I’m not a fan of change. So, when I hear the old bar I work at a couple of nights a week has sold, I wonder if it’s time for me to give up that side gig. It’s not like I need the cash. My job as a full-time firefighter is more than enough to keep me comfortable and plenty busy.
Then I meet the new owner, my new boss, Lizzie Meyer.
She makes me a deal: give her thirty days. If I don’t like the direction she takes the place, I can quit. Simple, right? But nothing feels simple once I’m around her. I try to ignore the pull, but her easy smile, hypnotic green eyes, and that stubborn streak wrapped in determination makes it impossible. The line between professional and personal is clear…until it isn’t.
Just when something real starts to take shape between us, my past stirs—ready to drag its way back into the light and threaten everything we’re beginning to build together.
Lizzie
I’ve spent years dreaming of a place to call my own. Growing up inside the biggest bar and restaurant in my hometown, I learned early on what my calling was. But lately, I’ve wanted something more. Something that isn’t tied to my family’s legacy. I want to build my own.
That dream leads me to Cooper Town, Ohio, a quaint small town with an old bar for sale and enough possibility to make me pack up my life and take a chance.
I know it will take hard work to bring the place back to life, and I’ve got the drive, the grit, and a modest savings account to get started. What I’m not prepared for is Collin Miller, the brooding bartender with a rare, disarming smile and a work ethic that mirrors my own. He’s impossible to ignore, even harder to resist. I try to keep things strictly professional, really, I do, but being around him feels like standing too close to a flame.
My simple request is that he doesn’t break my heart along the way.
Avid reader, writer, mother, and wife! I love to read contemporary romance. Add in a little "spice" or hot guys in uniform pants, and I'm a happy woman. There's just something about diving into a book and engrossing in the magic of your hero and heroine getting their happily ever after.
A brand new series for Lacey, but some familiar characters. In Cooper Town Boys, we have Lizzie coming to town and buys the local bar that Collin works part-time. He of course isn't sure if he'll stay since new owner brings new orders and he has a full-time job, he's a fireman. He agrees to stay for a short time, just to test the waters. He of course stays longer than the agreed upon month. Lizzie does make changes, but none of them are are seen in a negative light. Plus he starts to see Lizzie in a new light a very attractive light. I am here for all of it! This is a wonderful start to another great series!
Collin Miller is walking into the second job he loves almost as much as his current one at the Sycamore Fire Station West, where he is the Chief. He had been going to Chuck’s Bar since he was old enough to drink. It’s a small bar with lots of character. This place is old, but it’s one of my homes away from home. He only worked several nights a week. It was a good way to connect and keep informed as to what was going on in the town. Hence, the regulars greeted him with a wave when he entered, earning him a round of welcome and a hello from the people he’ll be serving drinks to for the next several hours. “Hey, Collin,” Guy the bar tender he’ll be taking over for, threw him a wave and a grin. Collin asked, “How’s it going?” The St. Louis Cardinals are taking on the Chicago Cubs in a much-anticipated rivalry game. But then, Guy the longtime bartender who has been there longer than, Collin. Guy asked if he heard the news that day. He said he couldn't believe it, he got closer to Collin and said, “Chuck sold it.” “You’re sh!ttin’ me. He really did it?” Guy gives him a sad smile and a nod. “Fraid so.”
He gives him a knowing look. “Yeah. He told me earlier when he stopped by. This Friday, we’ll have a new owner.” “Who?” Collin asked, his mind spinning. “I don’t know, but it sounds like he’s from out of town.” He actually prefers the small-town lifestyle, which is why he returned to Cooper Town after he discharged from the Air Force. Cooper Town, Ohio. Home of four-thousand busybodies. And the stories of him and his brothers and his friends growing up? Legendary. There are three Miller boys and one daughter, but don’t let that fool you. Collin’s sister caused just as many sleepless nights. He’s the oldest, by five minutes, before his twin brother, Cade. Then there is their sister, Charli, and a younger brother, Camden. He is nine years younger than Collin’s thirty-two years old. When one of the regulars brings up how quiet it is, Collin says he prefers it that way. The regular states he seems to remember not that long ago, a certain group of boys who’d come in and always got a little rowdy when they were here.
Collin felt his face heat up a bit, knowing he was talking about him, his brothers, and their friends. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. “Sure you don’t.” Collin hears the door open and closes with a thud, and out of the corner of his eye, he catches movement. Wow. The most beautiful woman, Collin has ever seen is walking toward him. She asked a local about beers on tap, and he said sorry no. She then asked for a Coors Light and urged that they think about it. “There’s a regional brand that originated not too far from here.” He said he mentioned it before to Chuck, but he tended to stay with the tried and true. That’s when he asked, “Draft?” That earned him a nod. He felt her eyes on him. Call it a boost to the male ego, but he can’t help but smile a little. She mentioned the slow pace and put a five on the counter. This is after she looked around at the vintage decor. “Not too bad. This is mostly normal for a weeknight.” “You don’t get a lot of women in here?”
“On the weekends, sure. Not as many throughout the weeknights. A few now and again, small groups have a quick drink after work.” “Kinda sad, really. This isn’t a bad place. Could definitely use an update, but it has great bones and probably some interesting history,” she adds, looking up at the ceiling, which is covered with a variety of beer décor and customer-signed dollar bills. She points up and laughs. “I have no idea,” he confesses. “I believe it started well before I was born.” Everything was going well until he mentioned that Chuck was selling Chuck’s Place, and by Friday it would be under new ownership. He said, the charm and bones she talked about would likely all change after Friday, when the out-of-town owner made all the changes, as the other bar did. That’s when Lizzie Meyer said, “You don’t think the new owner would find a way to mix the history with a new style?” “Enticing more customers isn’t exactly changing the vibe,” she states, focused on our conversation.
“It is when your old clientele doesn’t really go there anymore. They don’t want to deal with the uppity college kids who come to down the twenty-four kinds of draft beers.” “Twenty-four? Maybe a couple more, so you can work in some popular imports or maybe that regional brand I mentioned, but twenty-four is too many.” He gave her his complete attention once more. “You seem to know an awful lot about bars.” “I grew up in one, but that’s not a bad thing. My dad runs an amazing establishment. I look up to him a lot.” “Yeah? That’s cool.” “So, what brings you to town?” I find myself asking. “Is it that obvious I’m not from here?” she asks with a grin. “Well, I did grow up here and know just about everyone, so it was a safe assumption.” “I’m here for business,” she replies after another sip. “So, what kind of business?” He finds himself asking, doing anything he can to keep her talking. A light blush creeps up her fair skin. “Oh, well, I’m buying a business.”
The hairs on the back of his neck stand up. “You are?” He asks, his throat suddenly very dry. Green eyes lock with his as she extends her hand. The moment his hand touches her fingers, he feels the sizzle of electricity. “Lizzie Meyer,” she states before going in for the kill. “As of Friday, I’ll be the new owner.” Crap! All she asked from Collin was for him to give her one month. After one month, if he still wanted to leave there would be no questions asked. But at least give her that much time to show what she had planned before he made a hasty exit. He said, Okay. Let’s just say the chemistry between the two of them is as hard to miss as was between her parents and aunts and uncles, back during the days of Burgers and Brews beginnings. So if you like romance and sizzle, two big families who like to meddle in their children’s business. You are in the right place, but know it is in a good way. There is a lot of laughter, turmoil past and present, as well as. There are lessons in learning that it’s okay to accept help when given, and family can be there for you. And it can be without strings.
Hmmmm, I’m trying to figure where to start with my review. So, I’ll just start with the thoughts I had before reading ‘A Simple Request’ ; I was so, so excited for a brand new series and characters from this author. I am always sad letting past characters go, but I was happily surprised by the familiar faces. It was almost like seeing a friend after a long time, and that I was not expecting.
I thoroughly enjoyed Lizzie and Collin as characters. They were some of the most authentic characters I’ve read about in quite a while. They knew who they were and did not deviate away from their true selves. Both devoted to their careers that they always dreamed of. I enjoyed the blue collar lifestyle they both had. It made them extremely relatable. They were genuinely good people with amazing qualities. No negative Nancy energy from either. I loved, loved, loved how much both Lizzie and Collin were so family oriented. I love how involved both of their them were in the day to day lives of their family members.
I do feel like Lizzie and Collins chemistry was off of the charts. Their feelings felt very real from beginning to end. Not only did their inner and outer dialogue showcase that, but their actions did as well.
Now for the part I hate. I truly, truly was falling fast first into ‘A Simple Request’ when it felt like all the sudden the book was just over, even with the epilogues. If I’m honest, I felt like the storyline was just getting started. I felt like Lizzie and Collin was just getting into the thick of what was a relationship. I thought the subplot was one of the biggest points of this book, and just nothing. Granted, it made for no third act breakup, but it left this story lacking in my opinion. I guess I just expected more.
Even though in my opinion this story was lacking, I do think that this series (‘Cooper Town Boys’) is super promising.I look forward to the rest of this series. I think some of these heroes are gonna surprise the living h e double hockey sticks out of me. I am super fluffing excited for Cades story. I can guarantee his is gonna blow my mind because, he’s truly one of a kind.
I am a SUCKER for a second gen story so when I discovered that little miss Lizzie Meyers has her own book, I could not download fast enough!
Lizzie Meyers is all grown up now, and ready to blaze her own path in the bar business. She'd learned all there is to know about owning a successful business from her dad and uncles. That's how she ends up in small town Cooper Town, Ohio purchasing a small bar. Obtaining the keys, getting acclimated, and winning over the regulars was easy. What she never expected was Collin Miller--part time bartender and full time firefighter. Collin has worked at the bar on this days off for years now. He doesn't need the income, but does it as a favor to the previous owner. Now that someone new is coming in, he's thinking maybe its time to step away. However, from the moment he lays eyes on Lizzie Meyer, he feels a connection he never thought he'd feel again. She request 30 days, and if he doesn't like the direction she's taking the bar, he can leave. With each passing day, the mutual connection becomes harder to ignore, and eventually, neither care to ignore it any longer. Pretty quickly, Lizzie proves she is loyal to maintaining the foundation of the bar, and the small town has fallen in love with Lizzie and her ideas. Collin is also head over heels and hopes she chooses to stay loyal to him too...
I DEVOURED this book in one sitting! Collin was such a sweet and swoony MMC, but I really loved the independent and driven women Lizzie grew up to be!! It was incredible catching up with the Burgers & Brew family! The adult relationship between Lizzie and her Daddy Walk was so dang heartwarming and written so perfectly! Lacey introduced us to the Miller's in this book, and I was immediately OBSESSED with the whole family! I cannot wait to become more acquainted with this family as the other siblings get their own story!
Overall, such a fun and feel good romance story! It can be read as a standalone, I highly recommending picking up Lacey's Burgers and Brew Crue series to get Lizzie's full story! (her parent's story is book 1)
Lacey Black is back with a new series Cooper Town Boys.
A simple request has some old favourites to start us out. If you’re a Burgers and Brew fan you’ll be super happy to see the crew and we get plenty of glimpses of them because his is Lizzie Meyer’s love story. Kind of fitting since her dad Walker Meyer was the first in the burgers and brew series to fall in love and now it’s Lizzie’s turn.
Clearly Lizzie is not the Copper Town Boy. No, that role belongs to Colin Miller. He’s a full time firefighter and near by Sycamore but in his days off he’s always out in some hours at the local dive bar. He’s got hero good guy written all over him with a slight grump vibe.
These two get all tangled up when Lizzie buys the dive bar with plans to bring it back to life. For Colin that could mean ruining a place that he’s worked at and been a patron of for a long time and change isn’t always a good thing in his book.
But before he even realises who she is he’s attracted. Fining out she’s the new owner squashes that a little and when it flares back to life the complication of being boss and employee only further confuses things.
Lizzie is pretty level headed and while Colin may have mixed feelings he doesn’t play games.
The biggest problem they face is crossing the working together line and one secret that could cause a rift. It’s not huge but of course in the wrong hands a secret can be destructive.
The side characters were good too. Particularly Colin’s family, Lizzie’s sister and the bar regulars. I’m sure we’ll see more of Colin’s family since I’m pretty sure they are part of the Cooper Townsville Boys but I hope there are more from the other too. Who knows the burgers and brew crew might come back too.
Overall, good start the a new series and a great idea to have characters we already know well. I’m looking forward to more from Copper Town.
A Simple Request Cooper Town Boys Book 1 Lacey Black
Collin and Lizzie
For all the Burgers and Brew Crüe fans, we finally get Lizzie’s story. Lizzie is Walker and Mallory Meyer’s daughter.
This is a separate series and a great way to start. It is interconnected but still a stand alone. Lizzie has grown up around the restaurant/bar world her whole life. Her father and uncles own a very popular and successful business together. And sure, she could have worked with them, and they taught her a lot, but she wanted a place of her own. So when a bar hit the market, about an hour away, she jumped on the chance and moved.
Collin is a full time firefighter and in his free time works at the local bar. He and his siblings grew up in the small town and he liked the vibe, and way of life around there. He also liked how they stayed the same, not being a fan of change. So you can imagine, he wasn’t thrilled to learn that his hometown bar was sold…to a non local. And the introduction to the new owner, didn't exactly go as planned.
Loved everything about this! We have watched Lizzie grow up and so excited to read her story. Love seeing her family and all the extended family. And now we get Collin’s family, who are equally loud, boisterous, and a lot of fun. Collin and Lizzie have chemistry from the start and love their interactions. Great start. Great world building and introductions to the Miller family. Look forward to reading more about them. Thank you #GiveMeBooksPromotions
YES!!! A new series from one of my favourite authors AND the heroine is a familiar character from her Burgers & Brew Crüe series? Sign me up!!!! A Simple Request kicks off this series PERFECTLY with Lizzie Meyer (Walker and Mallory's daughter from Kickstart My Heart) realizing her dream of opening her own bar. She learned from the best, after all! When she finds an old bar in a small town about an hour away from home, she knows she's found something that she can turn into her dream! And, of course, the men from B & B will be there to help in any way they can! *sigh*
Collin Miller works at the bar a couple of nights a week (his main gig being a firefighter for Cooper Town) mainly to help out the previous owner. When he meets the NEW owner, Lizzie, his first thought is to give up the bartending thing. But Lizzie convinces him to give her a shot, 30 days, and if he doesn't like the direction she's taking the bar, he can quit. Simple, right? NOT! The very real chemistry between them is like a separate character! Soooooo hot! The regulars at the bar have a way of communicating what they see happening between them in such a way that is absolutely hilarious! The guys at the firehouse are no better once they all meet Lizzie themselves! The banter is top-notch!
Once again, Ms. Black has given us an incredible start to a series that I know will be AMAZING! A Simple Request is a MUST READ! Collin and Lizzie are right up there with my fave couples from Lacey!
Lacey brings her best in this start to a new series! Lizzie and Collin will steal your heart in this one! I loved it! 5 Cooper Town stars for this one! Lizzie is all grown up, and buying her own bar, a dream she's had since she was young! And it's in a different town so she's not competing with the Burgers and Brew crew, her family bar, so it's a win! When she stops into the bar, she meets the bartender, Collin, who is crazy hot with amazing eyes! Of course he will be her employee with any luck, so she can't do this, even though it's how her parents met! But he's not happy about a new owner coming in and changing everything about the old place, and once she lets him know who she is, he's embarrassed to say the least! Can she win him over and keep him on staff, while fighting her attraction to him? Collin is a full time firefighter, and works the bar when he's off from work. When he meets Lizzie, he can't believe how beautiful she is, and when he finds out she's the new owner, oh boy! He's definitely attracted to her, but he has to keep his hands to himself! He just wants to help her as best he can and agrees to give her thirty days to see if he likes her changes or not! But will he be able to just be her employee and not want to cross that line? Lacey wrote one heck of a story here for these two! And I'm so invested in this new series I can't wait for the next book to come out! Grab this one asap!
A Simple Request was such a cozy surprise. I went in expecting an easy, feel-good story (and it was) but it also had this charming small-town warmth that pulled me right in. Lizzie and Collin’s chemistry isn’t loud or dramatic; it just kind of builds quietly until you realize how well they fit together. Lizzie is independent without being overbearing, and you can tell she was raised to trust herself and work hard. Watching her move to a new town and put her own stamp on the bar was so satisfying. She makes changes, but in a way that shows she really cares about the people and the place. It’s impossible not to root for her. And Collin’s got that quiet, steady energy that makes you feel instantly at ease. He’s a firefighter, helps out at the bar, adores his family, and just seems like a genuinely solid guy. He held back at first but once he starts opening up to Lizzie, it’s just really sweet to watch. Their relationship unfolds naturally, no insta-love, no forced tension, just two people getting to know each other and realizing how well they click. I loved the little moments: the teasing, the unspoken glances, the gradual shift from coworkers to something more. The families on both sides add so much heart. I wish there’d been a bit more emotional depth near the end — it felt like the story still had more to give. Still, I had such a good time reading this. It’s sweet, warm, and full of people you actually want to hang out with.
A Simple Request is a heartfelt small-town romance that blends steady emotional growth with undeniable chemistry. Collin Miller is the kind of hero readers instantly gravitate toward—grounded, dependable, and quietly intense. A full-time firefighter who bartends on the side for familiarity more than money, Collin resists change with good reason, making his slow unraveling in the face of Lizzie Meyer all the more satisfying. Lizzie is equally compelling: determined, hardworking, and brave enough to chase a dream that’s entirely her own. Her move to Cooper Town and purchase of the old bar feels authentic, rooted in passion rather than impulse. The push-and-pull between her vision for the bar and Collin’s attachment to the past creates natural tension, while their shared work ethic and mutual respect form a solid foundation for something deeper. What truly elevates this story is its emotional balance. The romance simmers rather than explodes, allowing trust, vulnerability, and real stakes to take center stage—especially when Collin’s past resurfaces and threatens the fragile happiness they’re building. A Simple Request is a warm, engaging romance about taking chances, letting go of fear, and trusting that love can be worth the risk. Perfect for readers who love small-town settings, strong characters, and a romance that feels both tender and real.

Second generation stories always hit the mark especially when the parents are from my favorite series from Lacey! I really enjoyed this story and liked the characters and the banter and the big family on both sides. This is a light read, no big drama moments. I really needed a little lightness!
Collin and Lizzie come together when she takes over the bar he helps out at on his days off. Collin is a firefighter in his small town and when he can he lends his time to the bar that he loves. Lizzie is trying to make a name for herself and doing what she loves and knows. Growing up in a bar and shown by some of the best on how to run one, she plans her future. She did not plan to fall for an employee.
The characters were easy to like and down to earth. I liked the way both characters didn't really get into any drama and were pretty honest and open with each other. These two were definitely meant to meet and fall in love. The attraction was there as well as the comfort, something both of them needed.
My favorite part is both characters have big families and they definitely give each other a hard time and meddle a little.
I am excited for thes next book and look forward to what storyline will be brought to the next one...
A Simple Request by Lacey Black is a heartfelt, slow-burn romance that’s as much about finding yourself as it is about finding love. Lizzie is finally stepping out on her own, buying her own bar and working to build a name separate from her famous Burgers and Brew family. Watching her navigate independence while still being supported by the people who love her most makes her journey feel authentic and relatable.
Collin is a fantastic match for her — firefighter, former military, and part-time bartender who isn’t exactly thrilled about changes to his favorite bar. His resistance feels real, not overdone, which makes it even better when Lizzie’s passion and vision start to win him over. Their chemistry builds naturally, and the slow development of their relationship makes every step forward feel earned.
I especially loved that we still get time with the Burgers and Brew family. Their presence adds humor, warmth, and that sense that Lizzie may be on her own path, but she’s never truly alone.
If you love slow-burn romance, strong family dynamics, and characters who grow into themselves while falling in love, this is a really satisfying read.
Lacey Black kicks off her new small-town/big-family centric Cooper Town Boys series with A Simple Request, a charming, slow-burn small-town romance that simmered with tension and tender moments. Lizzie, the independent and determined new owner of the town pub, arrives in Cooper Town to chase her dream of owning her own bar. She hired Collin, a firefighter in town, to work part-time as a bartender. Collin isn’t looking for a relationship and Lizzie was completely focused on her new business, but things got complicated quickly by the undeniable sparks flying between them.
Black used the forced proximity of their workplace dynamic to build that delicious, escalating chemistry that was turning every shared shift and lingering glance into a stepping stone toward something deeper. As their connection grew from respectful and professional to something fiercely passionate, the small-town setting added warmth and a sense of community that made their journey all the more engaging. I was so happy that Lizzie finally got her story, and Lacy Black did a wonderful job bringing it to life. Lizzie Meyer has achieved her dream of owning her own bar. In the process, she meets the broody bartender and firefighter, Collin Miller, who isn’t a fan of change and is skeptical about what Lizzie has planned for the old place. Their story is a sweet, small-town romance with the perfect slow burn, balanced by steamy moments and plenty of witty banter. I loved the cameo appearances from the Cruë gang and really enjoyed getting to know Collin’s family and friends along the way. Cade was absolutely hilarious, and I already can’t wait for his story. Overall, this book was well written and a fantastic start to a new series—easily a five-star read. Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book and am providing an honest and unbiased review. Despite receiving it for free, I have purchased the ebook version of this book, and already preordered the rest of the books in this series, for my Kindle.
Every one has a dream and for Lizzie she is about to make hers a reality. Yes it means moving away from her family even if it’s only an hour away to a small town called Copper Town. Which is the home town for Colin who likes things simple so when he finds out that the bar he helps out at is being sold Colin has to decide if he should stay working there or not, change isn’t easy for same folks least of all Colin so when he does meet the new owner the chemistry between Lizzie and Colin would definitely need help from the fire crew (Colin’s main job). Lizzie convinces Colin to give her some time see what he thinks of the changes she intends to make unbeknownst to him Lizzie dad in none other then Walker Meyer so she has plenty of help and insight of how a bar work thanks to her dad and uncles. How things work out is well worth the read for you to find out if you like small town HEA then read this book Lacey Has given us a fab read and some lovely characters in this book that in looking forward to reading more about them.

First off, this is about Lizzie, Mallory's daughter from "Kickstart My Heart" from the Burgers & Brew Crue series of which I have only read the one book. I loved that story. Now Lizzie is 28 and has purchased a bar about an hour away from her family. Collin, a firefighter who moonlights bartending was unsure about staying on but strikes a deal with Lizzie to stay for 30 days. Very minor drama with his ex but our PERFECT h Lizzie does not let it turn in anything because she's perfect (I just love her, so happy with her getting a book.) Anyway, it was a little slow with the relationship building and I did feel their chemistry but I would also have like "more" of them as a couple. This is the first in a spinoff series so it's expected there is a bit of setting the stage for future books. Overall, I enjoyed it very much and liked the couple a lot. One last thing, I thought the little bit with the "potential stage 5 clinger" would turn into some drama but it didn't and I think it could have been left out easily.
I was so excited to finally get my hands on this book! Lizzie Walker has finally grown up and is ready to grab a hold of her dream and not let it go! The dream? Owning her own bar – without any hint of recognition that her family owns the famous Burgers & Brew!
Collin, who happens to be a part-time bartender at the bar she is buying, is not all that happy about having a new owner take over. He likes the status quo and really does not want any changes to be made. Well, a few days later and with a simple request to give her 30 days to before he makes any decisions about staying or leaving… Lizzie needs to bring on her A game!
After working so closely together they both realize that there is “something” about each other and boy is their chemistry a good one! Let us just say that opening a “new” bar brings lots of ups and downs – but some of those are found between the sheets!
Loved this story and the characters - especially that the Burgers & Brew Crue are sprinkled throughout the storyline! Highly recommend this book!!
What an incredible start to a series! It struck the perfect balance of introducing a new setting, fresh characters, and some familiar faces. I’ve always hoped for Lizzie’s story, and Lacey absolutely delivered. Lizzie is every bit a Meyer, and the first meeting between her and Collin was so well done—it perfectly highlighted how much she takes after Walker. There’s a whole new family to fall in love with, and Cade has to be my favourite so far. His one-liners were spot on, and I can’t wait to learn more about him because there’s definitely more to his story. Collin doesn’t quite know what to make of Lizzie at first, but I loved watching her prove him wrong at every turn. And when he falls, he falls hard. If you’re a fan of Burgers & Brew, you’ll love the cameos in this book—they brought back all the feels I had when I read the first book in that series. I’m so excited to see what’s in store for the rest of this series. A perfect beginning!

A simple Request from author Lacey Black is a brand new series starter to her new series The Cooper Town Boys. I love a good Second generation story and I ate this like candy.
Our FMC Lizzie Lou is all grown up. Lizzie is the daughter of Walker and Mallory from Burgers and Brew book 1 , Kick start my heart. She has just bought a local bar in Cooper Town and wants to put her touches on it , without her family’s money or influence, she wants to run it alone.
Collin, our MMC works as a fireman after a stint in the Air Force and also works at the bar on his off days. Collin isn’t a fan of change and loves the local bar. He’s not looking for love or a relationship but can’t help but being drawn to her.
Their attraction was fire and the way Collin would just help her even just showing up to make sure she ate and to take out the trash for her … well that’s a swoon worthy man right there.
I absolutely can’t wait to dig into more details about Collin’s family especially his twin brother Cade. He is so charismatic it personality but I think there’s more to him and look forward to him and the rest of the series.
Great start to a new family and if you were a fan of Burgers and Brew you will want to add this to your Tbr.
Lizzie wants to follow in her father’s footsteps, but she also wants to forge her own path, so she decides to purchase a pub in another town. When Colin, one of the bartenders, wants to quit as he believes the pub will no longer be the same she convinces him to give her a month to show him that rather than it being a negative it will be a positive.
Colin works at the pub because he wants to and not because he needs to as he is also a firefighter. He isn’t happy to find out that the pub has been sold and was willing to walk away until he met Lizzie. He now finds himself losing the battle between the personal feelings he has for her vs the professional relationship they share.
You will love the small-town atmosphere as well as the friends and family that are incorporated into the story. The characters draw you in and is apparent to everyone that they make perfect partners in all areas of their lives.
4.5⭐️ This is the first book in a new series, and I was ecstatic to discover it’s Lizzy’s story, the daughter from Kickstart My Heart. I loved all the cameos from the Burgers and Brew Crew series. While it’s connected, this can absolutely be read as a standalone… or read before or after Burgers and Brew Crew and enjoyed just as much.
I loved the pacing of this book. It struck the perfect balance between insta-attraction and a slow build to the first kiss. This is quintessential small-town romance, complete with strong family ties and lovable side characters.
This was a feel-good, low-angst comfort read. It was spicy without being too much, and I adored the connection between Lizzy and Collin, from their first meeting to the moment they finally give in to their attraction.
Collin is as firefighter and part time bartender, who does not like change. Meeting Lizzie as the new bar owner sends both their worlds for a spin that neither of them saw coming. Their slow-burn chemistry between these two sent my kindle on fire.
Lizze has learned a thing or two from her father and her "uncles" and she see what she could do with the bar. She understands the reluctant for change but she determined to see it happen. Collin is not an easy man, but he is the man for her. Watching them become more was a delight and I was rooting extra hard for these two to find a way for HEA.
Lacey Black delivers us books with all the feels and this one was no exception. You can't help but love the MC with all their quirks. I'm so excited to see where this series takes us next.

A new series and I think I will be adding some book boyfriends. I will be loving the Cooper Town Boys if they continue like this book. If you are a Burgers & Brew fan, we are looking at second generation as Lizzie is the daughter of Walker Meyer.
Collin Miller, firefighter, part time bar tender in his local dive bar, and oldest of the Miller siblings. Lizzie is getting restless in the family bar she grew up in. Looking to put her own stamp on a bar, and follow her own dreams. She finds what she is looking for in Cooper Town, OH. She is not afraid of hard work, but the charm of Collin might derail her “keep it professional” work ethic. They have the work ethic, but also the chemistry. He gives her 30 days, she hopes her heart stays intact. The two meddling families are extra fun!
Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
Lizzie has spent her whole life in and around bars—after all, her parents met at her father’s bar, which he owns with her uncles (shout out to the Burger’s and Brue Crew!). So when the chance comes to chase her dream and buy a bar in Cooper Town, she doesn’t hesitate. Collin may be a full-time firefighter, but he’s kept his shifts at the bar to help out the owner. When he finds out it has been sold to a new owner, he figures it’s finally his time to walk away. But when Lizzie asks him to stay on for thirty days, she disarms him and he agrees. Collin worries Lizzie will strip away the magic that made the bar so special. Lizzie, though, is determined to honor the bar as it is while making it even better. As the brooding bartender watches her pour her grit and heart into preserving its spirit, he starts to see her differently. The more he admires her dedication, the harder it becomes to ignore the growing attraction between them. So what if she’s his boss?
Really enjoyed the writing style of this book—it was easy to get into and made for such a fun, light read. As a spinoff of Burgers and Brue, I was especially excited to see Lizzie’s story come to life, and it did not disappoint.
Lizzie was such a standout character for me. She’s strong, witty, and knows exactly what she wants, which made her perspective really refreshing. Her connection with Collin felt natural right from the start, and I found myself just as drawn to his character. Their dynamic was engaging without feeling forced.
One of my favorite things about this book was the lack of heavy drama. It was a lighthearted, feel-good story that introduced new characters while still feeling connected to the original series. Overall, it felt like the perfect start to a new series, and I’m really looking forward to what comes next.
This is the first in a new series, and this is Collin and Lizzie’s story. Collin is a firefighter, who works a couple of nights a week in an old bar in town, while Lizzie has a dream of owing her own bar away from her family’s legacy, so she buys the bar in Cooper Town. The sparks fly between Collin and Lizzie, and they try to keep their relationship professional. This is a well written easy to read, slow burn, with family, friendships, emotions, tension, boss / employee, workplace romance, forced proximity, taking chances, determination, challenges, humour, witty banter, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, quirky small-town romance. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
love me a second generation story. Seeing how the characters grew up is just so fun to me. Lizzie is Walker and Mallory Walkers oldest daughter. She decides to buy a bar on her own after growing up at Burgers and Brew, her family's business. m Collin is a firefighter and part time bartender at what becomes The Tipsy Lizard (I LOVE this name!). -o Collin and Lizzie have instant chemistry, although they try to fight it and keep it professional, it's honestly stronger than they realize. Something like that you just can't let go. Collin's family is one of those family's you just want to be a part of instantly. They're the ones there for you no matter what. Collin is one of four siblings and I cannot wait for his twin brother, Cades, story next!
I was so excited for this new series from my Ride or Die author Lacey Black. And Collin and Lizzie’s story did not disappoint. Chemistry off the charts!
Collin’s bar that he works at gets a new boss - enter Lizzie, the new boss. They strike a deal to give her a chance for 30 days. The flirting, the banter and the dirty talking - next level. Lacey has a knack for making you feel the intensity and chemistry.
Lacey also has top notch found family in all her books. She does this so well. Her side characters and family members in her books are some of my favorites and what always brings me back for their stories. You can’t help but fall in love with them!
If you need witty banter, top-notch chemistry, found family all in a work place romance - this is it!
