There are bees in my blood. I feel them buzzing, stinging, filling me with nectar until I can’t stop laughing.

Dylan Marrow says she’s my doctor, but she straps me down, cuts me open, and licks me clean. She feeds me honey and blood, calls me sunshine, and makes me drip until I’m nothing but her hive.

Every sting makes me wetter. Every cut makes me hers. And I love it.

We fuck in restraints. We carve bees into skin. We burn everything behind us.

I’m her Yellowjacket. Her honeyrot. Her little stinger.
And together we’ll swarm this asylum until it screams.

A sapphic dark erotic horror novella. Buzzing, bloody, and not for the faint of heart.

It’s time for another Wellard Asylum Review and it is from none other than Melissa McSherry’s Yellowjacket.

Now this book was one heck of a ride. I never thought that bees and honey could be used in such ways. But like only Melissa can do, she made it work. Was it sometimes extremely over the top with the BUZZING.. and Honey this and Queen that? Yes. Sadly, that is one reason why I didn’t give this book 5 stars. I know Capri is a very deranged, sick and twisted individual so I can understand the repetitive nature/comments of her character, but I do think it could have been a lot less and just as amazing without it being in every other sentence 🙃

One of my favorite parts? Johnny. The one character that literally only has a cameo/one chapter in this book and it’s one of my favorite parts haha. And then the 3some scene??? OMG. So so good and S.P.I.C.Y. 🥵

This book was very entertaining and did pull me in and if you are looking for a different and weird book that makes you never look at bees and honey the same way again, this would be it 💋🖤

I can't take this book seriously bruh. The heroine was the dumbest I've ever met. Like.. to create a dumb fmc, apparently it's not enough to make her repeat the same shit over and over. No, you also need..

Bees.

Unexpected innit. Well that's Capri for you. Instead of forming normal expressions she replaced everything with shit like..

Buzz buzz buzz.
Buzz buzz.
Buzz.

Capri, every time you said buzz, I would close my eyes, inhale deeply and think... she's the most annoying little bitch.

Here see for yourself:

🔪 Buzz.

🔪 The buzzing never really stops, but today it’s sharp.

🔪 Today it fucking stings.

🔪 Buzz buzz buzz.

🔪 My hand slips into my apron pocket. The knife is small, but bees don’t need to be big to cause damage.

🔪 The buzzing drowns everything else out, and I sting like a good little bee.
The blade goes into his belly easy, like butter softening in the sun.

🔪 In my head, the bees scream in triumph.
I giggle. “Bad Dan,” I whisper, twisting. “Stealing from the hive.”

🔪 “Buzz!” I shriek, blade sliding between his ribs. “Sting!” I laugh, blood spraying warm across my cheek. "Buzz! Sting! Buzz!"

🔪 “They said you’d be sweet.” I giggle. “The bees, in my head.”

🔪 “Buzz, buzz, buzz,” I moan frantically, rolling faster, harder. “Good bee. Sweet sting. Fuck—sting me again, more, more, more.”

🔪 “Buzz buzz buzz,” I sing, spinning. “Hey, piggy piggy. Can you catch me? Try. Try. I wanna see you catch me!”

🔪 “Buzzkill much? Poor sugar, stuck in a hive you hate,” I purr coyly.

🔪 I hiccup, a little delighted hiccup, and the whole corridor does a somersault—lights drip honey, vents go BUZZ, BUZZ, the kind of orchestra that makes you want to dance on a table. BUZZ-buzz-BUZZ.

🔪 “Starved,” I sing, flicking my tongue like I’m tasting manuka honey. “Now be a good Bumble and make me buzz.”

🔪 “Buzz buzz, Doc! I told ’em! Bees in the walls, bees in my veins, bees in my—”

🔪 “Dripping honey, nectar, gold—just for you, Doctor.”

🔪 “Queen!” she howls at me, voice shredding with manic joy. “Look. Look. I did good! I protected the hive! Buzz buzz buzz!”

🔪 “Oh—fuck—buzzbuzzbuzz,” I shriek, hips kicking, bees clawing through every vein. “Good bee—good—queen—I’m your hive—I’m—”

🔪 “Yes,” I sob, manic, high. “Fill me, please, fill me, I’ll drown the hive with my nectar. I’ll drown it for you—”

🔪 “Yes. Yes. Buzz. Buzz. Oh fuck, fuck me. Fuck me. Fuck me. So good.”

'Nuff said.

Well, colour me intrigued!

Capri aka little bee, finds herself at Wellard Asylum after deleting one of her colleagues. Her persona takes on that of a bee, her hive buzzing constantly within the hexagonal cells she finds solace. Diagnosed with nymphomania amongst others, her doctor Dylan finds her tantalising needing further investigation, she ensures that Capri becomes hers.

𝙶𝚘𝚕𝚍 𝚐𝚕𝚘𝚠𝚜 𝚒𝚗𝚜𝚒𝚍𝚎 𝚒𝚝 𝚕𝚒𝚔𝚎 𝚊 𝚝𝚛𝚊𝚙𝚙𝚎𝚍 𝚜𝚞𝚗, 𝚕𝚒𝚚𝚞𝚒𝚍 𝚕𝚒𝚐𝚑𝚝 𝚚𝚞𝚒𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚝𝚘 𝚐𝚎𝚝 𝚘𝚞𝚝.

There is so much packed into this story, that you need to read it for yourselves 😉 It flows through like a song, the buzzing of slight rhythm, with a sapphic influence until the end and therein lies the intrigue. Melissa has a way with her words that you don’t want this story to end.

I wasn't really sure if I was going to end up liking this one or not. The constant "buzz buzz" and other lines were over done and I get she's supposed to be cray cray...but still.

By time you get to the end and find out why it kind of leaves you wanting a little more. I know this author was "late" getting on this project as she replaced the previous authors slot but some of the story could have been removed to sturdy up the ending.

Overall though I did highly enjoy this and I'm dreading saying goodbye to Wellard Asylum

It is mind boggling how Melissa made me feel genuine empathy for Capri. But here we are… just in my feelings cause the girl is just misunderstood.. severely

It’s not lost on me, how the reader would get caught up in the peculiar behavior of this Wellard patient because the thing with the bees was out there for sure.

I’m forever a changed person when it comes to bees.

But there was something about her condition that made me feel a sense of vulnerability and again I know it to be odd to say for an erotic horror but it is my truth.

But no worries, did I find my inner morbid side … fuck yes I did and lived vicariously through my homeboy Johnny.

He never disappoints.

I am curious to see how my other fellow Wellard readers feel about the MIND BLOWING ending.

What the what ?!!!!

Contemplating the number of copies I want of this book… at least 3 … lmao

Not me over here, scrambling through her other books listed, reading the author note and all of the reviews trying to determine if there's another book coming or other books already featuring some of these characters 😅

I take that as a "yes and more please" reaction to this book.

Every time I start a Wellard Asylum book, I honestly don't know what to expect and rarely end up assuming correctly. This story was no exception.

I knew it was sapphic but beyond that, I never imagined how dark and twisted it would get.

Capri was described perfectly. Her apparent psychosis and fixation with bees was morbidly fascinating and believable. At times, the incessant buzzing was nearly enough to make myself go mad but it was the key part to really hammering home the mental state. I totally believed she was completely unhinged and bonkers.

Dylan, her Dr, had one milky, blind eye that seemed to really help develop her own character into something quite sinister. Her clinical need to possess and dismantle her subjects made her a curiosity and made me, in turn, a hungry spectator.

This book also featured a crossover with another character from Atrocity. Johnny makes cameo appearances in a couple of the other books as well. He is also the catalyst to a FMF scene, which was truly devious and delightful.

The ending is what left me with questions. It was a total shock and not at all what I expected. I really hope there will be another book to continue the story that was unfolding.

💛🐝 Yellowjacket by Melissa McSherry 🐝💛

Rating: 5/5

My Thoughts:

I don’t even know where to start except holy hell, Melissa. Yellowjacket crawled under my skin and made itself at home. It’s sticky, bloody, and beautiful in the most deranged way possible. The moment I stepped back into Wellard Asylum, it felt like coming home to the chaos. This world is pure nightmare honey sweet, sharp, and searing all at once.

What Stuck Out:

The writing buzzes literally. Every sentence hums with tension and seduction, dripping with that signature McSherry madness. Dylan and Capri’s dynamic? It’s dominance and devotion wrapped in honey-coated violence. The blend of horror and eroticism is unreal each scene feels like a fever dream stitched together with blood and sugar. The sensory detail makes you feel the sting, the sweetness, the slow unraveling.

Favorite Lines:

“Good girl. Give me your nectar. Cum for your queen. I want every fucking drop.”

“The knife is small, but bees don’t need to be big to cause damage. Stingers just need to land in the right spot, at the right time.”

Tell me why these lines have me feral. The way Melissa balances power and pleasure, pain and worship it’s masterful. Every sting hits exactly where it’s meant to.

Final Thoughts:

Yellowjacket isn’t just a story it’s an experience. It’s sapphic, sinister, and so seductively dark that you almost feel wrong for loving it (this is Wellard though, so it feels right). It’s a fever dream for those of us who crave the feral, the forbidden, and the beautifully grotesque. 5/5 because Melissa McSherry is the queen bee of dark erotic horror, and we are all her little stingers.

Ten outta ten, loved it, amazing! I highly recommend checking this book out!

Capri was such a funny character. She made me laugh multiple times and I loved her bee talk and how she saw bees, honey, etc everywhere. I liked the dynamic between her and Dylan. The treatments Dylan gave her were interesting.

And of course I loved seeing more of my favorite clown, Johnny. His commentary always makes me laugh and I just love him as a character. Loved how he and Capri seemed to really understand each other.

I’m glad I wasn’t eating anything while reading and it’s probably a good thing I’m a vegetarian, because that cooking part was almost too much for me lol

The ending!!! It was something I truly didn’t see coming. Evil cliffhanger, but I love it and I’m so excited to read more! Can’t wait!!

Please check the TW/CW before reading! This book is DARK and your mental health matters.

“Filthy little bee. What are you buzzing for, huh? Got nectar to spill?”
“I can do this nice. Or we can do this Capri-style.”
“Buzz for me! Buzz for the hive! Buzz for the queen!”

This book is unhinged in the best way and I couldn’t stop reading. Johnny Cutter’s cameo? ICONIC as per usual. Capri? A menace in the best possible way.

Yellowjacket has taken up residence in my brain and is now holding a rave with blood, honey, and unmedicated chaos.

I finished this book and immediately questioned my life choices, my sanity, and whether I should be worried about the buzzing I now hear in the walls. Spoiler: it’s probably just Capri whispering, ““Buzz for me!”. “Buzz for the hive! Buzz for the queen!”

This book was unhinged, sticky, and absolutely feral in the best way. Capri? Unstable. Dylan? Worse. Me? Clapping like a deranged seal and whispering, “Yes, my queen.”

I will never look at bees, honey, or meat pies the same way again. (If you’ve read it, you know. If you haven’t… good luck, sweetheart 🐝).

Johnny popped in again, being his usual delightful brand of batshit, and honestly? I’d follow him into any asylum. Capri’s bee obsession was both horrifying and weirdly poetic like if Winnie the Pooh dropped acid and started a blood cult.

When Dylan purred, “My bee. My dripping, ruined fucking yellowjacket,” 🫣 I nearly dropped my Kindle straight into a jar of honey (yes a very large jar).

THAT ENDING THOUGH!!! 🤯 By the end, I was staring at my wall wondering if I’d just hallucinated the whole thing. But no, it was real. Too real.

If you like your horror erotic, your sapphics unhinged, and your metaphors sticky Yellowjacket will sting you in places you didn’t know existed.

10/10 bees. Would buzz again. Might need therapy.

Capri
Locked away after unaliving her coworker who was a threat to the hive, she earned herself a one way ticket to Wellard asylum. Capri is fixated on bees and making sure the worker bees keep the hive safe. The second she steps into Wellard she comes face to face with the Queen Bee and Capri will do everything her Queen asks of her.

“Yes, that’s it, my little stinger. Pour it out. Drench my hand, flood my mouth. You were made for this.”

Dylan
The Queen Bee of this ward is none other than Dr Dylan Marrow. Working in Wellard is not for the weak, it takes a certain type of person to match a patients level of crazy and Dylan is no exception. She picks her toys, she plays with her favorites, and once they are broken they are discarded of. A broken toy can always be replaced by a shiny new toy.

I haven’t ready many sapphic stories but Melissa Mcsherry knows how to write one! I devoured this book. From the beginning Capri caught my attention and never let go. Her personality was hectic and I loved it. It wouldn’t be Wellard without cameos from the resident clown aka Johnny! I absolutely loved every scene with Johnny in it, he added an extra buzz to the story.

I enjoyed Dr Marrow and I can’t say that about many of the doctors that work at Wellard. Her methods are definitely outside the box and caused quite a sting. That ending though!! I absolutely loved this book and everything about it.

🐝 Buzz, buzz… down the hive hole we go 🐝

“𝗠𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗲. 𝗠𝘆 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗿𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝘂𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗷𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁.”

📘Yellowjacket by Melissa McSherry
|| @melissamcauthor

Yellowjacket had me feeling like I licked a honeycomb laced with LSD while Mel buzzed bee facts into my ear and threatened to sting anyone who looked at her funny. Every single character in this book talks like they escaped a bee-themed cult and honestly? I’d join. Hand me the honey I'm ready for the hive. 🍯

“𝙂𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙜𝙞𝙧𝙡. 𝙂𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙢𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙣𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙖𝙧. 𝘾𝙪𝙢 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙚𝙣. 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙛𝙪𝙘𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙙𝙧𝙤𝙥.”

It’s dark. It’s funny. It’s deranged. It’s spicy. It has Johnny Cutter. It’s everything I didn’t know I needed in a bee horror erotica fever dream.

Capri is the buzzing embodiment of chaos, and every page felt like she was whispering in my ear: buzz, buzz, baby buzz buzz

“𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗮 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻’, 𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆𝗰𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀. 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝘀? 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻’ 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲? ’𝗖𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗜 𝗵𝘂𝗺 𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿.”

The entire time I was reading, I felt like Alice on a honey high, falling through a golden, gooey Wonderland where Dr. Dylan Marrow reigns supreme as her Queen, and sticky, seductive Johnny Cutter is the perfect kind of drone 😏 that leaves you  buzzing for more.
“𝙏𝙚𝙣 𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙩𝙖 𝙩𝙚𝙣, 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙯𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣.”

If you don’t feel like you got a contact high from the words on these pages, like your brain just wandered through a psychotic, bee-filled Wonderland
Read it again. 🐝

“For every little stinger who wanted her madness kissed instead of cured.”

Buzz on over to YellowJacket if you want a sapphic e r o t i c horror book that’s sweet as honey if you don’t mind all the insanity in the air. This book follows Capri, a Wellard asylum patient that is dedicated to her hive, and Dr Dylan the only one who could really understand and help save Capri.

“Capri is worth keeping. She’s chaos wrapped in a laugh, delirium in a pretty little body, obedience hidden in mania.”

The doctor patient part of this book was so deliciously taboo. I couldn’t get enough. Yall this is a wild ride and Capri leaves a sticky mess everywhere she goes.

“I’m obsessed, little bee. You’re pure fucking honey—sticky, and dangerous. A fucking delicacy.”

Dr Dylan even enlists some reinforcement so we get a Johnny Cutter cross over and it was everything.

“Well shit, that was fun,” Johnny croaks, boyish, and a little unhinged with awe. “Ten outta ten, would get institutionalized again.”

Yellowjacket is a Wellard Asylum delicacy that I really think you need to indulge in. See what the buzz is all about.

The beginning had me giggling when Capri was calling the cops and what she called them. All the doctors so far have been crazy and mess with their patients. Dr Marrow really enjoyed Capri being checked in. I was shocked to find out what happened to people that no longer pliable to her. Especially shocked at what the patients were being fed at the asylum. I was curious how Johnny was going to fit into Dr. Marrows plans but did not see what he did to Katie coming. The scene when Capri had a tube of bees and where she put it. Good thing it didn't break. Capri is really into bees, acting like a bee and acting like she's part of a hive. I couldn't believe where Dylan put the bee when she had Capri tied down. Capri was crazy enough to enjoy it. When the bee got loose I couldn't wait to see how Capri reacted. She definitely did not disappoint. This left you wanting to know more a out Raiden. I wanted to see how Capri was planning on getting out. This was a really good read that has you engrossed through the whole story.

🐝 ARC REVIEW 🐝

Oh my was this unhinged and so much fun 😜..

Melissa, you absolute villain. How dare you write a book that makes me pause, clutch my chest, and seriously wonder if I, too, have a deeply misunderstood, emotionally valid connection to a patient who should absolutely be institutionalized? I came into this book expecting a fun, peculiar thriller, and now I’m having an existential crisis about the definition of "unhinged."

And it all comes down to Capri. She is the human equivalent of a beautifully wrapped package containing a live grenade, and yet, I root for her. The genuine empathy you manage to twist out of the reader is mind-boggling. She's not just "troubled"; she’s got a personality that defies sanity, yet every single peculiar tic and dark confession somehow makes perfect, heartbreaking sense. Melissa doesn’t just make her misunderstood; she makes her severely misunderstood—like a diamond hidden under ten layers of glorious psychological debris.

Thank you for allowing me to read and Review 🥰🥰

Buzz...buzz...kill

4 1\2
Nearing our series conclusion...with 3 books left in the Wellard Asylum series, we have YellowJacket; pure Crazy. We start out unbelievably strong, unfiltered and unhinged. "She's chaos wrapped in a laugh, delirium in a pretty body, obedience hidden in mania" Our doctor views our patient as her new shiny toy, she wants to see break. Possession, curiosity, and jealousy become all consuming for our Doctor. Our chaotic little buzzing bee , just fits on it and keeps on buzzing, and buzzing, and buzzing, etc. While it was extremely interesting and stayed on point and in theme throughout the novella, it did get repetitive. The ending here; just kind of smacks you in the face a bit. This reveal should kind of had a little bit more to it. I'm hoping that at the end of this series, all of the slightly open ended stories get a conclusion. This one was still well done with the short amount of time this author had to put this together.

10 outta 10 recommend again and again. I have loved each and every book in the Wellard Asylum Series and YellowJacket is insanely fantastic. Oh and I do mean insane on so many levels. Capri is a phenomenal character with so many unforeseen layers. She made me feel uneasy and angsty yet also had me laughing. Nothing could have made me happier than having my favorite morally black chaotic clown appear in the most sinfully depraved of ways. He and Capri definitely had a special dynamic and I could feel his darkness, see his sinister smile and it made me giddy. Dylan‘s powerful dominant presence and the way she takes charge of Johnny is oh so hot. As the queen, Dylan has this level of sexy depravity that surpasses her patients and enhances the chaos. The ending was completely unexpected and absolutely exhilarating. Buzz Buzz. YellowJacket is not for the faint of heart but is definitely for me and per usual has me questioning morals and any sane thoughts.

this was something else. I loved every second of it and that ending still has me reeling. WHAT THE FUCK?! This book was so freaking good. I have always loved Melissa’s books but this?

This book was phenomenal and kept me going for more. More bees. More honey. More everything. This book is so unhinged! And amazing in its own way and I can’t wait for what ever comes next for this author.

Yellowjacket is a wild trip but in the best way!
The inside of Capri’s brain is manic and jumbled. She is completely unhinged from the moment we meet her and she just keeps getting crazier.

Dr. Dylan is much more composed. She is cold, calm and calculated. Dylan is in complete control over the asylum and she knows that she’s the Queen Bee.

I also loved seeing Johnny of course. The scene with the three of them was hottttt.

The ending really shocked me! I wasn’t sure how it was going to end, but I wasn’t expecting what happened. I’m definitely looking forward to whatever comes next!

Crazy, unhinged, captivating and erotic horror are all words I would use to describe YellowJacket. Like every other Melissa McSherry book, I could not put it down and easily finished within a day.

Capri is like a beehive where there are so many layers to her. She sent me through so many different emotions I got whiplash from laughing to anxiety to straight up what the heck. Dylan is HOT! The way she took control especially of Johnny OMG. And yes, that Johnny from Melissa's other series. He's usually the man in charge but Dylan was the dominate one this time.

Will I ever look at another bee the same again? Nope! I will forever think of this book and Capri when I see bees now and there are zero complaints about that! Please check trigger warnings prior to reading though. There are some dark topics/triggers.

First and foremost, I absolutely loved seeing my favorite clown again in this book! The hold Johnny has on me is incredibly tight. I really enjoyed the interactions he had with Capri and Dylan!

I really liked the dynamic between our FMC's Capri and Dylan - it was very interesting. They are both wild, unhinged, and definitely crazy! Capri had me giggling the entire book. Their story is dark, twisted, and very very spicy!

Yellowjacket is full of tension, seduction, dominance, and devotion. It is an extremely dark, unhinged, sapphic romance, and I loved every second! Melissa is a fantastic storyteller with such unique ideas and I'm so excited to see what she gives us next!

* Yellowjacket is VERY dark! Please please please check your tw's/cw's - your mental health matters 🖤
