What a fab catch-up with Mina and her family! I loved seeing their new dynamics, with a brood of children and plans for 1 more clutch. Also fab to see how the children are growing and it really whets my appetite for the series to come, featuring Raven.
4⭐️ I loved this book was written entirely from Ziggy's point of view. He's my favorite. I also enjoyed seeing how Mina's children have grown and developed into their characters. Maybe clues for the next generation of books...

Solstice is book 7 of Dragonis Academy A Holiday Novella by Serenity Rayne.
Five years have passed after Mina claimed and took her throne and we now have the chance to see her with her family. Mina though is on one last mission, to give her remaining mates offspring, she has 7 offspring already off on their own learning how to fend for themselves, learning to use their own abilities and now it’s finally time to once again expand her family, and there’s only one person she could ask to help her on this underhanded mission. Her only choice, her mate Ziggy.
I fell in love with this heartwarming and funny story. I loved the way Ziggy took such great pleasure in ensuring that Mina’s dreams became a reality. We get to see this told from his POV and I just loved how much joy Ziggy took in stalking his bond brothers while trying to remain secretive, even though that didn’t really work all that well.
I just loved and thought it was so sweet that Ziggy went through all this trouble and he was bound and determined to make his bond brother’s dreams of fatherhood a reality and he wouldn’t stop at anything to ensure he reached his goals. Even though his other bond brothers had their suspicions about what he was doing and of course he was being watched by some very observant offspring Ziggy really did have his work cut out for him, but he wasn’t doing this alone, he had all the help he needed to ensure that his mission was a success.
I loved that we got to welcome 3 new offspring in this holiday novella: Nightmare Stallion, Gargoyle and a Griffin.
I really enjoyed seeing how all the offspring grow into their own and how protective they are towards their mother and even towards their new siblings. Ziggy’s displacer beast twins are the true riders; they are ready to phase at a second’s notice, Abraxis’ dragon daughter, she is so sweet and yet she’s a little shy and you can tell that she’s still coming into her own. But you can tell that she is going to be a force to be reckoned with once she does come into her own.
Klauth has a hotheaded and arrogant dragon son and you know that he’s going to be a handful. Balor’s Basilisk son is able to remail calm and cool at all times. Klauth, Balor and Thauglor’s hybrid daughter is always ready for whatever comes at her. Then we finally have Thauglor’s dragon daughter Raven. Raven is Mina’s doppelganger. Raven’s a little vixen dragon who you know is going to be just as fierce if not fiercer as her mother with her aggression, tactical mind, power, and abilities. You can tell right away that Raven’s a true born leader and she blows her family away on a daily basis. I’m so excited for her book.
The first generation of Dragonis Academy books was so much fun, action packed, spicy and an emotional roller coaster ride and I can’t wait for the 2nd generation and I’m so excited to see what it has in store for us.
I am sad that this first generation of Dragonis Academy books has come to an end, but this holiday novella was the perfect ending. It brought all the lose ends together, tied up the few things that were left open and it gave us a small look at the hatchings Mina and her mates had. It truly was the perfect end to this stunning first gen series and I am ready for the second gen to start.
If you haven’t started this series yet then I suggest you jump into Year 1 and understand why we all love this series so much.
This was a perfect novella set 5 years after the events in Queen of the Cursed Egg we see Mina and her happy family. Mina is on a mission to provide an offspring to her remaining mates; with 7 offspring already fending for themselves and learning how to use their abilities it is finally time to expand her family and who better to assist her on this covert mission? None other than her mate Ziggy.
This story was so heartwarming and funny. Ziggy took great pleasure in making Mina's dreams a reality. Told from his POV we get to see how Ziggy stalked his bond brothers all while trying to remain secretive (yeah that didn't work). It was so sweet how he was determined to make his bond brother's dream of fatherhood a reality and the lengths he went through to achieve his goal. Factor in his other bond brother's suspicions and the overly observant offspring Ziggy had his work cut out for him, but he also had the help he needed to pull of his mission.
In this novella we welcome 3 more offspring: Nightmare Stallion, Gargoyle and a Griffin
It was fun to see how the offsprings are growing into their own and how protective they are toward their mother and new siblings. Ziggy's displacer beast twins are true riders; ready to phase at a moment's notice, Abraxis' dragon daughter is a little shy and still coming into her own. Klauth's hotheaded and arrogant dragon son is going to be a handful. Balor's Basilisk son is cool as a cucumber, Klauth, Balor and Thauglor's hybrid daughter is always ready for whatever and finally Thauglor's dragon daughter Raven is Mina incarnate. This little spitfire dragon is going to be FIERCE. I think she may even surpass Mina with her aggression, tactical mind, power and abilities. Raven is a true leader and surprises her family on daily basis. I literally cannot wait for her book.
The 1st Generation Dragonis Academy was a fun, action packed, spicy ride and I look forward to what the 2nd generation has in store for us.
Thank you, Serenity Rayne, for the gifted eARC and allowing me the opportunity to read it.
I was genuinely excited to read the final installment for this series but am disappointed with the writing/story line. While most of it was fine and I enjoyed how amusing Ziggy was, I did not appreciate how the author singled out a child. Half of this series talks about how much Klauth had suffered and how his children were killed before they could draw their first breath. When Mina has progeny with Klauth the author made it seem like he was finally going to be happy then she wrote whatever this was. There is not one sentence in this book that speaks kindly of Alister while every other child is depicted as an angel. While it’s never specified, he’s probably around 5 years old and yet every adult in this book hates him and very clearly treat him that way. His siblings also ridicule and attack him constantly and yet the parents never do anything to defend him or correct the other siblings behavior. I understand Alister has a bit of an attitude problem but honestly understandably so with how this author wrote his character and how he is treated by his so called “family.” He also is repeatedly depicted as weak and lists every potential weakness a dragon could have for his characteristics. Klauth is truly the only one who shows his son any love or attention. Mina deeply disappointed me in this book because she shows zero maternal love towards him but clearly does for every other child. I know it’s just a book but I do not believe authors should depict an innocent child as evil when really they are ignored and repeatedly shown they are hated by their own parents. It’s no wonder he is always trying get his parents attention when he is consistently shunned and treated like an abomination. I don’t believe I will read the next gen series because I already know this author will write Alister as the villain and have his entire family turn even more against him than they already are.
Why do I have a feeling Allister is going to be a problem? Or is going to need to have his ass kicked by the rest of his siblings. He absolutely did inherit the worst traits of both sides of his lineage and acts like his deceased “grandfather” (we don’t claim that man).
Raven…. She’s already reminding me so much of her mother and I can’t wait for her series. I especially can’t wait to see more of her siblings although I don’t really particularly care for the one mentioned above. He is very narcissistic already and he’s only six, which is not good. I really hope he’s not gonna be a problem.
Ziggy was absolutely adorable in this book and I just love Mina and her men and it was great to see them all have their own child. Although I do hope she has more in the future and we’d see that I just hope none of them follow in Allister’s footsteps because he seems like a little tyrant. Klauth must be beside himself with actually finally getting a child only for him to be a little asshole.
I can’t wait for Ravens story and I’m absolutely excited

If you loved watching this family grow in the last book of the Dragonis Academy series, you will enjoy this book. It’s finally time for the last three men to create the babies that will be biologically theirs, and Ziggy is on a mission to make it happen for them. It results in a sweet storyline that shows how much these characters all care for each other, and how they are all doing a few years later. There isn’t really room for spicy times in this book though; those parts remain hidden to focus on the sweet and cosy feeling.
Another thing that’s part of Solstice, is that it shows the potential of Mina’s older children, and it opens up some possibilities for the next generation I wasn’t entirely anticipating. It definitely added to my curiosity about the next series, so I’m excited to see what Raven’s story will bring.
This is the seventh and final book in the Dragonis Academy Solstice series. Unfortunately, this wonderful series has come to an end.I am sad because this is the end of a beautiful story. I loved this book! I loved being able to see and understand Ziggy’s thoughts and emotions. The love that he has for his family is what made me fall in love with this book. We see exactly how much he loves, protects and supports each member in his flight. It is amazing to read and understand how he feels. We all have a deep and abiding love for our family and it is wonderful to see it expressed so beautifully in this book! Thank you, Serenity Rayne, for a satisfying completion to this beautiful and heartwarming story. I cannot wait to see how the next generation grows up and the craziness they will get into!!
Yes! I can't believe we get one final novella in the Dragonis Academy series. At the end of Queen of the Cursed Egg, I was bummed that we didn't get to see the rest of Mina's kids, but Serenity fixed that with Solstice. Not only do we see Mina's first clutch a little older, but also her last clutch is on its way.
I loved that the story was told from Ziggy's POV. He was my favorite of Mina's guys. In typical Ziggy fashion, he was warm, playful, and bright as he helped Mina hatch her plan. It was interesting seeing all the kids with their own little personalities. One thing is for sure, they all seem to have Mina's cunning to some degree. Solstice was a great transition from Mina's story to the next generation. I can't wait for what happens next. The hybrids are coming.
A very sweet romantic conclusion to the series. Ziggy gets the mission of a lifetime to fulfill his bond brother's greatest wish of becoming fathers. It was a super quick novella completely from Ziggy's POV. I didn't expect Ziggy to be quite so romantic. He's always been portrayed as a mischief maker. He's the fun mate and Dad. He cares deeply for the nest and flight. I wasn't anticipating how romantic he is. He craves peace and happiness and this is portrayed in how he cares for his family. Some of the language was repetitive and a little frustrating but I enjoyed reading this finale of the first gen dragonis academy series. I have so many theories and questions for 2nd gen and I'm so excited to read about Raven.
Okay, turns out I've read this at some point last year. Don't ask me how that happened when it was part of a series, but I reread it just so I could get the most out of the series. Love Ziggy and his daughters. They are the sweetest characters in the series, IMHO. And as much as I loved the fact that this is the culmination of the story arc of Mina and all her men becoming parents, it did throw up a little hint of trouble ahead. Allister. That's all I need to say (ifkyk), and I can't wait to see what happens between him, his parents and siblings - especially Raven. But that, of course, seems to be the subject of the next series. I can't wait.
This was the perfect cosy, sweet, warm, and fabulous transition between Dragonis Academy and the Next Gen series. We get to visit all our favorite adults - Mina, Klauth, Thauglor, Abraxis, Balor, Callan, Vaughn, and our story narrator- Ziggy. ❤️
I loved seeing the Next Gen's personalities and how they are figuring out their place in their family. The final dads getting their own biological littles was so sweet.
Solstice wraps up the adults story and lets us see the hard work they have done to come together as a loving family and fair and just rulers.
Really...this novella gave me all the feels and I'm looking forward to continuing with the Next Gen series!
It was great to return to Mina and everyone for the new additions to their family! I really enjoyed that it was told from Ziggy's pov throughout since he was one of my favourite of all the males since the beginning. It was interesting to see how the kids have grown and fully come into their personalities. Hopefully we see some change in Allister going ahead into the second generation series. Leander's moments with his kid was just too cute! So glad everyone got a child in the end. It was a great way to summarise a final glimpse of focus onto Mina and her mates while transitioning to the next generation. A nice addition to the Dragonis universe.
So in general I liked this view into the future of the family and seeing the kids getting older. It was interesting having the entire viewpoint from Ziggy since he’s so sweet.
My issue is that it’s clear this was being used to set up the coming issues for Raven’s series. Hopefully I’m wrong and Allister won’t be the antagonist in it but I just hate that for so many of the books it discussed Klauth’s trauma and now he finally gets a biological child and he’s set up as being a problem child and future issue. Just seems sad for Klauth and also why would only 1 child have that attitude or mindset… seems more like learned behavior.
This book was the perfect ending for the Dragonis Academy first generation story. I love how it tied up one of the few things that was left open at the end of Queen of the Cursed Egg and also that we got a peek at the hatchings Mina and the guys had. I liked that it was told from Ziggys POV and there were quite a few funny moments in the book. I am already really looking forward to the gen 2 books starting next year and I would highly recommend not only this book but the entire series if this is the first book you’re coming across.
Ziggy is a displacer beast on a mission to fulfill the dreams of the nest. Will he succeed in making the future father’s dreams come true?
Wonderful characters revisited from the Dragonis Academy in this heartwarming story about the next generation. Great winter tale of found family and the love that binds us all together. Such a peek behind the curtain into the potential of Mina’s older children as well and I can’t wait to dig into the next generation. Slightly repetitive but lots of love for this novella.
I loved diving back into this world to see what Mina, her mates and their amazing kids are upto.
Mina devises a plan and has conspired with Ziggy, her Displacer Beast mate to make her dreams become a reality. It was amazing seeing how all the kids are going a few years later and learning a little more about them. I can already tell Mina and the guys are going to have their hands full with some of their kids for sure. I kind of can't wait to see what they are like when they grow up. I know it's going to be amazing and full of chaos and adventure. And it was beautiful to see that Mina did indeed make her dreams come true in the funniest and sweetest way possible.
Such a great read and a brilliant end to this series.
Thank you Serenity and Meg for the opportunity to read this story and to be a part of your amazing ARC team. I am forever grateful 🙏
I enjoyed Ziggy's novella. Laughed at his Jaws reference...that was great! Loved meeting the new hatchlings and the focus on family. Especially this time of year. The only thing that disappointed me was Allister, Klauth's son. After ALL they been through let alone all their personalities, why would he get a son like that? Doesn't really make sense. They wouldn't raise him like that, it's horribly sad. I don't know if I want ti read the next generation if he is going to dark side. He's Klauths only child that he has wanted so desperately.
Wow! What a ride to jump back into with Mina and her family! Ziggy was golden this book! What fun Ziggy seemed to be having watching the family and planning with Mina. This helped tie up things with the rest of the mates about getting their own kids, not that they didn’t already love all the other little ones, because they do! I’m sad to say goodbye honestly. You should absolutely read this book after finishing the others, it helps with closing this chapter and getting ready for the next generation. Loved this series so much, I’m sad to say goodbye.
Serenity gives us the fantastic finale to the Dragonis Academy series! This story is told from Ziggy's point of view and he and Mina are planning for the romantic rendezvous with the last three mates without children to conceive with her. How they get from there to their hard won HEA requires diving into this beautifully written story with complex characters and plot twists that keep you guessing and turning pages throughout. I loved reading this story and highly recommend the series! Don't miss out on this book!!
This was such a fun catch up with Mina and her family. Ziggy put in so much work to make Mina's plan a reality.
I loved catching up with all the kiddos and seeing Mina make it so all of her men are now fathers. Seeing all the unique creatures in her family is so amazing.
This really gives us a great send off for their family's story while really leaning into their children and who they are becoming.
This was perfection in all the best way possible I loved that we got to see all the kids and the future after everything that happened! I'm an emotional mess. There's so much potential for the future of this universe and I'm here for it all! I love all the detailing that went into this and the planning lol. Mina is my favourite and I love all the dynamics and how stunning it all is. Brax really is a girl dad lol. And it's just cute all of them all. Swoon here all the swooning.
I loved all the planning and work Ziggy put into getting Operation Last Clutch organized and set up. I loved seeing how all the little ones reacted with each other and how a group of them ambushed Ziggy and Balor about what was going on so they could help. I also liked that everyone was putting in effort to help. Ziggy ran himself into the ground doing most of the leg work for the operation to the point he exhausted himself. It was a good book but it was a little repetitive in parts of it and that took away from Ziggy and the story for me. It did give me insight into the little ones and how they will grow up and who might have issues later in life. As always I love Serenity Raynes books and I can’t wait to read more.
Love this bridge book between the adults and their children. I loved Ziggy's POV. His love for his family, duty and responsibility shines in this book. It was great to get the insights of the next generations personalities and growth. Lord help Allister, he is in for a rude awakening. I look forward to Ravens story. She is going to be a power house and Ziggys twins are precious and show great understanding and are team players.
This book was a fantastic read that grabbed me and kept me reading from start to finish. There was no putting it down. I had to know what was going to happen. This book will not disappoint and I loved how they worked together to reach the end result. It moves along at a really great pace perfect for the story and you will love these characters even more. This is a must read.
The next book in the Dragonis series moves us forward 5 years into the future with Mina and her bonds. This was a fun and cheeky novella preparing readers for the next generation of dragons. I loved that Ziggy took the lead on this story, and can’t wait to see what happens next with Mina’s children.
What a cute Novella to wrap up Mina’s side of things. Ziggy is such a sweetheart always looking out for the family making sure everyone is happy. We get a glimpse into how the younger generation will turn out with some tension between Raven and Alister that will be interesting to see.
So sweet!🩷 I really enjoyed catching up with the group, and meeting the new babies. I really enjoyed all the time with Ziggy, he is one of my favorites of the guys. I did read a tiny bit the bothers me, i hope it changes early into the next generation, but we shall see. I can't wait to read Ravens story.
