The Accidental Omega

Rate this book
Elizabeth is an average thirty-something woman, enjoying life on earth, when a dare from a decade ago catches up to her.

She thought there was no way those alpha aliens searching for omegas from the other side of space would want anything to do with her.

it turns out that she’s an omega after all, and a pack of huge, horned alphas eagerly await her arrival. An established pack, ready to spoil their sweet, compliant omega. Except “compliant” is the last word anyone would use to describe Elizabeth.

Arriving naked on a metal gurney, surrounded by growling, seven foot tall alphas was not what she was expecting. Nor was the luxurious, off-grid cabin in the woods, surrounded by odd, blue-needled trees and a happily burbling stream. How long will it take her psyche to adjust to this life-altering change… adjust to their expectations, their bodies, and their pheromones?

Elizabeth’s options are to become the compliant omega she’s not, or be miserable for the rest of her life. No big deal, right?

THE ACCIDENTAL OMEGA is an alien omegaverse romance novella (36k words) featuring forced proximity, anatomy lessons, scent matches, useful tails and as many knots as Elizabeth can take.

The Accidental Omega could have been wacky and fun, but it took itself too seriously. The relationship dynamics were off and a lot of necessary communication was missing. I didn't totally love the expectations without discussion that were put on the Omega when she first arrived. The Alphas improved their listening skills just a little towards the end.

I got a little vibe of Prime Mating Agency from the introduction to the alien species and the creation of such an interesting world.

Good idea, but the execution was off.

The premise and trope maps for this book sound fun and playful. Instead it’s paternalistic, infantalizing, and emotionally abusive but it’s fine because the FMC signed up for it and their blood matches them as mates. Huzzah!

Except she was intoxicated when she signed the legally binding paperwork. That’s…not consent.

The author uses omegaverse dynamics to force compliance from the FMC and tap dance around that pesky consent. But again it’s fine cause she’s a barely sentient, lush human and the superior aliens know what’s best for her!

She had to leave her home—her friends, her pet, her job—for a mistake she makes when she was sad over the ending of a relationship “imbibing in more than [her] usual share of illicit substances”. The author handles it so flippantly. As if loss of autonomy is a joke.

I get it, the author needed a means of getting everyone together but the way it’s marketed implies it’s humorous and hot when it’s neither. It can’t be because the story is built on a flimsy foundation that uses a serious topic for set up that isn’t deftly navigated. The solution is essentially ‘just let go of everything she’s ever known and present her fuckable holes’. Cause this is all *her* fault she’s in this mess. I mean, she signed that legally binding paperwork. No matter she wasn’t sober when she did. It’s giving the same energy as “what was she wearing”.

This book should at least have a content warning that includes: lack of consent in a legally binding situation due to intoxication that leads to loss of autonomy in a power exchange.

Good premise, okay execution

Honestly I went into this with high expectations after seeing launch details on social media (a different book description than the one here on amazon, images of character silhouettes/descriptions, etc). But, while I’d give this 4 or even 5 stars for the premise (Earth girl signs up for alien omega match-making program), it’s all the rest of it, the “what makes a book a book” that is just okay. Hence the 3-star rating

The writing at times is just cringe. The dialogue is awkward and stilted, and I don’t think that can get blamed or swept under the rug with just “oh, blame it on the translators or the language differences”.

There are too many alien terms introduced too fast with no context or definitions- and I’m not talking about this happening in scenes with the FMC where that might make sense, but in chapters from the various MMCs perspectives. This is particularly glaring in the case of the terms or titles for the four roles of the MMCs in the pack. To be the most charitable, from that character’s perspective, those terms wouldn’t need explaining; however, the reader is just left hanging and has to muddle through to figure things out over the course of much of the book. (And the teaser at the end for book 2 uses conventional terms for pack roles like alpha and beta, whereas this book doesn’t, so there’s no excuse for not using A/B/O terms as analogies to the alien terms. Or just describing the roles. Or anything at all. Literally anything other than constantly throwing these and other alien terms at the reader with no definitions, descriptions, or analogies back to earth terms.)

I do believe in the writing adage “show, not tell”, but here the author does neither, and that is the core problem, not just in the example above, but with several others I could list off.

The FMC’s transition from defiant and sassy to subservient, meek and obedient after essentially one scene is honestly not believable to me. The whole beginning of the book sets things up as not just reluctance but defiance in the face of what she’s being forced into. And then a few pages later, she’s all-in? The in-world explanations for her change of heart and mind are thin at best and definitely an area where plot takes a back seat to “let’s move the story along as fast as possible from premise to spice”

So, if you want alien OV spice, then this will scratch that itch for you just fine.

If you like some plot and good writing alongside your spicy scenes, this will probably be a frustrating read.

I was very intrigued at first, and then it stopped quite quickly.
I’m fine with non consent, but this was too much.

The dynamics were a little odd to me, also the fmc was actual human turned omega? I think. Or with omega tendencies with alphas from a whole other planet. I was not expecting a lot of this.

DV/SA survivors, be careful reading this. I sat with this for a day before writing this review. I read the content warning on the author’s website before reviewing. I even read other, fluffier books to settle before writing this review. I had seen all the social media posts, and was excited to read because aliens and OV! The posts mentions “lessons” but it couches it as a cheeky and funny aliens don’t know humans. It doesn’t mention the non-con, INTENSE discipline followed by a weird orgy where all the guys were overly excited by said discipline (and she’s weirdly excited about it all). She’s punished without knowing the rules (which she later complains about after the second one of these scenes). This scene was so intense and wrong that it triggered me hard. I had to put my reader down, take a shower, and fold laundry before I was ready to try to see if it got better. (I have read non con before that has gotten better and even called out how wrong the scene was. I even applauded the authors for facing it head on, and saying it’s wrong.). Is she horribly beaten? No, but this type of “discipline” is psychologically traumatizing for those who have lived it. Disciplining until that person breaks without their consent or agreement of rules/consequences is abuse.

Frightening thought - she went from being a strong sassy person to a meek, pliant character immediately after this really intense scene. Yikes.

Others will say “but the other characters were disciplined, too.” Yeah, BUT, they are from the planet and grew up knowing what to expect and it’s consensual for them. She’s new to the planet, scared and hiding it behind snark. They should have explained and let her have a say. Let her express concerns, which she does, but only after the second extreme scene. Not just jump straight into - “oh before we start bonding, let’s blow that trust right out of the water with this punishment you earned two minutes after getting here even though you don’t know the rules or why we have them.” The “overall mood” seems to lift when the one in charge of discipline seems to realize this method is causing conflict and negative results. He realizes “positive reinforcement “ is better. (Yes, they have someone who decides discipline and yes, it’s as icky as it sounds). But then she does something against the rules, and she gets an even worse punishment from a different MC, and then is ignored with barely any after care or reassurance from any of them. She becomes scared they no longer want her. As someone else points out, this is the omega coming out. (And then they are all of course we want you…but not until you cried and whimpered about it)

This is Stolkholm Syndrome masked as Alien OV. The CW’s just don’t go far enough. Yeah…it kinda covers it with general terms, but anyone who has survived DV is going to take issue with these scenes.

Alien Omegaverse

“The Accidental Omega” by Tilly Bramley is a quick and spicy sci-fi alien omegaverse. Bramley uses some of my favorite alien and paranormal romance tropes, like ‘Mars needs more women,’ ‘size differences,’ and ‘different physiology: 7-foot-tall teal aliens with horns and tails.’ This ΑΑΑΑΩ x MMMMF omegaverse builds on a well-established pack with very complex and structured dynamics. Alphas Zallan, Ryson, Nara, and Wells are eager to add their omega to their pack. However, the wide cultural gaps and especially the differences in expectations (most notably shown by Ryson) lead to many growing pains. Elizabeth is a human who got drunk, signed up to get tested as an omega, and then forgot about it. A decade later, she’s called up, and her life is turned upside down. There is a significant adjustment early in the story, but once everyone starts blending, the plot heats up. I enjoyed the multiple points of view and the interestingly structured alien pack.

I was really looking forward to this one after seeing the promotional campaign on socials, as someone who likes books similar to this premise (IPB, the Cleanian

However, I think there should have been some more character building regarding the alpha pack. Some of the interactions felt disjointed to me. There also wasn't a lot of explanation for the "rules" of the alien society, sorta just "do what I say, don’t ask questions” (although she did ask and no one answered her). I also didn’t really like that they basically broke her spirit/attitude to make her subservient in basically one scene, but that’s okay because they are mates?

Still giving it a 2 as I enjoyed parts of it, just wish it was fleshed out more.

Overall, this book had potential, but it ultimately missed the mark for me.

The world-building was disappointing, relying heavily on telling and Q&A-style info dumps between El and her alphas instead of letting the world unfold naturally.

The romance didn’t really work for me either. The guys were okay, but I wasn’t feeling much chemistry or depth from them.

For a book that’s marketed as smut, a lot of the sex scenes were skipped or happened off-page, which was especially frustrating. Some were even wasted.

Lastly, Elizabeth is (I’m assuming) bisexual, but I didn’t really understand the purpose of mentioning her past relationship with a woman when she ends up with alien dudes anyway—it just felt unnecessary. Now if it were MMMMFF, however, that would've been better.

I think what irked me the most was

An alien Omegaverse? this felt written for me haha! I had a blast reading this book and I’m so excited to read more about this world.

The world building was amazingly written, it gives you enough to pick your interest but without being overwhelming, it feels original, well thought and so interesting! I was interested even by their currency haha

As an OV lover I’m always a fan of well established pack roles, the fact that every member has their purpose is comforting, and here we have this but exponentially, the fact that there’s an enforcer, a protector, etc is so entrancing to read, I love how they work like a little clock and all of them fall into this roles so smoothly! That being said I enjoyed so much every alpha of this pack, like every single of them is a 10/10

I really enjoyed Elizabeth’s character, she’s the sassy omega who’s going to have this alphas on edge, a little wild card with enough fire in her to put up with this four very hot but very demanding alien alphas.

The spicy was so good! It was hot as hell but more than that I like how every interaction between them helped to create a relationship because of course they are a match but still they need to you now get to know each and build something…

I really recommend it to any OV lover!

How on Earth do I even begin to sign up for this incredible program?!? I’m bubbling over with excitement just thinking about it!! From the very first page, I was utterly captivated, completely hooked—my heart pounding with anticipation, already deeply invested in this unbelievable story. And then we meet the lads, each one with their wild, unique personalities, their tails, their horns 🥵 The love, the genuine care they show her—mate, it’s nothing short of extraordinary, it’s downright heart-melting!

Elizabeth? She’s exactly what they never knew they needed, she’s the missing piece in their lives, and she finds that out alongside them—watching her discover her own worth, her own fire, just lights up my soul! This isn’t just a story—it's a bloody emotional rollercoaster, a sea of passion and tenderness that I can’t get enough of. I need in—no more waiting, just take me straight into this whirlwind of love and adventure!

When Libby and her friends drunkenly signed up for the an intergalactic omega exchange, she certainly didn’t expect that anything would come of it a decade later. Libby ends up matched to an Alpha pack from the planet Celnoe- home to extremely tall, teal skinned aliens with very well defined pack laws.

The Accidental Omega was such a fun introduction to the alien omegaverse! I’m certifiably feral over omegaverse romances but this was my first read that took place on another planet- the world building was engaging and exciting. The alphas of this pack were all uniquely different in societal and physical aspects and I loved Libby and her extreme sass. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and am super excited for book 2!

Libby took a blood test to see if she was compatible with aliens back in college and now 10yrs later she gets a call telling her she matched with a pack of aliens and is being sent to live on a different planet to be their omega. This book was actually super cute and it had a cozy vibe. It’s a very smut forward novella but with a surprising amount of heart.

• MMMMF Omegaverse
• Omega Awakening (30+ FMC)
• Spicy (and human biology) lessons
• Tails :) and horns :))

Think I need to read more alien ovs!
I'm used to the humans teaching aliens trope. But aliens teaching their human how to be an omega? Top tier! Unmatched!
I like how defiant Libby was. But that she was willing to try to accept their customs and that the aliens were willing to compromise for her so she felt more comfortable. They way they were instantly devoted to her!
Thanks so much for the ARC Tilly! Based on that little snippet at the end, I'm very intrigued for the next one

Tilly has once again gotten me to read something outside the norm for myself. (I have been branching out to add to my genres tropes so I am willing to give most things a try or three...)

This is a different take on the Omega Verse style of books. Aliens have come to earth and demanding we, humans, 'help' them. Of course, we capitulated to their demands but had some caveats.

Libby, our wonderful FMC, did a thing a lot of people do and made some big decisions after some hard times in her life. In the way of the ways things, those decisions come back to bite her in the rear (and chest, and other places) later in life. She is a match to an alien 'pack' and must leave earth to join them on their planet.

The pack is a group of four large alien men with their own specific roles in the family/pack. They know their place and it plays to their personage. Now they have an omega, Libby. Who is her own force. She comes into their live with ideas of how things should be and isn't afraid to share them with the boys.

I love that we get to see an educated, working, FMC use her knowledge to improve things. She's right, they are tiny assassins.

This story involves:
- Flavored C*m
- Stretching
- DP
- A touch of Dom/Sub (more Brat/Wrangler maybe?)
- Naughty Knotting
- Alien biology
- Mentions of breeding but not done in story

Story: 4.25 of 5
Spice 4.75 of 5
Attitude: 5 of 5
Worldbuilding: 5 of 5
Overall I give it a 5 star because it was such a delight to read!

ARC Review:
Tilly Bramley knocks another one out of the park! This was a fast paced read and the spice was spicing! Libby accidentally signs up to be a potential omega for an alien race, whose omegas have all died. When the call comes that’s she’s been matched…she panics! What is she suppose to do with four Alpha males from a Alien Race with useful tales, tongues and scented 💦 I devoured this book in a few hours and I loved every moment of it. This book releases today! Make sure you check it out!

Jazz Hands

There's absolutely no jazz hands in this book but this is the emotional equivalent of jazz hands and a line of absolutely delighted dancers screaming for joy.

Also Tilly managed to make the punishment/obedience thing hot AND reasonable??? AND THERE'S NO PREGNANCY IN THIS ONE!!! Truly wonderful, no notes.

I'm preordering the next one too (even tho pregnancy seems likely from the blurb, and it's one of the things I avoid hardest in literature)

eh

I love Omegaverse and read all different types and this one was ok…it may have benefited from more length so that the leaps and bounds of change in personality and such could’ve been explored more. It just seemed a lot of dismissal of feelings followed by hormones followed by love with the FMC changing her entire self. I wish we could’ve had a fuller story. I think the story would’ve benefited from more progression in story.

ARC review:

Omegaverse and alien/human romance.

Size training….in both…..

Elizabeth was a bit annoying. But especially at the end where she was able to use her skills to help their planet was amazing. It seemed the men were more willing to learn about human than her learning about them.

The smut was on point! 🥵🥵🌶️🌶️ Loved seeing their relationship grow as a group. MM, MF, MFM, MMFMM

📍ARC Review

Oh my goodness! It’s been such a long time since I’ve read an Omegaverse, and I’d forgotten how much I love this genre. It can be so sweet, yet deliciously spicy at the same time.

Uff, you can’t imagine how excited I was to start this one — I just knew it would be an excellent read. It was exactly what I needed: something short, steamy, and out of this world. Because let’s be honest, who doesn’t love aliens? And when you throw in four Alphas preparing themselves for the arrival of their sweet Omega… oh, girlie, that’s a perfect combination!

I fell head over heels with each of the characters. They’re the perfect mix of sweet and dominant, and let me tell you — I want more. I need more of these characters. I was completely obsessed from start to finish!

📍Do I recommend it?

OF COURSE I DO!!

It’s the perfect book for any reader. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed and need something quick to relax with, or you’ve just finished a long, emotional book and need a breath of fresh air. Our beloved Gathea pack will help you focus, Omega.

It’s a short book with unforgettable characters, a unique dynamic that makes it stand out, as well as a little touch of what I would consider light BDSM. Plus, an omega who, despite finding herself in a new world, manages to finds her perfect place.

So don’t wait any longer. Run, and pre-order “The Accidental Omega”, and when you have it, come back and tell me.

Have you read Omegaverse before?

We all make dumb choices in college but how many of us have had that bad choice mean that we have to move to a different planet and be bonded to a group of alphas? Well that's precisely what happens to our FMC in this book 🤣 as always this book was a great ride from begining to end. All of the alphas have their own endearing qualities and our FMC is spicy and adorable
