She expected a brute. She got a baker with a tail full of venom—and an oven full of feelings. When Mira agrees to the Monster Matrimony match, she’s mostly in it for survival. A human woman can’t live outside Sanctuary alone, and a monster mate offers food, safety…and apparently, a husband.
But she wasn’t prepared for Vuhr, a soft-spoken manticore warrior with lethal instincts and a surprisingly gentle touch. Their cultures clash, their customs confuse each other—but when their bond is sealed, it’s scorching.
As Mira learns to read his nonverbal language and Vuhr struggles not to accidentally sting the woman he’s come to adore, love begins to bloom in unexpected places.
Even in the post-apocalypse… a girl can still get a happy ending.

Married to the Manticore is part of The Monster Matrimony Files—a series of short, spicy monster romances set in a post-apocalyptic world where love is arranged, monsters are husband material, and the bridal contract comes with claws. Each story features a guaranteed happily ever after, species-specific steam, and a heroine who signs the paperwork and claims her beast.
This book is less than 80 pages and it goes WAY TOO FAST like listen I love me some good monster smut but this is basically oh they KINDA get to know each other but in actuality they're just fucking for like all of it.
The only thing I retained is the tail action, how she (essentially) sold herself to him in a bid to escape the human city and now they are in love. Which btw could have been a really interesting way to introduce the overarching plot of the world, maybe make up some mythos about said alien husband but no.
I wouldn't really recommend this to anyone unless you're looking for a quick like 1 hour read ig. Or if you have KU and just want to read it for the fun of it.
I do appreciate the author using real art and no gen ai slop so that's why it gets 3 stars and not 2.

This was a mess. It could have been really cute and interesting, but the timeline was all over the place and there were so many inconsistencies that kind of ruined it. It felt like I was reading different revisions of the same story thrown together and not a completed draft.
Mira has turned to the Monster Matrimony service so that she can live in peace knowing she has food and safety. When she meets Vuhr, she doesn’t know what to expect – he’s a manticore, a warrior who fights to protect… but he’s also gentle and sweet. As the two of them get to know each other, they begin to realize that maybe they were matched together for a reason.
This was okay. Look, I love a good spicy book with a plot, and I enjoy cozy books, but the entire premise of this was their meeting and becoming mated, all while navigating language barriers and cultural customs. And the spice wasn’t even that well written but pretty quick and rushed. I don’t know. I just wanted more from the plot and the romance.
Loved this story. Was a different take than the usual human x alien/monster match. Enjoyed how they stayed at the match sanctuary to learn about their different cultures and to make sure their bond was strong and wanted by them both. The end has bonus story with them called night flight, i didnt see it when i clicked the link. Hopefully i can find it and read it. HEA and sweet love story.
This story needs another edit. There are several spots where the story contradicts itself. It’s as if the author meant to go in one direction then changed her mind but forgot to adjust what she said in the beginning. I am really interested in the world she created, though, so I’d like to read it again if corrections are made.
It was a short sweet book that was more romantic than spicy. There was more detail put in to the environment and overall plot then the actual details of the spice level.. and that's saying something since there wasn't much plot to begin with
This felt like a novella, with no depth, little story and no character development. It was fine. I finished it in less than an hour. Will not pick up any more of them.
