Rate this book
Kit Campbell loves her quiet, simple life as the librarian in Creekstone, a small town nestled in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Kit happily left living in the city to return to small-town life, and she wouldn’t change one thing about Creekstone if she had her way.

William Philips is one work win away from landing the top job at his company. All he has to do is close a real estate deal in Creekstone, Georgia. He thinks this will be simple -- until he meets the landowner, Kit Campbell, who ices him out, believing that William’s company will change Creekstone, and not for the better.

Just when William begins to think all hope is lost, a Christmas miracle happens. Kit and William are forced to spend the holiday together and both are surprised when things start to heat up between them. But can Kit trust William’s intentions? Will the cozy holiday vibes bring them closer to a partnership neither of them were expecting? What will happen when the Christmas decorations come down and it's time to return to their real lives?

I couldn’t put Main Street Mistletoe down! Early on, we meet Kit, a small town librarian and landowner enamored by Creekstone’s yearly traditions, and William, a development expert inches from the biggest promotion of his life. As William takes the time to get to know Creekstone, we grapple with the tension of small town charm and urban modernization.

Mela Thomas bridges holiday charm and romance in the form of Christmas tree decorating contests, freshly baked cookies, fireside chats. I appreciated how the reader gets to delve into the inner workings of each character's private thoughts. I especially appreciated the instances that highlighted what it's like to navigate life and love as a multiracial person.

Main Street Mistletoe is a must for anyone who loves a holiday romance, especially those Hallmark Christmas movies. I can’t wait for Mela Thomas’ next book!

I found this book at a local bookstore when she author was doing a signing event so I went in a bit raw to the story. I thought it would be more Christmas vibes but the holiday parts were only for like 20ish% of the book (at most). I feel there was so much more that could have been with the holidays since the characters had so much beef but it seemed to go away so fast. It was an enjoyable read, but I was expecting a holiday romance. At some points it was a bit cringy even for someone like me who loves simple romance sometimes. She really tried with the character development and I think it the plot was different such as the late relationship drama it would have made more sense and had more time to develop. I’m still excited to see her future work since I know this was her first book!

This was a cute, contemporary Christmas novel. If you’re looking for cozy and a Hallmark-like vibe, this is for you!

I did enjoy this one quite a bit. It was a quick read for me too. Included in this adorable book was a small town librarian (Kit) who loves Christmas and everything about its traditions amongst the small town of Creekstone.

Then comes a development contractor who enters himself in Creekstone. He wants to modernize the small town, but no one is having it. Tension builds, understandably.

I loved all the cute Christmas touches that take me back to being young. This was a nostalgic book in ways.

*thank you Mela Thomas for the gifted copy!

Sugar, spice, and everything nice! This is such a cute debut novel. I really enjoyed reading about Kit and William. I liked the real estate plot and the community feel of all the characters. The descriptive writing made me feel immersed in the novel’s town of Creekstone, Georgia. It’s a fun read that I didn’t want to put down and would recommend to anyone looking for a light-hearted, cozy book. But it’s not just another Hallmark story - the spice is spicy! Doesn’t have to be exclusively read at the holidays either, as the story spans the course of an entire year. Looking forward to reading more from Mela Thomas!
