This thriller is addictive! It kept me reading late into the night. I couldn’t put it down! Secrets, double lives, deception, and betrayal combine to create an original, intense, and highly entertaining page turner.

The story itself wasn’t bad, and it’s a fast read that kept me turning pages.

But I wouldn’t recommend this one. The writing was juvenile and there were random Britishisms throughout even though the characters were American and the book was set in the tri-state area. The descriptions of the same character was often inconsistent, even from the perspective of the same person (was Amy very beautiful or mousy? Were her pants stylish or sensible? We will never know). And a lot of telling rather than showing — the MC literally said “this is something ominous” instead of letting the writing indicate that.

I also found it strange how Amy found the photographs the exact same day she found Becca. That really made this feel extra silly. And who marries, has a kid with, and lives for years with someone and first googles, in her own words, “verifiable information” about him.

And the MC didnt call the police when she realized what was happening. So frustrating! So Freida McFadden!

We also get hints about MC’s father with no explanation or resolution.

One last nitpick - Becca would not waste the expense on Craig’s apartment. Not buying it. Still it kept me entertained if not annoyed, and it was a decent way to pass the time.

Thank you NetGalley and Inkubator Books for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

This was a fast paced read, though I did think it went a bit over the top as it continued. It centers on Amy, who thinks she is living a perfect life when she finds out that her husband Craig is harboring major secrets. Craig is traveling so she has just a few days to figure out what is going on and take matters into her own hands.

Amy is pretty easy to root for, though both Craig and the “other woman” Becca felt a bit like caricatures. I liked the investigation piece of the book, though I did think Amy sometimes jumped to conclusions awfully quickly. As we get towards the end of the book, that’s when I thought things went a little off the rails. While exciting to read, I definitely had to suspend my disbelief and felt like the storyline got a little silly. I also didn’t really love the ending of the book but I get what the author was trying to do.

Overall, strong premise and quick reading but verged into the unrealistic pretty quickly. Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 ⭐️| This book was definitely perfectly titled, as these secrets were between everybody! I mean the lies, deception and trickery was unmatched! Craig’s shenanigans were evident from the start. What I didn’t expect was how deep of the secrets went between Craig, Amy & Becca. It was intriguing trying to figure out the storylines and how these 3 seemingly normal adults worlds collide. The author did a great job building suspense, as you weave through this web of lies.

Overall an enjoyable domestic thriller that I would recommend! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The Secrets Between Us by cyan Michael, it’s the weekend and Amy is looking forward to relaxing her son Asher is with her mom and husband Craig is off on a business trip. She’s just doing a few chores to get them out the way when she finds a notice in her husband‘s pocket saying that his child’s pictures are ready at Saint Mary’s the only problem is that isn’t where their son attends pre-K. One clue leads to another and she soon learns Craig has another wife named Becca and son also named Asher. if Amy thinks her biggest issue is telling Becca that she is also married to Craig she has another thing coming. This book was so twisty and turning and it was just so good I was not expecting it to be as amazing as it was. Sometimes when reading a book suspending belief is something you don’t even think about because the book is so good and that is definitely the case with this book. I mean Amy starts out being a loving mother and wife to learning all the secrets about her husband Craig and evolving into still being a loving mother but the links she will go to protect her son is OMG outrageous! trust me if you love twisty thrillers with the compelling storyline and characters you love to hate you will definitely enjoy this book because I love those things and absolutely couldn’t stop reading it. What an awesome awesome read! #BookSprout, #TheBlindReviewer, #MyHonestReview, #CyanMichael, #TheSecretsBetweenUs,

The synopsis of this book drew me in. At the start, a hard-working mom ends her day as a leatherworker and drops off clothes at the dry-cleaning on her way home. A small paper is found in her husband's clothes and returned to the main character, which turns out to be a pickup slip for school photos. The problem? The child in the pictures is not her own son, but is of another child that looks eerily similar to hers. This inciting incident sparks a flurry of questions that pushes her to find out the truth about who this child (and her husband) is.

My thoughts: The premise was really interesting. I was curious to know how the main character would address the situation and work to find answers. One of the problems I had with the story was the over-explanation. The inner dialogue of the characters (specifically the main character) was a little bit too much and led to a lot of telling instead of showing. There were times where her observations and thoughts pulled me out of the story instead of immersing me in it (details like nail polish were mentioned in a serious situation for the characters). Some of the language that was used seemed out of place. I understood why the main character had made some choices, but had to suspend disbelief for the ending. Parts of the MC's past, like her dad, were brought up and sprinkled in as important, but did not lead to anything at the end and was not explained enough for me.

Y’all. 😳 The Secrets Between Us by Cyan Michaels had me clutching my imaginary pearls, side-eyeing my Wi-Fi router, and double-checking my husband’s “business trips.” 👀

Amy thinks she’s living the dream — sweet hubby, cute kid, perfect suburban setup. But when she stumbles across a photo that shouldn’t exist (hello, identical boy in a school her son doesn’t attend?!), that dream life turns into a high-speed, caffeine-fueled nightmare. 🚨

Amy’s panic practically vibrates off the page — you can feel her heart pounding as she peels back each chilling layer of Craig’s double life. Michaels’ writing is sharp and sensory — you can taste the dread, hear the clock ticking down those 72 hours, and see the lies cracking like glass. 💥

The pacing? Smooth and tense. The twist? Darker than a Monday morning coffee with no creamer. ☕️
A few beats felt a smidge too tidy for me (thus the 4⭐️), but overall? Addictive, twisty, and disturbingly fun.

Wow! Fab book! Was gripped from the beginning. Although you know where the story is going, I didnt expect the twist!

Amy is married to Craig and they have a child called Asher. Craig works away part of the week, due to his job. Whilst sorting cleaning, Amy finds a picture in her husbands pocket of Asher at a local school. Why is it there? Why had Craig not mentioned anything?

Whilst attending a school meeting, Amy is introduced to Becca. An influencer who also has a son and a husband that works away

Here the mystery starts! But how does it end!?

Loved it! Hoping for another book!

I really liked the pacing of this book. The short chapters and the countdown style kept things moving fast and gave it that sense of urgency. As Amy digs deeper into her investigation, some of the twists get a little over-the-top and a few of the side characters don’t feel fully fleshed out, but the main mystery definitely kept me hooked. Amy’s a character you can root for, even if she tends to jump to conclusions a bit too quickly.

The twists toward the end felt pretty wild, but you can tell Michaels knows how to build suspense. I also liked the psychological side of it, especially around themes of trust and perception.

If you’re into domestic thrillers with high stakes, quick pacing, and plenty of shocking reveals, The Secrets Between Us is a solid pick. It’s not perfect, but it’s a fun, fast read—and the ending will make you question how well you really know the people closest to you.

The start was very promising, a hard working mom/wife accidentally finds a flyer of a fotographer, when she notices it’s about a young boy’s pictures, she realises the boy is looking a lot like her son, but isn’t.

As a reader I was very curious about how the story would unfold. I found myself a bit lost in the MC’s head, inconsistent thoughts, it carried me away from the story itself.

Nice theme, with a strong start but a bit disappointing as it continues….

Amy is the owner of a handbag repair store with high end clients. She loves her work and also uses it as a time filler for when her husband is traveling for work as he does every week for 4 days, the same 4 days every week. This is the readers first hint that something else is going on.

When you read a lot of thrillers the plots can start to blur together but this story stood out. There are a lot of twists and I did not expect the book to go where it did. A very well written book that is best to go in with no expectations and just enjoy the ride!

this was a strong psychological thriller novel, it had that element that I was looking for and enjoyed from this type of book. The characters were everything that I wanted in this and had that element that worked in this universe. It was a strong psychological element that I wanted and was engaged with the suspenseful atmosphere that I was hoping for. Cyan Michaels wrote this well and was glad I got to read this.

The Secrets Between Us was a gripping and emotional thriller that kept me turning the pages. This ss a fast-paced psychological thriller that kept me turning pages with its mystery and tension. The story follows Amy Taylor, who believes she has a stable suburban life with her husband Craig and their young son...until she discovers a school photo receipt in Craig’s jacket pocket that doesn’t make sense and shows a boy who looks eerily like their son. That small discovery launches Amy into a harrowing investigation over a weekend while her husband is away, uncovering secrets far bigger than she ever expected.

I appreciated how the author built suspense quickly with short chapters and a ticking-clock feel as Amy tries to piece together the truth about Craig’s double life, and the perspective shifts between different characters added layers to the story. Amy is easy to root for, and her evolving determination to protect her son and confront the lies around her made for an engaging protagonist.

The pacing kept momentum throughout, and I liked how the tension unfolded, but there were moments where the storyline felt a little over-the-top and required some suspension of disbelief. Some plot threads wrapped up faster than I anticipated, which is part of why I’m giving this a solid four stars instead of five. That said, this was an addictive read with plenty of twists and a gripping look at how well we really know the people closest to us.

Here is my review for The Secrets Between Us by Cyan Michaels

I found this to be a gripping psychological suspense thriller that once I started reading it, I couldn’t stop! I was absolutely hooked and couldn’t put the book down as I needed to know what happened next. It was a chilling suspenseful read that was full of tension and the best plot that I have ever come across! It was brilliantly thought out and superbly written for maximum effect to keep the reader on tenter hooks throughout the book! Amy Taylor is a great character who goes through a lot in the story and her world takes a tumble when she sees a picture that changes everything. As she digs for the truth, it turns out worse than she ever thought but can she stay alive? It’s such an easy book to get into and read. The synopsis drew me to read this story and I certainly wasn’t disappointed. There was a lot of detail in the story and it was very descriptive. A lot of planning has gone into this story by the author which is very impressive. I absolutely loved reading this psychological thriller and it has to be the best I have read so far this year. I look forward to reading more stories by this author in the future.

The Secrets Between Us was a quick read but unfortunately its biggest "twist" is soo telegraphed that it took some of the enjoyment out of it.

Nervous hard-working Amy knows she's a little unconventional. She has a husband whom she sees only 3 days a week because he travels for work, she repairs luxury leathergoods for a living, and she is a bundle of nerves and anxieties that cause embarrassing rashes and red flushes. But she's a good person, loving, loyal and a doting mom to son Asher. She would do anything for her boy, including getting over her nerves and approaching the head staff at St Mary's about finding a spot for her son at their school.

While at the dry cleaners, a receipt from her husband's pocket shows a pickup order for school photos for a boy named Asher attending St Mary's school. Amy is confused as her son doesn't yet attend this school, and the thumbnail photo of the boy looks a lot like HER Asher but isn't him. Why does her husband have this receipt in his jacket pocket? This starts Amy off on the most improbable search for answers. Along the way she finds a second family, hidden rooms, murder boards and tokens.

Yes, Craig is a terrible person, but we knew something was up from the moment Amy describes spending only Tuesday evening through Thursdays with him. He has a job that she can't understand at a company she can't name doing a job she isn't clear about - something tech that silly ole her couldn't ever pin down. Other woman Becca, mother of the other Asher, is a wannabe influencer and horrible human in all ways that matter. And we are supposed to be so distracted by Amy learning about her husband and Becca and what they have been up to that the ending is a huge surprise to us.

Except it's not. All the references to Amy's upbringing and the time spent with her father is clearly taking a page from the Dexter handbook. I wasn't surprised that Amy did what she did, in fact I thought had she met Craig before Becca did, that she and Craig might have lived happily ever after doing what they both like to do.

Amy feels like she's got a pretty great life. Sure, her husband is gone most of the week for work, but she's got a wonderful young son and a fulfilling job as a leather repair specialist for high-end clients that keeps her busy. But one afternoon she discovers a flyer for ordering school photos in her husband's dry cleaning. There's just one problem - the kid on the form isn't their son. A disturbing discovery in their home's garage leads to further speculation, fear, and anger. Amy ends up Googling down a rabbit-hole of suspicion. Turns out she doesn't know her husband as well as she thinks she does, and his weekly absences for "work" are the least of her problems. What on earth can she possibly do now that she's discovered the solid life she thought she'd built is a lie?

The writing is conversational and easy to follow, and swapping between the different narrators keeps things interesting. The premise for this book caught my interest immediately, but I wasn't as fully drawn into the story as much as I would've liked. *SPOILER ALERT* - I think I would have enjoyed a lot more back story and motivation to fully understand why things occurred the way they did between all the various characters. Also, there was a lot of references to Amy's father 'prepping' her throughout her childhood, but it never got explored further and really felt like a loose end that could've been delved into - was he actually a serial killer too? Is that what Amy keeps referencing when reminiscing about being prepped? Are we supposed to just assume that's what she means? That makes the most sense considering the outcome of the story. I think my biggest assumption here is: all the characters are psychopaths, each in their own twisted way. So if you're looking for a quick, simple thriller with a 'WTF?' ending, then this would definitely be a fun little read.

Some books you pick up casually; others grab you by the throat and refuse to let go. Cyan Michaels' "The Secrets Between Us" is firmly in the latter category, and I found myself reading well past my bedtime—something I promised myself I wouldn't do on a work night.

Amy appears to have it all: a loving husband Craig, an adorable five-year-old son named Asher, and a comfortable life. Sure, Craig's work schedule keeps him away most of the week, but plenty of families manage similar arrangements. That is, until Amy discovers a school photo form hidden in Craig's clothing—for a school Asher doesn't attend, featuring a boy who isn't her son but bears an uncanny resemblance to him.

Meanwhile, across town, mommy blogger Becca lives her best life in luxury, documenting her picture-perfect existence online. The truth readers quickly piece together is devastating: Craig is living a double life, maintaining two families simultaneously. With Amy, he plays the modest, hardworking husband. With Becca, he's the wealthy provider of an extravagant lifestyle.

What elevates this beyond a simple infidelity tale is Cyan Michaels' deft handling of dual storylines. As Amy unravels the shocking truth about Becca and Craig's deception, a darker thread emerges—mysterious disappearances and murders of wealthy socialites, all connected to Amy's own job. The realization hits like ice water: Amy isn't just a betrayed wife; she's an unwitting pawn in a dangerous game orchestrated by the very people she trusted.

"The Secrets Between Us" proves that sometimes the most terrifying secrets are hidden in plain sight, wrapped in the mundane details of everyday life. A solid psychological thriller that will keep you guessing until the final page.

There are books with unhinged characters, and then there are books where all hell breaks loose and turns out that no hinges were ever present at all. And, if you are looking for that level of unhinged, then this book is filled with characters who are just like that. Not a single hinge in sight. Me? I'm always here for that level of unhinged.

The story seems to be predictable. The twists seem to be ones you see coming from a mile away. But as you read, you realize that nothing is what it seems to be. And even the predictable twists somehow manage to take some hinge-less (that’s one step above unhinged, hinge-less is the next level of unhinged) twists and turns.

And the characters? Do you love the characters you love to hate? Yeah, those are here. All of them. Not the children, the children are just being children, and those are just a background thing. Also, nothing bad happens to any of the children.

Also, a fun little detail. As I was just now reading other reviews of this book, I noticed someone complaining about the language being sometimes British, but the book seems to be set in the USA, and that was “confusing”. Haha, no. What a weird thing to say. I’m fairly certain the author is just Canadian or thinking and writing in their Canadian way. Canadian English is this weird broken British English, and places in Canada are those weird faux American places (if you think that the USA is the only country with people who write books, that is, and that all English must be American only). I don’t know if I’m right, tho.

A gripping premise with some highs and a few missed opportunities

This book caught my attention right away with its intriguing setup. The central mystery had me eager to see how the protagonist would navigate such a tense situation and uncover the truth. There’s no doubt the author knows how to create suspense, and the story keeps you guessing.

That said, I did find myself wanting a bit more balance in the storytelling. The main character’s inner thoughts were often very detailed, to the point where they slowed the pace and pulled me out of the tension instead of adding to it. Certain observations, like mentions of small cosmetic details, felt out of place during moments that were supposed to be high stakes. Some of the dialogue and phrasing also didn’t quite fit the tone of the story.

While I understood the main character’s decisions, I wasn’t completely convinced by how everything wrapped up. Some elements of her backstory, particularly regarding her father, felt like they were introduced as though they would matter more but never really got the payoff I was expecting.

Overall, this is a fast and suspenseful read with a strong concept, but it left me wishing for sharper focus and a more fully realized conclusion. Still, if you enjoy domestic thrillers with secrets, lies, and plenty of tension, it’s worth picking up.

Wow was this book SO GOOD. I read this in one sitting because I could not get enough of this story. This is about a wife who has a very fulfilled life and marriage even though her husband is only home 3 days a week due to a mysterious and demanding job. This arrangement never bothered the wife because she is often working anyway. When she ends up with a free weekend from her son and her husband, she finds some disturbing stuff that makes her question her entire marriage.

This is from 3 POVs and I loved every single one of them. The chapters are short so it is easy to binge right through it. I absolutely loved the contrast between the two FMCs and seeing how different their brain processes things. You are thrown right into the drama and it had me questioning if I was paranoid in the beginning as well.

The only reason I am giving it 4 stars rather than 5 stars is that I feel like there was no huge twists or turns thats a little expected in a thriller. There are some reveals near the end but in my opinion, they were somewhat obvious. The lack of twists did not take away from the storyline or how invested I was in the book which is very rare for me with a thriller. It was genuinely such an intriguing story.

"The Secrets Between Us" by Cyan Michaels is a chilling and twisty psychological thriller that focuses on secrets and betrayal, inviting readers into an absolute madhouse—or, shall we say, two madhouses!

What I appreciated most about the author’s writing is how she makes you believe you know where the story is headed, only to take unexpected turns that leave you intrigued. When you think you have it figured out, the narrative shifts again, creating moments where you can only catch your breath. I loved that the author kept readers guessing until the very end. The fast pace, along with the build-up of tension and suspense, makes it highly addictive and challenging to put down until you reach a satisfying conclusion.

The story is told from the perspectives of three characters: Amy, Craig, and Becca. This approach provides a unique opportunity to see the situation from different angles and uncover the dark truths hidden beneath the surface.

We follow Amy Taylor, who believes she has the perfect suburban life with her husband, Craig. However, when Amy discovers a photograph suggesting Craig is hiding something, she becomes determined to investigate his actions over the weekend while he is supposedly away on business. As she digs deeper, more secrets emerge, and no one is prepared to deal with the aftermath.

Oh. My. Gosh!!! The Secrets Between Us by Cyan Michaels just sucked me in and refused to let me go until the very end. This was most definitely a what the heck did I just read book. The premise intrigued me, but never did I imagine where this would go. Edge of your seat drama left me breathless and wanting more. This dark and creepy saga actually sent chills down my spine. The narcissism and self-absorption of some of the characters was mind-boggling and left me shaking my head.

Amy finds out her "part-time" husband Craig is hiding a huge secret. Vowing to find out the truth, she is stunned to discover that the secret she uncovered is just the tip of a gigantic iceberg.

I loved the character of Amy. She was a definite no-nonsense type that didn't try to delude herself when presented with the facts. Becca and Craig, however, were the epitome of pure evil and self-importance. The chapters were twisty and action-packed and alternated between the three main characters' perspectives. I flew through the pages, needing to see how this was going to end. I wasn't disappointed, as it ended with a shocking twist. The writing is very fast-paced and easy to follow. I highly recommend this book if you love a tension filled, psychological drama.

As I never read the blurbs before I read a book, I'm very influenced by the front cover images.

This one really drew me in - probably because of the keys and the contrast in colours - but especially the tags which suggested a book full of secrets and lies....which I love!

This was, however, a book of two halves for me.

I loved the premise and really wanted to get behind the characters and race to find the answers and see how this all played out - but the writing often felt a bit clunky and this just stopped me becoming fully immersed in this.

What looked like the perfect marriage on the outside, flips on its head when Amy finds a photo in her husband's dry cleaning.

The picture of a child who looks eerily like her own son sparks a need to find out just who Amy is living with!

I think it was pretty obvious where this story was going but I was still keen to see the twists and turns along the way.

This was a quick and easy read and it felt fast-paced on the whole, but there were just a few instances where the atmosphere wasn't there to keep me on edge - rather than creating the vibe, the narrative over explained things instead.

I think that this could be a debut novel - which is brilliant and I'm excited to see how things develop in future books.

Amy is married to the man of her dreams, or so she thought.man. She thought she knew who her husband, Craig, was, but she is about to be in for the shock of her life when she finds out that he has a whole other life, wife and child. It all started with a strange photo she found in his jacket pocket, and it spiraled from there, and changed everything.
While Craig is gone on a 3 day 'business trip', Amy has to put together the puzzle of who her husband really is. And the truth turns out to be so much worse than she ever could have imagined.
His second family is the LEAST of her worries, when she finds out what him and his wife had planned together, and what he planned on his own.
Will she be able to stop them before the inevitable happens on Monday..?

Wow! This book was absolutely INCREDIBLE. one of the best thrillers I have read in a while. It was fast-paced, mind-bending, and kind of terrifying. It shows that you truly don't know anyone the way you think you do, and it begs the question- who REALLY am I surrounding myself with?!
This book had me gripped from the very beginning. It was full of twists and turns that I never would have anticipated.
Such a good read!
And that ending?! Whew, I was shocked when small, meek Amy found the courage to do what she felt was necessary to save her and her son Asher.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.

Wow...this book "The Secrets Between Us" had me hooked from page one right thru the end of the book. And then it went through my head, what did I just read? That could really happen in real life. Especially in the world of a psychological thriller. And I must say that Cyan Michaels has a very vivid imagination and I loved it. If you are looking for a fantastic psychological thriller, a real edge of your seat book then you have found it. Let us know what you think.

Amy and Craig Taylor are happily married. He is only around so many days a week because he travels so much for his tech expert job. But Craig is her dream man, a devoted father and a very reliable partner living in their dream suburban life. Their 5-year-old son, Asher is turning out to be so sweet and always makes me laugh. Amy has the perfect husband in Craig, her part time husband. Or does she?

Amy is doing the laundry one day and finds a photo in Craig's pocket. The picture looks just like Asher, but it is from a school that he does not attend. Does Craig have another child? Well Craig is away for business so I have 72 hours to figure out this mystery but what she finds is just the tip of a lot of secrets worse than she could have ever imagined.

The Secrets Between Us - Cyan Michaels

Craig, Amy, Becca and 2 sons called Asher.

As much as I really needed to finish this book to see what happened in the end, I also had problems with how realistic the storyline was. I mean the second wife (Amy) had no idea at all what was going on, she was told randomly that someone else had a part-time husband and she put two and two together? And it all fell into place for her. Then when the second wife approached the first wife ( Becca) the first wife was not surprised and blamed the husband (Craig) for being sloppy.

Both wives seemed very blasé and something was missing from their characters, there was just no oomph or realism to what they were feeling, it felt bland.

From nowhere mid-story, Amy plucks the idea out of nowhere that her nanny Penny was pregnant with her husband Craig’s baby. How or why would you just automatically assume that just because someone is not well? To me that didn’t make sense. 🤦‍♀️

Then Amy left Asher no.1, Becca & Craig’s son with no parents so her and her son, Asher no.2, Amy’s & Craig’s son could live happily ever after. . .
In the end Amy killed everyone that she knew and there were no repercussions?

It’s a little far fetched but I had to keep reading. lol

From the moment I started The Secrets Between Us, I knew I wasn’t putting it down. I love a domestic thriller with secrets and tension, but this one goes so much further than I expected. Every time I thought I understood what was going on, Cyan Michaels threw in another twist that made my stomach drop.
The pacing is spot on – no filler, no dragging – just a constant drip of dread and discovery. The 72 hour window adds this horrible ticking-clock feeling, and honestly, I could feel Amy’s panic creeping in. And the reveal about Mondays? I had to stop and blink because I was NOT ready.
What I loved most is how believable it all felt. The fear, the shock, the “how did I not see this?” realisation – it’s written in a way that hooks into your emotions rather than just throwing drama around. By the time the truth started to surface, I was fully invested and racing through the pages like my life depended on it.
This book is everything I want in a five-star thriller – tense, smart, dark, and twisty with zero predictability. Cyan Michaels is firmly on my auto-read list now, and I’d recommend this to anyone who loves that breathless, one-more-chapter-until-3am kind of read.
Still thinking about it. Still a bit shaken. Still five stars.
