MEAGAN: He's a pressure valve set to explode. A little steam and I wound up scalded. What's gonna happen when he blows?
It's ok. I can handle this, cause I want to handle him.
But don't I deserve more? Don't I deserve a man who won't do a thing to hurt me?
He can't keep me in the dark forever. One day I'll want an answer.
I'm not sure how long I can wait.
VAUGHN: A rough word uttered in her defense and I'm out of her graces. Can't she see I'm trying? I'm twisting against my roots to stand in her light.
If that's not enough, then I don't know what else I can do.
Except for the one thing.
The one act that must be done sooner or later, if we are to have a future.
It'll cost me everything.
Is she worth it?
Clear features sizzling romance, steamy sexual situations and some racial language. Mature and open-minded audiences only. This book is the intense finale to the bestselling book, Black and White. It is not meant to be read as a standalone.
OK, I'll get rid of the negative first. All three installments of this series should have been one book. I'd say overall it clocks in at about 175 pages total. Fine for a shortie novel, but just kind of irritating that it got chopped up. I know, I know...we're forewarned, and I didn't take any points off because of it.
The author uses some very strange descriptions for movement. Especially when the hero and heroine are in close proximity. I mean, strange to the point where I'm tempted to say they are being misused. His face and body are always doing something odd on the way to her LOL. I can't drum up specific examples right now, but trust me-its noticeable and I'm not being nitpicky. I was able to look past it for the most part, but it does tend to take you out of the moment. I wondered actually if English is not her primarily language because of how some of the sentences are structured. All this goes into editing for me, so only one point off overall.
NOW, the good. I LOVED the premise of this book. A guy whose a white nationalist (barely discernible from white supremacists as far as I'm concerned) falls for a black woman. I. LOVE. THAT. I'm a fan of the new show Stalker and they had story arc involving this and I thought at the time what a great book it would be. Vaughn was likeable in his obvious confusion and the author does take pains to make it clear he's never hated anybody. His conflict is more of a family dynamic/upbringing and loyalty ties. I like the way he stayed true to that confusion even while navigating his way out of it.
The heroine Meagen (which was alternatively spelled Megan and Meagen lol)was fairly likeable in that she never had a typical response to things that could have been written as extremely so. I liked her patience with him, as well as her willingness to talk through some very difficult subject matter.
The love scenes were pretty much a miss for me, especially the first one. Still, the subject and dialog kept me interested and impressed me enough to give this ***. I wouldn't mind seeing more from this author as I think with some time, she'll come along just fine.
I read this trilogy in a 24 hour period. It was that great. Clear is a wonderful and very sweet conclusion to this captivating trilogy. Vaughn and Meagan's chemistry and sex scenes are off-the-charts sexy. Vaughn's public declaration of love for Meagan was simply beautiful. This story's whole arc was fascinating and beautiful.
SO I really enjoyed this series.. could it have been one or two books instead of three.. yes.. but I ate them up within 24hours so...
who cares about that complaint!? (its ok if you don't my feelings wont't be hurt)
What I LOVED... Vaughn.. I read books to fall in love with the male characters.. I am not going to lie to you about that... but he is.. he's just sexy.. I read his dialogue with an southern accent.. he calls Meagan Darlin!!
BABYI can't do but DARLIN.. YES PLEASE...
Anyways.. he is a white nationalist but since the beginning he never was in full support of it.. he was brought into it by family... and did it for their benefit.. he was just another body.. in the conclusion of the trilogy he finally did what he wanted... it was refreshing to read... and it was tastefully done.. no drama.. it went with the story.. and I appreciated that...
Meagan is a great female character.. Id wanna be her friend... shes smart and has a sense of humor... not once does she seem weak or taken advantage of.. she is a strong woman... and even in her past she didn't let what happened to her continue.. once was enough for her.. her love for Vaughn is so obvious... I can imagine her face lighting up when she sees him...
Did I want more.. yes.. did I need more.. no.. the story was about them and how something great can come from something others think is wrong..
Book 3: A white supremist biker and a black college student/waitress who meet and develop an extreme attraction to each other, despite the color of their skin and his racist club's beliefs. Each one has a story to tell about why they are who they are...and together they try to make a change...him with his attitude about all races that aren't his own and she, convincing herself (and her brother) that he is not a "monster". I liked the relationship these two had and although at times it was a bit predictable and preachy, it was different and had a good message. It was not so much an MC book as much as it was a book about race and the messed up mind set of these radical groups...and of course a love story between two people from opposite worlds. An abusive EX boyfriend, various meddling friends, some unforgiving "brothers" and a tragic loss of family all make up the rest of this book. Different and hopeful, although this type of story has been done before. Some editing and spelling errors that made me have to re-read to figure out who was talking, but otherwise a pretty good story.
**** 3.5 **** "black and white make a beautiful world" star
What do a racist and an African American female have in common? More than you think. As Vaughn struggles to find his own belief system after a family hell bent on hate, he's forced to decide which means more, family or happiness and the chance at love.
Meagan's tested. Can she handle her lovers past and believe they have a future? Ms. Notaro does an excellent job of exploring the ups and downs of emotion and love between two polar opposites.
Nice ending to the book...uh...serial. I liked that even though Vaughn's 'Come to Jesus' moment was public, it wasn't hokey and corny. Throughout the serial, Meagan had her questionable moments, but I couldn't dislike her. I LOVED the friendship that developed between the two most important men in her life. Enjoyed this read.
Loved the final installment, still a few typo's but nothing totally ridiculous. This series was worth reading. I just wish this book had went into a little more detail on how his club treated and dealt with him after the rally
I liked it, but it definitely was not pitch perfect. While reading it, I took note of some issues with lag and a few other issues. Also, I wish that the ending had been different..
Being a romantic to the bone, I love books that show how love between the most unlikely people can happen. Our hearts and what they want are colorblind. This series explores that and shows it in stages which makes it very realistic for me. Great book Paige!!!!
The final book in the series was just okay. I thought it would’ve been more in depth but I felt like it didn’t end right. I’m happy Vaughn made the right decision to leave his old life behind though. I wanted more transparency on how his life changed but overall the story was well written and touched briefly on the important points. This was the first series I’ve read from the author and it’s promising.
These short stories that SHOULD have been 1 book are annoying and manipulative tricks authors do. Why? I do not understand, if your work is good you should ot have to Shanghai your readers to buy another book from you. The quality alone will get me to come back. Also some grammar errors. What happened to the books where not one grammar mistake existed? Are there editors or beta readers sparse nowadays.
Soooo....wow! I think Ms. Notaro has stepped out onto the ledge and came out victorious. This was fantastic. You may lose who you think is your family, but those that love you will always be there. Meagan and Vaughn could have easily pulled away from each other, yet they stuck through it all.
Love this author. 😍😍😍😍 Ms Notaro is such a gifted writer and just this wonderfully written series proves that she is definitely a queen in her field.Thank you for sharing your gift with us readers. Highly recommended.
The book or confusing there are three or four different names to the books and they're all the same they read all the same so why have three different books that have the different titles all the words of the first books from fun
So here's the last one in this series and it was a nice satisfying wrap up for me. What Vaughn does in order to leave behind the life he was apart of was really sweet and I love how sure he is she's worth it! Even though he had that major slip up with her ex I do understand what Daryl meant when he explains it to her and even being Hispanic I understanding to an extent it wasn't race related but anger related, despite it hurting me. I also really appreciated how Vaughn chose to turn his life around , even volunteering with the kids and being straight with the kids and entering into the military. I was worried he wasn't gonna be able to function outside the MC club. Overall satisfied by this series.
A quadruplet series instead of a trilogy would be great!
4.25 stars. I read all three books of this series and thought the author's vision and writing of Vaughan's and Meagan's story was great. I found Meagan and Vaughan to be like able and memorable characters who dealt with a difficult situation well to include the miss steps along the way. The author created great chemistry between these two characters, maybe that's why I would like a part four to this series, that and to see if Meagan stays at her current college and to see if Vaughan goes to college to get a degree in history and to see if he is able to reconnect and influence his brother, Calix, to renounce his racist views- call it "Transparent".
This was a fitting end to a terrific series. This story ended the way you sometimes wish other stories would.I love the the fact that the two main characters come to the conclusion that we have to take this step together but separately. The writer has command of this story, and doesn't lose control.I like that we get to imagine some of the dark things that could've happened in the kind of coming of age or into your own.I loved the sex scenes they were smoking hot you knew that there was fire.Very good story. My first time reading this author and will not be the last.
I enjoyed this book I wished it was longer and that Vaughn's family would've turned around and excepted his new life with Megan; but all in all the whole series was very good. Uncaged is the next p.notaro book I will be reading. #lovepnotaro
Overall ok read.....the synopsis made me curious. Interesting storyline and I was curious to how it would end giving his beliefs. Character development was decent for a serial, but more background info on the characters would have helped
I absolutely loved the 3 books in this series, regardless of the typo and grammar errors. I thought the story was very good, I wish it had been longer especially the last book but nevertheless I really enjoyed it. Worth reading
Overall, this was a good series. It has the potential for five stars but there are too many grammatical errors (missing words, names of characters changing, typos, etc).
Page natural shame on you. You need money that bad that you would write a three book series and the last two books are a total repeat of the first book if there was a way I could get my money back I would but looks like you need it more than me.
Vaughn and Meagan were great together. I loved how his feelings and his character evolved. The story made you love him even though you knew who he had been all his life.
