*The Laird’s Unwanted Wife is a steamy Scottish historical romance novel of 60,000 words (around 300 pages) written by Eloise Madigan and published by Cobalt Fairy.
No cheating, no cliffhangers, lots of steam and a happy ending.
This is a new-to-me author, recommended by one of my favorite authors, Lydia Kendall.
I have just finished this story with Gerald & Aileen and not to forget Mollie and Bannock!! Such a wonderful story.
Most people I have known in my life have dealt with this sort of "family obligation" like what Gerald is going through. And the feelings of "invisibility" that Aileen is going through, along with little six year old Mollie constantly having to "move castles". The characters in this story are well developed and defined. The details regarding the surroundings, and the antics of Mollie and Bannock! So cute. But also, the way the author describes how the characters feelings show on their faces and their body language. These details, to me, gives more indepth "flesh" to the story. And as the reader I get to experience it all in my mind while I am reading. That's a huge plus for me.
Oh and, I love Arthur and Olivia and look forward to reading their story next!!
This book was such a wonderful ending to another fantastic series by this author. I’ve enjoyed reading many authors within the Cobalt Fairy’s publishing group but I have to say, Eloise Madigan is one of my top two. I started this series a few days ago and I couldn’t put it down. I’m ready now to dig in and start another! I generally read by publication date, furthest publication to most recent. I never want to miss out on anything or any character in case single reads become part of a series. I can’t express enough how much I really enjoyed the style of writing of this author as well as the storyline of this series. I highly recommend it. Just start reading. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
This is exactly what it states a Highlander’s novel. The overarching theme was fine but I struggled with the romance part because the main couple Laird Gerald and Lady Aileen did not get together until the end of the book. Once they met due to a conflict and traitor, it was a teasing of these two coming together. The story did indicate that Aileen was naive and had been hidden away for years with her little sister Mollie. But the struggle with Laird Gerald, as well, being naive to how to be in a relationship was just too much for me. I did finish reading it but was disappointed with the romance part of the story.
I … I daenae think I will ever fall out of love with ye, dear husband.
Aileen has always been the outcast, he own clan will not accept her. When her brother is found to be a villain she faces the cruelest. The man her brother betrothed her to removes her from his castle. Aileen is doing the best she can when she is found by Gerald. A Laird her brother wronged. Aileen is looking for a purpose and a future, Gerald needs to forgive himself and allow himself a future of love. I enjoyed this story, the antics of Mollie and her deer hounds. The discovery that two hearts can heal. Eliose's storytelling has made another great addition to the series. Happy Reading.
This was about a woman who was abused and not "seen" in her clan and was discarded with her 6 yr. old sister Mollie. Gerald a Laird from the north came at a time when they needed him. He decided to take them back to his castle and marry Aileen the older sister. During this time the learned to love the Laird even though he had his walls up against Aileen. They married and he still had issues. His best friend betrayed him and his older brother Ewan was killed by Aileen's brother. As many of these novels go unnatural changes in relationships take place and become normalized.
The characters are well developed and the storyline is a good one. I look forward to the next in the series number 6.
The Laird’s Unwanted Wife is a heartfelt story of survival, forgiveness, and the healing power of love. Aileen, outcast and betrayed by her own family, finds an unexpected chance at a new life with Gerald, the laird her brother wronged. Their journey is filled with emotional depth, tender moments, and the charming antics of Mollie and her spirited deerhounds. Eloise weaves a richly engaging tale that explores broken hearts mending and new beginnings blossoming. A sweet, captivating read that will linger warmly in your heart...
Gerald lost his brother in battle. He had thoughts that he didn’t deserve a life of happiness, a wife or heirs. His best friend betrayed him and the other clans. Gerald went to the castle to get evidence that Marcus had betrayed them all. In the study he found a little girl and a woman, hiding in a closet. Aileen had his sword raise against him. Mollie was yelling at her dog to stop biting him. So he thought that he’d marry her to protect her and her sister. Boy oh boy, there are so many ups and downs.
What a powerful story of survival! Aileen has been mistreated all of her life and used as a bargaining “tool” by her half brother. Saved by Gerald she still as at the whims of a man….will she ever be able to have what she desires? Will she overcome her insecurities….will her sister Mollie be given a chance to have a life and family? Will the Beastly Laird prove to be more than a Beast? Gotta read this book sweet story and read!
This book keeps the reader waiting for the next happening. It's a story of a friend' s betrayal which is also the cause of a brother's death. It affects all the clans and it causes the betrayer's sisters to be outcast. This story is an emotional read and a wonderful happy ending.
Gerald finds Aileen and Mollie hidden in the old Lairds office. They had been left behind by their clan. Gerald takes them home as his new family. Aileen is to be his wife and he promises to care for Mollie. Trouble happens and they realize that they care for each other and life goes on.
Loved reading this adventure! It was very interesting and exciting. The battle scene at the end was beautifully written. The characters were awesome. Thanks for sharing your story!!!
What a great story of a ladies commitment to her sister. Aileen will do whatever needs to be done to secure her sisters future. Laird Gerald helps out but needs to get over a past pledge. This book will keep you going from start to finish. Love this series.
Both suffered tragedy, but the lady, as ladies do, overcame more daily abuse. An intense story of finally fulfilling love. Intriguing dialog. Love the wolfhounds!
The story started with betrayal and threats of unrest. It slowly developed into a romance and love story. The characters had great personalities and it's enjoyable to see them develop.
This was an sweetly flowing heartfelt story. I loved how it tied the previous four books together. It was the perfect amount on angst with a perfect finish.
An excellent book, with a excellent storyline and great characters. The story of Laird Gerald and Aileen and her sister Mollie. This series of books has been excellent.
