When it comes to women, keeping things casual is my forte. What can I say, I like to live life to its fullest. Then I spot the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen at The Tipsy Lizard, and I know I need to get to know her. Like a moth to a flame, I’m drawn. The only issue is, she’s dating someone else.
So, the only choice I have is to give Oaklee my number and tell her to use it when she’s single.
To my surprise, that phone call came sooner than I expected. She’s just getting out of a relationship and isn’t looking for anything serious, which is right up my alley. Spending time with her isn’t a hardship, and sending little gifts to her office to say hello is a lot more fun than I would have imagined.
The problem is, I’m not sure I can keep her safely in the friend zone much longer.
Oaklee
Relocating to a small town was exactly what I needed. However, from the moment I arrived in Cooper Town, everything seemed to snowball. The jerk I was dating decided to cheat, leaving me in a new place with a new job and a support system of one to lean on.
Meeting Cade at a bar turned out to be more than just a casual happenstance.
Being around him is easy. He’s gorgeous, charismatic, fun, and always sends me little things to let me know he’s thinking of me. When I have to start working beside my ex, Cade kicks it into overdrive, showing me exactly how easy it could be to fall for a guy like him. Too bad he’s not looking for forever. Cade only wants right now.
Suddenly, my easiest hello might be my hardest goodbye.
Avid reader, writer, mother, and wife! I love to read contemporary romance. Add in a little "spice" or hot guys in uniform pants, and I'm a happy woman. There's just something about diving into a book and engrossing in the magic of your hero and heroine getting their happily ever after.
I absolutely loved A Simple Hello by Lacey Black; it is an incredible friends to lovers love story. It is the second book in her Cooper Town Boys series. Lacey Black is an amazing storyteller and is a must read; one-click author for me. I was hooked from the first few pages, it was impossible to put A Simple Hello down, and I loved every moment on every page. It filled me with a rollercoaster of emotions. It is one of the most enjoyable books that I have read recently. Who does not love hot sexy men, strong females, loving families, and friends, who always support one another? A Simple Hello is the story of Cade Miller, heavy equipment operator for a local construction company, former Marine and Oaklee Daniels, nurse. Oaklee relocates to Cooper Town after accepting an RN position at North Ridge Medical of Cooper Town to be closer to her long-term boyfriend, Lance Williams, a physician who practices in North Ridge. Oaklee and Cade meet at The Tipsy Lizard on the night that she arrives in Cooper Town. Cade is immediately attracted to Oaklee, but she informs him that she is dating someone. Shortly after that night Oaklee decides on a surprise visit to Lance, only to be more surprised when a woman opens the door to Lance’s apartment. Once Cade learns that Oaklee is single, he pursues her further. They agree to become friends, Oaklee is not looking for a relationship after spending the last six years in an on again and off again relationship with Lance. I love all the little things that Cade has delivered to the clinic office for Oaklee. I love the chemistry between Oaklee and Cade, their conversation flows so easily, with innuendos and playful banter, and Cade constantly flirting and dirty talking to get Oaklee to blush. I love that he always calls her beautiful. As they spend time together things change between them and quickly heat up. They decide on a fling, for as long as it lasts. One of my favorite parts is how they each realize that this relationship is different than others they have had in the past and that Oaklee recognizes that Cade treats her differently than Lance every did. I love all the changes that both Oaklee and Cade are willing to make in their lives to have a life with one another. An unexpected plot twist tests their relationship; I love that a heart-to-heart conversation between Oaklee and Cade that resolves the plot twist. I love how they finally admit their feelings for each other. I love Cade’s family and how they quickly embrace Oaklee, especially Lizzie, Charli, and Charli’s friend, Sommer. I love the ending of their love story. My favorite part are the epilogues told from each of their perspectives and how it goes above a happily ever after. The epilogues are the perfect ending of their love story. Another favorite part was the bonus scene shown from both Cade’s and Oaklee’s perspective where Oaklee gets a tattoo and Cade’s matching tattoo with Collin are described. Some of the moments between Cade and Oaklee are truly special and brought tears to my eyes. I really enjoy how the book is told in the first person from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting the insight and feelings from the different characters. I love that the dialogue that Lacey Black chooses perfectly fits her characters. My favorite part of the book is how Lacey Black incorporates the title of the book into the love story with simple statements from Cade. This page turner is filled with heartbreaking, heartwarming, poignant, and bittersweet moments as well as plot twists and surprises that I have come to love and expect in a love story and was not disappointed with Lacey Black’s delivery of those things. I love the moments where I found myself laughing. I love how Lacey Black managed to create the "perfect" heroine, who is a strong, sassy woman on her own, to balance out the sexy, swoon worthy man. I love the characters and the family dynamic in A Simple Hello. The characters feel like family and friends, especially Oaklee’s relationship her best friend, Allison, and her relationship with Cade, and his siblings, especially Charli. I love that their friendship feels like family. I enjoyed all the interactions between all the Miller siblings, especially their chat stream, it feels like real family love and makes me laugh at their teasing. I love catching up with Lizzie and Collin. I love the descriptions of the Cooper Town location. I loved A Simple Hello and am so excited to read the other books in the series. Who does not love family and friends that always have each other’s backs? This book had my interest from the start, and I fell in love with the story. I thoroughly enjoyed A Simple Hello who does not love a friends to lovers love story. Highly recommend this incredible love story. Received an advanced copy from the author.
We are back in Cooper Town with book two. A Simple Hello is Cade Miller’s story. We got to see lots of Cade in book one as Colin’s twin brother, but in this one Cade is the star.
Whie Colin and Care are identical Cade, and his brother are pretty much opposites. While Colin is reserved, quiet, and a little grumpy, Cade is playful, fun, and much more sociable. Like Colin, Cade was in the service but in different organisations. When Cade left the forces, he used the skills he learned to work in construction on heavy machinery. He loves his job and is proud of his accomplishments. He’s always there for his family and is supportive of them all but of course, has a special connection to his twin. Cade is a lot of fun, and he made those around him happy with his personality. Don’t get it wrong though, he’s a strong man and will protect those he loves.
Oaklee enters the picture moving to Cooper Town after following her boyfriend. Oaklee’s relationship is questionable with her and Lance being on again off again for years. She moves to be closer to him but not live with him, but shortly afterwards finds him with another woman. She is sweet and smart and compassionate, but she gave up her dreams and lost herself a little. Cooper Town was a draw because she has a nursing friend who told her about the position and loves the idea of the life in Cooper town.
These two meet when Oaklee is in town for her interview and Cade is instantly attracted, but at that time Oaklee is loyal to Lance. That doesn’t stop Cade turning on the charm and while Oaklee doesn’t take Cade up on his offer, she is intrigued by him and can see the appeal of a man like him. After some time in Cooper Town, they meet again and with Cade knowing she’s single he intends to take his swing. He’s not a stupid man though, he knows he won’t be able to rush Oaklee, and he sets out to be her friend and win her over slowly. Cade pulls out all the stops without being over the top. It’s all the little simple things he does that make him so damn loveable.
Oaklee puts up a bit of fight but keeping someone like Cade at arm’s length is almost impossible, and eventually she caves to his charms and sweet ways.
Like the first book Lacey Black doesn’t pull a huge third act break up. There is minimal conflict and everyone keeps a level head. There are no games being played by the main characters and I loved that. The side characters only add to the story with their own brand of humour and sass.
If you’re looking for a sweet, fun story that’s romantic and fills your cup up with a simple story that you can lose yourself in, then A Simple Hello and the Cooper Town Boys series might be just what you are looking for.
A Simple Hello has that kind of easy, warm, addictive energy that sneaks up on you. Cade is that guy who pretends he’s all jokes and flirting and no feelings, but the second he meets Oaklee you can tell something shifts in him, even if he doesn’t admit it out loud, and it’s so sweet watching him try to play it cool when he’s actually falling harder than he ever expected. Oaklee broke my heart a little, because she’s trying so hard to rebuild herself after being in a relationship where she kept shrinking to fit someone else’s life, and when she finds out her boyfriend cheated on her, it hurts, but it also opens this door she didn’t even know she needed, and watching her slowly find her place in Cooper Town, with new friends, a new job, and this guy who actually sees her, just hits in a really emotional way. She’s strong, but she’s tired, and she’s hopeful, and she’s scared, and all of that makes her feel so human. The way Cade treats her is honestly what got me the most, because it’s not big dramatic gestures, it’s all the tiny things: the little gifts, the simple hellos, the way he pays attention to what she likes, the way he shows up without making a big deal out of it... and it’s so obvious he’s falling for her long before he even realizes it himself. And Oaklee feels it too, even though she keeps telling herself she’s not ready, and the whole friends‑with‑benefits thing is so funny because literally everyone can see it’s not just that, except them. Their connection grows in this slow, soft way that feels really emotional, like two people who didn’t think they deserved something good suddenly realizing maybe they do, and the whole small‑town vibe just makes everything feel even warmer, because Cade’s family pulls Oaklee in like she’s always belonged there, and the friendships she builds make her feel less alone, and you can feel her starting to breathe again. There’s no huge dramatic breakup, no screaming, no running away, just two people figuring out how to trust themselves and each other, and it makes the emotional moments hit even harder because they feel honest and earned. And even when the ending comes a little fast, the epilogues make it feel complete, like you’re getting this little glimpse of the life they built together, and it leaves you with that full feeling in your chest. I just felt genuinely happy because Cade finally let himself want something real, and Oaklee finally found someone who loved her the way she deserved, and together they felt steady and warm and right. It’s the kind of romance that doesn’t scream or twist you up, it just slowly fills you with this quiet, emotional sweetness.

A Simple Hello Cooper Town Boys Series, Book 2 Lacey Black
Cade and Oaklee
In book 1, Collin meets the new bar owner Lizzie, and they get their HEA. Cade is Collin’s twin and he is happy for his brother. Cade has always played the part of bachelor but when he watches Collin and Lizzie, he admits to himself that he wants that, wants what his parents have. At Lizzie’s place, all their friends are gathered when Cade is blindsided by a woman walking in with one of their friends. He walks over, flirts, smiles, plays the part, but things don’t quite go as planned.
Oaklee has just interviewed for a job in the small town, and grateful to her friend for the recommendation. Oaklee wasn't exactly sure where her life was taking her until finally her boyfriend called. But things didn't exactly pan out like she thought they would. But, best decision ever to move to Copper Town.
From a past series, I was a huge fan of Lizzie, and now her story with this new series. In book 1, all of Collin’s siblings were introduced and I was instantly engrossed into this series and small town. Love Collin and Lizzie and so ready for more. Despite what people see on the outside with Cade, you know and can feel how much he admires his brother and his relationship. These men are swoon worthy, teddy bears, and so respectful…you want everyone to have their HEA. These are easy to read, a lot of fun, and so entertaining. Look forward to the rest! Thank you to #GiveMeBooksPR
After meeting Collin and being introduced to the small town of Cooper Town, I was excited to dive into Cade’s story. After watching his brother fall in love, Cade is ready for his own chance at something real—but that doesn’t erase his past, where he’s never had trouble finding a good time with women. Oaklee arrives in town after her nursing school friend, Allison, tells her about an opportunity at the local clinic. It’s the perfect chance to be closer to her boyfriend, Lance, a doctor in a nearby city. From the moment Cade lays eyes on Oaklee at the Lizard, he’s smitten. She quickly turns down his advances and lets him know she has a boyfriend, but that doesn’t stop him from giving her his number, telling her to call when her boyfriend “singles her up”—proving you should never underestimate the meaning behind a country song. When Oaklee decides to surprise Lance, another woman answers his door, and she discovers he’s been cheating on her for months. With her life already uprooted, Oaklee decides to make the best of her new beginning in Cooper Town. Maybe spending time with Cade could be fun—especially since she knows that he doesn't do more than casual - at least that's the rumor. Cade begins sending thoughtful gifts and simple messages just to say hello, showing Oaklee he’s thinking of her. As they spend more time together, it becomes clear that Oaklee is falling in love. But is it too soon? And could Cade be ready to be more than a playboy?
I am loving this new series by Lacey! This one stole my heart with Cade and Oaklee! You will love their story so much, and the swooning, perfect! 5 Cooper Town stars for this one! Cade has never wanted a relationship, until he watched his twin brother fall in love. Now he's secretly yearning for that. When Oaklee walked into the Tipsy Lizard, that's when he knew he was a goner! But she is seeing someone, and that didn't stop him from giving her his number. There was just something about her, and he's hoping the guy singles her up! Oaklee has pretty much lived her life according to her boyfriends life. Now moving to Cooper Town, to be closer to him, he's a doctor, and thanks to her good friend, she was able to find a job, and a place to live. When she meets Cade, she's wildly attracted to him, but she would never cheat. Until she finds out her boyfriend doesn't live by the same rules. Now spending time with Cade, and all the little things he does with her and for her, have her falling fast. But he's not a relationship kind of guy, or so she thinks. Cade is falling right along with her and she doesn't know it! This story was so sweet, hot, and so amazingly written by Lacey! Her small town romances always pull me in and I don't want them to end! You will love this one, grab it asap!
There is nothing simple about A Simple Hello—the second book in Cooper Town Boys by Lacey Black.
After an outstanding first book, this follow-up completely stole my romantic heart. The swoon bar was already set high, but this time? It’s on another level.
Up next is Cade and Oaklee. Cade is the laid-back brother with that irresistible twinkle in his eye and a way with words that makes it very clear he’s never been the settling-down type—yet somehow, everyone loves him. And honestly, it’s not hard to see why.
When Oaklee quite literally lands at his feet, that “simple hello” is anything but simple. She’s in a relationship at the time, so Cade, being the good man he is, simply hands her his number and tells her to call him when she’s single—never expecting anything to come of it.
Fast forward a few months, and Oaklee has relocated to Copper Town as a nurse starting fresh in the small town was suppose to bring her closer to her boyfriend but when she finds he’s been cheating, she’s now left picking up the pieces but Cooper town, is the kind of small town that offers that sense of belonging you just can’t find anywhere else. she isn’t looking to jump straight into another relationship… but fate clearly has other plans.
Because Cade? He’s everywhere.
With Oaklee forming close friendships with his sister and her circle, their paths keep crossing. What begins as an easy, natural friendship—shared dinners, movie nights, quiet moments—slowly shifts into something deeper. Something undeniable.
And that “simple hello”? It’s about to turn into so much more.
Once again, Lacey Black delivers everything true romance readers crave: a cheeky, utterly adorable book boyfriend, a small town full of heart, and a love story that feels both effortless and all-consuming. Nobody does small-town swoon quite like her.
Tropes: 💜Small town 🚜he falls first 💜love at first sight 🚜friends to lovers 💜sworn off relationships 🚜cinnamon roll hero 💜dual pov
l'd been waiting for Cade's story since we met him ands his twin in book 1 and his story did not disappoint me. Lacey absolutely delivered him.
Cade, meets Oaklee one night at The Tipsy Lizard and is instantly drawn to her. Cade is is friendly and super flirty. But when he asks her out she rejects him . Cade is always the the fun brother , never had a serious relationship and enjoys his life, his job and his friends and family.
Oaklee, is a new resident to Cooper Town to Be near her boyfriend of 6 years, Lance. But after moving and then ending the relationship she is slowly building a new life for herself.
What starts as a new friendship slowly morphs. What begins as something light and casual slowly begins to deepen. And although they both struggle with wanting more, they both keep their feelings hidden until it comes bubbling to the surface.
This is just one of those stories that has you smiling from start to finish. The only thing I would say is I felt a little out of sorts with the ending like it was a tad rushed. Otherwise, solid book.
Ms Black has pulled me in and wanting to go have a visit in Cooper's Town. This is Cade and Oaklee's story. It is full of surprises, buried emotions and finding yourself all over again.
Cade is known for being the fun loving charismatic brother. Loving the outdoors and always on the go. Never jumping into relationship territory but always willing to flirt and have a little fun. He loves his work and his family. Secretly yearning for a love like his parents have. One day he will find it but he's not pushing for it.
Oaklee is making a big step from the city to small town living, following her long time boyfriend and looking for the next steps. Only to find that he isn't in the same category as she is. Oaklee loves the small town and being closer to her friend. She loves her work, so she decides to stay and see what kind of life she can make here. A certain friendly fella, makes it a little easier.
Grab your copy and enjoy this friends to lovers story. As Cade will swoon you with his simple hello's and small gestures. To learning more about the outdoors and spending time with someone who actually puts you first for a chance. Will they find love when neither were looking for it?

I knew within the first couple sentences of this book that I was going to fall face first into Cades story, and the flow of this story got me so swept up, I didn’t blink until the words ‘The End’ were displayed.
“A Simple Hello” was EVERYTHING.
Before I go more into depth I must say, I am a fan favorite of the title being woven into the storyline. My only issue with it? I wish the story was never ending. Black created a masterpiece with Cade and Oaklee’s one of a kind story. This author showcased amazing world building, brilliant development, and truly incredible inner and outer dialogue that gave these main characters so much life.
Cade is by far my favorite Hero that this author has ever wrote. His energy is unmatched. To be quite honest, he was a breath of fresh air because he was so easy going with a personality to boot. I personally think his so easy-going demeanor brought out Oaklee and who she was at her core. The more she was around him, the more she bloomed.
This author has me by the throat when it comes to Cade, and I will gladly die on his hill. I’m excited to see how Black tries to up the ante with her next Hero’s story.
I’d been eagerly waiting for Cade’s story—and it absolutely delivered. Cade is charismatic, outgoing, and effortlessly flirtatious, the kind of character who instantly lights up every scene. When he meets Oaklee, he’s drawn to her right away, but her initial rejection sets the stage for a slow-burn connection that feels both natural and engaging.
Oaklee, newly relocated to Cooper Town after leaving her past behind, is easy to root for. As she builds a new life and finds her place among Cade’s circle, her growth feels authentic and heartfelt. Cade’s thoughtful gestures—simple yet meaningful—add a layer of tenderness that elevates their dynamic beyond a typical romance.
What begins as something light and uncomplicated gradually deepens into an emotional journey, as both characters struggle with vulnerability and the fear of admitting their true feelings. The chemistry is undeniable, and the balance of humor, emotion, and romance keeps the story compelling throughout.
With sharp dialogue, genuine emotional depth, and a satisfying romantic arc, this book is a standout. I’m already looking forward to the next book in the series.
Lacey Black writes the kind of sweet, small-town romances that are just right for curling up with, and A Simple Hello, the second book in her Cooper Town Boys series, fits that bill perfectly. This friends-to-lovers story follows Cade, an easy-going good guy and heavy equipment operator, and Oaklee, a nurse who's new to town and still finding her footing. Their first meeting was nothing flashy—just a simple hello—but I immediately felt that little spark of something between them. I loved their witty banter and how natural their friendship felt before things started heating up between them.
Lacey did a great job of building the kind of sweet and sexy tension that made me root for Cade and Oaklee with every passing page. A low drama, high heat, heart-filled, makes-you-smile kind of romance set in a cozy small town where everyone knows everyone else, I polished this lighthearted and addictive friends-to-lovers romance off in an afternoon. Five smooches from me for A Simple Hello by Lacey Black! ~Danielle Palumbo
This was so cute! I love how Lacey creates these family small towns and how she ties everyone and everything together. This book was fun because Cade was so set and knew immediately that Oaklee was his person. I loved how he courted her, her little gifts, etc. Oaklee is a strong character and it was nice to see her take her time in healing and knowing what she wanted. A few notes I felt the book could have had in it: - Oaklees grandparents were talked about a lot but the story around them felt lacking. There was no talk of visiting and I felt that while it gave her background, there wasn't much that added to it and I would have loved to see that side. - The end of the story actually felt abrupt! They made it a big deal that she worked for Lance after the breakup, that it opened an already closed door and there was no "finale" on it. The months just skipped by and she is no longer working for Lance.
overall, I really liked the book but compared to Lacey's previous books and series' I felt this one was lacking for me.
Coming back to Cooper Town is like coming home feeling that love and warmth right away. For Oaklee it's more like finally really feeling like she belongs. I love that we have a total stranger see how this town is really like and all the unexpected beautiful things it can bring when you not looking. Cade, have to say is definitely all about sex and fun but man Lacey Black definitely created an awesome woman to make Cade really see what has been missing in his life.. Loved seeing that no matter how much she denies him it actually makes him more determined to get in her good graces. Thes two are so perfect for each because they're not looking for anything serious but man once the heart gets in the way there's no more running. The little things that Cade does to really make Oaklee how much loved she is will just make you swoon with these simple things but it's the little hellos that will make your heart just jump. Loving this series.
"I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own."
I am loving this series! I adored Cade in book one, and somehow he’s even better in this story. Oaklee has just moved to town and definitely isn’t expecting to meet someone like Cade. These two are the perfect “right person, wrong time,” but the connection between them is impossible to ignore. Lacey’s small town writing is spot on—she pulls you right into the setting and makes you care about every character. The bond between Cade and Collin is one of my favourite parts; their family dynamic is so strong and really shines through. Oaklee and Cade had me turning the pages wanting more. It’s a slow-burn romance, but in the best, most addicting way. They’re there for each other when it counts, and their friendships add so much heart to the story. I loved the little twists throughout and honestly didn’t want this book to end. I have a feeling I know what’s coming in book three… and I am so ready for it!
A Simple Hello by Lacey Black was such a fun, heart-warming read. The banter throughout the story is fantastic—quick, playful, and the kind that makes the characters feel like real people you’d want to hang out with. I especially loved the found-family vibe, both within the friend group and with Cade’s family, especially with twin brother Collin. Those relationships added so much warmth and depth to the story.
Cade completely stole the show for me. His attentiveness to Oaklee—the way he notices the little things and shows up for her—felt incredibly genuine and swoon-worthy. It’s the kind of care and presence everyone hopes to find in a partner.
Between the humor, the supportive friendships, and Cade being an absolute dream, this was a feel-good romance that left me smiling. With almost everyone from the group still currently single (except Collin and Lizzie from book 1) I am happy to know I've got a lot more coming from this series!
4.5 stars We have returned to Cooper Town for book two, and Lacey Black has given us another fantastic small town read. I love being witness to Cade as he moves from casual to more. He is enjoying his time as a single man, yes, he wants what his parent have, but not just yet.
Oaklee has moved to Cooper Town to follow her guy, Lance. While Lance was not expecting her, she is the one surprised. This opens the door to a friendship with Cade as she is not ready for anything else. Cade is all for this, but he shows up for her, and this friends with benefits thing works great until – feelings.
If you are looking for a swoon worthy hero, look no father than Cade. We get to witness his sweet side, the little gifts, the intentional opportunities to see her. There is plenty of humor and spice. I am waiting for the next book to become available.
Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
his is such a sweet story about the happy go lucky, no strings attached, Cade, who meets Oaklee at The Tipsy Lizard one night and he feels an instant connection.
Now Oaklee on the other hand is currently dating someone, who is a complete douche, who eventually is caught cheating on Oaklee. Like I said, douche 😂
Oaklee finds herself a new resident to Cooper Town and in a friend’s with benefits-ish relationship with Cade. However, it always seems like more, as much as they don’t want to admit it.
I loved Oaklee and Cade, they seem to be a perfect match. This is just one of those stories that makes you happy. They’re a great couple with great friends and you just want to be apart of their bonfire nights 🔥
Thank you SO much Lacey Black for the advanced reader copy, I loved it and highly recommend 💜
Oaklee and Cade meet and sparks fly but she has a boyfriend so nothing comes off it. But when she's finally free of her cheating ex and one chance meet later, she agrees to one date. She not ready for anything serious and he's on board - or so he says.
Spending time together, having a blast start to awake feelings they never saw coming. He wants more, she is not sure what she wants and when the time comes to chose, she freaks and he walks. But finding someone special is a once in a lifetime experience and if they're not careful they might loose the best things that's ever happened to them.
This story was filled with great banter, witty comebacks and a lot of laughter. I fell in love with Cade in book 1 and i'm so happy to see him settling down with a worthy woman.

Simple Hello by Lacey Black is a heartfelt romance centered on respect, friendship, and the slow evolution of love. Cade and Oaklee’s relationship begins with an easy, genuine connection that naturally grows into a friends-with-benefits arrangement. Rather than rushing their journey, the story thoughtfully explores the emotional depth behind their choices. What stands out most is the steady, believable progression of their bond. Cade’s reliability pairs perfectly with Oaklee’s guarded nature, creating a dynamic that feels authentic and relatable. Their chemistry builds gradually through meaningful moments and honest interactions, making their connection even more compelling. Simple Hello is a fantastic read for anyone who loves stories where friendship forms the foundation for lasting, meaningful love.
This is the second book in this impressive series, and this is Cade and Oaklee’s story. Cade is a cinnamon roll hero, and when he sees Oaklee in “The Tipsy Lizard,” he is instantly drawn to her, but she is in a relationship, so he gives her his number for when she is single. Oaklee moved to this small town for her boyfriend, but when she catches him cheating, the call to Cade comes sooner than he thought it would. This is a well written easy to read story, with family, friendships, emotions, tension, friends / lovers, challenges, humour, witty banter, off the chart’s chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, sweet, and fun, small town romance. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Well hello to you!! A simple hello to a beautiful stranger new to Cooper town starts Cade's heart thumping. Cade is the town register bachelor. He sexy and hard working the hot twin lol. He is the twin brother to Collin who found love in book one. Then Oaklee a hot nurse shows up in book two at the tipsy lizard the bar that Collins girlfriend owns. Oakley and Cade feel sparks instantly. Yet at this time Oaklee has a on again off again boyfriend. She moved closer to be with him but not living with him. Cade finds ways to be in Oaklee life as a friend. He wants more and will wait until Oaklee is ready. Patience time and knowing what feels right is brought out in Lacey's writing. Friends to lovers. A wonderful fun read for Oaklee and Cade to find their love.
Cade is a player, not one to become attached. But with Oaklee, things are different. He meets her when she still has a boyfriend, so it just stays with a simple hello and her turning him down. When he finds out she’s single, he’s determined to be there for her, even as a friend, and who know what the future holds. Cade can be pretty persuasive, but he has the charm to get away with it. Oaklee is not looking for a new relationship, she just got out of one, and she needs time to heal. But with Cade, everything just comes naturally. And she feels things could be different than what she’s used to. This was a lighthearted, feel-good read that made me fall in love with Cade and Oaklee from the beginning.
Even though Cade would like to find the woman he wants to spend his life with until then he is happy being single. When he meets Oaklee he can’t deny his attraction to her but isn’t about to come between her and her boyfriend so instead he suggests her to contact him if she is single.
Oaklee is more committed to her boyfriend than he is to her as evidenced by her moving to Cooper Town to be close to him only to find out he hasn’t been faithful. This gives her an opportunity to spend time with Cade and even though neither was looking for anything serious she can’t deny how special he makes her feel.
Cade is swoony as he shows Oaklee how she deserves to be treated and the romance between them is touching and incorporates humor and all the feels.
Good small town series. Oaklee moves to Cooper Town to be closer to her boyfriend. Luckily, she had a friend and co-worker to rely on since the boyfriend soon becomes an ex.
Cade is cocky, has a unique (for a book boyfriend) job in construction - I actually loved that part - and won't swoop in yet...but makes it clear to give him a call when she is "singled up" so to speak. LOL
These two are cute together and lack of communication almost dooms them, but luckily it doesn't.
This was an easy read and entertaining series so far.
I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first A Simple Request (Cooper Town Boys #1)
This is Oaklee and Cade’s story. He has never had a long-term relationship, but he is drawn to Oaklee from the start. They become friends and spend time together. But when they both want more is it the right time for them? After all she was just hurt by a relationship, and he never had one to go on. Can they make something work?

I have been waiting for Cade and Oaklee! Lacey Black always leaves me wanting the next book! Cade is the easy going flirt that instantly makes you smile! Oaklee is new to Cooper Town. Putting her past behind her, she is building a new life in Cade's circle. Lacey's character are always authentic and heartfelt, you can tell their growth is real! While the chemistry is hot, the vulnerability of both characters compelling. The combination of laughs, emotions and romance is everything you need in a book!
