The military junta was kidnapping suspected dissidents who opposed the regime and brought them in for “questioning.” Maribel, a teaching assistant at the University, had been tabbed a subversive. She was abducted, held prisoner, and then questioned by a team in front of her father. When she resisted, her interrogators subjected her to "intensive interrogation" techniques.
