Born the oldest of three children, Patricia Haverton grew up believing that she'd follow in her father's footsteps and pursue a career in science. However, her worldview changed when she decided to explore her British mother's roots. The trip to her ancestral lands solidified her conviction that she had found her true calling in the romanticism of the Era of Kings and Queens.

A hopeless romantic and a firm believer in the idea of soulmates, Patricia changed the course of her life and decided to get her degree in Creative Writing and Psychology. As she jokingly says ever so often, "she lives in the past now, where love shows the way and Dukes save the day!"

When she's not weaving tales of love that prevails, Patricia enjoys spending time with her husband, roaming the British countryside, where they have been living in for the past decade.

Now would be the time to let yourself go and experience the true magic of the Regency Era! Let your imagination run wild, live amazing adventures through the eyes of brave heroes! Like the legendary wise wizard, Patricia will be your guide!

Wonderful characters, majestic setting, and crazy good plot!

Can I just say, once again, how much I enjoy reading Patricia Haverton's series, Dukes & Beasts. A consummate storyteller, Patricia Haverton, brings Regency England alive. Easy to read, and delightfully entertaining, Patricia's writing keeps me saying, to my family and the dogs, " I'll be with you, as soon as I finish just one more chapter!" My family usually gives up and feed themselves, but the dogs haven't quite learned how to do that!

Her Lion of a Duke is book three in the series. Another of the four best friends, is faced with a scandal-driven marriage of convenience. However, the plot is unique. Along with the usual romance story, Patricia added a touch of suspense and mystery. In my opinion, the whodunit plot twist made Her Lion of a Duke the best of the series so far.

I love the snarky as well as the flirty banter between the two main characters, Leo and Cecilia. Being friends when story begins, neither hesitates to call the other out when they try to lie to themselves. The result is that the dialogue is bewitchingly witty and entertaining! Cecilia is no shrinking violet, yet with Leo you begin to see her softer, more vulnerable side. Leo also becomes less misogynist and more multidimensional. Patricia Haverton skillfully develops her characters thus making them come alive as they undergo a relatable transformation.

For the maximum reading pleasure, I would recommend reading the series in order. Yet, you could read this novel as a stand-alone. Her Lion of a Duke is a great way to relax and let life's stress fade a bit into the background. I recommend it to all historical romance fans.

The book description is very vague unlike the actual contents of the book. I enjoyed the characters but after reading the prologue, when Leonard started talking to his dead brother I was confused. I didn't like this part of the story at all. I think Leonard's grief could've been expressed in a better way. Leonard and Cecilia's love story was formed from a respectful friendship that I admired in these characters.

Great story!

Leonard was a Duke, due to the dearth of his brother. His best friend was a girl, Cecilia. Leonard was never to marry. Cecilia was also never to marry. She freigtened off men. No one wanted to marry her. She had strong opinions and that left a bad mark on her family. Her cousin wasn’t asked for dates because of it so she married to help out her cousin, Clara. She married her best friend, Leonard. This is a very good book, please read.

Chapter 28 "She had made her choice--" Basically that is the heroine's primary behavior. And most of the time, her choice was to do what she wanted to do and what she felt she had the power to do.
I really did not like our heroine, but she changed by the end of the book to a woman who considered other people instead of just doing what she felt was best for herself.

A Secret, Another Secret, A Marriage…

The Duke, Leonard, finally reveals a need to marry his best friend, & she
agrees. Be it seems there is a very devious cousin and who knows what
he really wants! Or knows about Henry. A puzzle indeed. And it seems a secret is about to be revealed & perhaps another. Could it truly be Love? A lovely read!

This is a seriously excellent book! The characters are delightful, the villain horrible and the plot is spectacular!

My favorite part it is a very cleanly written story.
