[Koiseyo Mayakashi Tenshidomo] #5
Fall In Love, You False Angels, Vol. 5
Summer vacation is here! Toki, Rai, and Otogi head to the fireworks festival together, and the outing soon turns into an awkward competition for Otogi's attention between the overconfident Rai and ever-unsure Toki. Both now aware of their feelings for her, the two sort through their thoughts and, each in their own way, prepare to make the next move. But when Otogi leaves to spend summer vacation at her grandmother's house, Toki and Rai are left hanging with nothing to do but wait for her to return. But absence makes the heart grow fonder, and a little long-distance communication might be just what Otogi and Toki need to move forward...

A really fun lightheartedI'M RAGING RIPPING MY HAIR OUT AT THE ANGST OF IT ALL GRAHHHHHH I'M IRE FURY IS ME romcom 💕💕🤭🤭
I loved the concept of hidden identities at this point. I really liked the aspect that they have sides they can't show anyone, even though in case of this manga it's a bit tame cuz it's not something super duper scandalous or anything like that. And I absolutely adore the highschool setting I love high school settings sm (even though I could burn my own school with a smile on my face *jkjk* I don't condone arson kids).
But yeah it's a really light refreshing read THE YEARNING THE MISUNDERSTANDING MAKE IT STOP MAKE.IT.STOP. *cuts out my eyelids to stop the eye twitching*
Otogi isn't your average high school girl. She's the ✨madonna✨. She's got the face card thats paying real bills. But beneath that sugary gorgeous surface she's got a badass cool side she can't show anyone (why. I don't know.) but i ABSOLUTELY ADORED how narcissistic she is like okwy NARCISSUS
Toki isn't your average high school dude either. He's also got that premium face card with an unlimited limit. And he's also got a weird kooky side he can't show anyone (why. Idk).
And when they both realize they aren't that different after all they make you wanna say FALL IN LOVE YOU FALSE ANGELS.
Now exhibiting ✨issues✨
Take 1- I really couldn't understand why they can't show their kooky b sides too anyone. I don't think there is a good enough reason to hide it.
Take 2- sometimes it seemed like their only personality trait is how pretty they are ...and it kinda put me off...
Take 3-
✨Honorary mention to Beni-chan for being a badass self aware girly who takes no shit I love her sm✨
But despite everything I still had an absolute blast with it. Really fun!
3.2-they're-sooooo-fiiiiine-alll-of-themmmm/5

“Having a person you want to share good experiences with is a very, very wonderful thing.”
I really enjoyed this volume! I especially enjoyed how both our leads are getting to know each other and doing "normal" teenage things such as sending text messages to each other. I found it incredibly cute, and it made me start to feel that these two can eventually be a couple, buttttt!
The second half (which I also liked to preface LOL) definitely shows it's not going to be any time soon because, excuse me, Rai, I did not know your game! I didn't appreciate how you lied at one point to cause some drama and an unnecessary misunderstanding, but I DO appreciate how you ended this volume for us.
I enjoyed the beach scene and appreciated hearing/seeing why Beni invited a certain person because I really was lost as to what her angle was. Sorry I doubted you, Beni!
I think overall I just really really liked the storytelling of this volume. Sure, the art is absolutely gorgeous, but there was some fantastic paneling to show what a variety of our characters are feeling, and it made this volume more engaging than the last. I liked it!
I am definitely interested in seeing what happens in the next volume!

As I say every time, I will read this whole thing just because the art is so, so good. It makes manga better just by existing, seriously. The linework is like nothing else and that goes for even things as innocuous as the chibis.
I liked the shift to the summer months and leaving behind the school setting. It’s an excellent excuse for the story to drop its premise, especially when Otogi’s best friend, Beni, accidentally learns Toki’s true self.
Instead, the would-be rival, Rai, winds up thrown together with the rest of them as we get our court-mandated beach trip, complete with fancy summer cottage. Although this one is different than usual in some key ways.
For one, the boys form the great bulk of the fan service - the mangaka is absolutely down to draw abs - which is an amusing touch. That said, Otogi’s fantastic one piece is rendered in loving detail as well, showing that it doesn’t always need to be bikinis (although Beni has that covered).
What I really enjoyed here is that this cramped conglomerate all has something to do. Rai, for starters, is desperate to make himself an ideal guy for Otogi, incredibly obvious signals be damned.
Otogi and Toki are struggling with their communication; Toki seriously regrets his rejection of Otogi, while she is using the rejection to move forward and make herself a stronger person. Except Toki is REALLY regretting it.
I won’t say this uses the best visual metaphors I’ve seen, but the fact that it’s using symbolism at all is kind of a welcome change from all the usual straightforward stuff we see.
And I like a story about teenagers who are believably dumb about certain things. Three people in a love triangle playing a secret confession game meant to be played in large group is just asking for trouble, yet I can totally see it happening. And going about as well as it does here.
Then there’s Beni, who is secretly the reason I liked this volume so much. Beni comes off as so much more mature than the others, which is why it isn’t surprising that sparks suddenly start flying between her and the much older Gen.
Or do they? The whole thing feels a lot like a schoolgirl crush that got out of hand when somebody took a bunch of common ground and some nice gestures and then ran away with their feelings about the person who did it.
It isn’t that we haven’t seen May-December romances in manga before, just that this seems a lot more like somebody having their heart broken because they saw a friendship the wrong way. Just showing that the most mature person can be totally not that if the scenario is right.
So, a good volume. It’s not quite enough to make me re-read the others to see if I was being too harsh, but this definitely lands way better than I recall the first four doing and I’m glad it’s not just great art this time.
4 stars - delicious art, some good character building, and a romance that I am coming around on. Definitely my favourite volume so far.

omg !! a lot of things happened in this volume!!
first of all i LOVE the composition of the boards that Uzuki-sensei uses, she is always so incredibly clean in her drawing aaaa!!
beyond that, moving on to the plot: Ninomae please don't make Otogi suffer and doubt more than that, she deserves to know your feelings for her 💔 i also loved the fact that he stripped of his perfect personality in front of other people, even if it's no longer the secret between him and Otogi sigh :((( (AND I LOVED THE BELLY BUTTON PIERCING, i just love it!!!)
Futagami is always the usual adorable puppy, but the ending... help ><
im too curious about Beni and Gen, and especially who is this Nagi for Gen????? Beni, take this beautiful man pls!!!! (and im super worried, what happened while they were out?!)
anothet thing that i super appreciated: the fact that Beni specified that her love for Otogi is not romantic, because it implies the fact that she is open, probably, also to that kind of love.
the fact that in a manga where the main relationship (and probably all the others) are straight, but the possibility of experiencing romantic love from woman to woman is mentioned.. beautiful! im so happy that this manga tackles so many current issues but without exasperating them, it does it in a totally natural way! :’)
see ya soon (:

This volume was really good. Lots of longing glances and feelings. Good friendships and new potential! The art is nice as always. We start with two people who want to talk to each other but don't want to seem silly taking the plunge. Then we get a friends trip that expands on feelings, new feelings bud, and friendships grow. Great volume. This shoujo romance is really romancing.

I really can’t bring myself to hate anyone in this manga. At the end of the day, they are all high school students just trying to be the best version and realest version of themselves and I can’t fault them for any of their actions no matter how annoying I find them😭.
Katsura and Ikkoku’s relationship really took a nosedive in this volume. I started off so cute with them texting back and forth and them him inviting he to his beach house. But then BENI JUST HAD TO INVITE FUTAGAMI AND RUIN THE VIBES. I mean I get why she invited him, getting rud of the doubt and the love triangle once and for all or what not, but I just don’t think it was the right thing to do just now😭😭 I mean Futagami, what can I say tbh? I thought he gave up but evidently he did not lol. I commend him for trying though. He is just a boy trying to navigate his first love.
Katsura had me when she started indulging Futagami on her love somehow making her lose sight on herself. That shit was too real. Omg and Ikkoku😭 HE PRESSED THE YES BUTTON😭😭😭 (iykyk). Also sidenote, I can’t believe beni and now futagami know their other side. I really thought they’d keep that reveal for later. Oh and another thing WTF IS THE PLOTLINE OF BENI GAINING A CRUSH ON GEN???!!! WAS THAT REALLY NECESSARY? IF THEY WANTED A LOVE PLOT FOR BENI OTORI WAS RIGHT THERE AND HE AT LEAST IS AGE APPROPRIATE TFFFF. Any rant over
I’m not looking forward to reading on only cause of how this volume ended but whatever Ill get over it lol.

5 stars. This is just my favorite. The art, the story that makes my heart skip a beat, and the fashion. I love it all. The small moments of indecision or thoughts are the best.

losing my patience with this series tbh. art is still amazing but characters feel more and more generic and the drama is soooo cliche and dumb

Futagami, tu hai molta esperienza in campo romantico.

It's summer break, so Toki and Otogi aren't seeing each other every day... but there still may be a chance for their feelings to bloom otherwise. Then, when Otogi is invited to join Toki and Gen on a trip, her best friend insists they also bring Rai. A love triangle is brewing, and with Otogi struggling to keep a lid on her feelings, things are getting rather messy....
I liked the first part of this volume and have liked how, historically, romance tropes were handled quickly, without drawing out too much. While these volumes are short and only contain a few chapters, I'm worried that the love triangle and misunderstanding is going to get drawn out longer than it needs to. Fingers crossed more growth happens with the characters soon and we can move on to another issue for the lead couple to cross!
This volume contains chapters 17-20.

Officially finished before volume 6 releases in the US next year, (and hopefully more volumes after?!) I’m so sad thinking we have to wait that long but I’m so glad I discovered this incredible manga! As the story progresses, you start rooting for other characters to get together and now I have this massive attachment to all these characters. ❤️ I even feel like Otogi’s narcissism is fading just a little lol! 10/10 as always, loved the summer vibes in this one and that I physically own all these. they’re something you’ll want to physically own. Cannot recommend this series enough.
