AJ. Rella is the author of the Never Tell Trilogy and the Wild Born Series (formerly His Reluctant Luna.) AJ was born in England and when she isn’t writing, you can find her working in her garden or sipping chamomile tea in a cosy armchair, tucked into a book that is hopefully filled with magic, monsters, and a little bit of romance too.
It's finally the end of our Alfie and Lola trilogy. To be honest, I was expecting the mindfuck like in book 1 and book 2. Imagine my surprise when both of them emerged in one of the most healthiest relationship I've ever read.
No drama whatsoever. I can't believe how much these two people have grown out of their toxic behaviours and be the best they want to be for each other. Is this what people called character development? Hehe.
All in all, this is an author everyone should watch out for. I see great things from her.
I’m so excited for the third book I can’t wait, literally one of the best series I’ve read so far it’s so emotional it’s like I’m feeling what they’re experiencing. IN LOVE!! keep going author I’m rooting for you.🤍🤍🥺
…Give me my baby Alfie Lola you can’t take care of him atp. 🤝 here’s my thing I don’t think she likes who Alfie actually is just who he tries to be for her
(I’m fully aware Alfie was a manipulative, gaslighting, egotistical, narcissistic, control freak in book 1 but for once I’m taking the mentally unwell person out of the equation and starting with the person who is painted as “normal” in most eyes of the characters in this book)
Now, lola is a self serving codependent, avoidant attachment, Ignorant person with Abandonment issues who for some reason people believe she has a savior complex, which fits the bill? Right?
Neglecting self care, needing validation constantly, Giving unwanted advice and overstepping personal boundaries limits, making decisions under the mask of kindness. BUT having this need to fix other? To fix alfie? I guess..? 🤨 —————————
Book 1: she cheated on him, I’ve read a lot of cheating books so I grew to stomach this and rage read! It’s my least things and looked past this in my reviews but not them saying she cheated because she was “afraid” HOE? no she cheated because she liked him guys he was the boy next door who would gaze into your eyes and flick your nose 😭😭 it wasn’t fear she just liked him she liked having both
“Found it hard to look away from him” “He kissed me on the cheek and I hated that it covered Bradley’s” “In another life he would be the man for me” A little happy sigh came from me when I felt his mouth on mine”. THIS ISNT ALFIE THIS IS THE OM BRADLEY 😭 fuck you lola
personally alfies “punishment” for her when she did this was VALID BITCH and he didn’t even hurt her and made sure he soothed her so atp I didn’t give a fuck don’t know why she cared about it at the end of the day
She ran from her problems and had Alfie fix it! But claimed she hated it sighs
_______________
Book 2: ..why the hell was everyone shocked he had her watched? Now, the spy? That was messed up but he’s an obsessive multibillionare 😭 I don’t get it man Maybe I’m the problem but he loved her enough to change for her and it wasn’t enough and here’s the straw guys he’s why I hate Lola
This scene when he was crying in-front of her letting her go because he didn’t know who he was outside of trying to be good for her and wanted to be a better man NOT FOR HER but for himself and his future WHICH IS WHAT SHE KEPT SAYING SHE WANTED TO LET HER GO
“I want you Lola but I want myself more”
…what did she do? Scream, cry, trash the room, break things, I hate her she finally realized what she gave up and how she became terrible for his recovery..
Anyway this book? Shes the same… Alfie is constantly reassuring her and she’s constantly running so anyway Alfie baby you’re mine and I hope you realize that There are women in the world that want an obsessive billionaire and it’s me 🫶🏻
This was honestly just a very long epilogue but it's okay bc i love alfie and lola.
I love Alfie and Lo, I really do. I also appreciate the idea of externalizing their problems for the third book instead of repeating the toxic internal problems of the 1st and 2nd. But that ignores what I LOVED about those books which was how deep and personal their problems felt. Now it felt like a weird fake plot based extended epilogue, even down to the random gunfight. Also their problems felt so neatly tied up “hey we took some space and figured out all our problems and never had a big fight ever again!” And alfie just sacrificed his whole character, from his job to his personality to his history, just so the story would work.
i guess some side characters got more screen time... not that i really wanted that... but like i said, ill beg for alfie lola scraps so ill hold my tongue now. and i guess they deserve to be happy or something... even if their fights are more interesting than this honeymoon stuff.
“I’ve been thinking that I’d like to have our wedding there. In the Evergarden. What do you think?” He was quiet for a long moment. “Yes. It will do.” “It will do?” I said, full of indignation, but when I turned I found his eyes brimming with tears. “Oh.”
“I’m starting to think I might have bitten off more than I can chew.” “Too late now.” I waggled my engagement ring at him. “Once it’s on, it’s not coming off.” “Oh, Lola. It was too late for me long before that ring was on your finger.”
“He was quiet for a moment. “What’s wrong?” I’m fine. Say you’re fine. Don’t make him worry. Don’t ruin his trip. “Nothing. I just miss you.” There was another pause that seemed like it lasted forever. “Please don’t lie to me, Lola.” I squeezed my eyes shut and told him the truth. “I need you.” “I’ll be there by morning.”
This is everything I have been waiting for and could have ever asked for! This book honestly reads like an extended epilogue, as NTS pretty much has a satisfying HFN ending. There's some angst in NTV but there's no 'will they won't they' energy, the conflict is external and it is SO good to see Alfie and Lola working as a team and strengthening their bond.
I don't want to spoil a single thing but I will warn you to bring your tissue boxes because I cried no less than six separate times during this gorgeous book. AJ's prose shines and the emotional aspects hit like a gut punch. I loved every second of this book and can't recommend the trilogy enough. NTV is definitely my favourite of the three.
Wowww what a ride, I fell down the Lola and Alfie rabbit hole and got through the trilogy in a 2 days because I was hooked!! I loved seeing Alfie heal and grow and become the person that he needed to become — for himself and Lola I guess lol. I’m on the fence about Lola because I enjoyed their story, I just don’t think I liked her. Alfie really put in the work to become and I feel like that wasn’t the case with Lola. Yes she stood on business and healed from all the crap that Alfie put her through but I don’t know something was lacking. Anyways this book deserves all the flowers (no pun intended🤣) and I’m really glad to have stumbled upon it. I have been in the biggest slump because all the romances seem to be so lazy and shallow these days so this was truly a treat!
I really like the trilogy and I think the writer is very good. As for this book storyline I found it ok, I would want more Lola and Alfie happy scenes. I got bored with so much stuff about flowers etc i skipped a lot of that. Also I didn’t like Alfie leaving the club. As for the characters Alfie had a genuine good character development, Lola not so much… I really don’t like her character she annoys me. I don’t see what Alfie sees in her lol.
I liked this more mature version of Alfie, but I didn’t like Lola’s less mature side. Hiding things and shutting Alfie out when it mattered most didn’t sit very well with me. Also, bringing up Alfie’s mistakes over and over again showed me that she didn’t really trust him that much. I would have loved to see more of them as a couple, or at least get more chapters from Alfie’s POV.
What a heartwarming way to end the trilogy🥹 I absolutely devoured this, and loved it with every fiber of my being. I love Alfie’s Character Development, I love that everyone got their happy ending. Never Tell>>>🌟❤️
