I haven’t seen Ellie Michaelson in thirteen years. But after running into my childhood best friend at my teammates’ bachelor party, we reconnect.

Soon I discover her secret: she’s chronically ill and in tons of debt.

I offer to marry her so she can use my health insurance to get the care she needs. We agree to divorce after a year, then go back to being just friends.

But then she drops a bombshell on me: she still has her V-card…and she wants me to take it.

I should say no. Ellie is an innocent good girl. I’m a playboy who treats hooking up like a sport.

But I can’t deny my beautiful best friend.

Soon I’m teaching this good girl all the dirty things she’s ever wanted to learn.

I tell myself it’s just a deal between friends, nothing more. But the more time I spend with Ellie, the harder I fall for her.

Suddenly this fake marriage feels very real…and I don’t want it to end.

ARC review for So Pucking Good by Sarah Smith

Thanks to Sarah for the ARC opportunity!

What to expect: sports romance, marriage of convenience, virgin FMC, childhood friends to lovers, reformed playboy, spice lessons, chronic illness rep, found family

TW/CW: chronic illness rep, health insurance insecurity, attempted blackmail by ex,

Review: 3/5

Last book of the Denver Bashers. Let's talk about it.

Things I liked:
- As with all the Bashers books, the found family vibes are strong (maybe a little too strong? More on that later). I always love a good family and seeing the characters we've come to love within the world.
- I've enjoyed golden retriever Cam in the last few books so it was nice getting his full story and seeing him take center stage.

Things I disliked or missed the mark:
- It felt like too much and yet, not enough, all at the same time. It was very repetitive in that Ellie and Cam's chapters were pretty much the same, just flipping POVs. Each of them were thinking the same things at the same time but were unwilling to bring it up and have conversations about it. And that just made it drag.
- As I've said, I love the world and revisiting characters we love. But there was SO much of them. Every other chapter we were at someone else's wedding. It was like the engagement parties from the last book. Like, if you need to bring the whole crew together, find other ways to do it. The constant weddings also made it repetitive and made it drag.
- All of that stuff made the book entirely too long. For how quickly Cam and Ellie get together, there's way too much extra story where nothing happens.
- The books are also pretty repetitive. There are some lines and phrases that I swear are in every book of the series, haha. And did you know Sophie is a genius and that everyone has been so kind and welcoming? I like the books, don't get me wrong, but the writing could use a little finessing.

Overall, I was a little let down with Cam and Ellie's story. For a book about them, there wasn't a lot of them alone outside of the sexy times and I would have loved to get to know them better.

The Denver Bashers series has brought me so much joy, and although I'm sad to see it come to an end, Camden and Ellie's story was a great way to end it. They were childhood friends, and when they meet up again, Camden suggests that they get married so he can help Ellie with her medical debt and insurance costs. Ellie has a chronic illness, which causes her to have food allergies and she has accumulated debt. When she marries Camden, he takes care of her debt, and he loves to spend money on her.

He has always been a bad boy in the hockey world, and he wants the chance to show that he can be responsible enough to be an assistant captain on his team. By marrying Ellie, he shows that he is done with being a guy who has one night stands and loves to party. She is a good girl, and she wants Camden to give her spice lessons. She is a virgin, and she wants him to show her how she should be treated. He agrees, and things get spicy! He shows her how to use toys too, and he loves to use dirty talk with Ellie.

Camden will do anything to make Ellie happy, and he falls hard for her. There is no third act breakup, and their marriage of convenience turns into a marriage of love. He loves to call Ellie his wife, and their relationship is so sweet.

If you're a fan of this series, you will love seeing so many of the couples get married in this book. The found family element is so important to this series, and seeing all of the couples find their happily ever after was such a satisfying end to the Denver Basher series.

Thanks to the author, Sarah Smith, for an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

This childhood friends to lovers marriage of convenience hockey romance might be my favorite book in Sarah Smith’s Denver Bashers series. I know I’ve said that about almost every book in this series but this time I mean it because I can relate to the FMC Ellie having a chronic illness and symptoms and not being able to get the medical care and medicine she needs to treat it due to her insurance. I could completely understand Camden being infuriated with the way she has been treated and wanting to help her and make her life easier. I also enjoyed their spicy lessons and reading about the found family of the hockey team and their significant others again. Thank you to author Sarah Smith for the opportunity to read this early!

It felt like Ellie and Camden’s story got a little lost. This book felt less about the main couple and more about the group of friends as a whole. I didn’t like how everyone got married in this book, it was the only thing that happened and it got boring quite quickly.

I have loved this series but I’m super sad with how this book turned out. I don’t think Camden and Ellie’s connection was explored properly because of the lack of time they actually spent one on one. This whole book felt like a way to tie up all the other characters storylines.

I did enjoy that it was childhood friends to lovers and I loved the way they met each other again after all those years but I just needed more of Ellie and Camden and less of everyone else.

Thank you to Sarah for the ARC.

Ellie (FMC) and Camden (MMC) are so cute together, and I think this book is the perfect ending to the Denver Bashers series. I feel like we don’t see the golden retriever and sunshine pairing often, but I love it and want to see move of it in the future. These two are just a joy together, there is little conflict in their relationship aside from the obvious (what’s going to happen when their agreed-upon year of marriage comes to an end) and if you are looking for a low angst and low stakes hockey romance this is a good one to pick up.

The MCs reconnect after years apart when he thinks he booked a stripper for his teammate’s bachelor party, but he accidentally booked a party princess instead and she knocks on the door ready to be the entertainment for a child’s birthday party. They realize the mistake instantly, laugh it off, spend some time together, and go their separate ways. When he sees her, days later, struggling to get her medication filled because her insurance coverage changed and she can’t afford the prescription, he proposes that they get married so that she can get on his insurance and he will be taken more seriously. They were best friends as kids, and each other’s first crush, but Camden will never fall in love after seeing his parents’ disaster of a marriage and Ellie just got out of a really terrible relationship. They will never develop real feelings…right?

I like how Ellie’s chronic illness and allergies are represented. There is a bit of commentary about how much health insurance sucks in the US, and we see her navigate her daily life and what she has to deal with. Camden was definitely a playboy before Ellie came back into his life and he realized that she is it for him. That said, there is more drama with her ex than there is with his past, and they actually communicate even when it’s difficult. The spicy coaching aspect is perfect, mainly because it isn’t super rushed. They definitely do all the things, but he takes his time and makes sure she is really ready before moving on to the next thing. She sets the pace and the rules and he is just happy to be there with her and that she trusts him (as it should be).

This is your classic childhood friends to lovers storyline that quickly becomes a marriage of convenience. These two had chance encounter which brought them back into each other's orbit and another that gave them the reasons needed to proceed with a "fake" marriage. He's against the construct as a whole due to his parents' relationship, she's wholly innocent in most relationship matters.

You've heard my annoyance with the "fake" marriage trope - because they are actually, legally married. They would need to divorce to end the relationship. It's real. Anyway, enough of that rant. These two had crushes on each other as children and the heat between them as adults was very hot. This was One Good Puck 2.0. Instead of engagement parties, they frequented weddings.

I very much enjoyed their story. Camden was a big fan of using "My Wife" just in casual conversation. I believe in my kindle it was repeated 52 times. I love a good my wife-ing. The possessiveness was great. There was great representation for chronic illness and just how difficult dealing with the Healthcare System is. The story was sweet and a great addition to the series. There was a bit of instalove that made it a bit hard to believe, but due to their history -- it made the story plausible. A huge plus that there wasn't a third act break up. This story did not need it. There was enough conflict without breaking this couple up. Give this one a read, it was such a fun read.

Sarah knows exactly how to deliver the best smutty hockey romance books, and Camden’s story is no exception. This book was absolutely worth the wait the perfect, heartfelt, and satisfying end to the series. Camden completely stole my heart. He’s sweet, gentle, protective, and so much more than the fun, lighthearted persona we’ve seen before. Getting to see the depth behind his character made me fall for him even harder.

Ellie was such a standout. She’s incredibly relatable for anyone living with a chronic illness, and her strength, resilience, and vulnerability made her one of the most compelling FMCs in the series. What she’s been through is heartbreaking, but the way she continues to show up with softness and courage is beautiful.

Camden and Ellie together? Pure perfection. Their relationship is tender, patient, funny, and full of genuine warmth. The friendship underneath their romance made everything feel so natural and earned. Every moment between them was comforting, intimate, and so full of heart.

This series completely consumed me and I’m going to miss these characters so much but I have a feeling something amazing is coming next. And can we just take a moment to appreciate how these men are truly the BEST men? Loyal, protective, sexy, and full of heart.

Tropes included:
🏒 Marriage of convenience

🏒 Sunshine FMC
🏒 Spice coaching
🏒 Chronic illness representation
🏒 Bad boy / good girl
🏒 Dirty talk

If you’ve loved this series from the start, this finale will leave your heart full. A beautiful ending to a beautiful journey.

Such a sweet love story!

Two childhood friends meets again after several years of lost contact, and they just pick up where they left off. Ellie is suffering from a chronical illness and have issues with her health insurance, Camden has a very good insurance due to his hockey carrier. Because camden doesnt want to see Ellie suffer, he suggest they get married so she can get the help she needs. A marriage of convience, but we all know how they end right?

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars, it just love the Denver Basher series and it was so awsome to read Camdens story! I got to see a different side of him, a golden retriever that sure knows how to attack if his loved ones are threatened. and Ellie is such a sweetheart, my heart breaks for how her life has been, and i love how easy the gang welcomes her💕
The book is easy to read, and to follow. I aleays enjoy reading Sara Smith romcoms, they are so warm and funny and spicy! it has everything i want in a lovely package of easy going attitude with a plot and lots of love and friendship.
it's sad to see the basher series end, they will always have a special place in my heart. but I am so excited to read the next hockey serie, the Hollis U series that starts out with Rykers brother Nick!

I recommend this book (and the entire standalone series) to anyone who enjoys romcom! You dont even have to like hockey in real life to like this series, i have zero interest in hockey in real life😁but this is one of the best hockey series i have read💕

Who knew Connors had it in him to settle down. Having his childhood friend waltz back into his life unexpectedly, old feelings that both he and Ellie had when they were younger resurface, but ultimately it starts because he realizes that Ellie’s having issues with her insurance. I would write literal pages on how terrible insurance is, but I’ll save it. They originally marry so she can have proper insurance, but it doesn’t take long for their relationship to flourish into something real. Watching how Camden not only helps his childhood friend with her health, but also takes advice from Coach Porter and blossoms in making sure that he is a leader on and off the ice, he’s not even the same person by the end of the book he grows so much. It is truly amazing character growth to see from Camden.
Things take a twist when Ellie’s ex tries to screw everything up, spreading false information to the press. This just allows for both groups of players and fiancés/wives to come in closer to protect both Camden and Ellie.
This book was the perfect one to wrap up the Basher’s series, though I’m bummed it has come to an end. I am, however, excited to see where Sarah takes us with her next series.

This one, what it says on the tin- So Pucking Good!! We have come to the end of the Bashers series and Sarah has led us out with one lash hurrah with Camden and Ellie's story. So SO hot! A brilliant story full of marriages and trust me, a lot of weddings happen in this book - its a feel good factor to round up the HEAs of this team of gorgeous friends who all have each others back. Camden and Ellie are childhood best friends who reconnect after 13 years and enter a marriage of convenience for various reasons that benefit each other, but of course neither know that they both harbour crushes on each other since childhood and faking it soon turns into some spicy bedroom fun, lessons included. Beautiful to watch Ellie come into her own and grow in confidence to the gorgeous woman that she is and to see the reformed playboy Camden fall to his knees for her. Some drama with an Ex, but Camden has that all under control - cue swooning!
Sad for the series to end, I have loved each and every one of these books, the guys, the gals, the camaraderie and of course, all the banter.

Camden was so cute, he’s so sweet and kind and caring and there was so much more to him than his fun side. Denver Bashers Book 7!

Okay everyone after me, Camden Connors is an absolute treasure!

This installment of the Denver Bashers series follows Camden, after a mishap booking he runs into his childhood best friend Ellie, he realises very quickly that he still has a crush on her, and when he finds out that she can't get the meds she needs, well there's only one solution, they need to get married.

This series is truly captivating and such easy reads, if anyone is needing a new series to read this one is perfect to dive into and keep you busy for a bit!

Ellie was just the perfect woman for Camden and he was absolutely gone for her, they are one of my favourite couples from this series, it was wrapped up in the most perfect way, even with a little tease of whats coming next.

I would highly recommend this book and the entire series, For fans of Hockey Romance, Marriage of Convenience, Childhood Friends To Lovers, Golden Retriever MMC, Sunshine FMC, Spice Coaching, Bad Boy X Good Girl, and very delicious Spicy goodness.

The time has come, and we’ve reached the final book—Book 7—in the Denver Bashers series 😭

Camden Conners is the team playboy who swore he’d never settle down… until he reconnects with his childhood best friend.

Watching Camden’s story unfold was so incredible. I’ve always loved him in the previous books as the fun, wild one, but the growth he shows in this story is everything. He’s protective, sweet, ultimate “my wife” energy, and it made me melt like butter. And let’s talk about those spicy lessons… 🔥

Ellie was easy to love from the very beginning. Despite living with a chronic illness—and let’s not forget the lame ex—she is such a strong, raw, and relatable character.

I also really loved getting to see the other characters stories wrapped up in this final book. It was the perfect send-off to the series.

As always, if you’re looking for a sweet, fun, spicy, found-family romance, Sarah Smith’s Denver Bashers series is an absolute must-read. These men are all in for their girls.

Thank you so much to Sarah Smith for the gifted eARC.

So Pucking Good is… well… so good!!! Camden has been in the Denver Bashers universe for a few books now, so finally seeing his love story with Ellie was amazing. From their adorable reunion to ALL the sweet (and spicy) moments, these two truly are meant to be.

Ellie’s chronic illness plays a huge role in this story. The tenderness and care in which Camden treats it is beautiful, and I love how they use her story to uplift others with chronic illnesses and discuss the difficult situations they can often be in relating to receiving medication. Chronic illnesses are different for each person, but the representation here is so lovely to see.

I can’t believe this is the end of Sarah’s Denver Bashers series! I’ve loved all the different stories and how they tie into the hockey world itself. This book did such a lovely job of showing all those happy endings, and it made me so happy to see!

I went not this book blind having not read the previous books in the series. That did not hinder my love for this books or characters at all. After being separated for several years, Camden is reunited with his childhood best friend, Ellie. They enter into a marriage of convenience and each have things they need from the relationship. As they each discover that they have more than platonic feelings for the other, they worry what the other will think.

These two characters are adorable in their feelings for each other and the way their relationship unfolds. The situations they get themselves caught up in are hilarious and several times I laughed out loud. Most of this book takes place during the offseason so there isn’t as much actual hockey as I normally like in my sports romances, but it works for this story. I can’t wait to go back and read all the previous books to see how those character got together!

Another smash hit for Sarah Smith!! So Pucking Good is book #7 in the Dever Bashers Series and it was just as amazing as the first 6.

Camden Conners .... gahhh I love him!!! I loved seeing his growth in this book. He goes certified manwhore of the team, to sweet, sensitive, protective, wants to be taken seriously, husband to his childhood best friend Ellie. I love seeing the teddy bear side of Camden, but only when it comes to his wife, whom he'll do ANYTHING for 😍

The storyline is perfect, when you think of friends to lovers, marriage of convenience, spice coaching, "my wife" type tropes. Sarah has just enough spice to keep you blushing while you read along!

I told Sarah that I think Camden is now one of my favourite men in her series, even though I love them all!! I found myself smiling like a little kid when I read about the things he did for Ellie. You can't help but fall in love with him yourself

OH MY GOD!!!!! I ate this up!!!

Stunning, no notes. I cannot begin to tell you how good this book was. My favorite so far, but I’ve still got four more in this series to go.

Camden!!!! The man you are!!!! 🥵🥵🥵🥵

Y’all the spice was spicing in this!!!! I am still sweating over it!!

Okay so Camden & Ellie were childhood friends and have reconnected after many years apart. They fall right into their old selves as if no time has passed at all. After realizing how much Ellie struggles with insurance due to her chronic illnesses, he convinces her to marry him for his insurance. They agree to divorce after one year (but will they??)

Oh also, Sweet Little Miss Ellie convinces her best friend, now husband, to teach her all things bedroom 😉😉 and what’s a man to do? Whatever his wife wants 😍😍

Don’t walk, run to read this!!! Go ahead and read the whole damn series because you will not be disappointed!

Camden was the ultimate golden retriever hero....sweet, loyal, and those protective vibes he had for Ellie - just absolutely scorching. Yes, he may have once leaned into his playboy era, but resisting him was nearly impossible. Their second-chance meet-cute had me laughing out loud because only Camden could confuse those two websites the way he did.

Ellie was incredibly relatable, and I adored their story from start to finish. This series has given me such a strong sense of found family, and I’m truly going to miss the Denver Bashers crew. But I’m so excited to see what comes next in the Hollis University series!

Another amazing hockey romance from Sarah Smith ! Camden, the playful, fun-loving party guy, has been such a blast throughout the series, and I was so excited to dive deeper into his story. Let me just say, Camden totally won me over! He’s sweet, caring, and downright adorable when it comes to Ellie, his childhood best friend who he hasn’t seen in 13 years. That is until he accidentally hires a party princess instead of a stripper! Ellie’s a total badass, juggling a demanding job while managing her chronic illness, and I loved seeing how these two just fit together. They bring out the best in each other, face everything head-on. Camden helping Ellie get comfortable in her own skin? Heart melting. I’m super bummed to say goodbye to the Denver Bashers, but I’m so glad I got to read their stories!

Holy hell I just love this series so damn much much! The Denver Bashers was an epic journey and it ends Camden and Ellie with absolute perfection 🥰🫠

Camden accidentally hires a Disney princess instead of a stripper for his NHL teammate Batchelor party and when he realized she’s his best friend from childhood, Ellie he asks her to stay and paint their faces. Hilarious!
Bring back in each others lives Camden quickly realizes the financial trouble Ellie is in and offers to marry her to help her out. He also wants the assistant captain position and this will help him clean up his image! And omg the love between these to is palpable. As Ellie’s secrets start to unravel things between them heat up something fierce 🤤😮‍💨😏 I love Camden he’s hot and swoony and man does he prove how good he is over and over! Gaaah I’m so sad this series is over but man was it a good one 🖤🩷🖤

Book review 📚:So Pucking Good by Sarah Smith

This book was sooo pucking good 😮‍🔥 The spice was even better than I expected, and I was hooked from start to finish.

I absolutely loved Ellie and Camden’s love story childhood best friends who secretly had crushes on each other and now they’re married and completely in love? YES PLEASE 😍 Their connection felt so genuine and deep, and you could really feel how much they’ve always been meant for each other.

I hated Ellie’s ex he deserved everything that happened to him in the end. And my heart broke for Ellie dealing with insurance issues while managing her chronic illness. That part felt so real and frustrating, and it added so much depth to her character.

Spicy, emotional, and incredibly satisfying this one definitely delivered.

🏒 My wife. Best wife ever🏒

Ellie is a young woman struggling with a serious illness, expensive treatment, and insurance problems when she unexpectedly reunites with Camden, her childhood best friend. Now a handsome professional hockey player known for his playboy lifestyle, Camden proposes a fake marriage that would give Eli access to his health insurance. At the same time, he hopes the arrangement will prove to his coach and teammates that he has changed and is ready for responsibility.
What begins as a practical deal quickly turns into something far more emotional.
I love this book! Especially how obsessed Camden is with Ellie, how he keeps saying “my wife,” not to mention the “sexy lessons,” which are sooooo hot.🐕🐈

Camden is trying to prove to his coach and his team that he is Assistant Captain material. Ellie is trying to navigate the insurance system to pay for her chronic disease medicines and tests. So a fake marriage it is! And you know what happens next.

These two were really cute. Camden is such a good guy. He never treats Ellie like she or her disease are a problem. He is also very generous with Ellie if you catch my drift when she decides she wants lessons on how to make a man happy. These two are fire and the spice is spicy. Watching these two really come into their own as people and as a couple was great. I will be reading more of this author for sure. 5/5⭐️4/5🌶️

I read this too quickly to be able to cherish the end of one of my favorite hockey series. Camden and Ellie were easily one of my top couples. I just love a fake marriage to a childhood friend plot line! Not to mention, Camden's intensity and protective nature was chef's kiss. Ellie was refreshing and finally we get some realistic conversations about chronic health and crappy American insurance companies!! I adore that we got to see everyone's weddings and see how happy everyone is.

I cannot deal with this series ending. I cannot wait for us to meet the next hockey guys and continue to follow and support Sarah!

childhood friends to lovers, reformed play boy, spicy lessons, marriage of convenience, MY WIFE???? check, check and check in spades. camden connors DELIVERED. i will never miss an opportunity to arc read a denver bashers book if i can help it. following along from the beginning, it was also so sweet to finally get to see all the other couples finally getting married. the found family aspect of this team is probably one of my favourites. i love even more when they all rally around each other, even after they find out that the truth has been hidden from them. i love that ellie was finally able to find a group of friends and a partner who finally accepted her for who she is and didn’t try to diminish her chronic illness. and again, the mouth on that man 🥵

This was probably my favorite book in this series along with Coach Porter’s. Camden and Ellie were childhood friends who find each other again when Camden thinks he’s hired a stripper!

They decide to marry so Ellie has access to good medical care as she has a chronic illness and also so she can work on a business she is trying to build and not have to work so many jobs to make ends meet.

This is a fun and entertaining read with some spice along the way! 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Sadly, it’s also the last book in the Basher’s series.

I loved this book as I did every book in this series.
This book had all of my favorite tropes:

Good Girl/Reformed Player
Childhood Best Friends
Marriage of Convenience

I thought Camden was the best supporting character in the last couple of books and was thrilled that he got his own book.

Camden and Ellie’s slow burn romance was a joy to read. Camden’s evolution from a hard partier to a man that would do anything for Ellie and working so hard to earn the respect of his teammates had me rooting so hard for him. Ellie was so sweet and relatable and brought to light the struggles for so many with chronic illnesses.

This book is a must read…every book in this series is perfection!

Can’t wait for the next series!!

Playboy Camden has always been a light hearted guy in the series so getting to really dive into his story and his childhood crush Ellie was great! The meet cute in this one was amazing and how this ties into chronic illness, the struggles and helping a friend out was so well done and sweet but didn’t under sell the challenge. I really loved how this story built, how well you got to really see both Camden and Ellie and how they grew into a cute couple. Love it! Another great book from Sarah and if you haven’t read the books in this series, run don’t walk, they are superb!

I could not physically finish this book (DNF 34%). I expected her chronic illness to be more of a prominent thing but it was kind of brushed aside. Also, Camdens friends were too involved. She was obviously uncomfortable with the toys that his friend’s wives bought her and instead of agreeing he told her it was rude to throw them away. I just can’t stand it when the FMC had no backbone and can’t stand up for herself when she is uncomfortable.

I really enjoyed this book! I love a fake marriage/fake dating story and this one was so good.

Some of my favorite scenes were when our reformed
Playboy MMC is sweet, caring, and gentle for our virgin FMC. Then (if that wasn’t enough) he ALSO gets defensive and protective over her?? I swoon.
