Grumpy Firefighter's Ghostly Secret: A Dark and Romantic Halloween Tale

Rate this book
Some secrets refuse to stay buried… especially on Halloween night.

When Ivy Holloway returns to her small-town roots, the last place she expects to live is inside her family’s crumbling estate—rumored to be haunted. But the real ghost she can’t escape is Caleb Stone, the grumpy firefighter who saved her life years ago.

Caleb has fought plenty of fires, but nothing burns hotter—or more dangerous—than his feelings for Ivy. He swore to keep his distance, but when shadows stir in Holloway House and old secrets rise from the ashes, staying away becomes impossible.

As Halloween night falls, desire and danger collide. Will Ivy and Caleb uncover the truth before the past consumes them both—or will their hearts become the next sacrifice to the Holloway curse?

Dark, spooky, and irresistibly romantic, Grumpy Firefighter’s Ghostly Secret is the perfect Halloween enemies-to-lovers romance.

This book has a good idea for a story but unfortunately it does not deliver very well at all. The MC's Ivy and Caleb are pretty much nothing characters and I did not buy their connection with each other. Ivy was kind of annoying with how she just wouldn't listen to anyone else and the two had pretty much the same exact argument with each other with almost the exact same dialogue in nearly every chapter minus the last few. It felt very repetitive and dragged on for such a short book. The title and the synopsis are both misleading - it implies that Ivy at one point lived in the haunted house but she never did. The story would have probably been a bit more interesting if that was the case. There really is no secrecy in the story either between the two characters. I liked the idea of a paranormal podcaster being forced to face her past but it just did not work here as it wasn't fleshed out nearly enough. The best parts of the book were the paranormal activity happening in the house but it never really leads anywhere and we end up with more questions than answers.

I found myself skimming through a lot of this book. It was not a good fit for me. There seemed to be a lot of repetitive dialogue and arguments between the two main characters. The title and synapsis were both misleading. I thought there would be a secret from the firefighter only there wasn't. It also seemed like the FMC used to live in the house but she never did. I never figured out how the fire was her fault. If it started in the bathroom with the candle, why did the rest of the apt. go up in flames faster than the bathroom, where she did not even get burned but her Mom died in another room?

A perfect spooky mystery for Halloween.

Ivy is home living in her families home that is haunted, but one live ghost that is haunting her is Caleb the sexy grumpy fireman who saved her from a fire.

The heat between this scorching, through in danger, these two have to fight both the curse and their feelings for each other.

Mystery, secrets and romance .

Haunted Moments

I was a bit conflicted with this story as i felt some detail was missing in the haunted aspect of the plot. However, I did enjoy the interactions between Ivy and Caleb. While i did want more than what was written, I found it delightful to read anyway.
