Perfect the suspense and tension.
This was perfection and I’m so curious to see what else happens in Maria’s life while she left and then seeing Dominic and now Evelyn like what if his mother and her were more than friends I’m excited to see what’s next this book put tension and suspense in every way.

I don’t actually have that much to say about Ace of Spades, and that’s not a bad thing. It was a solid read, I flew through it in two days, so clearly it kept my attention.

I do think it could’ve benefited from being a little longer. The tension between the FMC, Marianne, and the MMC, Dominic, felt like it skipped a few crucial steps. I just wanted a bit more build-up, a little more slow burn, maybe a few extra longing looks across the room before the clothes started flying.

One thing I really did love, though, was the little pockets of wisdom sprinkled throughout the book. At one point, Marianne’s mother says: “Busy is relative, mon amour. If someone is late it means it’s not important to them. Full stop.” And honestly? That line rewired something in my brain.

NOW. It would be rude not to address this and I’m only going to say it once: If you marry your dead best friend’s husband, you are a freak. I don’t mean that kindly, gently or with room for debate. You simply cannot convince me otherwise.

I am still interested enough to wait for book two. I want to see where these characters go next and how they develop, so clearly the story did its job.

I’m also leaving this quote here because it felt important and quietly devastating in the best way: “Maybe I thought it was for love. Maybe I convinced myself it was for us. But more and more, it feels like I am just playing a role in someone else’s version of what a good life looks like.”

Recommend from TikTok. MINI SPOIL!!!

I saw this book originally on TikTok and was draw to the story line, the description I saw was wildly different but I truly believe the book is still good. I’m ready for book 2 because i have a lot of unanswered questions.

I truly don’t agree with how the FMC handles a lot of things in the middle and end because at the beginning she was described as very strong and confident towards the middle and end she wasn’t anything like that I wish she would have kept that part of herself but I do see how it develops back towards the end. I love Dominic’s character just wish had more background.

I love this book so much. I was hooked after I finished reading the prologue. Love the tension between Maria and Dominic since the beginning of the story. I actually liked Nick at the beginning but I can’t after what he did to Maria. The Ending had me gasping the whole time. Can’t wait for book 2 and see what happens with Maria and Dominic next.
