A cyberpunk‑fantasy adventure where the game becomes real and survival means deciding who you are willing to stop being.
What if the game became real, and walking away meant losing yourself?
Six lifelong friends wake up inside the characters they created at the gaming table decades ago. Their bodies are stronger. Their abilities are real. The world around them feels more vivid and more dangerous than anything they ever imagined.
What begins as an impossible adventure quickly becomes something else. The longer they survive as Primus, Darkwind, Whisper, Athena, Khan, and Simon, the harder it becomes to remember who they were before. And if they fail, they will not just lose the world they have entered. They risk losing each other, and the people they once were.
Summoned by an inexperienced mage named Cedric, they learn that this world teeters on the brink of collapse. Rumors speak of ancient forces and long‑lost artifacts, but saving a world may be simpler than saving themselves.
Their journey is one of survival, discovery, and fracture. As they navigate treacherous gangs, conspiracies, and beings far beyond anything they imagined at the table, they must confront the most dangerous question of all.
When a role fits this well, who are you when it is gone?
This is not a game anymore.
And there may be no way back unchanged.

Geoffrey H. Wright is the author of Prime Numbers, a cyberpunk fantasy where long-time friendships, role-playing games, and impossible worlds collide.

Inspired by decades of tabletop RPGs, lifelong friendships, and a love of stories where imagination becomes reality, Geoffrey writes character-driven speculative fiction that asks a simple question: What happens when the game becomes real and the bonds between friends are the only thing holding everything together? At the heart of his work is a belief in the unbreakable power of true friendship, tested by chaos, danger, and worlds that do not forgive mistakes.

Prime Numbers is the first book in an ongoing, multi-book series set in the volatile world of Ominus, where magic and technology exist in uneasy balance and survival depends as much on trust as it does strength. Additional books in the series are currently in development.

When he’s not writing, Geoffrey co-hosts the podcast Nerdery and Murdery, a blend of pop culture, comics, games, music, and true crime. He lives with his wife Chelsea balancing family life, writing, and a career in IT while continuing to build the world of Ominus one story at a time.

Stay safe, keep your friends close, and watch your back… Ominus will certainly watch you.

An Awesome Cyber-punk, Sci-fi Adventure with LitRPG Flair.

Six close-knit friends find themselves thrusted into their weekly D&D game. They are now their character personas and are forced to save their world, and many more worlds, from a dark entity.

Prime Numbers is primarily set in Ominus, a futuristic, cyber-punk city that simultaneously shares many characteristics and vibes as any other major city you would visit. Even though Ominus has its own tech, magic, and diverse population, you quickly feel immersed and part of the city. Like the setting, the characters are also fantastical but relatable. You might not know a giant troll like Primus, but you've met someone with his incredible character and heart.

Initially, I was a bit intimidated by the large cast of characters. There are the six friends and their character personas, Cedric (the mage who brings them to the world), and allies like Rook, Shelby, Ortho, Mr. Biolantas, and Dex, to name some of the heaviest hitters. My worries about juggling all of these people, their skill sets, and their personalities were quickly put to bed as the author did an amazing job exploring each and every character, giving everyone a chance to shine and stand out. Every character had a purpose, role, and place in the story, making their actions and bonds with each other more impactful and meaningful.

As someone who is a fan of RPGs I took to this book very quickly. While I've never played D&D before, I do love JRPGs like Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy. I could totally see myself playing this book with friends on a PC, Sony, or Microsoft console. It has also made me yearn for the type of connection and camaraderie these six friends have.

This story really highlights the power of friendship, persevering no matter the circumstances, and being willing and able to grow as a person.

Even if this book is not "your genre," it is incredibly well written and easy to get into. You don't need any special background information, glossary, or map to understand what is going on in the story. It is evident that this book was a work of love and is an incredible reflection of how things such as board games can bring people together and form lifelong friendships and bonds.

I cannot wait to see where the sequel will lead this group of friends, but I plan to be there alongside them, engaged every step of the way.

What a fun ride!!

From the very first pages, “Prime Numbers” feels like you’ve stepped straight into a meticulously written animated series. Even though I’ve never played RPG games before, I found myself imagining the story as a full-blown cyberpunk anime—neon lights, high-tech chaos, magical combat, and a team of unlikely heroes trying to survive in a dangerous world. And oh, boy, it was fun. The pacing, visuals, and action make it incredibly easy to immerse yourself in Ominus and forget you’re just reading words on a page.

The characters ( their gaming versions) are all written with distinct personalities and strengths. Athena was easily my favorite (I’ve always had a soft spot for a true bad-ass heroine), but the entire crew feels dynamic and believable as a team. The level of technical detail in the worldbuilding and especially in the fighting sequences was awesome. The combat scenes are sharp, clear, and intense without becoming confusing, which is no small feat in a cyberpunk-fantasy setting loaded with magic and tech.

If I had to point out one thing that felt slightly lacking, it would be the backstory of the characters—Geoffrey (hey, author, wink wink!!), Keith, and the rest of the group. I would have loved to see more contrast between their human selves and their Ominus personas. It would add another emotional layer to an already strong story. But perhaps that’s something waiting for us in the next installment? Either way, this is an exciting, highly entertaining start to a series that promises even bigger things ahead.

Prime Numbers is a really fun and imaginative twist on the “game becomes real” concept. If you’ve ever played RPGs, it’s easy to get pulled in right away watching a group of friends suddenly become their own characters creates both excitement and a bit of emotional weight.
What I liked most was how the story explores that shift in identity. It’s not just about gaining powers and going on a quest, it’s about figuring out who you are when the line between your real self and your character starts to blur. Each member of the group brings something different to the table, and their dynamics feel natural, especially as they adjust to this new reality.
The world itself is engaging, with a mix of magic, technology, and looming danger that keeps things moving. The quest for artifacts and the larger threat give the story a clear direction, while still leaving room for character moments and surprises along the way.
The pacing is solid, though at times it leans more into setup and world building. Still, it works well for establishing what feels like a bigger series ahead.
Overall, I’d recommend this to readers who enjoy fantasy adventures with a gaming twist. It’s entertaining, character-focused, and does a good job of making a familiar concept feel fresh and engaging.

Prime Numbers by Geoffrey H. Wright takes the classic tabletop fantasy idea and asks a fun question: what if you actually became your RPG character?
Six longtime friends wake up transformed into the heroes they once played at the gaming table, complete with powers, weapons, and larger than life abilities. What used to be imagination is suddenly very real. Summoned into a fragile world by an inexperienced mage named Cedric, they quickly learn this isn’t a quest they can just walk away from.
The world they’ve landed in is unstable, with magic and technology clashing and an ancient force threatening to tear reality apart. To stop it, they’ll need to track down powerful artifacts, survive dangerous factions, and master abilities they’ve only ever pretended to use.
Beyond the action, the story explores identity, what happens when the line between who you are and who you pretend to be disappears. Prime Numbers blends adventure, friendship, and high stakes fantasy into a fast-moving, game inspired tale where the dice don’t offer second chances.

When Fantasy Stops Being a Game
This book nails the thrill of every RPG fan’s secret wish, waking up as your character, but quickly reminds you that power comes with real consequences. The transition from gaming table to living world feels natural and exciting, and the mix of magic, tech, and looming apocalypse keeps the story moving. What really stands out is how the characters struggle with their new identities, making the stakes feel personal as well as epic.

What impressed me most about this book was its balance between concept and execution. The author takes a familiar fantasy trope players entering their game world and elevates it with emotional intelligence and strong character arcs. The pacing, structure, and worldbuilding are all carefully crafted, making it both entertaining and thought-provoking.

"It’s one thing to hear the chemistry between friends on a podcast, but it’s another to see it captured in a novel. As a friend of Geoffrey and Zig, I loved watching their alter-egos run wild in the world of Ominus. The way the characters of Primus and Darkwind interact feels incredibly true to life—it's that specific kind of friendship you only get from years of gaming and creating together. Prime Numbers manages to be funny, action-packed, and surprisingly full of heart. Highly recommended for anyone who loves a good squad-based adventure."

This book reminded me why I fell in love with storytelling in the first place. It’s not just about magic or battles it’s about transformation, resilience, and friendship. The message is clear: even in strange new worlds, the heart remains our greatest weapon. Truly inspiring and unforgettable.

There’s something quietly beautiful about this story. Amidst all the battles and quests, it’s really about love love for your friends, for your dreams, and for who you can become. The writing is so emotional and vivid that it feels like living inside a legend.

Incredible worldbuilding and character depth. The line between player and character blurs in a story full of action, mystery, and emotional stakes. Loved every page.

Love the idea, but did not enjoy the execution. Scenes that could have used more care and attention were rushed through, and the repetitive use of words pulled me out of the story constantly.
