Even the Void Can Bleed...After defeating the eldritch nanomachine tide and saving the Seramist Isles, Kay’s worries aren’t over. His triumphant return home to a flourishing kingdom is cut short by the hordes of vampyr swarming into his territory from the ravaged wasteland.
Yet the unknown vampyric “Great One” is only part of the danger Kay must face. Something has been lurking in the background, manipulating events from the shadows to its liking.
It is cunning. It is patient. It is hungry.
If Kay can’t resist the hunger from the void, everything he’s come to know and love may cease to exist.
Kay has saved the Seramist Isles, however his work is far from over, he wants to just return to Avalon and enjoy some downtime with his friends, but there is no rest for the king. His kingdom is being ravished by vampyr, and he needs to rally allies from all over the realm to defeat this threat. But the vampyr are usually quite mindless, and Kay feels that the 'chosen one' they are speaking of, is the one pulling their strings, further more there might be even something else which is far more dangerous lurking in wait for Kay. Can he defeat the hungry void, the devourer of universes? This is another very exciting book in which we see Kay, the blood progenitor, fighting to save those he has come to care for, and they in turn are all playing their part too. The ending to this book is a great surprise and I look forward to discovering what is happening in Kay's court in book 7.
Title: A nice wrap up with a solid tie-in to the rest of the saga Content Ratings: Language – R; Violence – PG13; Other – R
This is a good finish to the first arc of the "Splintered Five Saga". The action picks up right after the previous book ended and methodically works through the various plot and relationship threads to bring things to a satisfying conclusion. We also get a few clues about the overarching theme of the saga. I was a bit surprised that the biggest suspense in the book showed up in the epilog, which also ended in a bit of a surprise. I was already invested after reading book 1 of the second of the 5 (Soul Card), and after finishing this, I'm even more excited.
I think the series finished? There was a lot of fighting, an enemy was partially defeated, and then an epilogue randomly jumps forward about 15 years and weird inexplicable things happen. Didn't love it.
