As a bookseller, Nia saved up for years for her dream vacation—drinking champagne on a beach with her favorite books. But her dream turns into a nightmare when she's kidnapped by a muscular, tattooed jerk of a fey named Raphael.
Yes, kidnapped.
It turns out Nia has a magic power, and Raphael demands that she train at Camelot's elite academy for spies. Raphael is hellbent on revenge against an evil Fey king, certain that Nia's powers can help. But Nia is in way over her head—asthmatic and out of shape. She'll be lucky to get out of there alive.
Still, there's no escape when Raphael is watching her every move. He's lethal, dangerous, and hot as hell. When they're sent on a dangerous missions together, he becomes harder to resist. Touching him is playing with fire. Is she ready to get burned?

I really enjoyed this book, narration was fantastic! I love a full cast audiobook, and while I don't typically like all the added noise to graphic audios it was not overwhelming in this one, except in a few places which I appreciate.
King Arthur lore mixed with fey & the current human world made for an interesting meshing of the worlds. Nia is a demi fey in hiding, taking a vacation in France when she sees a group of demi fey looking lost and decides to help them before they are discovered & killed. She ends up on the ship they are escaping on which is going to Avalon Tower a spy academy where she will train to use her ability to null the mist. There was not a lot of schooling going on, so the academy part of things does not play a big role in the plot, but there are a lot of missions she is sent on. Not a huge fan of the romance, it was just lackluster, but I also don't think Raphael is end game either, so no matter!
Okay this book was absolutely amazing! I did a tandem read by both reading it as an E-book and listening to the graphic audio. Which I honestly would not recommend seeing as they’re very different 😂. But at least I know that now and still enjoyed it! I gave it 5/5⭐️ and I’d say spice is a 0.5/🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️.
In this story you get to follow Nia, an ordinary human on vacation in France. Only is everything as ordinary as she thinks? As she tries to help Demi-fey who are fugitives she finds herself sent into the middle of an upcoming war and to train in their academy. As she learns more about herself she realizes two things, one is shes starting to catch feelings for someone she shouldn’t, and second she needs to help them with everything she’s got.
I absolutely loved every second of this book and I will now have to get them as paperbacks so I can re-read them because the audio book skipped some stuff. I can’t wait for a re-read on this one and if you’re a lover of magical stories with romance twinkled in them that doesn’t overtake the story then Avalon Towers is a definite must read!
Avalon Tower delivers a fresh urban fantasy twist by weaving fae lore into the legend of King Arthur, and I really enjoyed how the story balanced familiar myth with something more magical and modern. The worldbuilding and premise are strong, and the book both starts and ends on a high note, pulling you in quickly and leaving you satisfied by the conclusion. I listened to the GraphicAudio version, and while the full-cast production was immersive, there were moments where it felt a bit overstimulating with all the layered sound effects and voices competing for attention. The pacing is definitely fast, but at times the plot felt like it got a little lost in the movement, making it harder to stay grounded in the story’s direction. Overall, it’s an entertaining read for anyone who loves Arthurian-inspired urban fantasy with fae elements—even if the execution can feel a little chaotic along the way.
This was a good time. I enjoyed the references to and draws on the King Arthur lore, mixed with the spy training plot was a refreshing story. Though, it seemed more focused on actual missions than training. There are more twists and turns coming, I just know it. I’m excited to see where it goes.
Loved the Graphic Audio version took good choices of VAs. I didn’t miss the sneak peek of Gabriel Michael’s voice at the end there too. Hoping that means we’ll get more of him and his character in the second book. 🤞
Why didn't I find this book sooner??? This book was just a good fricken time. The pacing was perfect and kept me engaged throughout. I enjoyed the characters, and I felt like the back story was just enough to explain the current situation.
The ending of this book??? What a cliff hanger! Thankfully, this is a completed trilogy so no waiting needed before picking up the next one.
So why did I only rate it 4 stars vs 5? While it was so good, and I think the series will just get better from here, I was missing a little something on the character development. All that said, I can't wait to keep reading the series.
Oh, and I totally recommend the dramatized audio adaptation. It was just a fun way to read/listen and done well!
3.5 stars for me . It was a fun story, but after the good start I could not find the plot anymore. Too much happens with different people that I lost interest in the story The bullying part at the academy is not really important to the story and the romance feels a bit fake. Too bad that some really good parts( invading in thoughts of the prince, having two powers and the lady of the lake part) are dropped into the story but never explained.
I didn't really enjoy the dramatized audiobook. I especially didn't care for Raphael's voice actor but the storyline was interesting. The mix of modern day and Fey and the spy academy was intriguing. I enjoyed the main character although it looks like she might be some kind of ultimate powerful person which I don't love. I will continue with the series but am going to try and find a regular audiobook or just eyeball read it instead.
I didn't mind the FMC voice narrator, but the voice narrator for Raphael, ruined the story for me. Voices can make or break an experience. He sounds like he is a voice actor from a children's animated television show. I only do immersive reads and the Graphic Audio didn't work for me with this story. There is something else about the Graphic Audio that I didn't like, but I can't quite place it. I'll just enjoy this book with my own voices in my mind.
I listen to a lot of Graphic Audios, and I haaaaaatteeeee this male narrator. He makes me imagine a pervy version of Prince William in pantaloons. I have more thirst for Shrek than the imagine of this man in my mind.
Anyway, the book was alright. It wasn’t anything spectacular, but I liked it more than I hate it.
This was such a great listen. The voices were perfect and of course I have a new book boyfriend. Really enjoyed the storyline and of course that cliffhanger. I can’t wait for the next graphic audio release but at the same time I want to pick up the next book.
I really enjoyed this world and can't wait to read more. the graphic audio was excellent and really helped with the story. yes it's similar to other stories with the knights of the round table and Camelot modern retelling but bringing the fay in was interesting. the romance was well built up,i didn't love the actor who did the MMC but I got over it.
Great start to the series. I should have done my review when I finished. Since I didn't, this will be short. This series is once again a series that I started to listen to Gabriel Michael 😅😉. Too bad he plays the fmc's father! I'm excited about book 2 to see where the book goes. Book 1 ends on a slight cliffhanger.
I just listened to the graphic audio, and I finished it in 2 days. I should've known I'd be addicted because I finished Frost and Nectar SO fast too.
Halfway through the book I ordered indie copies of books 1-3 in this series. Absolutely hooked. Before I finished, I also snagged book 2's graphic audio, and I'm 45% of the way through it. 😅
This was good. def something different from my normal dark romance. This Graphic Audio was amazing and just love the characters. When she made him call himself a twat in front of everyone made me goggle so much!!!!!
Honestly not bad! I didn’t see the end coming. I hope there’s a bit more action in the second book! I feel like this was a lot of world building preparing for the rest of the series. I love a strong FMC!
The more I read the more critical I am when giving stars. The graphic audio held this book up for me. I felt like book one was a good intro, hopefully a warm up to a meatier and more complex story in book two.
⭐️3.5 I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Wasn’t it the greatest. No. But the ending made me want more. The pacing was good. And I love a good graphic audio. Definitely a fun listen.
It was ok. I probably wouldn’t have liked it as much if it wouldn’t have been the Graphic Audio version. I’ve read many other fantasy series that I like better.
I think they did a great job narrating this one! It has been awhile since I physically read the book so I can't remember if much changed or was left out. but I had a great time listening!
