When grief brings them together, will faith give them wings to soar?
Construction foreman Aaron Grant never expected to become guardian to his fourteen-year-old niece Naomi. Still reeling from his mother's death, he's barely keeping his own faith afloat in small-town Brookside, Georgia. The last thing he needs is complicated feelings for his niece's beautiful history teacher.
But Meghan Townsend sees through his walls. The dedicated educator understands grief all too well. She's been running from her own heartache for years. Her innovative cooking program at Greater Pines High School feeds souls as much as bodies, creating the community connections that both Aaron and Naomi desperately need.
As Aaron struggles to build a home while rebuilding his faith, and Meghan opens her heart despite past wounds, their growing attraction becomes impossible to ignore. With Naomi secretly matchmaking, a tight-knit church community cheering them on, and God's plan slowly revealing itself, these two wounded souls discover that love can bloom even in the soil of sorrow.
But when Meghan's ex-boyfriend resurfaces and Aaron's estranged brother returns seeking redemption, will their budding relationship survive?
From the summer heat of August through an uplifting June conclusion that will warm your heart, follow Aaron and Meghan's journey as they learn that sometimes the family you build is stronger than the one you've lost.

Initial thoughts: An hope filled story about managing Grief , finding your way back to God when you’re angry with him and allowing the unexpected (love).

I don’t usually read romance books, but I decided to give this one a try because I received an ARC. Thanks!
There was some confusion in the beginning with the storyline. Meghan would be repairing for the beginning of the school year, then she would be grading papers a few page later, only for her to say that she was looking forward to the start of the school year a few pages later. The plot moves at a slow and steady pace. Honestly, it was too slow for me. I found myself constantly looking at the percentage read and becoming somewhat disappointed that I wasn’t further along.
I was, however, pleased to find an actually Christian fiction book. It seems like many will label a book as Christine fiction if the Bible is mentioned or if an incidental character attends church. In this story, the characters actually rely upon their faith to help them solve the conflict. This is the true definition of Christine fiction.
While I wanted to know how things would end for the main characters, the story just didn’t pull me in and make me part of their lives. I found myself getting bored with their story. The plot is drawn out and should have been shortened so that the story would have been more compelling.
Aaron and Megan's similar experiences with grief fostered a deep connection. I especially value the various heartfelt moments with Liam. This silver-haired man powerfully illustrates how the Holy Spirit uplifts us daily and guides us to remain steadfast in our faith. As always, purposeful closeness brings genuine love.
Another great book by Barbara Jane Oliver!! Love the promise that even though we may face trauma, God is always there in the end. “Weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning.” Psalm 30:5 I love the relationship between Aaron & Meghan and the family they make with Naomi.
I enjoyed Soaring in Faith by Barbara Jane Oliver. The relationship between Aaron and Meghan was sweet, and I loved seeing the growth in the relationship between Aaron and Naomi and the three becoming a family.
I enjoyed reading "Soaring In Faith', book 2 of the Wings of Faith series by Barbara Jane Oliver. This was a work of fiction, but it dealt with some realistic issues like death, abandonment, loss, addiction, emotional trauma, and self-esteem. Meghan and Aaron were instantly attracted to each other at their first meeting but fought it. Aaron is juggling a demanding job, estrangement from God and his brother, living in a new community, the death of his mother, and surprise guardianship to his grieving niece Naomi. Megan would like to marry and start a family, but her last relationship was awful, so she is hesitant to enter another relationship. Things look bleak, but the assistance of a mysterious elderly man with a fondness for shimmery silver feathers reminded them, with God all things are possible.
