Jonathan Rogers grew up in Georgia, where he spent many happy hours in the swamps and riverbottoms on which the wild places of The Wilderking are based. He received his undergraduate degree from Furman University in South Carolina and holds a Ph.D. in seventeenth-century English literature from Vanderbilt University. The Bark of the Bog Owl has already found a receptive audience among Jonathan’s own six children. The Rogers clan lives in Nashville, Tennessee, where Jonathan makes a living as a freelance writer. The Bark of the Bog Owl is his first novel.
When I first learned of the Wingfeather Tales I was excited to hear more from the world of Aerwiar. However, I can also say there was some trepidation knowing that not all the stories would be written by Andrew Peterson (reading the Forward relieved most of my concern). Would this book contain the same whimsical, hope giving, truth tasting, thought provoking and overall engaging aspects of the Wingfeather Saga? The answer: Yes
These tales contain unlikely heroes, unexpected friends, amusing romance, tragic love, glimpses into Podo Helmers troubled past, brotherly rivalry, a florid (sword) comic, heart-rending journeys, and redeemed lives. Not to mention toothy cows, snick buzzards and their belly buttons, the fendril, flabbits, thwaps, dragons and all manner of creature. Each author did a wonderful job at bringing the stories of Aerwiar to life. Any good and believable world, after all, must have tales to tell in many forms with various authors.
AWESOME! 🤩 I really enjoyed this book and the different stories it had in it. The last story though, the longest one, the one written by McKelvey… I struggled. The writing was, a bit long I guess you could say and a bunch of the sentences had NOT a lot of commas and felt like a run on sentences. But… when I got to the end it almost made me cry with the realization that… that… never mind no spoilers…………. Anyways and it made me sad and happy and relieved and made much more sense. And I loved it in the end ( especially the epilogue ) That’s pretty much my review. Definitely read it though, ( but read it after Andrew Petersons Saga ) Happy reading! ❤️Enjoy!😊 Still gets a five star because these authors deserve it :)
I really liked some of the stories and would have rated this higher but the last one “The Places Beyond the Map” was sooo long and drawn out. The story started and ended really well but there were 4 hours in the middle that very little happened and were painfully boring. Mostly just self loathing that could have been greatly condensed.
