Overcome by the Orc Part I: A Short MM Fantasy
Efir is a soldier with an unconventional background, a nobleman who chose to go fight for the Crown despite the financial privilege to opt out. A patriotic idealist, he finds his earnestness immediately crushed by the disdain of the other soldiers, rejected by everyone from the latrine diggers to the top brass.
His detractors are delighted when an incident rocks the company and the finger of blame is pointed squarely — and unfairly — at Efir. As punishment, he is stripped of his rank and cursed by the army wizard.
The curse manifests as rapid weight gain, leaving him bewildered and confused in a body that doesn’t feel like his own. More isolated than ever, despair threatens to overwhelm him.
A curious event breaks through his pitiful an encounter with one of the enormous, intimidating, awe-inspiring orcs who trade occasionally with the army. Efir catches the eye of one of these remarkable creatures, who has an entirely different reaction to the man’s evolving shape…
