When I review 4-koma, it’s important to note that I find that they run very, very long in terms of reading time, despite the low page counts. I mention this constantly because, honestly, it does make it harder for them to sustain my interest.
This is a tried and true premise - a young demon (with an embarassing costume) is forced to deal with the human world and all its foibles. While not nearly as strong as The Demon Girl Next Door, this does offer some solid laughs.
Allura and her familiar, Elena, are here to steal dark energy and blah blah. This quickly translates into working at a konbini and calling everybody filthy humans. Plus being haughty when your job basically puts you at the bottom rung of employment.
There’s definitely a hint of New Game! and Bocchi the Rock! here as well. Allura is quickly surrounded by a gaggle of quirky female coworkers, including an unflappable one, a harried boss, and a wannabe mangaka.
The joke density is decent and they do keep the scenarios changing up, offering opinions on Osaka’s nightlife, employee reviews, and making fun of Allura’s living conditions. None of the characters are bad either, which makes them generally fun to hang out with.
I think, if anything, reading it all in a big volume does hinder my enjoyment and that is, again, my usual issue with all the 4-koma I read, honestly. Okay, all of them that aren’t Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun. It’s also more of a blend of old things rather than anything new; we’ve certainly seen this before.
Overall, it’s a good start to a series and I didn’t mind my time with it at all. With my own caveats aside, I think there’s more than enough to enjoy here and it hits more than it misses. Which not every series like this can say.
3.5 stars - I’m torn whether to round this up, but I feel my own reading experience keeps it from the level of some of the other series I mentioned that are better at holding my attention. Still recommended and I’ll likely read more of it.

This was really cute! I enjoyed seeing the misadventures of an ancient demon learning how to work at a convenience store. The raven familiar was really cute. I appreciate that no one's super sexualised or weird in this; it's just kind of a silly, cozy, and fun time.

A cute and wholesome slice of life manga. There is a lot of text so it takes a bit longer to get through but enjoyable overall.
