Faltering Europa: Book 10 of the Blitzkrieg Alternate Series (Blitzkrieg Alternate Series
The year is 1946.
The Second World War enters its 8th year, with no end in sight. While the Third Reich and its allies are retreating everywhere, they're not collapsing. The Allies will have to bring the conflict to another level to break the deadlock.
Italy is about to be invaded, and the Germans are busy preparing their defenses south of Rome. The Allies are also pushing in Cyrenaica, and a significant battle is looming in the Gazala/Tobruk area that will determine the Axis fate in North Africa.
The war in the air is increasingly tilting toward the Allies, overwhelming the Italo-Germans with their numbers and with the timely appearance of the Meteor jet fighters in 1945. But the Germans are about to unleash another round of their wonder weapons, including jets, air-to-air rockets, and anti-aircraft missiles. Will German science be a game-changer once more? One thing is the Allies are inching closer to victory on the technological front. Their nuclear program is nearing completion, and they hope to knock the Nazis out of the war with super bombs.
In the east, the Russians are pitted against the Dnieper-Lovat-Volkhov defensive line, which runs north-south from the Baltic to the Black Sea. They will again need to spill a lot of blood if they want to succeed and one day liberate the motherland.
And finally, in the Pacific, the USA is slowly bringing the war to a successful conclusion, with the triple invasions of Formosa, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa, the last stepping stones before the final battle against the Japanese Home Islands.
