The Chaos Queen

I found my brother...
But I wish I hadn't.

---

Alvyrians are sick. They're dying.

But they're not my people, and this isn't my world. All I wanted was to find my twin so we could go home--to where we belong.

But I've also made new friends, new enemies, and I'm finding my powers to raise the dead are as much a part of me as my own mind and soul.

When the unspeakable happens, I have to face harsh truths. I have to run from everyone and everything I know...because I might be the key to saving both our worlds and everyone in them.

I was kindly given an ARC by the author. I also received books 1 and 2 as part of the ARC. The world base for this series has good bones. The magic introduced is unique and I think there was a lot of potential there for development. This book did have more streamlined dialogue and action sequences but I did feel it was rushed overall. I never had buy in for the romantic relationship(s) throughout the series because we only got internal monologue and not a lot of interactions depicted to understand the depth. Would really have loved to delve more into the magic and the land, not breezing through those parts in brief conversations.

ARC REVIEW

OMGGGGG WOW!!!! 😭😩 What a way to wrap up an amazing trilogy that has had a grip on me this whole year so far!! 🥲😮‍💨😅 I felt so many emotions while reading this story. Heartache, joy, love, pride, grief, happiness, irritation, anger…it was a rollercoaster, but I loved every second of it. I love our girl Everly, but sooo many times I wanted to just shake her by the shoulders so that she would wake up out of her denial!😑😩😖 The story picks up right where book 2 ends so it flows perfectly!! Right from the get go Julien doesn’t even seem happy to see Everly he’s just aggravated that his heist has been interrupted. I immediately remember why I didn’t like Julien in book 1—he disregards Everly so much when she always bolsters him up. He’s her first choice and she’s never a choice for him, which is always a fighting point throughout the book. It doesn’t take long for Julien to be won over by Aldrin’s wealth and power, regardless of the warnings and everything that Everly has told him that Aldrin has done to her and the people of Alvyria. Our girl can’t catch a break because she comes to terms with the fact that Julien might care about her, but would never choose her first and that breaks her heart all over again. She can’t trust her own brother/twin and that would destroy anyone. She finally realizes how far gone he is once he raises a person from the dead and knows that if Aldrin has both her power to raise dragons and Julien’s cruelty to raise any being without care, everyone is in danger—so she leaves. Annnnnnnd who should she cross paths with other than the lovely Ash 😏🤤🤌🏻 Ugh the tension, the banter, the longing, the “touch her and die”, the one bed trope, the “I’ll make you forget everyone else,” the unexpected gentleness shown only to her….it was giving me everythinggggg! 🥹😍 It took Everly a long time to see what was happening under the surface, but that’s on brand for her. While there were some things I did guess right, there were a few plot twists that I did NOT see coming either! 😱🫢 I was hooked to this story and couldn’t put it down that I stayed up super late to finish it!! Our girl grew so much in this book. She learned to choose herself even if it hurts because sometimes that’s what you need to do to protect yourself and others from being hurt when someone has fully gone. I’m hoping there’ll be more stories about more of the characters in other books possibly so that this world continues. It was my pleasure to get lost in this adventure—thank you Aubrey!! 🥰🥰🥰

OH SKIES.

This book took me on the emotional rollercoaster of a life time. From the reunion with Julien & how he is blinded by riches to the development of the connection with Ash & the chosen family she ends up with I was on the edge of my seat the whole book. The last 5 chapters really got me. I was in all my feels. Anger, betrayal, sadness, I was in tears. At the end I was so in shock to find out who Ash really was. & idk if I personally missed any foreshadowing but my jaw dropped. I think it ended well, if there are no plans for another book, I don’t think it needs another book to show what they do now after the downfall of the kingdom I feel like author left room for our imaginations to choose to see what we want for the outcome of their ruling.

I didn’t find myself needing to take breaks to read I wanted to devour it whole & I cannot wait for my copies of books to come in.

Thank you for writing such a beautiful book series that really allowed me to fall more in love with this genre.

this book Trilogy has literally taken over my life these last few months. I was very lucky to be selected to read this book and I'm so glad I did. This was such a different type of fantasy book that I normally read and I think thats why I enjoyed this story the whole way through. Do have to agree with some of the comments saying the ending felt a little rushed which I do agree and wish we could of gotten a little bit more out of the ending (or working up to the ending after the big "BANG" scene) but still overall I loved the story, the twists, the lessons thrown in the reading everything. really going to miss this series and so glad I got to read it. Definitely recommend.

Great read, good pacing, except the end does feel rushed but it does answer all hanging questions. Did not think i would feel satisfied with how much was happening after book 2 but it was an emotional ride.

ARC READER** Book 3 HITS!!! This was absolutely my favorite of the series! As much as I love world building and meeting all the characters and learning them, the meat of the story was in here and I absolutely loved it!

**Spoilers after this point**

The feelings I felt when Ash revealed what he had done for Everly 🥹😍
I mean half of his heart?! My jaw was literally on the floor when I read that. Totally unexpected.
I did, however, expect Julien to be a selfish rat though 🤣
I loved all of the characters (on the good side of course) and their banter with each other. Such realistic relationships with friends that are like family.

Great writing and awesome story!

I want to start by saying I wish there was a book 4 cause I didn't want the story to end. It was a bittersweet ending but I am so proud of how Everly did what she had to do. I also teared up at the unexpected moment of love and the meaning of it that the story brought. I would recommend this series all day long and I am so glad I've been an ARC reader for them.

This series was my first ARC reading and I am so happy because it is SO GOOD! I already can’t wait to reread. Each book gets better in this series and this 3rd book by far takes the carrot cake. The twists plunge you straight into the storm and you can’t read fast enough to find out what happens!! This is such an interesting take on necromancy and rebellion and it is the perfect blend for an intense Romantasy. Not to mention Ash and Everly are my favorite from their first meet and it just keeps getting better with them. I’ve never felt like a series ends on a good and fair note for us readers but this one does! While at the same time still leaving us wanting more. Cannot wait to see what adventure Aubrey has for us next! And I hope we see more of Everly and Ash!!

⭐️📚 ARC Review 📚⭐️

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 rounded up

Thank you to the author Aubrey Winters for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This story follows a chaotic heroine, a grumpy love interest, and a bunch of mayhem and destruction as they search for the truth. I liked the banter , the enemies to lovers trope, the grumpy/sunshine dynamic, the blossoming friendships. However the romantic relationship didn’t really feel authentic. Felt like it instantly went from enemies 1 second to lovers in the next with no real yearning or tension. The FMC ultimately annoyed me. I WANTED to love her so bad but she was too whiney and combative at the wrong times. Her different character traits didn’t fit together for me. I really would’ve loved to see the magic system fleshed out a little more. I felt like we were given the basic gist or the magic system, but not really enough to have a good understanding. I also would’ve liked to see more inclusion of the side characters. The first 70-75% kind of drug along. It felt very repetitive with a few pops of action here and there. The last 25% was action-packed and the best part for me, but it felt just a little rushed.

All in all it was a decent book/series. I’m not upset that I read it. Fun read with good energy and lots of heart.

When it all comes down to it, loyalty makes you blind.

We start off immediately after the end of the previous book. With it, more things to look out for because everyone's starting to move. It was a rush, an explosive finish to the trilogy where I needed to take a breather. Everything wrapped up in a cute little bow.

I wish it were longer, just so a few more things could've been addressed. Relationships I'd rather were fleshed out a bit more. Or at least everything slowed down a bit so it could've marinated better.

But all in all, love the characters. Love the emotional twist during the finale. We always love hate sex on my side of the internet. Hello? All that passion intensified due to anger and hate? Sign me up.

Zavriel has my heart. Because who wouldn't love an old grumpy dragon talking in your head who secretly cares about you?

I am so glad I got to be on the ARC team for book 3.

What an excellent way to wrap up the series. Aubrey really rolled it all out for this one in a way that made so much sense. With the world building completed in the first 2 books and the core characters known and loved, the story got to flow so beautifully.

The new characters we meet add so much to the story and I loved how I got to know the OGs so well that I had a lot of predictions come true, not in the sense of "oh that was predictable" but more in the sense of "yaaay I was right" (and sometimes "oh no, I was right)

A lot of the well-used and well-loved tropes were used but in ways that sometimes I would not expect.

This series has my heart.

As with books 1 and 2, I genuinely believe with some more developmental editing, this story overall could have so much potential.

The character development feels surface level and doesn’t help make the characters feel relatable or likeable. There were some plot points that also felt out of place or just frankly didn’t make sense. I would have loved to have seen more world and character development instead of so much inner dialogue from Everly that at times became repetitive and contradictory.

**I very graciously received an ARC copy of this book and do appreciate the opportunity to have read this before it’s release***

What a perfect way to conclude the series! Aubrey truly pulled out all the stops, tying everything together in a way that felt so natural and satisfying. With the world already fully built in the first two books and the core characters firmly established, this final installment flowed beautifully. The new characters added fresh depth, while the familiar faces felt like old friends. The story plays with familiar tropes in clever, unexpected ways, and honestly, this entire series has completely stolen my heart.

I had the absolute pleasure of reading an ARC of Aubrey Winter’s Chaos Queen, and let me just say—I was hooked before I even realized I’d hit chapter two.

From the very first page, Winter throws us headfirst into a world brimming with sharp edges, volatile magic, and characters who feel just as real as they are unpredictable. If Chaos Weaver and The Chaos Ruined were the setup, Chaos Queen is the explosion. The stakes are higher, the conflicts more gut-wrenching, and the emotional weight heavier than ever.

What stood out most to me was how seamlessly Winter balances action with heart. Every battle scene crackles with energy, but it’s the quieter, intimate moments that truly hit hardest. Everly’s growth in this installment is nothing short of breathtaking—she’s fierce, flawed, and achingly human. You can feel her struggles, her triumphs, and her heartbreak bleeding through the page.

And then there’s Zavriel. If I loved him before, this book cemented it. His presence adds both tension and depth, and I couldn’t get enough of their dynamic. The supporting cast also shines, adding layers to the story that make the world feel vast and alive.

Winter’s prose is both beautiful and brutal—elegant descriptions paired with raw, visceral emotion. The magic system continues to evolve in unexpected ways, and I found myself highlighting entire passages just to go back and savor the writing again.

And that ending? Absolutely merciless. Winter knows how to deliver a cliffhanger that leaves you breathless, already begging for the next book.

Chaos Queen is everything I hoped it would be and more: daring, emotional, and completely addictive. Huge thanks to the author for trusting me with this ARC—I’ll be shouting about this series until everyone I know has picked it up.

ARC REVIEW

Oh my. Everly. My girl. Made me want to shake her out of her naivety and help open her eyes during parts, but overall, I LOVED this series! I will definitely be recommending it to my book friends!
There were betrayals, love interests, pain, anger, softness, banter, friendships, and growth. Ugh. So good!

Just finished reading an advanced copy of a book that was just released called, The Chaos Queen. This is the third book in the Threads of Chaos series. I've been so lucky to read all 3 as ARCs and loved them all! Everly grew so much throughout this series, and it was really beautiful to watch it unfold. She came into her powers, learned how to control her magic as a chaos weaver, had the best sidekicks, learned who she could and couldn't trust, found true friendships and love. The world building and magic elements and character development for everyone throughout this whole series was done really well! The side characters personalities and stories were just as thought out as the main characters! This was a really enjoyable romantasy series and I'm so sad it's over! I can't wait to see what this author comes up with next! 💜📚

Thank you to the author for this ARC of The Chaos Queen, in exchange for an honest review.

⭐⭐⭐ - This wrapped up the series so well. I am firm on my opinion that you should read the series as 1 big book or at least all back to back. While I felt book 1 was too long and had its issues, book 3 I wish had been even longer.

Everly found her backbone! This was the best book in the trilogy. I greatly enjoyed each one. However, it felt like the ending was wrapped up very quickly and some story was missing. I would highly recommend this trilogy. The world building and character development is spectacular.

I had read the first 2 books and enjoyed the magic and really wanted to see how the story ended. It was slow at the start but the fighting at the end really helped the story move along. I feel like the ending was a bit rushed. As a complete story I'm glad it didn't end on a cliffhanger or leave it open-ended.

I am very lucky to have received the ARC from the Author! This was my first ARC and I wanted to take it seriously! I had the privilege of getting to read book 1,2 and 3 back to back and I feel like it was such an emotional impact on me! Getting to watch or read Everly‘s growth throughout the books makes you feel connected to her. I love how this author can make tragedy beautiful, if that makes sense! I felt like I connected with the heartbreaks, but also the wins! I’m obsessed with the magical system and what it represents! I will say this cliffhanger will leave you breathless and eager to know what’s next! I absolutely loved what I’ve read so far and I will be reading more from this author! Sorry to be so vague, but I don’t wanna add spoilers haha.

Wow! That’s all I can say! I was one of the lucky ARC reader and Aubrey did NOT disappoint! This series just got better with each book! I couldn’t put the book down! The plot, the twists, the ending, the spice! PERFECTION!

I’ll admit, the series started out slow for me but once it got my attention, it got my attention. This was my first time reading Aubrey Winters and I will for sure continue reading her work! The world building, the suspense, the character development it was all outstanding.

Let me start by saying, I took entirely too long to finish this book. The anxiety of it ending pushed me to draw it out. This series has been a pleasure to read. The friendships that were created. The magic. The world. The twists and turns that made me audibly gasp. The conversations that had me giggling, kicking my feet or creating inaudible noises. This is a series I will want to reread as well as recommend to other in my life. A standing ovation for you, Aubrey Winters for creating a series I really and truly love and I am so appreciative to you for choosing me (even if it was random) to be an ARC reader. For all the potential readers who are considering this series as their next read, do it. It has magic, dragons and so much more. This is a series read I feel that you will never forget.

ARC Review - I don’t even know what to say other than you’ll need this trilogy! It’s like if Fourth Wing and ACOTAR had a baby and the baby has more traits of Fourth Wing. This book had me stressed out for so much of it. Asking myself why a lot and almost crying towards the end. It hurts your soul and brings it back together. I am heartbroken over her brother and the path he picked but man did she need that to grow herself. Finally giving in to her mate was powerful and my heart was so full. Ash was more selfless than anyone gave him credit for. Saving her left all while keeping the mate bond a secret was beautiful! I want a shadow dragon please and thank you (:

I give it a 4.5 ⭐️ and the entire trilogy a 4 ⭐️

We pick up right where book 2 ended and jumped right into action. This book was fantastic. It had everything I wanted. Romance, dragons, action, dragons, magic. Did I mention dragons? I love the world building and the magic system is seriously unique. My only gripe about the series is that some parts feel rushed or incomplete. I feel like there could have easily been a book 4 or maybe 5. All in all its a fantastic series and now I need them in my collection.
