Their only goal: survive final exams and walk the graduation stage. But when a string of brutal murders strikes too close to home, survival takes on a whole new meaning.
KB, AJ, MJ, and SB are suddenly thrust into a deadly mystery, where every clue points to someone they thought they could trust. With danger stalking their every move, friendship and fear collide—and the clock is ticking.
The question isn’t if they’ll graduate. It’s if they’ll live to see it.
I’m typically not a thriller person give me a cozy mystery or a historical fiction any day but wow, did this book flip the script for me. From the moment I read that opening line about the four roommates facing their final, fateful semester, I was completely hooked. The book immediately pulls you into a genuinely tense and dark academic atmosphere where KB, AJ, MJ, and SB are just trying to celebrate graduation, but instead find themselves in a race against a killer. The genius here is how real the friendship dynamics felt; the author did such a great job of making each character unique, which made the danger feel intensely personal. I was genuinely surprised to find myself on the edge of my seat, constantly trying to connect the deadly clues before the characters did. The pacing is relentless, and the murders unfolding around them maintained a gripping, constant suspense that kept me swiping pages late into the night. While I felt a few of the reveals maybe zipped by too quickly, or perhaps deserved a bit more room to breathe, the overall tension and atmosphere are phenomenal. It’s a twisty, fast-paced story that serves as a chilling reminder that sometimes the real danger isn't lurking far away it's right down the hall. Highly recommend, even if you, like me, usually skip the thriller section!
I just finished reading ESCAPE and wow — I’m still trying to catch my breath 😭💔. This book isn’t your typical love story. It’s passion mixed with pain, obsession tangled with devotion, and a storyline that keeps you turning pages at 2 a.m.
I love how it shows that love can be both healing and destructive — how far people are willing to go when emotions take control. Between the twists, the heartbreak, and the shocking moments (yes, even jail time 😩), ESCAPE had me hooked from start to finish.
If you’re looking for something intense, emotional, and unforgettable, ESCAPE is definitely the one.
ESCAPE surprised me in the best way. It’s romantic, intense, a little unhinged, and impossible to put down. Obsession, jail, murder, and love all wrapped into one gripping story. I finished it way too fast and I’m still thinking about the characters. Dark, addictive, and totally worth reading.
One lesson I’ve learnt from reading books and one that’s rarely talked about is patience.
Books are like people. Some open up to you instantly, others need time. Escape by Ogunmoroti is one of those that asks for your patience, and trust me, it’s worth it.
The reason I couldn’t drop this book wasn’t because I was immediately hooked it was because the author sent it to me directly. So, I made a commitment to read it through, even when I wasn’t “feeling it” at first.
Honestly, I didn’t fully grasp where the story was headed until I got to page 200+. That’s when it clicked. That’s when I understood the why behind the build-up.
Beyond that, what truly stood out was the bond between the four boys. The brotherhood, the loyalty even with all the challenges they faced. It was real.
And don’t get me started on the exam hall scenes. That tension added just the right edge.
If you love YA fiction with a mix of thriller vibes and real human connection, Escape deserves a spot on your shelf. And maybe, just maybe, it’ll teach you patience too.
Four roommates. Three women. One semester left. This book had a strong, gripping premise from the very first line. The author pulls you straight into a tense, dark academic world where KB, AJ, MJ, and SB are just trying to make it to graduation until everything turns deadly.
I loved the friendship dynamics and how each character brought something unique to the story. The suspense was steady, and the murders unfolding around them kept me flipping pages, trying to connect the clues before the characters did.
While a few moments felt a bit rushed or could’ve gone deeper, the overall tension and mystery carried the story well. It’s the kind of thriller that makes you double-check your door at night and question everyone’s motives.
A solid, fast-paced read with a twisty atmosphere and a reminder that sometimes the real danger is closer than you think.
Okay so about Escape. The book was really good. I really enjoyed reading even though I am not really big on Multiple POVs. I had a real hard time trying to know each characters. 1. I loved the way the Boys friendship was portrayed. Their friendship was really genuine and it gives another perspective to people wondering what men do in their friendships. Men friendship is not something people count normal especially when there are really close but this book gives a deeper connection. 2. The suspense!! Even though I knew it was I still wanted to give it a doubt that it might have been another person. Cause I could not wrap my head around why would be that person. 😭it was so bothersome to me. 3. Their sex life was portrayed in a good way😂cause what’s men without sleeping with everything under the skirt ?😂men will sleep with what kills them😭even tho I wrote that scene I couldn’t believe it 😭😂
But overall I’ll rate escape 8/10. It’s a good triller book and I can’t wait for the world to see the amazing job you did.❤️
For the ingenuity of the story, for the properly weaved plot and twists I didn't see coming, no, even the epilogue had me hanging my mouth midway in shock, for characters that would remain for a while in my memory, I salute the writer of Escape.
I read a psychological thriller and it was truly psychological. This book took me back to my uni days and I can't but smile. Lovers of thrillers would definitely enjoy this. kudos to you Moroti, you aced this👍👍.
This thrilling romance novel follows four finalist as they navigate their last years in university through exams, projects and attractions. What none of them saw coming was murder, psychotic lover and mysterious killings of their loved ones.
Escape is a gripping thriller romance with a diverse backgrounds of different Nigerian cultural heritage. The book highlights difficulties finalist mostly in federal universities face with a lot of family saga and friendship. it's a wonderful book that explores the beauty of friendship, love and psychological trauma.
I can’t begin to name all the emotions I felt when I read Escape. The list is long. But overall, I think Penelope is a crazy human being that should be in a mental health facility for a long time. And for the boys, I can’t begin to speak on them so I don’t give spoilers. But when you read it, you’d know 🌚 So go get yours!
*ESCAPE* by Moroti is one of those books that pulls you in quietly and then refuses to let you go. I found it incredibly gripping, smooth to read, and packed with enough suspense to keep both thriller lovers and “normal” readers fully locked in.
The story follows a group of friends navigating life, school, and friendships—until things begin to unravel in ways that are far darker than expected. What I appreciated most is how accessible this book is. It’s suspenseful and twisty, but not so heavy or intense that only hardcore psychological-thriller readers can enjoy it. That balance is hard to strike, and Moroti did it well. The suspense and surprise elements were genuinely to die for.
I was completely invested up until around page 429. The court case, the talent show, and the church testimony? Peak tension for me. After that point, when the story shifted into a calmer phase with exams and a slower rhythm, I personally felt the pace drag a bit. This might just be a *me* thing—I thrive on chaos—but that calm took away some of the final punch I was expecting. The last surprise didn’t hit as hard for me because the tension had already settled.
That said, clarity-wise? This book passes water. Everything was clean, smooth, and well laid out. Even with multiple POVs, I never felt confused. In fact, the different perspectives added so much depth. They helped explain why the friendships in this story were both fragile and tightly bonded—how personal traits, insecurities, and backstories shaped their dynamics. That emotional context made the twists feel earned, not random.
The pacing (for the most part) is excellent, the plot progression makes sense, and nothing felt out of place—even when surprise bombs were dropping at every turn. And can we talk about the dialogue for a second? It felt incredibly natural. I genuinely found myself wondering if the author took time to study people’s behavioral patterns because the conversations and character reactions felt *real*. Character development was handled with care, and it showed.
Overall, *ESCAPE* is a gripping, well-written thriller that knows its audience. It may not be “legendary” in the most extreme psychological-thriller sense, but it is highly entertaining, emotionally engaging, and very readable. I enjoyed it a lot, and I’m confident many readers will too.
I’ll definitely be checking out more from this author.
(Used both my accounts to post this because it's worth it)

I was literally shouting, “When am I going to escape these boys?” I know I was supposed to be afraid of the culprit, but honestly… it was the boys that were stressing my life.
Escape is a multi-POV novel that truly delivers. This is only the second book I’ve read that handled multiple perspectives so well. The way Author_Moroti gives each character a unique storyline is genuinely impressive. Yes, they all share that Casanova energy, but somehow they’re still completely distinct individuals.
But the character who stayed with me the most? SB. I kept thinking about him long after I finished reading. His self-awakening, that subtle coming-of-age arc—it made me realize that personal growth isn’t tied to age at all.
And the mystery—the reason I came in the first place—was absolutely worth it. Even though the culprit’s identity is revealed early, you still want to keep reading because you need to know why they did it and, most importantly, how.
And that last page? OMG. I had to pause, stare at my wall, and whisper, “WTF.” Because these guys did not escape. Sorry for the mini spoiler, but they didn’t escape at all.
I enjoyed every moment I spent with Escape, and I’m genuinely grateful I got to beta-read it. A big thank you to the author for giving me this opportunity.

Hear me out, this book wrecked me, but in a good way.
**** Four male friends in their final year in Uni, saddled with the sole desire of graduating. However, the lines between their desires starts to blur with the emergence of one female, stringing and leaving series of events in her stead.
Escape is one of those books I tag "Multi-purpose." Drama, suspense, thriller, comedy, plot twists...you name it, all checked.
Each character was expertly described, and I could relate with their struggles and motives.
I also loved the author's expertise in foreshadowing, even though I wished some scenes were given the opportunity to shine as they should have.
In all, it was a good read. A breath of fresh air, even. And I applaud the author for her ability in dragging variety of emotions from her readers with just this one book.
I just can't get enough of this book! It's definitely one of my top favourites. A huge shout-out to the author for bringing to life the everyday experiences that college students go through, especially in Nigeria—where it's not often talked about!
This book will take you on an emotional rollercoaster; you'll laugh, cry, and genuinely feel everything the characters experience, from their triumphs to their mishaps. Trust me on this—it's a truly unique read, and I'm still buzzing from the experience!
For me, it was an absolutely thrilling ride that really got into my head (in the best way possible!). You all have to grab a copy of this amazing book and join me on this journey!
When I started reading Escape, i didn't really expect it to give me such suspense at every page. From the beginning of the book, I could tell this book was about to get me drawn in. Every page came with a new twist. Author Moroti really did amazing on this one for real. I enjoyed reading bit of this book and you should too.
A beautiful writing from Author Moroti, the display of friendship from the four mc was genuine and real. Escape also shows the extent of what a human can do to get what they want, that is seen from the character Penelope. i wont say more so as not write a spoiler, but this book is a must read, if you are a fan of thrillers and imperfect characters!
ESCAPE is an impressive and emotionally charged campus novel that mixes humor, love, and darkness in equal measure. It is a story of friendship under fire, love in chaos, and the haunting aftermath of choices. The book cements Ogunmoroti’s voice as one of Nigeria’s most daring new storytellers.
