Global Examination #2
Global Examination Vol. 2
Welcome to the exam where failing isn’t an option.
People across the world are randomly pulled into an eerie alternate world where they must survive a series of twisted, life-threatening “examinations”. Each exam is disguised as a school subject—but the questions are riddles, the logic supernatural, and the price of failure is often death.
You Huo wakes up in this bizarre world with a clouded memory, a sharp tongue, and instincts too honed for an ordinary man. Cold, clever, and uninterested in teamwork, he quickly draws attention—for better or worse.
Qin Jiu, an invigilator ranked among the system’s elite, is tasked with keeping examinees in check. But something about You Huo doesn’t fit any pattern he knows—and that makes him dangerous.
As they circle each other through high-stakes challenges and ever-deadlier puzzles, a strange connection begins to form between invigilator and examinee. But in a system designed to break the mind and erase the past, trust may be the most dangerous risk of all.
Darkly atmospheric, sharply intelligent, and laced with slow-burn tension, Global Examination is an addictive unlimited flow danmei novel where every answer could be your last.

“The truth wasn’t always the whole truth. One person’s perspective could be limited.”
I went into this volume already a little spoiled because I checked the carrd for the series, which was completely my fault. I thought it might take away some of the fun, but it really didn’t. If anything, it made me notice the little moments more, especially now that the hint of romance is finally starting to show. I loved seeing You Huo and Qin Jiu’s dynamic shift into something that feels heavier than just banter. They still have that “enemy but not really enemy” thing going on, but there’s this feeling underneath it, like there’s history trying to push its way back up. I’m really into how balanced they are together. You Huo is cold and controlled, while Qin Jiu keeps poking at him with that teasing attitude, and somehow it works so well.
The exam logic in this volume completely messed with my head. A lot of the time, I didn’t fully understand what the system was doing or where its limits were, and I felt just as confused as the examinees. Weirdly, I liked that. It made the whole thing feel unpredictable, like I was stuck in the exam with them and trying to figure out the rules as I went. There were moments where I wanted clearer answers, but I also think the confusion is part of the appeal. The system feels cruel and messy in a way that makes everyone’s reactions more interesting. I liked seeing how different characters dealt with fear, pressure, and survival, even when You Huo and Qin Jiu were still the main reason I stayed hooked.
I also have to talk about the physical book because Rosmei really did a beautiful job. The cover is great, but the dust cover is stunning. Even as a paperback, it still feels premium, which makes reading it feel a little more special. My favorite part of this volume was definitely You Huo and Qin Jiu circling each other with suspicion, trust, and all that tension they don’t fully say out loud. The romance is still subtle, but I could feel it starting, and I loved that slow pull between them. I’m still confused by a lot of the system mechanics, but I’m also curious enough to keep reading because their dynamic is just too good.

Oh we are SOOOOOOO back guys 10/10 I love this book

Another good entry even if the translation used the odd choice of “phishing” instead of “fishing” in a couple areas. I love the hints of You Huo and Qin Jiu’s past relationship and seeing how they naturally gravitate towards each other in the present. I also quite enjoy how well Mu Su Li writes her side characters, none of them get a ton of screen time (except some of the key invigilators)but they are all interesting and in some cases, make you want more- her female characters especially, which is rare for a BL novel.
I got the M edition of the release which came with some wonderful extras like an acrylic plate, pins etc. definitely worth it if you can get it.
I have pre-ordered the next volume and can’t wait until it’s released.
I also really really hope the manhua gets licensed, the art was phenomenal 🤞🏻

The overarching mystery and intrigue of this story is so good that the two of them being in love is simply a bonus to me. The system and its issues, the two of them and their missing memories, and the challenges they are having to face as they try to figure out who they once were. This story is perfectly balanced with action, mystery, and intrigue. The settings are all interesting and engaging. You Huo and Qin Jiu have such insane chemistry it's honestly ridiculous. I would expect nothing less of Mu Su Li though. She has such a way of making these characters who have such perfect sizzling chemistry. A moody quiet one and a talkative snide flirty one. So much fun. Overall I loved the background and information we received in this book and the two of them really stepped up their relationship. I'm so excited to hopefully get my hands on book 3 when it becomes available because this story is fantastic and I am loving every moment of it.

Rosmei's proofreading was fairly sloppy this time, and a character using the word "unaliving" in a verbal conversation made me grimace like a geriatric, but my goodness am I so grateful that I otherwise loved the second volume as much as the first.
Not sure whether to be happy or anxious that this is only the halfway point...it's hard to guess how much longer these two can continue defying the system before something (like their memory) breaks again. But I'm enjoying the journey so much.
There are three "exams" in this volume, kind of. There's the conclusion of the frozen shipwrecks, an extended punishment "clean up session" for our fearless duo, and a cliffhanger Black Plague history exercise that turns out to be a whole lot more complicated - as usual.
I will say that the latter was the least engaging for me thus far; maybe it's because Yuo Huo and Qin Jiu are so overpowered, especially when together, that I never got a real sense of danger. And the narrative flagged a bit on making the side characters as emotionally impactful - which has otherwise been a serious strength of this writer and this story.
Usually I care a lot about the other people caught in the crosshairs of these big adventures, but the two "wives" introduced during this exam got very little development. One was unconscious most of the time, with her personality entirely wrapped up in her love for her absent boyfriend, while the other had an intriguing set of skills that led to very few interactions with the main characters. The rest of the examinees didn't even get names or slivers of personalities, outside of the system rattling off their offscreen punishment session. (Funny, but like the invigilators noted, a lot less stressful when they all jumped into those dangerous waters together, and suffered the consequences together.)
That's intentional to some extent, I think. The second half of the sea monster battles showed how much strength the examinees had when they acted as one group, regardless of the instructions and the attempts to use points to pit them against each other. And the Black Plague group - a fresh crowd of people who hadn't worked together before - acted against all expectations by refusing to sacrifice even past examinees for those much-desired points. They even forgot after a while that they were meant to be listening for those kinds of announcements.
It's a very interesting development. And it largely seems drawn from the magnetic leadership of two men who don't even have to talk about defying the system to get others to follow them.
The system made its biggest error by keeping Yuo Huo and Qin Jiu in the same exams. It honestly might be kind of a plot hole - necessary for the story to proceed, but extraordinarily stupid when you think about how much damage they're doing.
But for the reader? Well, it's perfect.
The emotional development between those two is kind of destroying me, too. I'm not huge on amnesia or past lives stories - I like to see the relationship growth happening in the present timeline, without it relying so much on something we're simply being told had already existed in another form, in a past we didn't get to experience. But that really isn't happening here.
There are some flashbacks in this volume - effectively woven in, showing a devastating history of two brilliant, stubborn, difficult men falling in love and struggling to hide it - and their much larger plans - from everyone around them.
These scenes are important on their own, but they're also used to highlight the chemistry that's been developing in real time, between two men who would clearly be drawn to each other no matter how many times they were torn apart.
It makes it especially funny when the system drones on about how minuscule the chances are of them forming a friendship, based on all its empirical examinations of their personalities. And yet...they get along so naturally, so inevitably, even when they're pitted against each other, or told that they have immense reasons to hate each other.
While the examinees are fading into the background a bit more, the other invigilators are getting fleshed out more - including two new ones who'd known Invigilator A and are completely astonished and horrified to find him forming such a close bond with his arch nemesis, the man who'd supposedly betrayed him.
There's more to come on that, of course, but I don't think for a minute that Qin Jiu was let off "easy" because he sold his lover out. (The going theory, even if no one knew about the secretly in a relationship part.) Still, I haven't been able to pinpoint yet who the mole would've been - is it someone we've even met yet, or will they show up in the next volume?
First, we'll have to see what Qin Jiu's big plan was, and how angry Yuo Huo will be if it turns out to be something that's put him in some sort of self-sacrificing situation.

Everything I liked about the first book wasn't really in this one. The bickering between You Huo and Qin Jiu is no more, they've kind of mellowed out working together. The chemistry between the two disappeared with the loss of bickering. The sudden romantic interest that they are supposed to feel felt too abrupt.
I did however liked the flashbacks (I usually don't.) I felt like it was the only times the characters were allowed to breathe and develop as a character. Because without the exams there's really no plot, no charactersation. The side characters are still shallow. I'm having difficulties keeping them apart.

1. Their dynamic was so weird and their characterization was so shallow. They're basically the same person, which i know was probably on purpose but they could've done better imo
2. If it wasn't for the incessant 'exams' and 'games' there would be no plot tbh
3. Both of their characters were so flat, lowkey i didn't care about any of them. And the romance was so bad, it was about 800pages in but somehow it still felt rushed and outofplace cmon man

Kinda boring halfway through this volume as both of them seem to be very OP in all situations. The relationship between them isn't so much of a mystery it makes me kind of frustrated with how the story plays around it . Maybe I'm wrong and it's not as obvious as it seems , at least I hope so. I do like them as characters and the invigilators are fun so it's not a massive turn off just makes the story drag a little. Let's get to the good bits already!

I got so BORED. Even after one and a half volumes of this novel I can barely distinguish between the MC and ML, I can't remember their names, nothing feels like it has any consequences or actual risk because they're just so cracked at everything. Just bored out of my mind unfortunately
