One night, three of us, too much tequila. A quiet invitation into Izair Yves’s bed that turned into something even the blogs couldn’t have written better. He said he just wanted me for a night. But mornings get messy when you wake up as someone’s wife. I built my name as the fun girl everyone wanted on their feed and at their table. I’m about my bread first. I never cared to wear a man’s last name, just his wallet and his attention.
Izair
I don’t do forever. I don’t even do mornings.
I’m a UBA starter. I’ve got championship rings, trophies, and headlines, but I’ve never been a one-woman man. That was the whole point of having the threesome. Wedding rings never meant shit to me.
And Emery? She’s a reflection of me in all the worst ways. Ambitious, selfish, and the kind of industry girl who can play dirty and still come out on top.
But now she’s mine. Both of us playing a game neither one of us has in our playbook.
Initially I was all in, I love how the FMC and MMC met. Emery was introduced as THAT girl and I loved it. Then things quickly jumped around- it’s giving sports romance, marriage of convenience, and after that it was too many plots to keep up. And when it really switched up after 80%, I was over it.
I already wasn’t feeling Izair, he was rude and disrespectful to Emery and completely unapologetic about it. The family drama was unnecessary and it wasn’t enough pages to fully explore it.
But when the twist happened… girl throw the whole book away. Because, why? Why do this to this couple who was already struggling with selling romance to me. But throwing in Riot did help, but just enough for me to rate it at least 3 stars. But that twist! Nope.
This was disappointing. I waited patiently for this one and it just didn’t hit.
This one had a little bit of everything thrown in, but it worked because the story stayed focused on obsession
Emery and Izair’s connection builds from that underlying pull toward each other, mixed with being placed in a situation neither of them planned for. That tension carried the story and kept me locked in
What stood out most was how the plot kept shifting. I did not see either of the twists coming, which made this a fun read
It had drama, intensity, and enough turns to keep things interesting from start to finish.
Title: Courtside Confidential Author: Skynova Genre: Sports Romance, Morally Gray, Urban/Contemporary Romance, High Drama Vibe: Unapologetic secrets, high-stakes betrayals, and finding a love that accepts the worst parts of you—best paired with a Smoked Old Fashioned, complex and intense. Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ (Spicy, detailed encounters)
This book is a deep, thrilling dive into the shadows that lurk courtside. If you’re here for a squeaky-clean, traditional romance, turn back now. Courtside Confidential is billed as morally gray, and it fully embraces that identity, giving you characters who make mistakes, operate in the dark, and yet somehow still bleed devotion for one another.
The author’s note hit me hard: "Let the man accept her flaws and fuck ups and still love her anyways like so many women do for men." That’s the core promise of this story, and the driving force behind the chaos surrounding Izar and Emery. The world is high-stakes—UBA basketball, old money, and secrets—and the emotional acceleration is sharp and thrilling. This isn't a story about redemption; it's a story about acceptance.
What I Sipped & Savor
🥃 Unfiltered Morality: I have to applaud the author for truly leaning into the gray. Emery isn't a heroine who needs saving; she’s complex, possibly messy, and utterly compelling because of it. It’s refreshing to see a dynamic where the man has to accept the risk and the "badness" of his partner. 🥃 The UBA Confidentiality: The sports setting adds a fantastic layer of pressure. Everything is public, yet the characters are fighting private, life-altering battles behind closed doors. This forced secrecy amps up the chemistry and the tension tenfold. 🥃 Intense Connection: The romance here isn’t cozy; it’s a commitment forged in fire. The connection between Izar and Emery feels obsessive, raw, and necessary, which perfectly matches the high-octane drama of their world.
What Made Me Side-Eye My Glass
🥃 The Intensity: This book is intense. If you prefer your relationships to develop slowly with clear moral boundaries, the breakneck speed and the sometimes-shady decisions might be too much. It demands a reader who is willing to suspend judgment and just ride the wave of the plot. 🥃 The Drama Factor: Be prepared for every chapter to feel like a pivotal moment. While thrilling, the sheer density of conflict means there’s little room for quiet breathing moments.
Final Pour
Courtside Confidential is a powerful, unapologetic rush of high-stakes sports drama and morally gray love. It’s for readers who want the adrenaline rush of a suspense plot wrapped around a romance where loyalty trumps perfection. This is one for the late nights when you want a story that keeps you guessing and your heart pounding.
I’m giving this one 4 out of 5 stars.
Pairs well with: A Smoked Old Fashioned. It’s dark, complex, and has a compelling flavor that lingers—just like a good, morally gray secret.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Loved this story. This included a few of my favorite tropes, although one was revealed very late on. This author has a great foundations and amazing stories to tell however I wish she could fine tune the timing a bit more. From chapter one I found myself going through the catalog to see if there was a book connected to this one. I kinda understood why the situation at the end was not mentioned, assuming it was supposed to be a "surprise " revelation for the readers. I do feel most people would've been like yea i figured yea that makes sense because why would she be the one to take on that responsibility but for me it was Hunchos comment when they got arrested. For her to have been holding on that I'm confused as to why she pushed back so much. .I will say I still feel the ending just too quick for me. It's their not together then bam their back without a REAL resolution . .
Lies, deceit, and drama…this book had it all, plus a plot twist I never saw coming. Izair and Emery were both firecrackers in their own right, and watching them accidentally become one was anything but easy. The ride was intense, messy, and so entertaining. I especially enjoyed Izair’s protectiveness toward Emery, even when she tried to act tough and push him away. And Emery? She was BOLD, outspoken, and I loved every bit of her fire. Their dynamic was explosive in the best way. What really stuck with me is how the story highlights the way past trauma and fear can drive us to make choices that cost us more than we realize. It gave the drama real depth and heart. Overall, this was a wild, emotional ride full of twists, passion, and growth…I read it in one sitting, I couldn’t put it down!
I was locked in from page one. Emery and Izair have a wild night at a club and wake up married. The problem is they don't remember much, and they don't really like each other all that much. Watching them go from enemies to lovers was entertaining as hell, but the plot twist at the end I never saw coming! This book honestly could've been longer; it should've been longer.
OMG this book was sooooo freaking good. Skynova, baby you wrote the heck out of this book. When I tell you I was not expecting that turnout….I was flabbergasted and had to text my friend to brag about how you wrote the heck out of this book. Man Emery girlfriend you had me really fooled, but I’m happy the results were good. I love Izair’s protective nature he was definitely B.D.E for sure. 10/10 highly recommend 5⭐️ wish I could make it 6.
I love a good sports romance, and this was one of those. There was a few things that didn’t line up with Chante and Honcho,Riot and Emery, but the secret being spilled had me clutching my imaginary pearls. Why, Emery why! Didn’t make any sense. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ good storyline ,love black love.
This read had the potential to be Unfortunately “Courtside Confidential: Izair & Emery” was just mediocre. Either the book was boring, I dosed (still boring 🤭🤷🏾♀️‼️) midway through the book & or the storyline was too convoluted & disjointed. Irregardless, 😮💨 the endning could not come soon enough.
This book was so good! I haven't seen a morally gray plot written out this well in a while. Emery was a handful and the MMC had me agreeing with him a lot 😂 I can't wait to see what this author drops next
4.5⭐️baby I was all into this book and then I got to the plot twist! What the heck! I didn’t see that. Nonetheless, I enjoyed everything about this book, lol! It literally grabbed me from the first chapter until the end. Whew. 😅
If tell me you're unhinged without saying it was a person then Emery would be it! The whole scheme was insanity, I'm just glad it worked out for her in the end.
This was my first book by the author, I officially interested in her catalog.
This was my first read by this author! Man, did she come with the heat! The way that this story played out my jaws were dropped, and my heart was beating fast! Definitely about to go down the rabbit hole with this author!
Talk about a plot twist baby I never seen this one coming! When I say my mouth dropped. Like I know you are lying because Emery was cold for that one. But the clues were definitely there.
Yes ma’am Sky!! You ate with thissss!! I was locked in from the jump and when the big reveal happened??? GURLLLLL! My jaw was on the FLOOR. 10/10 no notes!!! This was so messy and SPICYYYYYY.
Skynovaaaaa you WROTE the mess outta the book, the plot was real, I would have NEVER guessed that, wow, the emotions in this book was so real, the characters were real, the storyline was real I loved everything about it
