Two storm chasers find a love that could blow them away in this electric debut romance.
Wedding photographer Sloane Michaels might spend most of her year running after brides, but she lives for the six weeks each spring she chases tornadoes instead. When the prestigious magazine Nature Shots announces a cover contest, Sloane knows that winning could be the chance she needs to break up with taffeta for good and establish herself in landscape photography.
The last thing she needs is a distraction in the form of reckless “Wild Wes” Talbot. A legend among storm chasers, he’s been Sloane’s close, personal frenemy for the last decade and is the man to beat for the cover contest.
Sloane isn’t surprised when Wes gets in an accident that jeopardizes his season. But with an active weather pattern emerging, she doubles down on her need to beat Wes fair and square, and begrudgingly invites him to join her for the remainder of the season.
As they race through hail, high winds, and stormy skies, Sloane realizes that Wes might be more than the rich, flirty, Texas wildcard she thought she knew — and that the feelings blooming between them are more charged and dangerous than the storms they’re chasing.
Heather Frances is a writer, photographer, lifelong weather nerd and occasional storm chaser cleverly disguised as an adult with a day job in finance (though she really prefers writing kissing books). When not at home in New England drinking far too much coffee, you’ll find her somewhere with questionable cell phone service, camera in hand.
this story follows sloane michaels, who is a wedding photographer, but her true passion is chasing tornadoes every spring. she wants to win a big photography contest to prove she can be a professional landscape photographer and finally quit shooting weddings. however, she has a rival: wes talbot. wes is famous for being a reckless storm chaser, and he is also the person sloane most wants to beat in the contest. but one day wes gets into an accident, and even though they have been competitive rivals for ten years, sloane decides to let him join her for the rest of the storm season. she wants to win, but she wants to beat him while he’s at his best. as they travel together through dangerous storms, sloane starts to see a different side of wes. she realizes he isn’t just a rich, carefree flirt. soon, she discovers that the sparks flying between them are just as exciting and unpredictable as the storms they are chasing.
i really enjoyed the beginning of this book. i absolutely loved the chemistry between sloane and wes. it is a classic rivals-to-lovers story. since the book is told only from sloane’s point of view, we don’t get to see much of what wes is thinking. this makes it very sweet when you realize that he actually fell first and harder.
even though the book was fun, i felt like the pacing was off. at times, the story dragged on for too long, but then other parts felt like they happened way too quickly. the flow of the plot was a bit uneven. the third act breakup was also very very unnecessary here which took all the fun.
to be honest, it is not a bad book at all. especially for a debut novel. i did enjoy reading it, but i felt like there was still a lot missing to make it truly great. there is room for improvement, but it shows a lot of promise. i would absolutely recommend it if you are looking for a light, fun romance, as long as you don't mind a few pacing issues. it was a solid start for the author.
⤿ rivals to lovers ⤿ storm chasers ⤿ he falls first ⤿ shower selfies ⤿ child free hea ⤿ he takes care of her ⤿ he cooks for her ⤿ black cat x golden retriever
Turns out reading about storm chasing isn’t as exciting as watching it in a movie.
I was really into this book at first, but it started to drag around 70% and I got super bored.
One issue was the pacing. They kiss around 20% to shoo away a girl that’s being clingy (who we literally never see again, which is kind of hilarious), and by 40% they’re basically a couple. While I loved seeing them get to know each other, the constant driving around and taking pictures eventually just got old.
The third act breakup was a total mess. Wes does something dumb and Sloane flat out refuses to hear him out. Her reaction felt so unfair. She took all her insecurities out on him even though he was great the entire book. Thinking back, there were so many instances where she was so mean and judgmental.
I wanted to give this 4 stars, but that unnecessary drama at the end turned me off so much.

✎ᝰ.┊ pre-read: It’s my birthday and I’m finally starting this cute lil summer romance! This is giving me major Twisters vibes, and I need that same mix of adrenaline and chemistry!!
⬫ ⬪ ⬫ Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc!
thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. all opinions are my own.
brb on my way to rewatch twisters!!!
i INHALED this book - literally so bingeable in the best way possible. i think this is going to be such a perfect summer read, and it perfectly encapsulated the feeling and vibe of summer tornado chasing (and the movie twisters of course).
very done rival to lovers where they actually banter with each other (a lot of fun btw). i also will always eat up a romance where the MMC falls first and harder, and this was no exception. the way wes cares for sloane was so adorable and i loved all of the small moments between them where he showed her that not only did he pay attention to her, but he truly wanted to be there to take care of her. the migraine scene was PERFECT and had me giggling and kicking my feet.
i do wish we got a bit more of the actual storm/tornado chasing. this focuses a lot on photography, which certainly enjoyed, but i think i would have liked a bit more action. the side characters all felt extremely two dimensional, but it didn’t bother me too terribly. also, wes does something towards the end of the book that quite honestly irrritated the hell out of me (though i did appreciate how he actually gave her the space she asked for).
overall, LOVED this book and i highly recommend this one!!
also can we take a moment to appreciate this cover?? so so good.
I was intrigued by this story even before this incredible cover existed—just from the synopsis! I haven’t read a plot like this before! The main characters are photographers and storm chasers. Sloane dreams of winning a contest and landing the cover of the prestigious Nature Shots magazine, but standing in her way is her longtime rival, “Wild Wes” Talbot. But when Wes gets into an accident and they end up in the same car, Sloane realizes he’s not who she thought he was.
This is an amazing debut! Heather Frances is a storm chaser herself, and it’s clear she knows what she’s writing about! It was so fresh, exciting, and informative—I could picture everything in my head like a movie! Heather gave us yet another perfect MMC! I fell in love with Wes; he cared so much for Sloane and helped her open up so that she could finally start putting herself first! The migraine scene with Sloane had me melting! And the banter and chemistry between them are incredible! You really have to read this yourself!
The author also touches on many important topics, like being a woman in a male-dominated field, self-sacrifice for others, and parent-child relationships. I devoured this book and now can’t wait for her new releases!
𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬: ✓ rivals to lovers ✓ he falls first ✓ road trip ✓ forced proximity ✓ storm chasers ✓ only one car/bed
Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group (Berkley) for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
After watching Twisters, I got to know about storm chasers. I thought it was an interesting concept to read a romance book about it.
Sloane is a wedding photographer but each year she takes time off work for six weeks to chase and photograph storms with her friends. That includes Wes, who is known to be reckless and kind of famous for his storm photography.
The main trope in the book is enemies to lovers but it was apparent from the beginning that it was one sided. Wes is the definition of a man who yearns. He fell first and fell harder. Sloane was judgmental and dismissive of Wes initially, based on his public persona. I loved how Wes was able to get Sloane to open up and admit to herself how much she has been struggling with taking on so many responsibilities. I really felt bad for Sloan having to deal with the family issues involving her mother and siblings.
The book also effectively portrays the challenges women face in male-dominated fields. Sloan’s fight for recognition and respect among her male colleagues was depicted with striking realism.
This book was action packed and fast paced, with plenty of tender and emotional moments between the main characters.
Thank you Berkley Publishing Group for the ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

Thank you so much to Berkley and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review Chase Me If You Can!
Chase Me if You Can was such a fun debut novel! I spent so much of this book kicking my feet, giggling, and blushing over Wes and Sloane. I also spent more time crying over bits and pieces of this story than I think Heather probably intended, but to be seen and taken care of is to be loved. Because I related so closely to Sloane, her internal battles really struck home for me.
Sloane is the oldest daughter who has spent her entire life filling the shoes of her mother, a woman who was always out and about and putting herself before her children. Now, as an adult, Sloane is not only taking care of her mother and her constant “damsel in distress” act, but also running her wedding photography business. She’s grown up constantly filling everyone else’s cup, and because of that, she doesn’t know how to fill her own or let herself be taken care of.
For six weeks every year, Sloane takes time for herself to go storm chasing, and this year she has a mission. Nature Shots announces a cover contest, and Sloane knows this could be her big break. Winning would mean breaking into a male-dominated field and finally being taken seriously. That is, until Wes comes into the picture and is quite literally yearning for Sloane to let him in. When storm season arrives and Wes wrecks his truck, Sloane invites him to join her on the trip to get the shot of her career.
Though I would have loved to see this story play out from both Wes and Sloane’s POVs, there was something really special about only having Sloane’s. Leaving Wes and his thoughts open-ended at times kept me constantly questioning his intentions and wondering if he would slip back into his “Wild Wes” persona.
Sloane’s character was so beautifully complicated, and we get to watch her work through the anxieties of letting Wes get close and lowering the walls she’s kept up for so long. As someone who has been in a similar situation, struggling to accept care from others while constantly pouring into everyone else’s cup, I felt like I was looking in a mirror, hence all the tears I was shedding! I could feel everything Sloane was feeling. Her character was expertly written, and I was rooting for her from page one all the way to the very last page of Chase Me if You Can.
This book was both spicy and fun! I’d say it lands right in the middle, not overly spicy, but just enough to keep me satisfied. The chemistry and passion between these two are as charged as all the storms and tornadoes they’re chasing. And let’s talk about the “spicy photography” scene. I was kicking my feet and giggling like a teenage girl.
Overall, Chase Me if You Can was such a fun, spicy, and important debut novel. I’m already so excited to see what Heather Frances has up her sleeve next. I truly can’t sing enough praises for this book, and I already know it’s going to be one I’ll be thinking about for a long, long time! ✨📖🌪️
Chase Me If You Can is such a fun debut romance! This cover had my attention from the very first time I saw it and I could not wait to dive into the book once I saw the tropes too. Rival storm chasers, forced proximity (traveling together), he falls first. I really enjoyed this one and I’m excited for what the author writes next!
Sloane and Wes have been in the same circle for a while, they’re both storm chasers and nature photographers (she also works as a wedding photog when it’s not storm season) who live and work around the same storms. This storm season, Sloane really wants to win the photography contest for a weather magazine, not only to be the first woman photographer they’ve featured on the cover, but also to just get that perfect shot Wes has won before, and Sloane would love to win over him of course too. When his car breaks down in the height of storm season, she finds herself offering to share her ride with Wes and the tension and chemistry kicks into high gear as they storm chase right alongside together!
I really liked this one. We do only get Sloane’s POV so I would have enjoyed his as well. There were times they do get into deeper convos together of sharing their lives, pasts, etc as they’re roadtripping/traveling together and we are told about it happening but I would have enjoyed those convos on page. I found myself really reaching for more morsels of moments between them. It felt very quick and easy once they do fall for one another, well more-so her as he was already into her when the story began. I think I needed a bit more to believe that falling for me, which could have helped with more on-the-page building or tension moments between them or even his POV. They do move into serious quickly and then the 3rd act breakup was a bit frustrating, but thankfully how it was handled after went fine. We do get migraine rep and caretaking!
Overall I think this was a fun one and I am excited for the future of what this author writes since this was a debut. The storm chasing aspect was great and them being photographers in the midst of it all too was exciting. The author’s note at the beginning was so fun sharing her own experience of storm chasing too.
I received an ARC from the publisher, all thoughts in this review are my own.
I’ve been in a weird reading funk lately - not wanting anything too heavy - and this book had no problem keeping my attention
Wes was an absolute TREAT. I loved everything about him. & for the record - I don’t think he did anything wrong!!!!
*SPOILERS FROM HERE ON OUT* - Wes got game - Sloane needs to be in therapy - It’s always a little tough for me when FMC’s are polar opposites to me because I often find myself getting really frustrated with them. In this case - Sloane is super stubborn and will cut people off instead of actually communicating. Or at least that’s the case with everyone EXCEPT her terrible mother & useless brothers. That juxtaposition was a little tough for me to stomach if I’m honest. I get where her head was at, but as a self proclaimed expert communicator - it pissed me off lolllll - LUCKILY that situation was very short lived and we got right back to the warm & fuzzy story pretty quickly - This story was really well written & was so easy to read. I’d sit down to read a chapter and before I realize it, I’d be 25% further
Overall REALLY enjoyed this story & will definitely read this authors future books!
4.5 stars (honestly only reason not 5 is bc I’m still annoyed with the FMC hahahah)

Enemies to lovers. Storm-chasing photographer edition. Think Twisters… but with spice 😉
When I saw the cover of this book, I knew I had to read it—and it did not disappoint. The storm-chasing aspect added adrenaline and thrill that’s atypical for a standard romance. The story moves fast, racing from storm to storm, making it captivating and edge-of-your-seat exciting. Wes’s wild tendencies made their enemies-to-lovers dynamic feel authentic without ever being rude.
I love an enemies-to-lovers done right—and this was done right. The banter was sharp, funny, and never crossed into being insulting, which is something I see too often in romance.
Once the romance took off… oooof, zing. Sloane and Wes were cute, flirty, and fun, and the story also delved into childhood trauma in a thoughtful way. The author balanced depth and fun perfectly. This is an action-adventure romance for sure.
Definitely one of my favorites this year—I’m even hoping to preorder a signed copy because I loved it so much!
Thanks to NetGalley, and as always a special thanks to Berkley for allowing me the privilege of an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you to NetGalley & Michael Joseph for this ARC.
This was a romance with a difference and I loved every minute of it. Storm chasing AND photography? Count me in.
The setting of this book, taking place across America mostly in cars or hotels chasing storms really made for a dynamic & interesting story, and it definitely made me want to keep on reading, chasing storms and their romance along with them.
Sloane is a strong female character and I loved the representation of a woman absolutely smashing it in a male dominated field, along with Wes who absolutely adored her, following her every step of the way and admiring her success and (mostly) never overstepping the mark.
I’m never much of a fan of a third act breakup but this one was believable which helped, unlike some which feel unnecessary and thrown in to add drama.
This was a really fun read, the shower selfies had me giggling, the romance had me wanting more, and the combination of storms and photography really kept me interested right from the start. I look forward to reading more from Heather!
THIS WAS EVERYTHING I WANTED OUT OF A DEBUT✨ I am absolutely enamored with Sloane and Wes and their story!!! I have never read a storm chaser romance before but now I am OBSESSED! If you liked the reluctant partners/reckless cowboy + Type A FMC aspect of “Twisters” (2024), you’re going to EAT THIS UP!! Bring back men who yearn and are pathetically in love with the FMC!!! (Aka Wes MF Talbot!!)
I adored Wes, he is a top tier MMC FOR SURE!! He’s such a sweet, caretaking, charming, broken, pathetic man and I love him so much. He has a masters degree in Yearn-ology with Sloane, omg this man is down clinically bad, and we love to see it!!! I heavily related to Sloane and was called out by her SO MUCH. I loved seeing them finally accept the love they both deserve!!!
I have literally no notes, this is a perfect book. It is a MUST READ!!!

Synopsis: Two rival storm chasers team up in this debut romance! Sloane Michaels has established herself as a successful and highly reliable wedding photographer for most of the year, but she allows herself six weeks off every year to travel the country chasing the wildest of storms. When this year presents an opportunity to enter a prestige magazine photo contest, she jumps at the chance! This means no distractions and no reckless risks. But, when “Wild Wes” gets into an accident that almost jeopardizes his storm chasing season, she begrudgingly invites him to join her for the remainder of the season. As the two spend more and more time together trapped in the tight confinement of her car, she realizes that maybe she misread him all along.
My Thoughts: When I heard about this title, I jumped at the opportunity to read it. I loved the movie Twisters and have been dying for a book version that meets the same flirty and exhilarating vibe as the movie! Two rival storm chasers had my name all over it! I loved their flirty banter, and how Wes made his feelings known from the very beginning. Sloane kept putting off her feelings, but they were slowing burning deep down inside. Wes was such a hot storm chaser, and I kept picturing him wild and carefree in the wind. I loved his little side remarks and the way that he presented himself in such a casual way. He never took himself too seriously, despite his upbringing. Sloane had a lot on her plate with her home life, but I loved that she took the time for herself to do something she loved, even if it was just for a few weeks a year.
I think that this title would’ve done great as a dual POV. I would have loved to hear more of the thoughts that Wes kept to himself. I found myself very drawn to Wes and I would have loved a chance to be inside his head during a lot of these interactions. I was hoping this story would be a little more exhilarating and I really went in expecting the wild side of storm chasing, especially because of the way Wes was described and the fact that it was pitched as “Twisters with more kissing” in the Publishers Marketplace deal report. This book focused more on just taking photos of storms from a distance rather than actually being in the eye of a storm. It was still an amazing concept and I really enjoyed it, but I would have loved a little more adventure.
This might be my favourite romance I've ever read. I read Chase Me if You Can over a day and a half, only begrudgingly stopping to sleep. I was hooked right from the start with Heather Frances's startling intro about lightning, and then I loved the way we meet "Wild Wes," clearly invested in Sloane even as he teases her at a wedding. We can see how much he wants her to be out in the field, chasing storms with him, even as Sloane just wants him gone.
As the story progresses, we get incredible storm chase scenes that I couldn't look away from, even just in text, meaningful relationships and friendships as a protective bubble from the sexism that Sloane faces as a female chaser, and a slightly heartbreaking and personal journey of a parentified eldest daughter still stuck in the patterns of taking care of her mother and younger brothers. These different elements weave together seamlessly as Sloane fights for her own happy place—time away from photographing weddings and managing her family to shoot storms instead—and for a chance to be the first female photographer ever on the cover of a nature magazine.
As readers, we can see from the start that there's more to Wes than Sloane thinks, even if he periodically confirms her beliefs by acting exactly like the reckless, thoughtless bro-dude she views him as. Their dynamic is electric right from the start, and as they are forced to spend more time together, we—and Sloane—see a deeper, more complicated side to him that shows how he was always, in fact, exactly the right match for her, with just a little growth and character development required, as we see towards the end.
Heather Frances's story is unusual and captivating, her descriptions of nature and storms are stunning, her characters and their relationships are entirely endearing, and her writing itself is absolutely superb.
I would recommend this book to absolutely every romance reader. You do not want to miss this book when it comes out in June 2026, and I can't wait for you all to get swept away alongside me.
Give me a Down Bad man with EXCELLENT communication skills who fell first and fell HARD, and I can’t NOT love him. Add in the Forced Proximity of all forced proximities (they’re together 90% of the book and the side characters are great but they are indeed SIDE characters, which I appreciated), and you (meaning I) have a new God Tier romance book on your hands. This story made me want to rewatch Twisters and try storm chasing. The atmosphere was exquisite and a perfect recipe for romance. I will read whatever Frances writes next!
Thank you to the publisher for providing me an e-arc in exchange for my honest review.
Sloane burns herself out for roughly eleven months out of the year photographing weddings so she can spend six weeks chasing storms and tornadoes, her truest passion. It’s her escape, and this year the stakes are even higher with a photography competition for the cover of a magazine called Nature Shots. Winning could give her the freedom to focus more on landscape photography, but as with every season, her rival and infamous Wild Wes Talbot may be a bigger distraction than she planned. After he has an accident early in the season, they end up chasing storms together in one car while his is in the shop. With that forced proximity, will they be able to help each other or destroy each other just like the storms they chase?
Everything about this book worked so well for me. The tension, the backstories, the action, the characters, I consumed it so fast. I loved this type of romance because it felt genuine while still being fun. Even though their connection builds quickly due to being thrown together, it never felt rushed. Heather Frances gives enough backstory and context that you are just waiting for them to finally come together. I could feel the tension through the pages, and while they yearned in different ways, their inevitable love really landed.
I adored Sloane and Wes as a pair. Their rivalry was playful and engaging without ever turning into sabotage or unnecessary competition. They riffed off each other so naturally, and it was clear they brought out the best in one another. Their relationship felt like a true partnership, which made it all the more realistic and meaningful. Wes and Sloane grew to communicate so well together (besides the small mishap towards the end), strengthening their connection. I especially loved the hints of Wes falling first and Sloane slowly realizing what everyone else had seen all along. It added such a satisfying layer to their romance.
I also really related to Sloane in the way she takes on the role of the eldest daughter. She balances her own wants with the expectations she has placed on herself to take care of everyone else, especially her mom and brothers. When she finally has someone who looks out for her, you can feel that weight start to lift. There is something so special about a love where you feel safe and do not always have to think ten steps ahead. While I expected a dual point of view since that is so common, I actually appreciated only having Sloane’s perspective, especially because I connected with her so much. I also have such a soft spot for female main characters in STEM, and through Sloane’s thoughts, you can really feel the author’s passion for storm chasing and the science behind it.
There was a small aspect that made me drop down to a 4.5, but overall, I highly recommend this to anyone who loves rivals to lovers, men who yearn, strong women in STEM, and forced proximity. I have read storm chaser romances before, but the photography angle brought something fresh and added a lot to the story. Connecting with Sloane made me love it even more, and the fact that this is a debut honestly blows my mind. I cannot wait to read more from Heather Frances.
Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for this advanced reader copy!
You know when you read a bunch of heavy books in a row and then you pick something that just feels… fun and easy? This book was exactly that for me.
I had such a good time reading it.
We get so many good tropes here: frenemies/rivals to lovers, forced proximity, one bed, he falls first, a bit of groveling… and on top of that, storm chasing??
Sloane is a wedding photographer, but for six weeks, each year she chases tornadoes. When a big photography contest comes up, she sees it as her chance to finally break into nature photography.
Enter Wes… aka Wild Wes, as Sloane calls him.
They’ve had this frenemy dynamic for years and of course he’s also competing. But when he ends up in a situation where he can’t continue on his own, Sloane lets him join her so they can compete fairly.
Now let me tell you… Wes was quite a DELIGHT.
Sloane saw him for years as this reckless, spoiled trust fund guy, but he turned out to be the complete opposite (let's say almost, since old habits die hard). He was supportive, protective and just genuinely there for her. I loved seeing that shift in how she viewed him.
Their relationship develops really nicely, and yes… he falls first and it shows. I mean, I think he was pretty much 90% in love with her since like forever or so lol :D.
I also appreciated that when he messed up, he actually GROVELED. Properly. And he did his best to fix what he screwed up.
The storm chasing side was such a fun addition too. This is actually the second book I’ve read this year with this theme and I’m not mad about it at all.
The only small thing for me was that Sloane was a bit too judgy toward Wes at the beginning… but honestly, it made the growth even better.
Overall, it was a late night, fun, bingeable romance.
⭐ 4.5 stars
Thank you NetGalley and Penguin Random House for the ARC.
Thank you NetGalley and Berkley Romance for the advanced copy of this e-book (all opinions are mine)!
What a sparkling debut! This was a solid read filled with adventure, heart, and banter galore!
Sloane was such a fantastic FMC. I loved how realistically flawed and relatable she was. I honestly liked Wes from the start and was so happy with his character development. And my man was YEARNING! It was so sweet! So, I really enjoyed both leads as individuals but when they got together.. I was shipping those two HARD CORE! The banter and sparks were flying! Their careers and the way they brought out the best in one another’s work was top tier!
I liked how this was paced out over Sloane’s chase season. It was just the right timing for their relationship to grow and we also got a little bit of them after which was great as well. It made me believe they’d be okay once the season was over and we got to see a little more of how their day to day lives would complement each other. I adore a good epilogue and this one was one for the books!
I’ve been really into books where I can learn something new (about anything) so I actually loved the storm chaser parts of this books and learning all about tornadoes and the weather! It was fascinating and made me want to keep reading, I couldn’t wait for their next adventure. It also added the element of suspense because there were times I was legitimately nervous for the characters, and I’ve watched a lot of tornado videos since finishing this to learn more about them. Learning about the chaser community was also super fascinating!
Overall I enjoyed this and think folks are going to love it this summer! Thanks again to NetGalley and Berkley Romance, this releases June 23rd.
I took my sweet time with this books but let me tell you it was addictive 😩
I loved loved the chemistry between Sloane and Wes!! It was everything to me🤧 the way their romance was written made me so emotionally invested and wishing for a relationship just like their!!
The way they bantered a lot with each other was so much fun to read!! I was giggling through it the whole book especially ESPECIALLY at the migraine scene?!? I was giggling, kicking my feet and screaming 🫣
And the way Wes fallen for Sloane (first and harder) was adorable!! (Him talking about that hug for month took my heart and held it hostage 🥹)
I did enjoy the plot but it did focus more on photography aspect not the storm chasing which I would have loved more of!!
+ I would admit the story did drag on a little but honestly I quite enjoyed that it did!! It brought me so much depth and it didn’t feel exhausting to read.
I didn’t enjoy the 3rd act breakup much🤧 it was very effective and it did hit me hard but I didn’t enjoy it honestly, felt like it wasn’t that necessary 😭
Overall I did enjoy and love the book!! I would 100% recommend it and I can’t wait to see what the author does next because I will be reading it🙂↕️🫶

Debut who?! I was absolutely shocked this was a debut novel! I was absorbed into the story from the beginning, and enjoyed every delicious and tension filled moment. The story was so well written and had me caught up in the excitement of the storm chasing, as well as the love story that unfolded. There were wild moments, tender moments, and everything in between. It’s everything Ive been wanting from a romance lately! Also huge bonus points with the Colorado Springs and Rocky Mountain settings, I’m a sucker with mentions of home ;-). I normally loathe a third act break up in a romance, but I felt this one was necessary for some growth in our characters and their story. Definitely a must read to add to your list this summer!
Thank you NetGalley and Berkeley for my ARC in exchange for my honest feedback!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 For fans of Twisters and boys who annoy you because they’re in love with you, you’re going to eat this up!!!!
Romance aside, this was so FUN!!!! As a weather geek the storm chasing aspect was such a great plot to follow and the romance was the icing on the cake.
And speaking of the romance, THIS is how you do rivals to lovers. There was the perfect amount of sparring with each other and sharing longing glances 🤭and even before they got together there was always an underlying respect between the two.
Thank you to NetGalley and Heather Frances for the arc all opinions are my own!
As always thank you to NetGalley and Berkley for this ARC of 'Chase Me If You Can'!
This was definitely a 4.5 for me! As a former Midwestern girly this was RIGHT up my alley ;) and I absolutely loved every minute of it.
The only thing I have to say is I think I have slowly come to realize that enemies/rivals to lovers is not my cup of tea in contemporary romance anymore. Sloane thoroughly disliking Wes based off assumptions and a persona he puts up online when she has no idea who he really is even on a basic level just really grinded my gears.
But that was made up for in the banter and the relationship they built together. An MMC who not only falls first but HARDER cannot be beat. The support he offered to Sloane not only physically but emotionally was top tier.
This will be a book I continue to think about for a long, long time. And yes, I was picturing Glen Powell as Wes the entire time!
I regret to inform you that I am still searching for the perfect storm chasing romance. I’ve read two this year, and this was the stronger of the two, but the romance was too rushed for me. The fact that they were photographers and not meteorologists was a nice twist. Good yearning and forced proximity, Wes is definitely hot (didn’t read like a 30-something though), and there really were some very sweet scenes. However, the chemistry felt forced, dialogue was stiff, and the FMC has an unrealistic meltdown at the end. Still, not bad for an easy-to-read romance.
