Best friends Sabrina, Billy, and Lucy are getting Hogan Hill Farm in rural Greenleaf, New York ready for a fun and slightly spooky autumn festival. Billy’s older brother Garrett is a Manharran real estate lawyer who spent the last six years clawing his way up the ladder and has just closed on a quarter of a billion dollar deal, which he hopes will earn him a chance to become partner. Little does he know that his brother and friends are on their way to kidnap him back to the family farm.
Actually, Garrett had landed the sale two weeks ahead of schedule, so he has time to go home, and when he gazes at Sabrina with unwholesome thoughts, he decides to take a little time off, at the ranch, ostensibly to celebrate his parents’ retirement, but in reality, he has ulterior motives for his hot friend. Unfortunately, however, the Garrett who shows up is transactional in nature and not appreciative of anything other than making money. Who else would think about how the farmer’s market could syndicate?
Then, after a beautifully passionate intimacy, there is a flicker of hope that Sabrina and Garrett might find common ground, that is until his boss at the firm offers him something that he had worked tirelessly for. But is it really the best choice for him, for his family, and for his budding relationship? And somewhere along the way he is reminded of the word “community,” that special feeling of connectedness, of belonging. But after a series of mishaps, Garrett might have to make a grand gesture to demonstrate his commitment to everyone he truly loves.
Weston Parker once again enthralled me with a small town romance that made me laugh, cry, get angry, and fall in love with the characters who inhabit Greenleaf. I especially appreciate all the minute details that create a vivid picture of ranch life and how everyone binds together to not only help each other but to embrace their heritage with pride. Trick or Tease is the perfect precursor to fall, so grab a copy and enjoy!
