DIY content creator Maggie Crawford has landed on a perfect way to increase her following and expand her business. The cottage she just purchased in Harmony Glen has good bones, but needs a major renovation. She can see the charm, and redoing the home is exactly the kind of content her followers love. It will be a long, sweaty undertaking, but in the end, she’ll have new skills, new viewers, and a new residence. It’s win-win.
For vulpine Gabe Duval, settling in Harmony Glen was a no-brainer. A small town that welcomes monsters? Perfect. Now the owner and operator of the town’s hardware store—and a contractor when the need arises—Gabe has settled into an easy, if somewhat staid, routine. But when a DIYer in paint-splattered overalls arrives and needs just about every tool he carries, his simple life gets turned on his head.
Maggie wants his expertise, but is hesitant to admit it. Gabe knows he can help, but refuses to butt in. As the two get to know each other, mutual caution turns to chemistry. Amidst all the drilling, nailing, and screwing, will the pair finally acknowledge the fiery feelings between them?
* * * * Though they once lived in secret, “monsters” have inhabited the earth as long as humans. As technology advanced by leaps and bounds, the ability to remain hidden dwindled. Earth’s nonhuman creatures faced a allow themselves to be discovered, or step forward and introduce themselves. Either option could have ended badly for monsters and humans alike—and in some places, it did.
But not in Harmony Glen.
After The Great Revelation, Harmony Glen welcomed monsters with open arms. This small, lakeside town in Upstate New York is now home to humans and nonhumans! Integration has been so successful in Harmony Glen, the town even changed its motto to “Come for the harmony, stay for the happily ever after.”
Welcome to Harmony Glen. We know you’re going to love it here.
Each book in the Harmony Glen multi-author series is a standalone cozy romance with a happily ever after! The books can be enjoyed in any order.
Greetings! I’m Vivienne, I have my MFA in Creative Writing, and I write all things magical and mysterious.
I’ve been writing fantastic tales since I could hold a pencil. Captivated by fairy tales from a young age, I gradually began to create my own worlds filled with fantastic creatures and monstrous beasts. Now a USA Today bestselling author, I'm still sending my characters on as many wild journeys and dark adventures as I can.
In addition to spinning a good story, my loves include chocolate, reading good books, and taking as many bubble baths as I can. When I’m not writing, you can find me roaming around the southern U.S. with my husband and two very fluffy cats. I’m the redhead in pajamas.

This book barely had a semblance of a plot. Gotta love a book in which nothing happens (honestly not sure if I’m being sarcastic here, or not).
Look. If you want a romance where the only thing that happens is the romance itself (and there’s also a lot of telling not showing, on that front, enough so that the romance itself lacks chemistry or depth and such that the story feels… very low stakes), well, then this is your book.
But if you enjoy more plot than “and then two boring people (well, a boring woman and an equally dull man who also happens to look like a fox) had sex (with decent chemistry) and they fell in love (with… very little chemistry) and they’ll live happily ever after: wow. Read this IMMEDIATELY.
Personally I think some narrative tension is good though, and if you also enjoy things like plot, character development, emotional growth that happens on the page, and romance where it makes sense that the characters wind up together… well. I’m sorry Mario but the princess is in another castle.
This book was comforting in the way that plain vanilla soft serve can be comforting. The way that canned mushroom soup can be comforting. There was very little flavour and nothing about it will wow anyone. But hey—if you like predictable, gentle fluff with zero angst: read away. This was fine. It was just fine.
Is this review mean? Yes. But I’m sorry if my patience wears thin with books where nothing happens. If you want to write PWP (which is also somehow slow burn??? Please add some plot to your slow burn romances if you’re going to drag them out this long) then stick to adding your milquetoast OCs with zero personality, on-page chemistry, or emotional depth and character arcs to fanfic.
Generous two stars because at least the prose was both coherent and tolerable and this was a rare kindle unlimited gem in that it wasn’t more typo than novel.

There were so many side plots that never went anywhere and took away from the story. Where did the cat come from and what was up with him? What about the item found in the wall? What happened with the home improvement store? The house renovation he's supposed to be helping with...is also kind of pushed to the side but somehow finished in 3 months. (Seriously, how can you finish an entire house renovation in 3 months) What exactly did he help with? These aren't spoilers cause they never go anywhere. Maggie's character was like a rabbit on crack, bouncing from one idea to the next with no real conclusion. With everything else and all the jumps in time, it felt like the main characters didn't have actual chemistry.
Liked the way Maggie and Gabe came together, fitting in to each others lives nicely. His slow realization that she maybe the one and the way the story played out that she drew him out of his self imposed shell. We don't see a lot of the relationship but it's implied they spent a lot of time together so the feelings just blossomed. Not a big fan of the nonchalant I loves you and I expected more from the fox shifter stand point since it was described 2x how they mate and get together. Overall cute story though and I appreciate there was no 3rd act breakup and no OW/OM drama.
Cute and spicy with likeable characters and a small town filled with a wide array of monsters I can't wait to get to know. Maggie is a content creator new to town fixing up an old house and meets Gabe the hardware store owner and her neighbor who steps in to help her with the reno and thus a romance is born. It was cute and spicy and I loved their love. There was representation, a cat sidekick, monster peen, he falls first, nicknames, her coming to his defense, slight jealous possessiveness and just a whole lot of cuteness. And it was low stakes. Nothing so serious I needed to stress over which is exactly what I wanted for my lunch break on a Monday!
This was ok, and cute enough. Decent pacing for a novella, utilizing month or two time skips instead of cramming an entire relationship into 100 pages. I always appreciate that approach, even tho I'm not a super big fan of time hops, at least the feelings weren't crazy rushed. (I mean, it's a novella so they were still rushed but it was at least believable-ish)
Not sure if they ever really finished the house renovation? Side plots kept being picked up and dropped with no answers ever given, but all I wanted to know was where Jasper came from.
A lot of the book, too much imo, was focused on the details of the DIY construction and projects going on. Other than that it was an ok read. Just didn’t really do it for me. Lost my interest and didn’t keep me hooked. Wanted more connection between the MMC and MFC. Nothing particular wrong with the book. Just needed more of the connection and less of the flowery details about the house she was working on fixing.
Cute book to read in between but not really a highlight. I didn’t like that they went from friends to lovers that quickly. They just agreed to be a couple and that was it. Not really that much love Story. In addition there were opened many story lines that didn’t lead anywhere and I thought that was quite sad.
Love this world. I have yet to read anything from this author that I haven’t enjoyed, though this novella/world is different in its complete coziness start to finish. This novella is simple, short, sweet, spicy, zero conflict/angst, cute, quick, pure cuddly/coziness. Perfect palette cleanser.
While reading, this story. I loved Gabe and Maggie. I hope his brother gets his own story. I was thinking Jasper wad a shifter who is stuck in animal.for and the house Maggie was fixing his family home. The comb Maggie found family heirloom that might help Jasper get unstuck.
This book surprised me I didn't think I would love it so much. Gabe and the vixen are a perfect match. She is on her own again and he is on his own d/t a hurtful past relationship. They have very good chemistry. Wait until you meet Master he is awesome! I highly recommend you read this book. You won't be disappointed I promise!
What's the best place for a DIYer? A hardware store. They met at his and their relationship grew. It didn't hurt that her cat was.playing matchmaker. Many surprises were in store as they shared their talents and got their HEA.
Very nice progression of the relationship. Although we do not see Gabe scent mark as much as I thought he would, considering that was one of the main things he said was different about him versus humans. Jasper is so cute, and I wish we saw more of him.
I enjoyed the characters and thought that Gabe and Maggie were very cute together. They were so cute together! My only complaint was the ending. It just seemed so abrupt. It felt like the ending to a chapter, not the ending to the book.
It’s a regular courtship. Male creature meets female creature, they share common interests and attraction, so they date. Add in a cozy monster town, occasional hot sex, and an uncanny cat, and you have an enjoyable way to spend an hour.
Needed a short and super sweet read like this. How they met makes sense, there’s a cute little flow going on, just the right amount of spice with dual POV. A couple grammar errors but who cares. It was fun and cozy.
Nice quick cozy read. No drama. Nice spice level. Adorable couple. Some interesting cliffhangers. Really love this universe of Harmony Glen. Highly recommend!
