I was born into the ruling Irish mafia family in Boston. A Killaney by blood. A target by default.
As the only daughter in a dynasty of powerful men, I’ve spent my entire life proving I don’t need protecting.
Not from my brothers.
Not from their enemies.
Not from anyone.
So when the black feathers start appearing, warnings from a secret order hunting my family, I expect to fight my way through it.
What I’m not ready for is him.
Octavian Voinea.
My new bodyguard.
A 6 foot 6 tattooed Romanian ex–special forces soldier hired by my brothers to keep a close eye on me.
He’s supposed to guard me.
Watch me.
But he doesn’t follow rules. He rewrites them.
He watches me like he’s already claimed me.
Touches me like he owns the right.
Breaks through every wall I’ve built and makes me burn just by breathing my name.
I should push him away.
I should stay in control.
But the more danger rises, the clearer it
The protecting I swore I didn’t want, is becoming the only thing I can't survive without.
Killaney Fire is Book 2 of The Killaney Irish Mafia Series. Can be read as a standalone, but the full experience starts with Book 1. Guaranteed HEA.

Welcome, dark romance lovers. I'm Gabriella Blackrose, and I write steamy, high-stakes mafia romances set in an interconnected world. My books are filled with morally gray men who would burn down a city for the woman they love and the fierce, complicated heroines who challenge them at every turn.
If you crave obsession, forbidden tension, touch-her-and-die protectiveness, and slow-burn danger that explodes into heat, you're in the right place.
Fair warning: these stories might ruin you for nice fictional boyfriends forever, but honestly, isn't that half the fun? 😂
When I'm not writing, I'm chatting with readers, untangling new betrayals, and expanding the world where my mafia families rise.
So. This one was imho better than book one. Plot, pacing and the MCs. Overall just more interesting.
I really liked the MMC. He's a big reason I kept reading even when little things began to chip at my enjoyment.
The FMC was the typical run of the mill young woman who fought to be seen as an equal with her brothers while throwing tantrums, acting too stubborn, defiant and reactive for her own good when she didn't get her way. Thus proving she wasn't the supposed mature equal she kept arguing she was. Sigh.
Anyway, early on I wanted to smack her and I almost quit because in the opening chapters she's told she's getting a bodyguard if she's gonna try and get closer to whoever is involved with the Morrigan bad guys. Then proceeded to yell, argue, be disrespectful and then storm out because she didn't get her way. While then declaring she was gonna make this bodyguards job a nightmare and more difficult than it had to be. Which she told straight to the MMCs face when they first met too. Then carried on with being difficult and being rude and acting childish.
Like spare me with that weak ass watered down imitation of a woman trying to be independent and an equal yet acting childish and emotional when she can't even act how she claims to be.
So, I didn't like the FMC. She had a few moments where I didn't mind her but mostly my general opinion was trashed after those opening interactions with her brothers. It didn't improve when she continuously argued about being told what she shouldn't do by her brothers or even the MMC who's entire purpose was to keep her safe and alive. But God forbid she have to be told no or take orders. Honestly if she had been harmed more in this story it would've been her own damn fault. Her twin nearly died in book one because of these people yet she's really stood there yelling with her whole ass chest that she didn't need protection or a babysitter that she could handle everything on her own. What a dumbass.
The bad guy plot was fascinating and really about the only truly interesting aspect for me of this series. I'm still not entirely sold on this authors writing style. While this one felt like it had a bit more emotional depth than book ones non-existent depth I didn't quite feel as connected with any of the characters or what they went through.
I also didn't appreciate that at one point the FMC tells the MMC her age and she referred to herself as a "twenty-five year old girl" which was gross. You're not a girl, you're a woman and if you're demanding equality from your brothers and sexing up your bodyguard please don't call yourself a girl. 😬
And again with no birth control being used at all and no discussion happening before or after the fact. It eventually was discussed before they boned a second time so at least there's that but still. I was half expecting her to be knocked up by the end like the first books FMC. 🙄😂
I might try the third book but the blurb just doesn't do anything for me sooo..
This book has good characters, even the ones with a small part to play. The first in the series is a little refreshing for a mafia book,it has a different experience, where most have the same story line that one is different. Both books were good to read with the exception of the the brother's and sister keep saying they need to work together without holding any info back. But, in both these books they hold information back saying they'll wait for more in case it's nothing. All in all both books were pretty good for a lazy day of reading.
While I completely understand that this series is interconnected and the overall story furthers with each book it is still frustrating not to have closure. It is also frustrating that we do not get a future glimpse of the MCs future HEA
