She didn’t tell me I had a son. But the second I saw those blue eyes — I knew.
I left her behind six years ago with nothing but excuses and a broken promise. Now I’m back to clean up the wreckage of my life… and I find out I left more than a woman behind. I left a legacy. My blood. A boy with my eyes and her fire.
She says it’s too late. She says she doesn’t need my money, my name, or my guilt. But I don’t give a damn what she needs. I’m the heir to an empire, and I didn’t fight my way back from hell to watch someone else raise my son.
She’s scared I’ll hurt him. She should be scared what I’ll do to protect him.
She blocked my number on her phone. So I bought the phone company.
Read on for secret sons, billionaire obsession, brutal forgiveness, and a man who will burn down everything he built just to put his name on the boy with his eyes. HEA Guaranteed!
This was an adorable story that I enjoyed very much !! Mya is a single mother who works at her father's garage fixing cars and doing administrative work along with racing her son. It's very hard work. But she does the best she can. Dylan, her high school sweetheart left years ago. No forwarding address. Phone disconnected. No way to get in touch. Well , he just waltzes into the garage like he never left . Says he's changed. Umm hmmm...... Mya and Dylan were a delightful read . So glad I picked this up !!
2.5 I was interested enough to finish the book (possible spoilers ahead) The book was a quick read.
I think h was a BW and H was a WM. They were high school sweethearts. H was/is an adrenaline junkie. His family is rich, so he can afford to be one. 🙃 H got into gambling and he owed some people a lot of money. He freaked, packed his stuff and left. Yep! He ghosted h afterwards, by changing his phone number and he moved away. She was never able to tell him she was pregnant
“the last time I saw Dylan Huntington, he was shoving clothes into a duffel bag at 3 AM, promising to call once he "figured things out”
7 years later, H is back. His BFF died a year prior due to H’s driving. He has plans to change his life and start a foundation for his BFF. (H was NOT celibate. He was described as a Manw*ore. I don’t think it ever said anything about h)
So…the 7 years has not been easy for h. She has a 7 year old son. She’s struggling. I found her struggles and her POV about single motherhood to be so relatable. She works for her dad in his mechanics shop. She can barely feed her kid.
H comes to see h. Let’s just say….she didn’t play around with him. She told him about the kid. H immediately wants to be “all in” and he does start trying. h will have to learn to trust him not to run again.
Naturally, the past comes calling. The bookies still want their money he skipped out on (not sure why he didn’t pay it. He was rich) They threatened the little boy which causes h to pull back from H- she says some awful things to him. H works with the police to bring them down. He gets sh*t but recovers.
The epilogue is where they get engaged and H finds out h is pregnant again.
Personally, the H was not redeemable to me. He deserved to grovel way more than he did.
The two things I really liked about this book- the author’s writing of h in the beginning and how she depicted the kid. Usually I don’t like kids dialogue in books, but this kid was cute.
All in all; if you’re looking for a quick read with a dash of open door spice and low drama, you may like this.
I’d rate the spice *maybe* a 2 🌶️. It’s there, but it’s not super detailed.
Loved the MCs. Mya the strong, beautiful single black mom that was giving everything she had to raise her son well, but was it was tough. Dylan the rich, trust fund, but with no direction or ambition- reformed jackoff that was finally trying to do something meaningful with his life. He grew on me from the beginning. His character was taking accountability for his poor choices and mistakes, trying to clean himself up. Glad they didn’t drag out the “secret” once Dylan returned so we go to see things unfold there. We don’t really get a lot of a-holery from Dylan once he gets his stuff together. To be honest, he Familiar storyline that isnt new, but was paced well, sensible building of chemistry and reconnecting between the two. You do get good twists in the story to add some excitement, but was pretty straightforward. I didn’t really understand how the secret baby was really a secret as long as it. Also “reformed” Dylan was a little too perfect in his transformation, with no real job besides a charity…not my favorite book boyfriend, but at least he wasn’t an a-hole🤷🏾♀️. Still quick read with pretty good second chance story.
a quick heartfelt read that will leave you smiling
Heir With His Eyes by Vixa Vaughn is a touching second-chance romance that blends emotional depth with a fast-paced, feel-good story. The premise is instantly gripping: a powerful heir returns after six years and discovers he has a son—a boy with his eyes and his former lover’s fire.
What makes this story shine is its emotional vulnerability wrapped in alpha intensity. The male lead is determined to reclaim what he lost—not just the woman he left behind, but the child he never knew existed. His fierce protectiveness and raw regret add layers to the romance, while the heroine’s strength and independence keep the story grounded.
The story gave me a flashback of after my first child was born. I did everything I should when it came to him. Then I got pregnant 4 yrs later for some reason it was a easy pregnancy but I went through a depression after giving birth, that’s when I learn to escape my problems when I didn’t want to deal with them. The thing is it’s not just men like Dylan trying to run from life, some women are the same way. I love Mya strength & protectiveness for her son. This was a really good read.
Bad decisions, running, death, fear, threats and love is the opening for second chances.
Mya, Kayden and Dylan were able to begin a journey of self discovery and love. A path to forgiveness and giving Dylan the chance to find the ability to honor his friend through tragedy.
Kayden was the blessing for his mother, father and both sets of grandparents. Through the eyes of this child new beginnings were established and second chances emerged.
I thought it was going to go different than what it did. I just knew Mya was going to hold some kind of grudge for Dylan leaving. but instead she told him and allowed him a chance for a relationship with a son that he didn't know about. and a second chance with her. he turned out to be a stand up guy. but I think I would have given his parents a chance at being grandparents even if he wasn't in the picture.
Dylan once sought off of having a good time. Money, alcohol, fast cars, and gambling. That is until tragedy struck. Then he realized that he needed to change. Going back home was the best choice. He was looking for a second chance. A chance he had to earn. Mya was no push over. He had to earn everything. Great short read
Good reading, loved spirt of family and unity.. This a new writer for me, the wring was memorable. I will research this writer and will be sure to pick up more of her books.
Dylan and Mya story was something else, I enjoyed reading their story, to see the strength in Mya after what she went through and to see how Dylan grew to be a better man and how he tried to right the things he had done wrong.
This was a great read. I love the fact that she gave him another chance. I love the dinosaur theme. I found nothing wrong with the story. Great book. Excellent story.
I don’t know, it took me awhile to finish this book. The characters were okay, but they did not really impress me. Each was good, but maybe I’ve gotten spoiled by the strong alpha type, and the main male character felt kind of weak. I just made myself finish this book.
This one had everything; even tears 😭 Mya and Dylan were in love and Dylan ran towards the fast life. Mya was left with broken promises & raised Kayden as a single Mom. Loved that Dylan formed a foundation and that they both had a do over to an HEA 🥰🥰
A fantastic read. From chapter one filled with angst and drama that will take you there. A story of loss, hope, forgiveness and the redemption of love.
