Behind the Suture: A Surgeon's Dark Obsession Romance (Gray Council Book 4)

Rate this book
HE SAVES LIVES BY DAY. HE HARVESTS ORGANS BY NIGHT. SHE'S THE SPY SENT TO STOP HIM—IF THE LIES DON'T BREAK HER FIRST.

Dom Wilson is Seattle's most respected trauma surgeon and the Gray Council's medical authority. When his wife was killed in the war between council members, he learned that saving lives sometimes requires taking them. But he's been alone too long, and when ER doctor Kate Hawk arrives believing she's hunting child killers, he can't resist playing along.

Kate volunteered for this mission, genuinely believing the Gray Council murders children for their organs. The Syndicate showed her fabricated evidence, grieving families, tiny coffins. Now she's undercover, seducing the monster who runs the organ network—except his gentle hands and haunted eyes don't match the evil she expected.

As Dom performs increasingly intimate "examinations" while feeding her false intelligence, Kate discovers horrifying inconsistencies in what she's been told. The children she thought were victims are alive, rescued from trafficking. The monsters she's hunting saved them. And the organization she serves runs the very network she thought she was destroying.

When the truth shatters everything Kate believed, her rage transforms her into something deadlier than the Council ever was. Because a woman who discovers she's been helping child traffickers while hunting their opposition doesn't just want revenge—she wants to harvest it from their living bodies.

BEHIND THE SUTURE is the fourth book in the Gray Council series. This dark romance features a surgeon who knows exactly how much pain a body can endure, a spy whose righteous fury becomes homicidal rage, medical play that crosses every ethical line, and a guaranteed HEA sutured together with blood and betrayal. While each Gray Council book features a different couple and can be read as a standalone romance, reading in order enhances the experience as the war between the Council and Syndicate unfolds across all five books.

enemies-to-lovers, spy romance, medical play, forced caretaking, double agent, age gap, doctor/patient, vigilante justice.

The Gray Council Where the villain always gets the girl.

If you crave possessive alphas, twisted psychology, and happily-ever-afters earned through delicious darkness, you've found your next addiction.

When she's not crafting tales of beautiful depravity or researching things that would alarm her FBI agent, Sable can be found collecting masked book boyfriends, defending fictional villains, and pretending her search history doesn't require a therapist.

Behind The Suture is book 4 in the Gray Council series and can be read as a standalone, but you really have to read the entire series understand that dynamics of what's happening.
I have to say, this one, by far, has to be my favorite in the series. Dom is everything, morally gray, but doing what's right, taking the lives of those who hurt innocent children and saving as many children as he can from being trafficked and having their organs harvested. Dom doesn't do it alone, he has all the members of the council with him in this journey, but I just feel like of all of them, he's so noble.
Kate was sent in to retrieve information about their operations and take the gray council down, but she gets confused about where she stands on everything once she gets to know Dom and realizes that he isn't the monster she was told he was. Once she learns she's been working for the wrong side, she tries to right her mistakes. But then she's taken and they break her. Not physically, but mentally. And Dom has the biggest struggle of his life trying to help her put the pieces of her mind back together.
This story was dark but I think that's mostly because Dom is the doctor and we get to see the darkness of what was really happening to those children. It was heartbreaking and I had no right to be sobbing the way I was. My heart ached for Kate as well. Because through her broken mind, she knew still she loved Dom because of the way he loved her, the way he stood by her, and helped her.
I absolutely love this entire series, but I don't know, this one just hit different and has a special place in my heart. I can't wait for the next story in the series, but this one will be stuck in my head for a while! Sable does an amazing job at writing addicting stories that keeps you transfixed with the plot. I highly recommend reading this entire series!!

I just read the blurb for this book and immediately thought that this is definitely the book for me.
The characters where well written and made me fall in love with both of them for different reasons. Kate is driven by strong morals and beliefs in what she is doing, Dom a man struggling to with addiction and loss, all while being a part of a secret society who help children.

Kate is a strong kick ass woman who struggles with the voice in her head that is fighting against her in terms of what the truth is and who the real monster is.
Dom is a swoon worthy man who will have you falling fall him by just how he treats children who are in his care.
The tension between the two is undeniable, at work and outside of their work. The spicey scenes will have you sweating and needing water.

I would highly recommend this book for those who love dark romance, morally grey characters, age gap and enemies to lovers. Definitely a great way to start my year of reading.

I was so excited for this book, I dropped everything for it. Kate's internal monologue was comical as she navigated her immediate attraction to Dom. I enjoyed her back and forth with determining if Dom really is the monster she set out to destroy, and Dom's toying with her, giving just enough to make her question everything. The way Dom is with children is totally swoon-worthy and makes you fall even more for him. And the exam scene was HOT and by far my favorite part — she was completely out of her element. A great game of cat and mouse where both thought they were the cat. With unbearable tension, high stakes suspense, and some extremely hot and steamy moments, this book leaves you questioning your sanity in the best way. Another great addition to the Gray Council series! A must read if you enjoy dark morally gray characters!.

'BEHIND THE SUTURE is the fourth book in the Gray Council series. This dark romance features a surgeon who knows exactly how much pain a body can endure, a spy whose righteous fury becomes homicidal rage, medical play that crosses every ethical line.'

The characters were very dark and complex and complicated and perfectly steamy together. Plot was intriguing and intense and exciting and well paced. World building was excellent and impressive. All in all a great addition to the series. Enjoyed immensely and highly recommend.

Awesome

This is a wonderful instalment to this series,Dom is the surgeon of the Gray Council group and Kate is a surgeon who thinks she is helping to catch child killers. She is assigned to go undercover in the hopes of proving that the Gray Council are child killers but she doesn’t know that she’s been armed with false information and evidence. Slowly the clues begin to emerge that all is not what she believed and she has already started falling for Dom. Dom who lost his wife thinks he will never fall in love again but meets Kate and starts to fall for her even knowing that she’s there to try and bring down him and his friends. If you love your men morally grey and your women kick ass and awesome then this entire series is for you. Highly recommend this author and series to everyone 🖤❤️

★ “We both want the same thing, even if she doesn't know it yet.” ★

Another riveting tale in the unapologetically vigilante series featuring members willing to get the necessary evil done in the war against the Syndicate. Kate and Dom get under each others’ skins, so much so that feelings grew, but with opposing missions, even though they were both performing surgeries at Seattle Medical. It will get bloody with betrayal, and manu lines will be crossed before they can reach their HEA.

I have no words for how good this book was. Dom is an amazing character in this. A renowned surgeon doing what needs to be done. And Kate, being deceived by the council and being led to believe he’s murdering children for the organs. What she finds out is nothing but a lie. Her attraction to Dom has her stumbling all over. I laughed. This story held depth and drama. Steaminess was in abundance. But this was so well written. I can’t wait to continue the series.

*BETA/ARC Read*
Dom is surviving - not living, after the death of his wife and his world collapsed. Given the task of making sure Kate doesn't find out about the Council even though that's why she's even in his world may be more than he can handle.

LOVED this book and the continuation of the series.

Behind the Suture os the fourth book in The Grey Council by Sable Sinclair, and my first by this author. This is a fantastic read. I love the interaction between Dom and Kate. I hate the fact that I came in the middle of series. I will definitely be on the lookout for the first three books.
