𝐒𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐧𝐞 When my parents died, they buried me under a mountain of debt with no safety net. I had no choice but to figure it out on my own. Accepting Kole’s ad for a new roommate seemed like a no brainer. Everything was going great, until it wasn’t. Kole’s charming nature turned deadly so fast it made my head spin. Can I make it out alive? Or will I end up in the ground next to my parents?
𝐊𝐨𝐥𝐞 The moment I set eyes on my Sweet Obsession my world upends. The overwhelming need to fix every one of her faults makes my skin itch. Will this obsession completely ravage her like the last one? Or will I finally be able to rewrite my past?
Loralai Blake lives in a small town in the midwest. She spends her free time reading dark romances, but her favorite genre is horror eroitca. Loralai has been an avid reader since she was little and a writer since she was in high school. Loralai started out writing poetry to cope with her depression and it slowly turned into something so much more. She has many more dark and depraved works coming that will make you question your own sanity and morals while reading them.
I, don't quite know how I feel about this one. Our next installment in our WELLARD ASYLUM SERIES, follows a lost and, quite frankly, naive woman, loses her parents, has nowhere to go, who moves in with your wonderfully enthusiastic Asylum nurse next door. Drop dead handsome Man hears the voice of his newest and sweetest obsession and the rest, just goes downhill from there. Characters enter and exit faster than you can get a good enough read on them without much background. Most of this novel takes place outside of the Asylum and has more to do with his insane weird obsession tendencies than anything else. I feel like most of this falls pretty flat and off course for the theme of , what I assumed, this was going to be about. The are aspects in this with some asylum feel that did hit right, but there just wasn't enough of it. There's a bit left unsaid and open, which may be intentional from the author. This feels pretty incomplete and rushed but is a novella and only 162 pages. Just seems to fall flat and doesn't quite measure up to a couple of the previous installments. This is simply just my opinion. I just wish there was a little more of an asylum feel to it prior to right at the end of the story.
But when I think of an asylum book, this is not what I have in mind. The asylum aspects took far too long to get to. Her "break" should have happened sooner. I have more questions than answers.
In another context, this would have easily been a 5 star read for me. But given what it's supposed to be? I found it lacking. When I see videos for this project or I think of Wellard Asylum, I want to feel uneasy. I want to feel like its walls are caving in around me and the crazies have really come out to play. This did not hit the mark.
Now will I read other books by this author? Absolutely! As I said, it was well written. I just wanted a lot more unhinged IN the asylum than what happened.
I’ve been so excited to dive into The Wellard Asylum series. For anyone new to it: this is a shared-world series, with standalone books written by a collective of authors. Ravage was my first dip into the world and holy shit—it delivered.
Plot Blurb: Sloane is just trying to piece her life back together after losing her parents, which also left her financial trouble. So when she stumbles across an ad for a roommate that fits her budget, she takes the bait…
Kole: Psychiatric nurse at Wellard Asylum…and the man behind that roommate ad. His fascination with Sloane quickly twists into sick obsession.
This book was fast-paced, dark, and well.. fun heh. 🤷🏻♀️ The perfect kickoff to spooky season. It was also my first read by Loralai Blake, and I am really looking forward to read more from the author!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (4.5 stars) I would’ve happily devoured another 50–100 pages of this.
Read your TW! This is a horror erotic. Not a dark romance. 🖤
When I tell you, i couldn’t believe what was happening, as it happened, at any time within this book🥲 Please DONT go into this thinking the mmc cant be that bad & it’ll end beautifully, because, and i say this with my whole chest, Kole is fucking mental 😃
I did love this story line! I generally read romance & romantasy and never really stray from that, but this was genuinely so good.
Kole, you should get your head checked babes Sloane, we don’t victim blame here… but what the fuck girly 🙃
That ending literally had my mouth GAPING. Shocked is truly an understatement 👀
Wow, I love this author's writing. Sloane has just lost her parents and subsequently a debt. She is trying to get back on her feet financially when she sees an ad looking for a roommate. But she doesn't know that her new partner is a sick psychopath who is obsessed with her, Kole is a crazy, obsessive man who will do anything for his sweet obsession. OMG I was screaming through my Kindle to run far far away from Kole, poor girl.
“That’s it, cry for me. Tears make me hard, baby.”
My stay at Wellard Asylum continues and OH. MY. GAWD.
Living with a stranger can’t be that bad, right? Even if your new roommate just so happens to be an all-star nurse at Wellard Asylum… how bad could it really be?
“I know what your pulse feels like when you’re lost in your dreams, oblivious to the dangers lurking in the dark. You’re the most perfect obsession I’ve ever had.”
Kole was written so perfectly unhinged and obsessed, it gave me actual anxiety in the best way. The things he said and did crawled under my skin, he’s the definition of a textbook psychopath and I was living for it. This book was a fast-paced, wild ride that I never wanted to end.
Not only do we get all the… fun that comes with sharing an apartment with Kole, but we also get a front-row seat to what makes him “Nurse of the Month” at Wellard. Watching him work side by side with Dr. Halstead had my jaw on the floor. That treatment scene for [REDACTED] LORALAI, WHAT DO YOU MEAN!?
Unfortunately, this didn't give what I expected it to give. This was neither erotic nor horrifying. It took a while for the asylum to even come into play and I couldn't even like the characters in a dark, messed up way. The fmc was insufferably annoying and incredibly stupid and the mmc was just a dick. I couldn't even pretend to hate him and secretly love his unhingeness; he was simply terrible.
I didn't care for the writing either so that definitely didn't help me get into the story. Also!!!
I couldn't find a single thing I liked and I hate this was a hate review but, god, that's two days I'll never get back. What a waste of kindle space. The only thing I recommend is skipping this one.
This is a splendidly creepy roommate horror that you definitely don’t want to miss.
Compared to the other books in this collection, Ravage doesn’t take place entirely in the asylum — and honestly, I didn’t mind that at all. It’s also not your usual doctor–patient setup. Instead, it follows Sloane, who’s reeling from the loss of her parents and searching for a new place to live. She thinks she’s struck gold when she finds a house for only $200 a month. The only catch? She has to share it with a guy.
What she doesn’t know is that her new roommate works as a nurse at Wellard Asylum — and if you’ve read the other six books, you already know that’s not a good thing. 🙈
I really enjoyed this one. The horror doesn’t rely on gore or shock value, but on the slow, unnerving reveal of Kole’s psychotic behaviors — especially in that final chapter (chills!). I’d love to say more, but I don’t want to spoil the fun of discovering it for yourself.
Going into this book I was a bit unsure of the direction it was going to take. I've loved the previous books I've gotten to read in the Wellard Asylum shared world but this one took a different route and I was delightfully surprised. Sloane is very much a woman fallen on hard times and Kole? Well he's insane. Renting a room quickly spirals into something far more sinister, leaving you with conflicting feelings through every chapter. The ending genuinely left me with my jaw on the floor, completely unsure of what I had just read. But don't just take it from me, read and find out how it ends for yourself. I do wish we had gotten more of the asylum setting however it was very well written.
When does an obsession become indifference? From the start Sloane is not in a good place but her life seems to pick up when she replies to an ad for a room mate. Said room mate Kole, works at Wellard Asylum and he’s just found his latest ‘sweet obsession’. Not going to elaborate anymore than this.
This one was on the spicy 🌶️ side with a little doctor/nurse interaction, maybe some would err on the side of caution with the rumours of what happens once in the asylum. Devoured this in one sitting, as it keeps you enthralled until the ultimate ending 😱
This book felt disconnected to the series. Almost as though it was a small filler to fit some characters together.
I felt the ending was somewhat confusing. Especially on the FMC part and multiple other parts. I don’t want to leave spoilers so I won’t get into it but the ending was just odd.
I enjoyed the obsession and appreciated what was happening but it just felt like the story didn’t fully come together.
Now I will say I enjoyed the characters and it was a new take for the series. I do wish more if it was spent with the actual asylum but I understood the reasoning.
This novel was incredible, I like the writing of this author. Sloane suffers from financial problems after the death of her parents. She finds an ad where she is looking for a department partner, Kole is a psychopath who gets obsessed with her sweet obsession Sloane. Oh I won't be able to Sloane I thought she was going save sweet girl but no
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ toxic stars because apparently my taste in fictional men is as questionable as Wellard’s hiring practices.
This is the second Wellard Asylum book I’ve read and let me tell you it’s like signing up for a guided tour through hell, except your tour guide is hot, insane, and probably going to set fire to your wardrobe.
Ravage taught me two things: 1) red flags are not confetti, and 2) apparently I’ll still simp for a psychopath in scrubs.
Welcome to Wellard Asylum where the nurses should be locked up right alongside the patients.
The dynamic here? Kole: I control what you eat, wear, and breathe. Sloane: He’s cute tho. Me: Screaming at my Kindle like I’m in a horror movie.
This book is dark, twisted, and yet… completely addictive. I devoured it in one sitting, partly horrified, partly entertained, and fully judging myself for enjoying Kole’s particular brand of chaos.
Not a romance. No HEA. Just obsession and destruction wrapped in a disturbingly hot package. And honestly? I loved every second.
⚠️ Pro tip: Read the trigger warnings. This time they’re not suggestions, they’re survival instructions.
Big thanks to Loralai Blake for the ARC of Ravage! 🖤 My brain said “girl, this man is toxic,” but my Kindle said “keep turning pages.” Kole ruined my sleep schedule, and honestly? Worth it.
Disclaimer *This is NOT a Dark Romance (as forewarned to all by the author on many occasions 🖤), so tread carefully and read the triggers for your own wellbeing* There will maybe be a couple spoilers in this review
Oh boy this book is one of those books that will leave you shocked.. I knew what I was signing up for, I saw this series & wanted in immediately! It’s such a psychological rollercoaster!
Think of it this way.. Remember the films where the woman would be all innocent and just casually walk in to their demise like there’s no cares in the world given? I felt that here. I wanted to scream at my kindle and shout “GET AWAY FROM THERE GIRL!! DON’T DO IT!!” - if you’re a horror movie buff, you know that particular feeling. But then things turn, you don’t expect it to turn so much and you’re slapped in the face with a plot so brilliant, you want to know more after the last page.. yep thats me now.
I need to devour the rest of this series by all the authors! Ravage was an excellent introduction to this series, can’t wait to continue on and find out all the side character details I NEED filled in.
Thank you to the author for allowing me to read Ravage, I look forward to more of the authors work!
[Aunque pensándolo bien, iba a terminar mal igual 😂]
ARC Review. Welcome to Wellard Asylum. How can we make your nightmares come true?? This was the 2nd book I've had the pleasure of reading from the Wellard Asylum series & it did not disappoint!! This is definitely not a dark romance & there's no HEA to be had.
Our FMC Sloane has really been going through a tough time in her life, to say the least. In comes our MMC Kole to save the day (not really)! Kole, being the kind & caring nurse he is, wants to make sure Sloane is eating well, dressing appropriate, getting enough sleep & basically ensuring she has no choices in her life unless he makes them for her (how nice of him). Turns out to work at Wellard Asylum you need to be crazier than the patients!! Without giving away any more of the book, I'll just say that I did not see the ending coming at all! Nurse Kole is absolutely 💯 unredeemable but I think Mara may just give him a run for his money!!
I did absolutely LOVE the darkness & depravity of this book!!! I'm looking forward to meeting the rest of the lovely staff & patients at Wellard Asylum! 👿
after losing her parents, Sloane finds herself buried in their debt, homeless and living in her car. she finds a roommate ad at work the room and decides to take the room. Very quickly, Kole, a nurse at wellard asylum, shows his true colours. while Sloane had a lot of fight in her, as soon as she found her neighbour and new friend dead, she seemed to forget everything Kole had done to her and fall into his arms. While I would have loved for her to still have that fire, I still really enjoyed this story and how unhinged Kole was.
"That's it, cry for me. Tears make me hard, baby."
♡This was my first read by Lorali Blake & it was dark, depraved, & not for the faint of heart! This book is emotional/physical whiplash on paper x10. I spent the entire read wondering what the mmc was going to do next to assure the fmc couldn't "leave" him. Nothing is ever as it seems at Wellard Asylum so buckle up & check yourself in & stay awhile!♡
Meet Kole! He works at Wellard Asylum, however “Nurse of the Month” he is not! He’s corrupt and nasty! And he’s looking for a new roommate…
Sloane just wants a place to live other than her car. Finding an apartment ad solves her problems…or does it? Kole is obsessed to say the least. Sloane is not a pushover. The spice was intense, but that ending was not expected! 👏
Devious, sinister and calculated, Ravage delivers yet another insane story of what happens inside Wellard Asylum! Read Responsibly
wow! 🤯🤯🤯 I need more! this was intense and just insane. pure chaos is what I would say to describe this book. what irritates me is that she stayed....after everything, she clearly had sirens going off in her head as she stated numerous times! I'm petty so I kinda felt bad for her but I don't. this book had me going! the only down side is, i want more about him! like does he get his??? I want a revenge story on him or maybe he messes with the wrong girl!!😂
Yall! This book is so unhinged, but I loved every second of it! I seriously couldn’t put it down I needed to know what was gonna happen. Kole is just there are no words to describe him. He sees his sweetest obsession and won’t let anyone take her from him, not even her!
This book is dark, disturbed, unhinged, twisted, and freaking delicious! Kole is a nurse at the Wellard Asylum, but I’m pretty sure he should be a patient..just saying! Sloane has been having a rough patch and now she’s living in her car, so when she finds an add for an amazing roommate, she jumps on it right away, even though it’s living with a man. Right away, things are strange, Kole’s behavior is shifting and he is off. And Sloane is conflicted, she knows she should run, but something is keeping her there also. I was not prepared!!! And this book is exactly why I devour and love asylum books, they are dark and disturbed, but they will blow your mind in the best way.
This story was definitely not for the faint of heart but I finished it so fast omg! I need more!! I hadn’t ready anything by this author yet and now I feel like i’ve been missing out! The writing is perfection, the characters were just chilling she wrote the crazy as hell mmc so well! I cant wait to read the other books from this series 😍🖤
