This was a sweet read. I was looking for an audiobook and came across this on PRH-Audio as part of their influencer program. I’m grateful do the gifted copy.

This socially isn’t my go-to sub-genre as while I enjoy royalty and academia , I’m more keen when it’s a modern setting as I am not a Bridgetown Fan. However, I enjoyed this. I like the head strong nature of the FMC and the historical references of other women who bucked against the system oppression.

I enjoyed the narration by Rebecca Yeo. She was a great to listen to with her period appropriate tone and ease of which she voiced various characters .

I look forward to more from this author in the future.

I thoroughly enjoyed this far more than I expected. Who knew I would enjoy a Regency era novel as much as I did? The story explores themes of classism and the misogynistic realities of Regency society, but what I appreciated most was that it did not make nationality a major focus. I have to wonder if I should thank Netflix’s Bridgerton for helping pave the way for that approach.

Lady Rosalin Chen is in her fourth season with the ton, a fact that is no longer acceptable to her father, the Duke of Delmont.  Either Rosalin finds a suitable suitor herself this season, or her father will arrange a marriage for her.  Unfortunately, Rosalin has no desire to marry and has been actively sabotaging her chances as no one has yet to pass the series of five tests she has devised for each prospect.  Rosalin would prefer intellectual pursuits over marriage and she is openly envious of her cousin Ansel’s privilege to attend university.  When Ansel reveals that rather than return to classes, he is going to be taking a secret European tour, Rosalin seizes her chance.  She disguises herself as Ansel and takes his place.  Roz (her male alter ego) is determined to prove herself to Ansel’s assigned tutor Tarik St. Clair, who openly seems to despise Ansel. Roz finds herself increasingly attracted to the devilishly handsome, exceptionally intelligent man who holds rather progressive views on women’s place in society.  

The third installment of The Diamonds series (following Queen Bee and Lady Knight) is a solid addition to the anti-historical Regency world Amalie Howard has created.  She explores themes of classism, sexism, and the misogynistic realities of the Regency era, all while creating a romance that readers will be cheering along.  Full of witty banter, humor, and a charming love interest, this story is sure to appeal to fans of anti-historical Regency romances.  Roz’s friendships , not only with Zia and Ela, but also her friendships with Will, the twins, and Henry at university really strengthen the story.  Tarik’s background outside the ton added a level of depth to the story and was nice to have a Regency Era romance focused on someone untitled.  The inclusion of real female scientists and their achievements is also a notable addition. Lady Rosalin desperately wants the same kind of chance at an education that her cousin, Lord Ansel, is happy to throw away for a year of travel on the continent. Since the two of them are so similar in features, Rosalin convinces Ansel it is in both their best interests to trade places of a sort. ANsel can roam Europe, while Rosalin spends her weeks at Cambridge learning from the best and brightest, and her weekends please her mama at the balls and parties of her fourth London season. What she doesn’t bank on is a college tutor who is also devilishly handsome and has progressive views of a woman’s place in society - someone she is quite willing to fall in love with despite the obstacles.

Howard finishes off the Diamond series with a classic plot device with some fun twists thrown in. You also see the characters from the first two books. While post-Regency in time period, all of the glitter still exists, too.

this book definitely ends the 𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘴 series on a high note! it was nice to read about rosalin chen from inside her own head - she was a fun character to follow, even if i thought that some of her monologue sounded too modern.

i really liked rosalin's friendships with her uni boys, will and the rest, and with blake, ela, and zia back in london. her relationship was her cousin ansel was the standout, honestly, and i loved that they had each others backs even when they could get each other in (more) trouble.

obviously, i was also fond of the romance between rosalin and tarik, my #nerds. they were very sweet together and i liked that they encouraged each other's passions and ambitions in science and in life. it was nice to see a male love interest in this series who wasn't rich! and also an indian who's smart *and* hot lol.

overall, good ending to an uplifting series. 3.5 stars, i'll always have a soft spot for these characters!

2.7 Stars. Very easy read but it was not my favorite. I think it was slightly better than average but I think the thing that irked me was when he found out her identity but then instead of admitting that she actually wronged him by lying to him, she kinda guilt tripped him and was like you hid your identity too. Ma’am no he didn’t, he was just going along with what you said because he was infatuated by your brain.
Also I don’t know if the audiobook narrator changed but their very high squeaky voice to depict the FMC’s voice was also irritating for my ears. To be fair though the narrator had a lot of different voices they were doing so props to them but I didn’t love their voice for the main character.

This book is hard to review… I guess overall I would say that I enjoyed it.

My favorite part about it was the fact that it was regency She’s the Man. It is one of my favorite movies so I thoroughly enjoyed the similarities. I appreciated all of the friendships in this book, especially with the uni boys.

I did not enjoy the FMC. She was by far my least favorite in this series. It could have had to do with the pacing? I don’t know but it seemed like the MCs fell too fast and were quite verbose about it. It felt unexpected after the FMC went on and on about her standards.

I liked the way the author wrapped up this series but I’m not sad it’s over.

I don’t have a lot to say because it kind of went in one ear and out the other? But I also didn’t hate reading it so? I will say it’s another genuine teen friendly read and I always love when I find a book I can add to that list. It does a good job of feeling historical and also adding a touch of modern phrases. I don’t think it’s overdone and once again, makes it work for the age group.

I was worried with how this plot was going to play out and I ended up liking the way it was handled. The romantic aspects were able to play out on a different playing field and I liked the contrast. Rosalin and Tarik had great chemistry and I loved the way they discussed science and the stars and all the things they held common ground on.

Most of this I read via audiobook and I liked the narrator! It’s a good format to pick up if you want to try this series. It’s complete now!

2.75 Not my favorite of the series & not my favorite series of this author. I think I would’ve liked in more if I’d read the print version. The narrator used a high, breathy voice for the FMC that drove me nuts. I would’ve preferred the voice she used for the non dialog parts. The conversation parts were like nails on chalkboard for me. I also thought it could’ve been a little shorter. I loved the concept - a young lady pretending to be her male cousin so she can attend university falls in love with her male tutor.

I really liked Rosalin's friendship with her university buddies and was glad that it continued. This was such a fun historical romance! Lady Rosalin dreams of getting the education she’s always been denied, so when her cousin Ansel wants to skip university and spend a year traveling Europe, they come up with the perfect plan. They will switch places! Rosalin gets to attend university in disguise during the week while still keeping up appearances at London’s social events on the weekends.

My favorite part was definitely Rosalin and Tarik! Their academic rivalry, banter, and growing attraction made this book so much fun to read.

I also loved how the story explored gender expectations and the sacrifices women had to make to pursue their dreams. If you enjoy historical romance with intelligent leading lady and chemistry, this one delivers!

the new “the diamonds” installment is just as charming as the others! i love these girls and their stories and i’m sad to be saying bye to this series. however, this one was not as strong as the previous ones.

i’ve never been a fan of the disguising as a man trope because it always ends the same way and this one was no exception. furthermore, roz continually trying to hide it and the back-and-forth between the school and her obligations all became tiresome.

in terms of the characters, both roz and tarik were just fine to me; i did like how academic they were, though. the rest of the boys were fun but i definitely prefer the female side characters seen in the previous books more.

overall, my favorite things in this book were the academic focus and the historical setting. i’ll definitely read anything similar the author writes!

Ros has long enjoyed studying math and astrology. She wishes she could have the opportunity to attend college, but that's not open to women. And her father has decided that she must find a husband by the end of this season. So she comes up with a plan to take her cousin's place at Cambridge for a term. Tarik is assigned as her (cousin's) tutor.

Of course I loved this book. I love everything Amalie Howard writes. This whole series is amazing. You could read this one as a stand alone, but I do think having read the previous two books adds to it.

I am so completely sold on a book featuring an incredibly intelligent girl who loves math?! She has a test for potential suitors and is looking for a smart guy who believes in women's rights. And she finds him?! I think this was written for me. I want to study the stars with Ros and Tarik forever.

The comedy of Ros playacting as her cousin was very well balanced with more serious topics. And the romance was so beautifully written.

Rebecca Yeo was an amazing narrator for the story. I was new to her narration, and she captured Ros so well.
