After the good story and the great story in the previous volume, this book is a disappointment. The in-credible (the the original sense) soap opera of the first and the eye rolling ridiculousness of the latter have some entertainment value, but are fare from Caniff's best work. The quote from John Milton helps a little.

i finally get Milton Caniff - this was great! the only thing i'd liked before was Male Call, couldn't figure out the big deal before now. he wrote these for adults, no wonder i was bored as kid reading them, but loved the Phantom.
