Trevor and Lottie’s love story is built on a beautiful friendship, and the history between these two makes it so sweet. I loved Trevor’s family and the part they played in getting these two together. I also loved seeing Freedom, Colorado again!
Liwen Y. Ho writes the sweetest romances for older characters! In this case, it's a pair of 70-years-young entrepreneurs in the town of Redemption Ridge who have practically known each other for most of their lives since high school. I love that there are cameo appearances from earlier Christmas in Redemption Ridge stories, along with other fun surprises. More importantly, I appreciate the message about relinquishing our plans to Jesus, no matter our age. It's refreshing to know that we can keep growing in our walk, even later in life. Lottie and Trevor are endearing characters who show us what found family and endurance look like while pointing to God's faithfulness at every turn.
It's a little bittersweet with this being Liwen's last book with this series as she infuses so much heart into this town and its people. There is a tenderness present that is characteristic of her writing that brings comfort to readers when encountering her lovely romances. If you're looking for the ultimate slow-burn saga filled with sacrificial love, it's hard to top this septuagenarian story, complete with wishes and prayers being answered at Christmastime.

Synopsis: Lottie and Trevor had been best friends’ ever since high school. Lottie had love him the first time she sees him and had never stops loving him until now. Years have past and now they are 70 years old. Trevor’s wife passed away many years ago and she helped him with raising his two daughters. Things change when Lottie wants to move to New York and also want to travel around the world and it made Trevor realised his feelings for her. Will he be able to let her know? Will they ever be together? Read Fulfilling Her Christmas Wish to find out!! Review: This is the 2nd book of the Christmas in Redemption Ridge Series Season 3. These two are just so adorable together. Trevor slowly realised his feelings towards Lottie not only when he finds out about her plans but also there is also someone interested in her. So, for Lottie he did everything he can even to go out of his comfort zone to be with her. Lottie had been so sweet for him and had loved him for many years but she hidden it from him. Really salute Lottie but of course without God she couldn’t go through this. Imagine loving someone for so long and it is unrequited love and to care for him and his children for years ever since his wife died is not and easy thing to do but she loved them so much and willing to sacrifice for her best friend who is struggling.
Even his family is praying for them to be together because everyone can see that they love each other and even encouraged one to be not afraid to confess to each other. They also lean on God for everything they are going through and also praying for each other. This book made me smile, laugh, swoon and also can’t help but love this adorable elderly couple.
P. S. Lottie always addressed her name as a third person.
I was gifted complimentary ARC. All opinions are my own Thanks to @author.liwenho for the ARC.
Can’t wait to read the stories from this series. It’s a collaboration of a few amazing authors. You can purchase Liwen Y.Ho books from Amazon and it’s available in KU .
This was the first “senior-romance” (is this a thing??) that I have read and to be completely honest, I had my doubts since I am a huge fan of YA romance and first love stories (so kind of the opposite of later in life, second chance and love after loss), but I have enjoyed every book I have read by Liwen Y. Ho so far, so I really wanted to give this a try!
And what a cute story it was! The love story between Trevor and Lottie is built on a long and very strong friendship and I love how she was already part of his family and completely accepted. A perfect example of how found family can look like.
As always Liwen Y. Ho weaves faith messages beautifully into her stories. Trevor and Lottie both learn to trust God (more), to lean on Him and that his plans might look different from what we envisioned for our future, no matter what stage in life we are in.
I thought these two were really sweet and kind of funny together and I enjoyed the tender moments between them and especially how Trevor - a bit clumsily - tried to be romantic and show his feelings and definitely how he cared for her when she needed him.
There are two things I didn’t enjoy that much. First - Lottie was in love with Trevor before he even met her friend and his late wife and even though she loved her friend and never tried to come between her and Trevor while she was alive, the fact that she was actually in love with Trevor and secretly sort of pining for him their whole marriage made this not only quite sad for Lottie but left kind of a bad taste. I probably would have preferred if Lottie also only developed feelings after her friend’s death. Second - this might be petty, but Lottie talking about herself in the third person annoyed me to no end. I had a fellow student who did this and while it was sometimes funny I really hope he eventually got rid of this silly habit. I’m pretty sure I couldn’t stand a whole conversation with a grown woman (I mean she’s 70, not 17…) who refers to herself in the third person. But this is my “problem”, most reviewers were obviously not bothered by this “quirky mannerism”.
Another sweet and lighthearted, yet meaningful romance by Liwen Y. Ho. I have not read one of her books I wouldn’t recommend!
* Thank you to the author for letting me read an advanced copy of this book. I leave this review voluntarily and the expressed opinions are my own.
For those who believe that love is possible at any age. ~Liwen Ho author
Okay, this story has SO much going for it: 1. It’s love found after the loss of a spouse 2. It’s a friends-to-more (though formed over the span of MANY years) 3. It’s later in life love (both Lottie and Trevor are in their 70’s)
Those reasons alone sparked my interest in the story. Unusual circumstances or unique characters always make me want to read the book, and this delivered a thousand-fold! Anything, and I do mean anything, written by the pen of Liwen Ho is an automatic must-read….I don’t care what troupe or genre it is. I know it’s going to be enjoyable, entertaining, full of characters to care about & a natural faith thread throughout.
I think the reason why my favorite troupe in a book is friends-to-more is because my husband and I were the same. We created a strong (mostly long-distance) friendship that formed a steadfast foundation for a love discovered. So, I can understand Lottie’s need to not ruin her friendship with Trevor by confessing she’s loved him for years. He was absolutely clueless! Until she decided she was done waiting to travel the world, then he realized how much of his life was wrapped around Lottie & how much she would be missed once she was gone. It made him realize that over many years, his heart had turned to love after all! But convincing her would be the challenge—one he’s willing to accept!
Everything about this story was good and I enjoyed seeing Trevor & Lottie discover their feelings for one another deepened with a life-long friendship. Sweetly satisfying all around, and I just think these two were so cute together! If you like sweet love stories full of heart, laughter, characters that are like friends, faith and that happily-ever-after you’re looking for, then I highly recommend this book to you!
*I received a complimentary copy from the author and was not obligated to leave a favorable review. All opinions are mine alone. *
If you've been following Liwen's books in the Redemption Ridge series, you know that Lottie and Trevor's story has been a long time coming (but don't worry, it's not necessary to have read the previous ones to enjoy this one!) If you're on the fence about reading a story with seventy-year-olds as MCs, just give it a chance! This author has made me try different micro tropes that, at the least, I enjoyed, if not ended up loving. And besides, this mainly features best friends to more (with him being a grump and a widower who definitely gets jealous, and her being an extrovert), so you know you're in for a treat!
If you've read the previous books, you know that Lottie has a quirk about referring to herself in the third person. I honestly thought it'd bother me throughout the book, but I think the author did a great job balancing it out. The romance was especially sweet, and that first kiss was definitely worth the wait. 😉 I loved the themes of friendship, family, and trusting our lives and futures in God's hands. While this felt like the end of an era and like the series is coming to a close, if it is, it delivered a perfectly satisfying ending not only for Lottie and Trevor, but also for previous characters, and fun updates on their lives (my favorite being Jesse's). If you're looking for your next Christian Contemporary Romance book or series, this one's definitely recommended! ~ 4.75 rounded up to 5 stars
I truly enjoyed reading this story because it was a friends-to-lovers romance, and the couple was in their seventies. It was fun to read a story where the characters were my age. The tension and struggles of having feelings for her best friend took a toll on Lottie, and she decided fifty years was long enough. She just wanted to be okay without Trevor always being around. Unfortunately, Trevor didn’t even realize what she felt. It took a bold move on her part before he started to see what was right in front of his face. I truly enjoyed how author Liwen Y. Ho presented this story. She had a tender way of sharing age issues in a relationship. It was a story rich in the emotions of the characters and relatable to the reader. Liwen Y. Ho has become one of my favorite “go-to” authors. Her stories are packed full of sweet lessons from God and how He loves us. They also have beautiful examples woven throughout on how to cherish relationships. Her writing is smooth, and the story flows with wonderful characters and dialogue. I had a problem not wanting to put this book down. If you like tender stories of love, friendships, and overcoming many issues, then this is a book you will want to read. I highly recommend you pick it up! I was given this book by the author, which did not influence my review in any way; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Do not pass this later in life romance story by thinking it will not be interesting. It is completely charming and so much fun to read.
Lottie has hidden her feelings for her best friend, Trevor, for decades. Now that she has had a health crisis, it has caused her to reevaluate her priorities in life. She wants to travel and see the world.
Trevor and Lottie have actually been best friends since high school. When he learns that Lottie may be leaving town, he is blown away, and realizes that he is more than a little sad. He has not meant to take Lottie's friendship or her always being there for granted, but when feelings that he did not realize he had (or wouldn't admit it) come bubbling to the surface, he is surprised. The old saying that "you don't know what you got until it's gone" definitely plays into this story.
This was a heartwarming romance. This author always does a great job of working a faith element into the story as well. She handles this with finesse, while also not watering down the importance of faith.
This book will not only lift your spirits, but it may even put you in the Christmas spirit.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Lottie has loved Trevor almost all her life, but even when they grew closer after he lost his wife and needed help with his daughters, he's only ever considered her a friend. A health scare makes Lottie realise how much she's put on hold waiting for him to notice her as more than a friend, so she makes plans to travel. The thought of Lottie leaving makes Trevor realise how much he relies on her and starts him thinking about their relationship - but has he left things too late for anything more between them?
An enjoyable read of two people who find love (or at least develop a more-than-friends relationship, since Lottie already loved Trevor) later in life. It does make for a somewhat different dynamic, which is interesting as a change - though being reminded of the sorts of health problems one can expect to face as one ages is mildly daunting! :-) I did find Lottie's attitude at one point quite illogical, but I guess that's human. I loved watching them together, and years of close friendship has to be a good basis for marriage. All in all, a good read, and it's nice to see more of various familiar characters.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I loved Trevor and Lottie's story!! Especially since they're older!! Trevor and Lottie have known each other for years, and have been best friends. Lottie was also best friends with June, Trevor's deceased wife. Lottie decides that she's waited long enough for Trevor to see her as something more than just a friend, so she decides to start traveling to see places she's always wanted to see. Lottie's used to doing things on her own; after all, she was an only child, she's been single all of her life, so why should she change since she's facing her 70th birthday? When Trevor finds out about Lottie's plans, he wonders why she didn't tell him, since he's her best friend. Then he realizes how much he's taken Lottie for granted, and further realizes that he loves her and doesn't want to lose her. The problem is, Lottie's through with wishful thinking, and when Trevor finally admits his love for her, Lottie doesn't believe him. Now, Trevor needs to find the words to convince Lottie he means what he said.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
This is the first book in the Christmas in Redemption Ridge series that I have read, and it won’t be the last! I loved this Christian fiction book and highly recommend it! It’s unique that Lottie always refers to herself in the third person. Lottie Lawson is sixty-nine years old and runs a nail salon named Polished Perfection. She has lived in her hometown of Redemption Ridge all her life. Lottie has grown used to being on her own and has relied on only the Lord because he never let her down. Trevor Kelly owns the restaurant Flapjacks in Redemption Ridge. He was the high school quarterback that Lottie crushed on, but he married her best friend, June, so she couldn’t have him. June has since passed away, but she and Trevor have never been more than friends. For this reason, Lottie is considering leaving Redemption Ridge to travel and protect her heart. With Lottie’s seventieth birthday coming up, Trevor finally realizes he loves Lottie with all his heart and must make a grand gesture. However, will their relationship ever be the same once Trevor admits he needs Lottie in his life? You must read this sweet, light-hearted, funny and romantic story to find out! I received a review copy of this book from the author for my own voluntary opinion.
This was a sweet and easy read! I was excited to see that Lottie and Trevor were going to get their own book. Fulfilling Her Christmas Wish is written by Liwen Y Ho and it is the 14th book in the multi author series, Christmas in Redemption Ridge. This was a fun second chance later in life romance. Lottie and Trevor had been friends for years but now they had a chance for something more. It was sweet to read about Trevor finally seeing Lottie. Lottie had been in love with Trevor for a while but nothing ever seemed to happen. I liked getting to see a different side of Trevor and Lottie. Their relationship was so sweet and I enjoyed reading about it growing up. They had to overcome some obstacles as they figured out what they truly wanted in life. Lottie does speak in third person at times which takes some time to get used but it just made her quirky. This was an enjoyable book and I would recommend it to those who enjoy sweet contemporary reads. It is a low-stress story. Fulfilling Her Christmas Wish is a clean inspirational romance.
Is a sweet small town, second chance Christian romance with no cliffhanger. Some of the lines I really like --- “I’ve never heard of a shop that offers new starts. That’s something the Lord does for us.” --- “Think about the things in your life that don’t change, hold onto them, and be grateful for them. The most important one being Jesus, of course. He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever. --- “You’re not the one being left behind like a pair of used socks.” --- “You may not be stinky, but your attitude sure is!” --- "learned to give it up to God and let Him deal with it. That’s the best thing I can do. Only He can change my heart.” --- --- "I went through a lot of refining—being forced to accept things you can’t change does a number on your soul—but I also grew closer to the Lord." --- What's Bella up to? Why does Lottie want to travel? These and other questions will all be answered. I loved Lottie and Trevor's story and I'm sure you will too. I've loved everyone of her books that I've read and I can't wait to read her next book.
What a sweet love story given to us readers by Liwen Y. Ho. This was not your usual love story even for a Later-in Life romance trope. To me this book was filled with one of God’s promises, that things happen in His perfect timing. Quite a few songs mention that, “God is never early, never late” which means it happens when it is the right time to happen. When I added this completed book to my list of Christmas in Redemption Ridge for Liwen Y. Ho, I noticed comments I had written about her other books. Facts like the “toilet paper was soft and silky” the H manufactured toilet paper. Another comment was, “Chinese mothers wanted their adult children to marry to have grandchildren”, reminded me of the humour and antics involved along the way. Both these books were in, The Fab Forties series. Read this book, other books in this multi-author series, more books by Liwen Y. Ho, I hope you will come away feeling refreshed and encouraged in the Lord.
Lottie has been in love with Trevor since they were in high school. She is now 70 years old. She's never married because no one ever measured up to Trevor. He married her best friend and has 2 beautiful daughters. June passed away years ago and Lottie became like a second mother to his girls, but he only ever saw her as a friend. Lottie has decided that she is going to sell her business and travel. Not really to escape from Trevor, but to find life on her own. She's always lived for others. When Trevor realizes that she plans to leave town, he's shocked at the fact that he's become so used to her being in his life daily. He runs into Lottie in the hospital as she is having an out patient eye surgery. He is upset that she didn't ask him to take her to the hospital and pick her up. He realized that he hadn't been that type of friend for her. She had always been there for him, but he never thought about doing anything for her. When he realizes that, he also realizes that he has loved her for a long time. He seeks to woo her. One irritant for me in the book is that she always referred to herself in the 3rd person. "Lottie didn't call you to pick me up because she knows how busy you are." or "Lottie is going to the store". That really drove me crazy, but other than that, it was an exceptionally good book.
This Dual POV story was fun to read. Trevor Kelly and Lottie Lawson have been best friends since they were small children. Now, as Lottie is approaching her 70th birthday, she decides she needs to travel and see the world. Her best friend, Trevor, decides he should go with her to protect her, even though he would rather stay home and work in his cafe.
The reason Lottie decided to travel is to get away from Trevor and her unrequited love for him. Will Lottie leaving town wake up Trevor to his true feelings for Lottie? Is 70 too old to fall in love?
This clean, faith-based, contemporary rom-com is fun to read. The characters are interesting. I especially like that both Lottie and Trevor are 70 years old. I enjoyed reading about Trevor catching on to Lottie's feelings for him. I definitely recommend Fulfilling Her Christmas Wish.
I was given an ARC of this story but all thoughts and comments are mine, given voluntarily.
Love Is Ageless Lottie and Trevor have been friends for decades—bound by shared history, quiet loyalty, and the memory of Trevor’s late wife, who also happened to be Lottie’s closest friend. What Trevor never knew is that Lottie had loved him all along. But facing a medical scare shakes loose something she’s been holding back: her life is still hers to live, and she’s finally ready to chase the travel dreams she kept putting off. When Trevor learns she’s leaving town, it hits him harder than he expects. Suddenly he’s looking at Lottie with new clarity, wondering if the comfort she’s always brought was really something deeper. And maybe—just maybe—he isn’t betraying his late wife by letting his heart open again. Trevor and Lottie are in their seventies, but this story leans beautifully into the truth that love doesn’t check IDs. It shows up when it wants to, in whatever season of life it pleases. I enjoyed this later-in-life romance and would recommend it.
This is a clean, later in life romance. It is part of a series but can be read as a stand-alone.
Trevor is a widower that owns a restaurant. Lottie is one of his best friends and has had a crush on him since she met him. However, her friend ended up marrying him and then passed away from cancer. Trevor has raised his daughters and they work with him at the restaurant. Lottie has decided that since Trevor won’t look at her romantically, for her 70th birthday, she is going to sell her business and start traveling. Will Trevor come to his senses? Can he fall in love with Lottie? She’s always been there for him. What happens when she is not?
This was a cute later in life romance. I enjoyed it which made me go back and read the whole series about Redemption Ridge.
I received an ARC from the author and am leaving an honest review.
I loved this book! I’m a senior citizen (68) and reading about others falling in love at that age was fun. Lottie is about to turn 70 and is ready to move on from running her nail salon and see some of the world outside of Redemption Ridge. She has been in love with Trevor for years, but he just sees her as his best friend. She feels like she has wasted her life waiting for him. She packs her bags for “The Big Apple” and someone lets Trevor know she will be traveling. Trevor feels that she is leaving him “alone” even though he has his restaurant and his daughters. After they both have a couple of medical issues to take care of before Lottie can travel, Trevor starts to realize that his feelings may run deeper than friendship. I really enjoyed reading about how they come together. I love Liwen Y. Ho’s writing!
Having read a majority of the previous books in this series, it felt like finding old friends in this story. However, there were new things to learn about the characters and their relationship. I think I would have enjoyed it just as much if this was the first book I had read from the series. Liwen Ho has a way of keeping the dialogue sharp that seems natural but has one laughing out loud and suggests that relationships can be tricky to navigate not matter the age.
The other thing I liked about the book is the emphasis on needing God in our relationships no matter the age and maturity. There is always something new to learn. Maturity also does not mean that life needs to be dull or staid.
I was given a copy of this book, but the opinions in this review are solely mine and are given voluntarily.
Fulfilling Her Christmas Wish is a Christian, very later in life, heartwarming, friends to more, small town romance. I know I will enjoy anything Ms. Ho writes, but it was a joy to read about a couple where she is nearing 70 and he is already there! There is so much to love in this well written romance. Lottie and Trevor are two workaholics who have been friends forever. He has been widowed for decades and she has nursed a crush on him for all the time she has known him. Deciding to start living her life, Lottie lets Trevor and his girls know she is planning to travel; possibly even selling her nail salon. Trevor cannot imagine his life without Lottie in town. He suddenly realizes that she is more than just a friend. You will have to read this amazing book to see how Trevor is able to woo Lottie and what happens with her travel plans. I could not put it down!
This is a easy, quick, clean and Christian Romance. It is also a very touching and sweet story of a woman who has loved a man since high school but it was unrequited. Now in their 70's, Lottie has decided to travel and let go of her hope at ever being truly seen and loved by her best friend of 60 years Trevor. Trevor had fallen in love and married their mutual best friend June right out of high school unaware that Lottie had loved him the whole time but she never said or showed any signs of being anything other than his best friend. Now that he's been a widow for many years (their kids were very young when June died), having his one constant Lottie leaving town has caused him to question his true feelings. Will he be able to figure it out in time or will he miss his second chance at love? Such a beautiful story, had me tearing up at some points.🥹❤️
I am part of an ARC team. First thing that I will give a negative review on is I don’t like the fact that Lottie always refers to herself in the third person. It drives me crazy. It is a good book. Lottie and Trevor have been friends for years. Lottie introduced June to Trevor. June and Trevor got married, even though Lottie has had a crush on Trevor most of her life. June has passed away. Trevor runs a restaurant by the name of Flatjack’s. His kids are wanting him to retire and sign the restaurant over to them. Trevor is not ready to retire, even if he is 70 years old. It has been a very enjoyable easy read book I do recommend the book even though Lottie drives me crazy talking about herself in the third person.
I enjoyed this grumpy/sunshine, sweet romance. It is a later in life couple, I love the thought that this would be possible. Lottie has been in love with Trevor for a long time, but instead they became best friends. Lottie likes talking in 3rd person, which was ok, but at first it made me really confused. Because of the tension and struggles Lottie has hiding her feelings and how she feels unappreciated she decides she needs to leave town and do a lot of traveling. What will Trevor do? I loved the relationship between Lottie and Trevor and the kids and grandkids. This is a wonderful, beautiful story of love, friendship and faith. A wonderful addition to the Redemption Ridge series and a book I recommend!
It Is so refreshing to read a romance novel about more mature characters. Lottie and Trevor have known each other since high school but have never been on the same page regarding their feelings toward each other. Now that Lottie is talking about retiring and embarking on the travels she's dreamed of, Trevor realizes what an important part of his life she has become. Will they be able to move beyond the friend stage? I appreciated this clean, faith-filled story that is part of the Christmas in Redemption Ridge series. I didn't find it necessary to have read the previous books, but will probable check them out as well. The only thing that bothered me was Lottie's habit of referring to herself in the third person.
We first met them in "Remembering the Cowboy" Bella and Mav's story. Now follow Bella's dad, Trevor, and his best friend Lottie, in this sweet, faith filled, friends to more, golden years love story. Trevor and Lottie have been best friends since high school and while Trevor married shortly after graduation Lottie has remained single this whole time quietly, but steadfastly loving her best friends and their family. A few years later, Lottie's other best friend June passed away and widower, Trevor raises their two young daughter with Lottie's help. It's not until decades later that Lottie learns her unrequited love for Trevor may not be unrequited after all. It's all in God's timing.
Fulfilling Her Christmas Wish is a delightful, later-in-life love story. Lottie has loved Trevor since high school, but she stepped to the side, remaining just friends, when he met and then married June. Even after June's death, they remained just friends. With her 70th birthday coming up, Lottie decides it is time to move on and travel the world. Suddenly Trevor realizes how much he has taken Lottie for granted. But they are both stubborn people who have to learn a new way to be together. I loved watching them find that way. I also enjoyed that while they had age-related health issues, that wasn't the main focus of the story.
Oh wow, if you’ve been reading the Christmas in Redemption Ranch series, you are going to love this book. Remember Bella and Mav? Well this story is about Bella’s Dad, Trevor. Such a heart warming story about two people in their 70’s finding love in each other. Despite the challenges, Lottie is a great source of inspiration for trusting Jesus through it all. Trevor is fun to watch as he goes from grumpy to graciously grumpy. It was fun to have all sorts of cameos from both Redemption Ranch people and a few from the Hero’s of Freedom Ridge series as well.
Trevor and Lottie are great together. They did wait a long time for the future together but it was all in God’s right time. They both have their quirks, but then who doesn’t? Love makes one young again, and they have a great new start on forever.
I liked Trevor and Lottie; their family dynamics were really sweet. I have enjoyed each book in this series that I have read. They are all Christian, clean, and wholesome. I recommend them highly.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and these are my voluntary and honest opinions. I was not required to leave a positive review.
Lottie is a single 69-year-old who has been in love with her good friend since high school, but he was in love with her best friend. Treaver has been widowed for several years now and realizes that he may have feelings for Lottie beyond friendship.
This is a beautiful celebration of mature love, family, and God’s love and grace. This story has well-written characters and an enjoyable story line. I especially appreciate the Christian aspects of the book such as God’s timing and seeing God’s hand moving.
I received a copy of this book from the author. My review is entirely voluntary and unbiased.
