3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I don’t even know what to say. This was heartbreaking. I really wasn’t expecting to cry so much when I initially pick this book up. I don’t even know❤️‍🩹.

Meh. Good concept. Lacks character development, poor transitions, several names for the same person, published book has these things I call a step down, when a word or few letters in the middle of a word appear lower. Pros: short. Interesting.

Overall, this book needs some work. The transitions were awful. They would occur in the middle of a chapter and just not have a cohesive feel. Very abrupt scene endings at times. The mystery was very interesting. I could totally see this developed into a much longer full-length novel and the cliffhanger leaves room for further development. It also didn't feel cohesive. POV was shaky at best. It felt disjointed, like you asked 11 people to write this story and they chose one chapter to write and try to make it into one story that makes sense. I wish there was more. There's so many ways to lengthen this and include more background for each of the characters. If this is who we think it is, it's just not quite as descriptive as her songs. For how great of a story teller she is, she miss the marks on a number of things. I couldn't describe many of the main characters in terms of essence. There wasn't enough background info, and even when the main character goes back to her previous life, there was no character development. MC didn't change throughout the book and neither did most of the other characters.

If TS wrote this then it was something she did and forgot about.
If it’s written by someone else they need to work on it. The premise was interesting but the execution was lacking.
The main character has SEVERAL names. That’s wild.
The scenes would just start at a new scene randomly. We don’t have a good focus on the plot as much as an idea of what it should be.
The twist are solid but I was never connected to the book enough to truly care.

I rated this book 3 stars because I enjoyed the twists and turns of the book, however, there were so many characters that went by different names and flashbacks within the chapters that it was hard to keep track of who was who and what was going on. I constantly caught myself going back and forth to make jt make sense. But for Taylor Lakes (Swift’s) 😉 first book, not bad!

It’s convenient everyone has read this but no one in the reviews has left any sort of reference to a single character, moment, or any sort of plot happening. I seem to remember most book reviews mention many of those things, probably because they are real books people have read. Can anyone give me ONE specific detail? That’s all I’m asking.

This has to be AI. The book changed the main characters name a few times. If Taylor wrote this at 14, how did she drop modern easter eggs into the book?!
It’s really bad.

I don’t know who wrote this book, but it does remind me of first drafts of novels written by my high school creative writing students. That said… they are pretty good writers with many creative ideas, but they don’t understand how to structure the plot and transition smoothly between scenes. This almost seems like it was written by two different people because I sense style and voice changes. The strengths of the book are the interesting characters, mysterious settings, and believable dialogue. If it could be structured better to avoid confusion and develop suspense, it could make an exciting movie. It was worth the read even though it did just jump around from plot to plot and there was little foreshadowing of what was coming.
