In 1976, Blue Öyster Cult released their hit song "(Don't Fear) The Reaper."
They were wrong!

In 2009, the beloved Halloween haunted house attraction known as Reaper House became the location of a grisly murder scene when Isabelle Unger, the proprietor of the property, trapped and killed thirteen individuals within the eerie mansion's walls before taking her own life.
After the unsettling events of that night, the city condemned the property, hoping to forget the gruesome murders and leave the horrifying incident behind it.

FANTASTIC STORY!!!! Jeff is one of my absolute favorite authors... I knew this one would be amazing because let's be honest here ALL his books are and he seriously rocked the Haunted House story. The suspense and tension was so high. The characters are just so well developed with personality and a genuine like for each of the 8.. The House gives all the right vibes with a haunting background that just pulls you in right from the start. Highly suggest this thriller for the spooky season ahead.

“Reaper House” by Jeff VanOudenhove is a chilling haunted-house thriller full of tension, secrets, and unexpected twists. The eerie setting and escalating suspense kept me hooked. If you enjoy horror stories with an isolated location and suspenseful reveals this story will exceed expectations. It’s especially fitting for an October read or for fans of ghost stories and slasher atmospheres.

The Reaper House by Jeff VanOudenhove! One of the most chilling horrifying reads I’ve encountered.

Each character draws you in as the visitors enter the Reaper House. For years a main attraction that a couple ran together for Halloween night.

When the owner Isabelle Unger maliciously traps and murders thirteen people brutally, then kills herself, only silence buries the secrets and gruesome deaths.

The Reaper House lies dormant, condemned, as the rumors travel far and wide.

When eight visitors enter, the energy comes alive, as the past resurfaces.

The scenes are unforgettable, as the plot weaves through the Present bringing back the horrific past. The blood stains are soaked in the floors, as the screams still fill the nights from years ago.

So many rooms holding the terror still. Danger lurks in every corner as the whispers of bodies curled up in decay dare to be heard.

I was terrified as the pages snag your heart keeping it racing against time as each visitor tries desperately to escape.

Jeff writes with such intensity instilling fear into the readers but you cannot stop reading. His words are compelling bringing forth an atmosphere of chilling detail. 😳😳😳

The ones that died. The ones trying to escape death. The ghosts of The Reaper House linger and slip into the minds of eight.

Tortured souls within this house clinging in secrets and decay.

Bold truth lies in the darkness. Motive and murder.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A must-read. Dark thrills that grab you, and send shivers down your spine.

I always rush to grab Jeff’s new releases, and this one did not disappoint. I knew it would be the perfect spooky season read, and it absolutely was. 👻

I was spooked, freaked out, and had to take breaks because the tension was that intense. It’s pure, high-octane suspense that’ll have you forgetting to breathe.

Many years ago, 13 people were murdered in a mansion used as a haunted house attraction. It has remained vacant and deserted... until now. 8 friends plan spend the weekend. What could possibly go wrong? What could possibly go right?!

This needs to be at the top of your TBR. Squeeze it in. Do what you need to do.

Do you like scary ghost stories? Reaper House is the location of 13 murd3rs, a house owned by The Ungers. They ran a haunted house attraction every Halloween. After her husband passed, Isabelle Unger ran it herself, until one night, she k!lled her last group of customers, then herself.
16 years later, Jamie's boss bought the property and sent her there to document things to be repaired and replaced. She invited her friends along to help. Things quickly start getting creepy and scary, her friends acting strangely, even she is seeing and hearing things.
The Reaper has been summoned!
Enter Reaper House if you dare!
I loved Reaper House and the ending...ooooooo! I highly recommend!

That was fun - a haunted house story gave way to a slasher mystery with a few curiosities along the way. The characters were a little underdeveloped and the writing a little stilted but the fast pace of the story pulled me through. I think the core of the story was actually pretty solid but I would have enjoyed a deeper dive into some of the characters and backstories and the peculiar mythology of it.
