She was meant to be a sacrifice. Untouched. Terrified. Temporary.
Instead… she bit me.
Now her scent stains my lair. Her voice haunts my sleep. And when she defied me before the fire, the mountain itself leaned in to listen.
I was born to raze cities. To gorge on screams. To leave nothing but ash behind.
But when I touched her, the flame curled inward.
She doesn't flinch when I shift. She doesn't bow when I roar. She sings.
And gods help me—I want to keep her. Not in chains. Not even in gold. But in ways no dragon should want anything.
She’s not ready for what that means. But I’m done pretending she isn’t mine.
I’ll give her my flame. My hoard. My name.
And I’ll burn the world to keep her breathing.
Read on for dragon heat, sacrificial defiance, battlefield obsession, and a possessive immortal who worships the fire he can't put out. HEA Guaranteed!
“Well, well,” he murmurs, and it’s worse like this— hearing his voice in a man’s mouth. Still deep. Still velvet over stone. But smoother. Like something dangerous pretending to be gentle. “Tell me, Aeris.” My name purrs from his lips like a lover’s secret. “What else can you do besides sing?” “I can survive,” I say, voice flat as stone. “That’s what I do.” His smile widens. Sharp. Too many teeth, even now. “A useful skill.” “For some of us, it’s the only one that matters.”
I loved this book. I was excited for a dragon x sacrifice romance. Great world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Aeris and Aggranox. Their first meeting was exciting and I loved the dynamic of that moment. The air of power not just from him, but from her in her calm strength and defiance even in fear. Sad that none of her people spoke up or tried to save her- not even family. I was completely fascinated by these two together alone, feeling each other out in a way and how Aggranox grows more and more enthralled by her. I was completely hooked to their story! My favorite by this duo so far. 5 stars
This story that's about Aggranox a dragon who makes a deal to raid an elf's fortress with a wizen human male, Rizzo. His price offer is a pure maiden. Aggranox destroys the fortress and the elves defending it. Rizzo tells the villagers, they're free, but one defiant lady approaches and tells how he butchered the village and that the elves had families with them. Rizzo chooses her as the sacrifice. What ensues as Aeris is given to the dragon is an engaging story I'd devoured. The characters were likable and engaging as Aggranox can change into a human-like form as he courts Aeris in this enjoyable copy I'd received and volunteer to read and review.
I picked this book ultimately because of the gorgeous cover and because i love dragon shifter romances. But this beautifully written story was so poetic. I love how descriptive every line in this story was. I felt every bit of emotion and couldn't help but fall more in love with this dragon and his human.
Everyone who loves romance dreams of a romance such as this one. Celeste and S.R. Meadows told such a unhurried love story that just sinks down into your bones and you know you'll carry this story and the characters with you for a long time.
Love the cover! The moment I saw there was a dragon, I was in. I simply love dragon shifter stories, and when that dragon learns love? Can't think if anything better.
