Rate this book
Having successfully defended his city and quit necromancy, Jeremiah’s learning new skills—but old habits are hard to break when you’re up against monsters.

In the wake of unrest, embers of discontent still glow hot in Dramir. And thanks to the role that ex-necromancer Jeremiah Thorn and his friends played in defeating Vivica—and defunding the city’s wealthy elite—they’re frequent targets for verbal abuse and a steady stream of lawsuits. There seems to be no way out of the mess, but luckily this adventuring party still has some tombs to raid, traps to defeat, and most importantly, treasures to hunt.

And this time, Jeremiah plans to rely on his beginner-level enchanting and backyard spear-fighting lessons. No summoning undead minions; that’s the rule. The question is how long he can stick to the plan when dark forces both above- and belowground aren’t playing by any rules at all and unseen tyrants are yanking the strings in a quest to destroy them. Does he have what it takes to face down mad mages, monsters, and mercenaries and turn what feels like a dead-end job into a destiny?

The second volume of the hit fantasy-adventure series—with more than 250,000 views on Royal Road—now available in paperback, ebook, and audiobook!

Tropes redemption arc, found family, hero’s journey, fish out of water, and moral ambiguity.

A worthy sequel to The Necromancer's End

(Open letter, no spoilers)

Hi Jack,

I found it difficult to express how much your story meant to me in a review for a general audience, so instead I write this open letter to you.

Ever since I read Necromancer's End I've been awaiting the sequel more than any book. Few other stories managed to cover such complex topics and rich worldbuilding without becoming bogged down by them. I was hyped to learn more about the nuanced underworld, intricate trapmakers, and of course, curious ending.

Your sequel delves even deeper into everything I loved about the original, and well beyond my expectations. Much like your previous work, where many writers opt for cartoonishly good-vs-evil struggles or leave it at "life's complicated" and shy away from casting judgement where deserved, you handled the complexities of injustice with both nuance and righteousness. Not only that, but you managed to write it into a highly engaging and personal read in a way that feels like magic.

I devoured Enchanter's Rise in a few days, yet it left me to ponder for many after. I can tell your heart went into it, and I share your frustrations with the world. The passion your words carried made me excited to write my own stories in my spare time. I can't change the system, but I can spread kindness and empathy to those around me.

From the bottom of my heart:
Thank you.
