Blossom Peak #1

All This Time

Rate this book
Fletcher Adams is not just the man that stole my heart at fifteen and never gave it back.

He’s also my brother’s best friend, and now one of the most famous players in the NFL.

But now he’s back in Blossom Peak for our mutual friend’s wedding, and guess who are the maid of honor and best man?

That would be us.

I’ve spent the past twelve years ignoring what happened between us that fateful night, and avoiding him as much as possible when he did pop into town to visit.

But now he’s everywhere.

In my salon getting a massage to support my business.

Participating in yoga to support my family’s winery.

And even hacking into my phone to monitor my glucose—which makes me furious and also a little bit weak in the knees.

Then he finds out that my ex-fiancé never satisfied me in the bedroom, so he instantly volunteers for the job.

Turns out time couldn’t snuff the flames that still burned between us.

But Fletcher has demons from his past he hasn’t faced, the kind that you can try to bury but always manage to get washed up in a storm.

And this storm just might destroy us both.

There’s one thing we can’t deny however, even though we try—feelings still matter, even after all this time.

Okay, this was so good! Exactly what I needed during football season! The characters were so easy to fall in love with, and, I loveeeee a second chance romance!

Fletcher Adams was the man who stole Laney’s heart at the age of fifteen. Little did they know that one night, full of unfortunate events, would leave them not speaking to each other for the next twelve years…

“That’s what love is supposed to feel like, isn’t it? Fear mixed with euphoria, comfort, and longing-like no amount of time with them would ever be enough, but you’re deathly afraid that your time will be cut short anyway?”

Laney and Fletcher’s chemistry is everything and more! It’s so obvious that they were meant to be together, it just took a lot of reconciliation, and understanding, to talk through the night that went wrong twelve years ago.

“My feelings for Laney are the only thing that’s felt right in the past twelve years, and it took me coming home to admit that.”

The character’s have so much depth, and their own story as individuals, and that’s a huge part of what I loved about their romance!

Not only is this a romance, but the characters face loss, grief, family trauma, and find healing within each other and the community of people they trust!
Also, therapy! I love that the men in this book aren’t afraid to talk about their feelings and admit that they need help!

I can’t wait to read more of this friend group! The side characters had so much personality, and I need more of their stories! Especially Henley… IYKYK🤭 I’m totally invested now!

I was lucky enough to receive the arc AND alc for this book! The duet is performed by Samantha Brentmoor and Teddy Hamilton… AMAZING! Two of my favorites! Their performance was seamless, and they really brought these characters to life!

Fletcher Adams aka Lucifer
Age 32
Famous NFL wide receiver (Carolina Thunder)
Based in Charlotte, NC
Home is Blossom Peak, NC
Doesn’t return home often due to relationship with his father
His high school (and current) best friends are Rhonan, Elliot, & Henley.
They made a pact at 14.
Part of that pact was sisters are hands off
Laney is Rhonan’s younger sister.

Laney Hart
Age 30
Owns a beauty salon (dreams of being a writer)
Diabetic
Based in Blossom Peak, NC
After dark friendship with Fletcher that began when she was 15 (not known to anyone else, feelings but just friends)
Keeper of Fletchers secrets
Fletcher broke her heart when she was 18 (unbeknownst to Fletcher)

Fletcher and Laney have seen very little of each other in the past 10 years. That’s about to change as Elliot is getting married. The MOH is Laney and the BM is Fletcher. There’s no escaping each other and the forced proximity pushes everything to the surface. That fire still burns. Will they fan the flames or burn it all down?

Takeaways:

Avoid sharing too much information with friends that will rat you out (in the best way)
Beware of walking away from your unlocked phone when Lucifer is present
The red velvet cake is orgasmic and may cause you to blurt out facts you can’t take back
That one time in a dark hallway of a bar
I want all of her / maybe he’s not who she thinks he is
Bets: set a timer for 3:00 minutes
Yoga (lol)
12 year miscommunication / misinterpretation (use your words)
It’s a stick shift, ride it
Wedding (?)
Crap hits the fan and it splatters wide
Accident and a reckoning
Postcards (old & new)
A new pact
A surprise drop off
HEA

This book is everything you want and more (lots more than I’ve put in this review given the book has not been released). I love Fletcher & Laney’s story.

All the cast of characters are superb. I cried, I laughed (a lot), I swooned and I cheered. I’ll be counting down the days for Henley’s story.

Thank you Harlow James and The Smuthood for the opportunity to read and review an advanced reader copy and for introducing me to another “new to me” author. I will be digging into HJ’s backlog.

All This Time by Harlow James
4,5/5⭐
3/5🌶️

I've read a few of Harlow James' books and they’re all fantastic! This latest one is the first in a new series, and it did not disappoint. The story centers around Laney and Fletcher, who have known each other since they were kids. Fletcher is Laney's brother's best friend, and she has had the biggest crush on him for ages. When she finally gathered the courage to confess her feelings at 18, a misunderstanding ended up tearing them apart. Now, whenever Fletcher comes back to their small town, Laney does her best to avoid him. But with mutual friends getting married, Laney is the maid of honor, and Fletcher is the best man, they have to work together. Being in close proximity makes them realize their feelings never really faded.

I loved the dual timeline in this book! We get a glimpse of Laney and Fletcher’s bond as teenagers, and it’s so sweet to see them develop a genuine friendship. Fletcher comes from a tough home life, and only Laney knows what he’s going through. It’s heartwarming to see how she becomes his safe haven. Their friendship feels so genuine, even through the tough moments.

In the present, Fletcher is the most thoughtful guy! He supports Laney in every way he can and he wants her back. While she’s a bit hesitant about jumping into a relationship, Fletcher is certain she’s the one for him. I loved how he continually proves that he cares through little gestures that make her happy, and he’s never too pushy. He’s also super protective of Laney, especially since she has type 1 diabetes. The way he looks after her is just so sweet!

I enjoyed the other characters too! The girl gang is awesome, but the guys really stole my heart. Their support for each other is so heartwarming. I found myself laughing a lot and even shedding a few tears along the way. The friendships in this story are just so heartwarming—I’d love to be part of their inner circle! Overall, this is a fantastic beginning to a new series, and I’m eagerly looking forward to the next book!

After all this time, the perfect second chance romance is finally here—and it’s everything you’ve been waiting for.

Set in the charming small town of Blossom Peak, this story brims with heart, longing, and found family—and it pulls you in from the very first page.

Laney Hart and Fletcher Adams’ story is heartbreak and hope intertwined. Twelve years after their teenage connection ended, they’re reunited as maid of honor and best man, and the chemistry is instant. Old wounds reopen, sparks fly, and that “best friend’s little sister” tension makes every glance sizzle. Fletcher—protective, broken, and determined—will ruin you in the best way.

Emotional, sexy, and beautifully written, Blossom Peak blends heat, humor, and heart into a story of forgiveness and rediscovery.

It’s the kind of heartfelt, passionate romance that stays with you—and the perfect beginning to a series you’ll never want to end.

"Laney Hart is intriguing, intelligent, a tad feisty yet kind, and her green eyes shine when the sunlight hits them—a detail I shouldn’t know but now can’t seem to forget."

✨️Thank you so much to Harlow James and Smuthood PR for this ARC and ALC for my honest review. I went into this book thinking it was gonna be a fun ride, and don't get me wrong, it was but it also brought on some tears that I wasn't expecting 🤭. This book gives you all the tension and angst you love of a brother's best friend but also brought on some heart break as well. I loved Fletcher so much. He was such an easy MMC to care for and fall in love with. The chemistry between him and Laney was off the charts 🔥. Experiencing the narration on audio in duet made it an even better experience. I definitely recommend it!

I want to think The Smuthood and Harlow James for the opportunity to read this ARC. This book captured my heart from the beginning and who doesn’t love a brother’s best friend romance!! Fletcher is a NHL player who comes home for one of his best friend’s weddings. Laney is the girl who has had a crush on him for years. Laney has hated Fletcher for the last several years because she felt rejected by him as a teenager when she told him how she felt about him. While doing their Maid of Honor and Best Man duties the tension is still there that was present all those years ago. Laney and Fletcher decide to do the 'friends with benefits' and of course their feelings just grow deeper for each other. Laney does find out that it was a miss understanding all those years ago and that Fletcher did fell the same but he, her brother and their other friends made a pact that sisters were off-limits. Fletcher had me swooning so many times with how he just wanted to care for Laney.

ALC/ARC review

Narration by Teddy Hamilton & Samantha Brentmoor & they were perfection as always!! They were perfect for Laney & Fletcher!

I absolutely love a brother’s best friend & this one by Harlow James was done so well! Laney & Fletcher’s chemistry was everything I could have wanted & he is the definition of if he wanted to he would! Laney was a strong willed FMC & she made Fletcher work for what he wanted, but also loved him so fiercely. This was a beautiful story with found family & dealing with family trauma. So many emotions in this book & it was so so good! I cannot wait for more from this series!!

Thank you Harlow James for this ALC/ARC opportunity!

is this going to be my new fave Harlow James series? Is the ladies who brunch series going to get surpassed?
it sure as fuck is looking that way!

Fletcher and Laney have seen very little of each other in the past 10 years but that's all about to change because Laney's brother and Fletchers best friend is getting married & who is the best man? none other than Fletcher! & who is the maid of honor? none other than Laney... Now they are forced to work together to help make this wedding a success.

This book was SUCH a good time!! I loved the banter between Fletcher Adams aka Lucifer (LOL) and Laney! I loved that Laney gave him so much shit and he was just so down bad for her. This book is just a GOOD time & I loved every minute of it.

“Can the right person suddenly make everything click into place? Or does growing up truly mean that the life we were avoiding was just our fear of the unknown?”

Lucifer got nothing on him, bringing Vegas to the small town of Blossom Peak, “I can do it myself” female energy and “I know, but let me do this for you” male energy, not related by blood but family anyway and an idiotic pact.

Happy release day to Harlow James. I hope your day is filled with lots of love for the beautiful story and lovable characters you created as start of this series. I want to thank both Harlow and the.smuthood for the opportunity of this ARC

If it was up to Laney, Fletcher Adams remained in her past. One night fifteen years ago changed how she envisioned the man that her brother calls his best friend. Love got traded with hate, avoiding not only the man himself on the rare occasions he visited town after he got drafted for the NFL, but also making sure his name will not be spoken in her salon - unless you want to go broke. However a wedding of mutual friends and the duties as the maid of honor and the best man, ensure that she can’t escape him this time around. And suddenly he is everywhere; in her salon, at her family’s winery and broken into her glucose app. But can you really blame him, he has to find a way to return her heart again after all those years. Except, after a while it becomes clear that Laney her heart has a no return policy, the fire that has been there fifteen years ago never burned out. However, there is a storm coming filled with demons of the past. Will they be able to weather it, or will they go down under?

My first Harlow James but definitely not my last. All this time exactly proved why I rather don’t read series when they are not complete yet, because I seriously don’t want to leave Blossom Peak. I want the other stories - of I’m guessing the other boys of the the blackjack brotherhood - as well! Harlow has such a lovely writing style. Dragging you into the story from the first page, quick with a healthy dose of humour, sentiment and spice.

Before I fangirl about Laney and Fletcher, what makes this a series I look forward to and a reason I want to stay within Blossom Peak is that all the - okay most of them (you know who you are) - side characters are so loveable. Found family and that in capital letters. You really feel the friendship and love for each other through the pages and the strength of the small town community.

Even with the hatred she carries towards Fletcher, Laney is such a sweetheart. Always there to help for everyone around her, Except it made her forget herself in the process. Giving up her dreams to help her family out, still getting a degree during a difficult time in her life and running her own successful business. Laney is a power woman with a heart of gold.

But Fletcher Adams? Damn, where can I find a man like that? Massive green flag energy. We all have chapters in our life we don't talk about and Fletcher is not different. But the man he has become despite his past is just so beautiful to see. The love he has for his friends, the fact that he is not afraid to say how important his friends are and wants to do the best he can as the best man (ghehehe) of the wedding is amazing to see. But the most incredible thing for me was the effort he put in for Laney and taking care of her and her needs. He is there for her and taking care of her, just as she was there for him when they were younger. And I would feel they moved rather fast at the end, but someway it just really fits for them.

I absolutely loved this story and I can't wait to return to Blossom Peak again <3

If you love found family and brother’s best friend I can safely say you will eat this up. As an extra you also get him taking care of her, small town and friends to enemies to lovers.

ARC & ALC REVIEW
📚All This Time by Harlow James
🎤Samantha Brentmoor & Teddy Hamilton

DUET NARRATION
4.5⭐
Book One in the Blossom Peak Series

No surprise I totally devoured this book by Harlow. I LOVE her books & she has been casting some of the best narrators! I absolutely LOVED it! I'm certain she cast Teddy FOR ME, knowing he's my favorite!😉 This is such a FANTASTIC beginning to a new series & I can't wait to see what happens in Blossom Peak!

Fletcher Freaking Adams!🙌 He is the man! He's sensitive, thoughtful & got a mouth that made me go slightly feral! Fletcher & Laney have been attached since high school. But when a misunderstanding tears them apart years ago, they must figure out how to navigate being back in each others lives and fulfill their roles in the wedding of their friends. He's the best man, she's the Maid of Honor! Having to plan the wedding festivities & spend time together forces them to unpack the past & own up to their feelings for each other!

I absolutely LOVE a dual timeline and we get to see how their friendship & love begins & grows. Laney has truly hated Fletcher for years, so when the famous NFL player strolls back into town, she's irritated to say the least. Once they spend some time together, it's more than obvious these two still have it BAD for each other & the chemistry they once had is still there ya'll! They want each other & they totally cave!🙌

Fletcher really had to prove & SHOW Laney he wanted her back. His small gestures of thoughtfulness & love were so flippin sweet. Laney helps him work through his abusive relationship with his father providing support & advice that draws them even closer together! Their sneaking around & hot as heck chemistry was EVERYTHING! They go from love to hate and back to love and we get ALL the banter and it's absolutely delicious! What I LOVED most was that their relationship was built on a true & genuine friendship. They have a history together, they were there for each other & it slowly grew into something more! Always meant to be, it was so dang sweet!

🎤Let's talk audio: It's no secret around these parts that Teddy is a favorite of mine and I absolutely LOVE when he voices characters that are just so down bad for their women, literally will do everything to make them see that they are wanted. He melts me every time you guys! I can't help it but I love his voice with all my heart and Fletcher was as swoony as they come! He & Samantha have such an amazing chemistry together. Having worked so much together, they are so natural & perfect playing off of each other. I LOVED Laney's character and Samantha gives her spunk & sass that gives Fletcher a run for his money! She's absolutely amazing at performing emotional scenes & I couldn't love her more. These two are GOLD ya'll and they make this audio an absolute MUST to listen to.

Harlow, the ending of this book made my heart skip a beat! I can't wait to see what happens with all these characters. Creating a great found family is one of her strengths & I absolutely know that this series is going to knock my socks off!

Thank you so much Harlow James, The Author Agency and OneNightStand Studios for a copy of the ARC & ALC to review. I love being on Harlow's team & spreading the good word about her books! Pick this one up you guys, you won't be disappointed!

All I can say is WOW this book wrecked me in the best way. I went in thinking it would be a light sports romance but omg the trauma, the healing, and baby the spice!!!

This book was exactly what I needed to get me back into the romance genre after a slump! I’ve read a lot of brother’s best friend stories but I connected deeply with this story for so many reasons.

As a recently discovered Type 2 diabetic I love the representation in this story! My journey may be a bit different than the one Laney experiences but it feels great to be seen!

The love that Fletcher and Laney share transcends time, loss, and anger. I couldn’t get enough of them and the author setup the rest of the series so well. I need to rest of the series ASAP!

This was my first book by Harlow James and it absolutely will not be my last. I loved this one from start to finish and am already counting down to book two.

Fletcher and Lainey had me hooked immediately. Their history, the tension, the years of unresolved feelings, it all hit so perfectly. Fletcher’s determination, his flirty confidence, and the way he shows up for Lainey again and again gave me all the feels! I loved watching him prove, over and over, that he was all in. The small gestures, the emotional growth, the way he falls hard, total Swoon!!!

Lainey was just as compelling. Strong, guarded, and completely relatable, especially as she works through the past and learns to trust what’s right in front of her. Their chemistry felt earned, grounded in real friendship, real hurt, and real love.
And the audio was just wonderful and amplified the story for me. Teddy Hamilton and Samantha Brentmoor are always an incredible pairing and I knew going in this was going to deliver, and I was right!!!! Teddy brings so much warmth, charm and emotional depth to Fletcher. You can feel how down bad he is for Lainey!!! And as always, Samantha captures Lainey’s strength and vulnerability beautifully. Her voice is so smooth and her transitions are always flawless! Their chemistry made the story feel intimate, immersive and impossible to stop listening to.

Between the small town charm, the found family vibes and a romance that balances heart, heat, and healing, this was such a standout listen for me. Blossom Peak already has me in a chokehold and I’m very ready for what’s next.

Brother’s best friend x second chance x football

The football romance I needed!! I haven’t read many football romances yet but I loved this one and it was the perfect intro to the genre (and perfectly timed with football season starting up). It’s easy to read, easy to fall in love with the characters and be desperate for them to find each other again. The looks into the past and timed so well and I couldn’t put it down.

Read this if you’re in the mood for…
-brother’s best friend
-second chance
-forced proximity
-friend group dynamics
-first in an interconnected series

Highly recommend reading the bonus epilogue too! It’s so sweet.

I will be recommending! Can’t wait for more to the series.

Small town ✔️ best friends brother ✔️ best man x maid of honour ✔️ friends to hate to love ✔️ secret relationship ✔️ flashbacks ✔️

If there one thing I can count on Harlow for is that her small towns always feel like home, her FMC’s are always funny and smart as hell, and her MMC’s are swoony AF.

This is the first book in a new series, and despite the fact I was coming off the back of a little slumpy slump, and it took me longer than I’d like to really get into this book because of that, I ended up really liking where this story took me.

Laney had a crush on Fletcher as teens, and the night she told him how she felt… well things didn’t quite go to plan and ever since she has held a lot of feelings in. I loved getting to know her better, seeing her friendship with Dilynne and their dynamic was a source of a lot of laughs.

Fletcher was so down bad for Laney, and had been forever but because of his friendship with her brother he didn’t quite know what to do with it. Now he’s a star in the NFL and is back home for his friend’s wedding. Knowing what he did to support Laneys business, her family’s business, her health… the way he was so protective over her and wanted to make sure she was always okay… then finding out about how their friendship started… and the reasons she was his safe place had me feeling so emotional.

Their reconnection was full of tension, heat and lot of lingering feelings from both sides and their pact to keep it casual… well it’s safe to say there was never anything casual between them, and they were SO FREAKING HOT. Fletcher Adams and his mouth 😮‍💨 the cockiness and the way he worshipped her. 🥵

I really liked getting to meet all the new characters too, and I am SO INTRIGUED as to what Dilynne’s story line is going to be… I have a theory that may involve a certain man but who knows. Also… that epilogue and the way it set us up for the next book 👀👀 Harlow… consider my interest piqued 🤭

There were many laughs from the friendships and banter, fans to the face from the spice, and tears from several heartfelt moments. I must be reading a romance book by Harlow James—All This Time, Book 1 of the Blossom Peak Series. How does Harlow do this?

When the maid of honor and best man have a past and have to spend time together for their friend's wedding, they are forced to address issues that ended their friendship several years ago. The circle of friends these two have is wonderfully supportive and hilarious, too. Harlow incorporates memory scenes that show the readers how their friendship developed and has us feel it—weaving it seamlessly through the present time.

The audiobook had outstanding narration performed by Teddy Hamilton and Samantha Brentmoor. Fletcher is an “atta girl” type of guy, too. The things he says to Laney—especially when you hear it coming from Teddy Hamilton’s voice and he says, “God, I want to ruin you”. It’s incredibly hot and there’s no shortage.

I can’t say enough about this brand new series. So many memorable moments from “Friends” reference, Laney’s bestie, Dylan, and the storyline of the bride and groom themselves. I’m looking forward to more to come.

Thank you to Author Harlow James and The Author Agency for the gifted copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Another top read by Ms. James! This series is going to be fantastic, having set up so much in this book. Fletcher and Laney were perfect and just the best match! Their tension, back and forth and pull they have is so good. I needed to know what would happen next with these two, making so easy to fly through the book.

Laney was amazing! This woman was all kinds of wonderful, I loved her personality and her determination! She had her heart guarded when it came to Fletcher, years of hurt built up, but also such a soft spot for the deep connection and friendship they shared so many years ago.

Fletcher-my man!! This Swoony book boyfriend was not messing around! The way he showed up for Laney and really worked to make it known he was there for her was wonderful. He was willing to put all the effort in and wasn’t going to let her slip through his fingers again. He wanted answers!

Like most of Harlow’s books, this really hit me in the feels, pull at my hearts strings and brought all kinds of emotions! Laney and Fletcher had a story to tell! I loved that we got to see glimpse of their entire relationship, and things from the past. The chemistry was not lacking between them, but they had some challenges to work through. I really enjoyed how their relationship progressed, their bond was still strong and these two set the pages on fire when they finally gave in to the tension and feelings!

Harlow really has done it again-the writing; the story; the characters-Addictive! I truly can not wait for what the rest of this series will bring!

I was also lucky enough to have the audio of this book. Samantha and Teddy did a wonderful job, their duet performance flowed so well . They both brought these characters and their story to life, and made for such an enjoyable listening experience where I was able to completely be immersed in the story.

ARC review ❣️✨

This was my first Harlow James book and it was super cute. It had the perfect amount of spice. Not too overwhelming, but didn’t have me begging for more. The characters were great, I loved all of their development and story lines. Now, I’m already invested in the side characters love life’s and where this series will go! Rooting for so many of them.

This book is a second chance, forbidden romance. She falls for her brother’s best friend. There’s a brotherhood pact that’s broken.

The FMC for this book gave the perfect small town girl vibes. She’s a salon owner and hair dresser. I love her no bullshit energy and the fact that she can hold her own. But she’s also a softie, she gave up some big dreams to take care of others.

The MMC is an NFL superstar from a small town. He surprised the heck out of me. You learn about him as this golden retriever as a young adult, so I was expecting the same energy as an adult. But, he goes full caveman and I’m a sucker for a possessive PDA giving MMC.

The best friend of the FMC is an amazing add to the story. She’s hilarious and brought so much banter, along with the FMC’s work friends. I am a firm believer that without banter a book really knocks several stars.

I was expecting the typical second act break up which honestly, gets so old, but was pleasantly surprised that there was not one. Bless ⭐️

After this, I intend to go back and read some of her other books. I also may dive into the audible because DUEL narration & Teddy Hamilton… say less.

Thanks to Harlow James and The Smuthood for allowing me the privilege of this ARC!

This one gave me alllllll the feels!! I always know Harlow is going to give me a story that will hit me emotionally but also feel like a big hug. There’s just something about her writing that really immerses me into her world and I just devour each story!! This one was no different!

Fletcher, my baby boy. I love this man. He has a such a big heart, and went through so much. There were so many moments I had tears well up in my eyes. 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘶𝘮𝘢 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯’𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘪𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘥𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘥—𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘥 𝘯𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦. 😭 Fletcher and Laney’s relationship was rocky, and when we find out what happened, I totally would’ve reacted the same as Laney. But I was rooting for them the whole time!

Oh, and Fletcher has a filthy mouth on him 🤭 This one may be one of Harlow’s spiciest ones yet! 👏🏼

What a freaking start to this series!! I was so excited when Harlow started teasing this new series, and she set it up so well. I’m so intrigued in all of these characters! I was laughing out loud at times with some hilarious moments — “𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘢 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸 𝘶𝘱!” I cannot wait for what’s to come! 🫶🏼

This audio? 10/10!! The squeal I let out when I found out these two were narrating together! I love this duo and in duet? Seriously, they nail it everytime!! I will never skip anything they work on. Highly recommend this one! 👏🏼

Every time Harlow kicks off a new series, I’m enamored.

And Blossom Peak might be my favorite series yet. From the emotional depth, the representation (both mental health and chronic illness), the close-knit community, small town, and so much more… I loved every moment of tension, every stolen moment, and each character as their own person, even if I loved them together that much more.

Fletcher has stayed away because of a childhood pact made between best friends. But his heart has belonged to his best friend’s little sister for far longer than he’s ever admitted. Until now.

Laney has closed off her heart after so much pain and loss in her life. She has made it her mission to avoid Fletcher at all costs whenever he comes back to town, but now that they’re supposed to work together for a mutual friend’s wedding, all bets are off and the chemistry between them is just one match away from igniting.

Don’t miss this beautiful story—also absolutely incredible on audio, narrated in duet by Teddy Hamilton and Samantha Brentmoor.

With this one, you’ll get:
🔥brother's best friend
🔥friends to enemies to lovers
🔥forced proximity
🔥second chance
🔥secret friendship
🔥best man & maid of honor
🔥sports romance
🔥He falls first and HARD
🔥Overcoming trauma
🔥found family
🔥Mental Health + Chronic Illness Rep
🔥Small town

ARC REVIEW

This was the first book I’ve read from Harlow James and I must say, I really like her writing style. Something I absolutely adored about this book was the character building that happened right from the start. Far too often books will neglect to give details on their characters but reading this book, I perfectly understood who Fletcher and Laney were. Even the side characters got time and effort put in to their backgrounds.

On to the book itself, I really did enjoy the story. I love the idea of a second chance romance. Fletcher and Laney are forced to be around each other because of the roles they play in their friend’s wedding. Laney despises it because she knows what being around Fletcher does to her. Fletcher, in all his charm, just wants Laney to not look at him with so much disinterest. Their dynamic changes throughout the book and it is just great. They have great banter back and forth that I think is enjoyable for the reader. As a whole, it was a great read.

✨ Thank you to Harlow James and The Smuthood for the ARC. I am truly thankful!

Oh, Harlow. You never miss, do you?

this story, the first in her new blossom peak series, captured my heart quickly and repeatedly.

our MCs are both so compelling, so incredible — you can’t help but fall for them and root for them the whole way through.

i loved the dual timeline, as well as the gentle and thoughtful way Harlow handled some really tough subjects.

This love story is addictive and captivating — with an audiobook (performed by Samantha Brentmoor and Teddy Hamilton) — that was absolutely perfect.

Cannot recommend enough.

Thanks to Harlow for this arc and alc as part of her team!

Is this going to be my new favorite Harlow James Series??? I think it may! This was a different taken on "second chance". They weren't ever realllly together but they both ended up heartbroken when they were young. I had such a good time reading this. The banter was amazing. The TENSION was insane. And the spice was next level 🥵

I loveeeee that Laney didn’t make it easy on him and made him actually work to have her back in his life. The reason they lost touch was valid coming from an 18 year old girl who thought she was being rejected.

I LOVED the side characters and getting to meet new faces. I had a feeling I knew where the plot was headed but it was still drama filled and kept me intrigued until the very end.

Tropes:

✨️ Best Friend's Brother
✨️ Pro Football Player
✨️ Enemies to Lovers
✨️ Friends With Benefits

I had the pleasure of receiving and ALC of this book from The Author Agency.
The narrators Teddy Hamilton and Samantha Brentmoor did a great job. I can listen to Teddy read a phone book, and Samantha just has a voice that scratches an itch in my ear. She's kind of my female voice crush LOL. Anyways...they did a great job.

Fletcher came from a rough home that he kept hidden from everyone, even his best friends. The same best friends that all made a pack to never date each others sisters. But as fate would have it, Fletcher and his best friends sister, Laney, managed to build a friendship in secret. They had feelings for each other that neither of them let be known.

Then one day, tragedy struck and things just didn't fall the way they wanted them to. After that, life as they both knew it changed.

Fast forward to what I think is about 12 years later, and they are both going to be in the same wedding as best man and maid of honor who must find a way to work together to help out with the wedding things that the bride and groom will not be able to handle.

It was a sweet and enjoyable story and would recommend to anyone looking for this type of read!

A brand new series from one of my faves??? Say less!

I was incredibly honored to get to listen to this one a little early & let me just say it might be my new favorite from Harlow!

I loved the dynamic between Laney & Fletcher. Even though there was a bit of a forbidden aspect of this story, their relationship went way beyond their current situation. The back story for these two was heartbreaking, but it made their bond that much stronger. I couldn’t help but root for them the entire time.

The narration was beautifully done in duet, which made it that much better! It truly made you feel like you were a part of the story.

I was completely addicted to this story!! I couldn’t put it down and listened in one sitting. There are a lot of layers to uncover with Fletcher and Laney, and their story is emotional and heartfelt. I love how hard he fell, and how protective he was, and how diligent he was when it came to making sure she was taken care of. These two will seriously have you kicking your feet giddy. And the side characters are so entertaining and left me desperate for the next book in this series!!

ARC/ALC REVIEW!

Harlow James freaking nailed this one. I’m a sucker for brother’s best friend and this one was perfect!! Fletcher and Laney were perfect! This man is showed up and showed out to get his girl. He was so swoony and just wanted to take care of his girl!! I love that Laney made him work a little and died laughing at the Lucifer nickname 😆😆
I feel like I found so many Easter eggs in this book and I can’t wait to see how the rest of the series plays out

Teddy and Samantha were perfect as always and the perfect choices to voice Lan and Fletcher! I will definitely listen to this one again!

There isn’t a book I don’t like that Harlow writes. They’re all so incredible. They have the best characters, plots, HUMOR (my god does she make me giggle). I truly cannot get enough of her writing. As soon as I finish one book, I’m ready for the next. They’re easily 24 hour reads for me.

This was such a beautiful start to a new series. I love the small town vibes, the characters, the friendships, they all make me so incredibly happy. Fletcher and Laney checked every box, the pull, the tension, the banter, they are perfect all around. Laney is the friend you want in your corner. So much of her story hit close to home. I could relate so much to her. And Fletcher? 🥵You’ll just have to read it to find out😏

Thank you Harlow and Team for an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
