Melinda Elliott has a passion and deep love for animals and is a firm believer in the value of pet rescue and adoption, which is one of the topics highlighted in Rebarkable Lilly. One of Melinda’s goals with the book is to pass along the knowledge that every pet is special and unique if you just take the time to unlock its talent, personality, and loving spirit.

Melinda and her husband, Kit, have been married for 21 years and make Plano, Texas, their home. She loves fitness, strength training, boating, entertaining friends, and spending time with Lilly and their newest addition to the family, five-year-old Madison, who is Lilly’s best friend and one of her Top Canine Recruits.

Rebarkable Lilly is about my best friend in the whole world, and she has brought amazing joy to my life over the past thirteen years. “Embarking” on this book adventure is a testament to the unlimited love and happiness a pet can bring to one’s home, family, and life. There are so many people in this world yearning for companionship and unconditional love, and there are just as many homeless animals that can fill a void in a person’s heart. This is the story of Lilly and how she came into our life and filled it with humor, trust, companionship, and human tendencies that have blown our minds. Lilly has entertained us and imprinted on our hearts the uniqueness every animal possesses if you are willing to take the time to unlock it. It is with a heavy heart that I dedicate this book to all of the homeless animals in the world, and I thank all of the amazing workers who give of their time so unselfishly to volunteer at their local pet shelters and take such wonderful care of God’s greatest creatures. Rebarkable Lilly is a heartwarming and hilarious rags-to-riches story of rescued pup, Lilly. When Melinda and her husband adopted young Lilly from the pound, they had no idea the new addition to their family would have a personality all her own. Lilly turns out to be quite the fashionista, and she loves showing off for the camera. Filled with pictures of Lilly modeling the finest items in her closet, Rebarkable Lilly is a fun story for everyone in the family. Lilly exudes the love and joy that pets bring to a family, and children and adults alike will be delighted by her journey from doghouse to penthouse.

Author Melinda Elliott has created a wonderfully lighthearted story while simultaneously sharing the importance of pet adoption. Any pet is special and unique if given the time to share its talent, like Lilly, which is why pet adoption and rescue is crucial. Hopefully Lilly's story will inspire more people to consider adopting or rescuing.

Rebarkable! I loved reading about Lilly's story and how she stole the hearts of Melinda and Kit. This is a quick read but a beautiful story. I got so immersed in the story that I expected it to go from talking about Lilly to Lilly telling me her story. I think we all could take some business lessons from Lilly - marketing, networking, taking risks and much more. The author takes some creative freedom with the dictionary but it all fits - rebarkable, dawgggling, paw-pularity, pawsitive, etc.

I loved this book and will pick it up again and again to be uplifted by its positive message.

You don't have to be a dog - or animal - lover to be touched by this story of "who rescued whom?" This romantic comedy and heartwarming proof of how unconditional love can change lives is a must-read and definite mood-booster. The pictures will make you laugh out loud and the story sometimes makes you forget Lilly is not human. Not since Benji has there been such a shining canine personality (and Lilly's fashionista flair would make Lady Gaga jealous!) Thank you for sharing this rebarkable "love story" with us and bringing attention to animal rescue. Its a FUN and family-friendly read.

This is by far one of the most inspirational books I have ever read. My kids love it because it reminds them that anything is possible if you put your mind to it,and great ideas are born out of the most common and simple things around you just from being creative and passionate about something you love. My first thought when I began reading it was" How cool would it be if schools had this in their libraries." This is definitely a book to have your collection...five star all the way!!
