Oh Jaime Jo Wright!!! Way to go! You completely knocked this one out of the park! Christian romantic suspense from the master of duel timeline gothic horror! A phenomenal read that once you start you won’t be able to stop!!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 rounded up.
Sadly, not as unique as many other Navy SEAL books, and not up to par with many Jaime Jo Wright books I’ve read. Decent story, though with a mild faith inclusion.
As I was reading this I thought this might be geared more for teens.

Pretty good for what it is

“Bowen?” “I have to keep her safe.” “I never said you didn’t. I merely said it wasn’t your responsibility to bear the weight of it. That is for God to bear. He will clear your path. You just have to follow and be His hands and feet.”
This amazing story is packed with danger and suspense, from start to finish. There was a gentle layer of faith and some unexpected twist that kept me eagerly turning pages. What a “meet cute”! I don’t know that I should say cute but it was definitely unexpected and an exciting first meeting.
Lainey Jo is brave and determined. I loved how she trusted Bowen completely, and when she tried to keep him safe, wow that got intense. I loved the sweet connection she had the Gramma Lou. I enjoyed how the mystery unfolded and the shocking truths she discovered about her family. Bowen is grumpy and protective. His battle with his guilt was intense. I loved that Pax told Bowen like it was and reminded him that he is not God. Their friendship and brotherhood was just what I would expect of former SEAL team members. I loved that Bowen didn’t even really question Lainey Jo, he just took her where she would be safe. I loved his determination to help her and to keep her safe, to not fail another mission. Their chemistry was fantastic from the beginning. I loved the way he admired her bravery and that he tried so hard to be gentle. Such a wonderful slow burn just waiting for the danger to pass to catch flame.

All he knew right now was that Lainey Jo needed to be held. There was only one man available to do the job.

While I’m not a huge fan of the Romantic Suspense genre, I am a huge fan of Jaime Jo Wright’s books. It was a bit of a dilemma, but I made room for this book in my busy reading schedule and, y’all, it was actually really good!
Ever since she took down her famous uncle’s criminal empire, Lainey Jo has been a part of WITSEC, living in the middle-of-nowhere Montana. But even from prison, her uncle’s organization has found her, infiltrating the U.S. Marshals to track her down and try to eliminate her. On the run with an assassin hot on her trail, Lainey Jo jumps into a random stranger’s truck and her life changes.
Former Navy SEAL Bowen Mays was just getting groceries for his grandma when Lainey Jo tumbled into his truck, terrified. The Montana mountains may have been a prison for her, but for him, they have been healing after his last mission went wrong. With a chance to make things right, Bowen agrees to help Lainey Jo. But he soon discovers nothing about Lainey Jo is as it seems. Has he bitten off more than he can chew? And will they be able to make it out of Montana alive?
Pros: This wasn’t a sappy romance, it was a suspense story with a dash of romance thrown in – just the way I like it! I loved the whole mystery/suspense angle and the way it wove in real life true crime stories. It made the story seem real and really made you think about the people caught up in the fringes of criminal organizations and the choices they have to make.
I also wanted to stand up and cheer at the way Bowen’s character arc resolved. Pax’s speech to him was fantastic!
Cons: Just your average “why are you doing it that way?” moments where I question the heroine’s life choices.

Running for safety she dives into the front seat of a rusty old truck parked across the street from her apartment building, pleading with the unknown driver to just "Go, go, go!".
Bowen Mays (who just happens to be a former Navy SEAL) knows trouble when he sees it, and his frantic passenger has trouble written all over her face. The fact that she is in the Witness Protection Program confirms their suspicion. Her cover has been blown. But who? And why?
A tense suspense with all the markings of a complex web of deceit. Add in a gracious, kind grandmother along with a work-in-progress hero and Lainey Jo gains much more than she loses.

This grabbed my attention from the start and kept it. Lainey Jo is in witness protection for testifying against her Uncle when she comes home one day to a torn up apartment and then is shot at by a terrible sniper since the sniper missed. She escapes but only because she jumps into a vehicle and luckily finds help from the driver of the vehicle. So much happening and a few surprises as the story unwinds. Great characters and the story is well written.

I loved this book! I loved the non-stop action from page 1 to page 203. There was never a dull moment. The characters were fantastic. I wish everyone could have a Gramma Lou, best friends like Bowen & Pax, and a truck named Zeke. I wish I had the courage of Lainey Jo as well. This was fabulous. And I loved the dedication page too. I will read anything Jaime Jo Wright writes!Bravo Jaime!

Great storyline
Oh my. Romance and suspense and the wi.d west mountains. What more can one want ? You can get sucked right in front the beginning and not want to put the book down till the end.
You might need a tissue along the way...

Engaging.
What a wonderful work of Christian fiction. It was captivating how there was a whole lot of action and finding love in an unexpected way.
I highly recommend it and you won't be disappointed.
