A Most Revolutionary Watch: A Time Travel Adventure

When history, time-travel and strong women show up in the same story, I'm all ears.  - DNA11221

After devoting his entire life to the exploration of time, Gary Johnson, a seventy-year-old grandfather, finally invented a watch that would transport him back to 1776.

He wanted to witness the signing of the Declaration of Independence. And bring back an original printing to commemorate America's 250th anniversary.

Concerned that a close reading of the entire Declaration might spark another American rebellion, the FBI moved to block Gary's journey. China was even more diabolical, stealing Gary's technology to launch an assassination of George Washington. His premature death would permanently cripple the United States, paving the way for China's global dominance in the twenty-first century.

Undeterred, Gary lands in Philadelphia on July 1, 1776 only to find himself an outsider in a wartime capital, shadowed both by the patriot Committee of Safety and a gang of British thieves. Even more surprising, the journey back in time has rinsed almost a half-century off Gary's life. He's twenty-five years old once again - healthy, handsome and prosperous.

Erin Duffy, widowed at the Battle of Bunker Hill, is a tavern waitress, struggling to support herself and her young sons. She falls for Gary, unaware of his origins, determined to lead him through the pitfalls of colonial life.

A Most Revolutionary Watch blends action, suspense and romance with a fact-filled, behind-the-scenes look at the Declaration of Independence.

I love the short chapters and how they lend themselves to such an easy and quick read. - Michael

Great fun sexy read!

I enjoyed what I call MRW!! It is fast moving, sexy and just fun time travel tale with some history thrown in. The author brings his old friend Nathan Hale ( from Spy & The Seamstress/which I enjoyed immensely) into the tale. The twist of traveling back in time and having the travelers get younger, begs the question, why should they come back?? Can’t wait to see what author Smith creates next!

I really enjoyed this book! The amount of research that went into it is so impressive — the history and stories of the founding fathers are woven in so naturally that I felt like I was learning without even realizing it. It’s informative but never dry, with a great balance of depth and storytelling. By the end, I came away not only entertained but genuinely inspired to dig deeper into this part of history. This was my first audio book with an AI reader and it felt so natural! Highly recommend!

When history, time-travel and strong women show up in the same story, I’m all ears. I found the book to be a fun, fast-paced easy read. I especially enjoyed how the Founding Fathers are intertwined into the story. It is clear that Smith has a command of American revolutionary history and a talent to convey its complexity.

I knew early on that I wasn't going to like this book, but I wanted to power through it since I won it in a Goodreads Giveaway and felt obligated to finish it. I finally stopped at page 163, just couldn't do it anymore. The premise was so clever, but the execution was poor. Focus on the primary time-traveling plot and forget all the attempts at being salacious and titillating. I felt like I was reading a book from the 1970s or 80s, what with all the references to bosoms. Tiresome and outdated.
