and Jule's free-spirited nature kept it intriguing and exciting. All of the characters (a nod to YaYa)—the romance, the adventure, the drama, the deep love, and the astrology— were all captivating! I laughed, I cried, I cheered, and I swooned.

While romance novels are not the genre I usually turn to, a friend highly recommended Beyond Aquarius and I'm glad she did! Each chapter of the novel begins with an astrological treat, a foreshadowing of what's in store for our heroines. I loved how astrology was woven into the fabric of the novel, providing an interesting structure and foundation to the tale. A journey of discovery—both self and in relation to others, this novel dives into the complexities of finding connection, friendship, love, and the mystery of what binds us to others.

I absolutely loved this novel. By the end, all of the characters felt like long lost friends and I did not want the story to end. For anyone who is looking for a story about friendship, love and the rhythm of life, this is the story for you. Woven into the each page is the frequency of astrological transits which illuminate the beauty and complexity of the cosmos. A must read! Look forward to a sequel!

I truly enjoyed this book. I am an astrological skeptic but appreciated its inclusion in the story. The characters are vibrant and so are the colors of the prose. There is deep meaning about love, life and friendship here and we all could use more of that in our lives.

Jennifer Freed is one of my favorite authors and this book perfectly blends her sense of adventure, romance, and possibility, with her extensive knowledge of astrology. Packed with beautiful descriptions of the roller coaster of finding yourself in love, plot twists that keep you reading, and the timeless wisdom of astrology, this is a page turner that would make for excellent summer reading (or any reading really!). I love how this was a "genre-buster" so much more than any one thing.

Beyond Aquarius was a very pleasant read! Astrology has always seemed too complex to me, but the way the authors incorporated what was happening astrologically and how it played out in the main characters lives made it make sense. It really made me buy in to their lives and keep reading to find out what happens next!
Overall, I recommend this book for anyone looking for a feel good read that doesn't feel overwhelming. It's beautifully written and a great love story.

Fun and Sexy! I loved this book. I was looking for a romance novel to get me out of a funk and this was it! Her characters come alive and jump off the page!. Jennifer Freed's got a gift. I absolutely adored this book!!! It isn’t something I would have thought to pick up and read as I know very little about Astrology overall. But I quickly became enchanted and found myself looking forward to reading it each night before bed. I truly didn’t want to end, it spellbound me. Beyond Aquarius was just the book I needed. Laugh-out-loud funny, delightfully romantic, and suprisingly educational, Beyond Aquarius checks all the boxes. The astrological touch points at the start of each chapter give cosmic context to the story lines in a way that has never been done before! What a fun book! Romance isn't usually my genre, but a friend recommended this, and I was totally charmed. This would make a perfect summer beach read! Planning on giving copies to a couple of friends. I also have a slight interest in astrology (though I'm certainly not an expert!), and the way it's worked into this narrative felt really approachable—a fun bonus to the romance.

What a fun story! Love these characters and felt so drawn in from the first page! I downloaded the eBook and really can't put it down. It's an easy, engaging and sweet story. Perfect springtime romance!

An entertaining teaching tool!
I found myself referring back to the chapter titles to cement astrological concepts such as transits, trines, aspects, sextiles, oppositions and more in “real time” as I read this fun jaunt through lives and locales.

I felt seen in every chapter. The way the author weaves natal charts into the protagonist’s emotional breakthroughs is genius. It’s not just a romance; it’s a roadmap for finding yourself before finding 'The One.' I’m still thinking about that final chapter in Tibet!

I could not put the book down!!! It was the perfect book to read on vacation. It is a beautiful love story with messages from the planets that inspire uplift and guide the deep characters.
